It sounded like a lot of commotion down the hall, and while she had already tried her tool on the Engines and they had no affect, something else was there. Or someone else. Carefully, she wandered back in. Though she really wanted to go along to try the tool everywhere else, she pointed it along the room. "Where are you?" Was it possible? The engines were slowly getting damaged all over again?
"No zoom." She protested, scanning the area. Carefully she looked to see if Lucky was in the Engine Room. Her plan was to use her tool on them to make them stop. Though, was that really a good use? It was kind of gun-shaped. Guns got pointed at the other people. It made sense, to her at least.

A invading voice penetrated Sludge's thoughts, disturbing him out of his slumber. Hissing angrily he moved out of the shadows, having been hiding away in the crook of some large machine, staying out of everyones way. He had done his job, fighting the previous crew that occupied the ship. Although for someone who had participated in the fighting he looked remarkably uninjured, besides a small cut on his arm. The reason for this partly resided with his species deadly trait; their blood was highly corrosive, and it seemed the crew were aware of this fact. His acid blood was not his only weapon however; he razor sharp claws and bladed tail were just as deadly, which helped him to make sure work of the crew.
Now his tail was swishing angrily as this foreign voice demanded the surrender of their captain. He snarled at the thought; he may be a mercenary, but he was paid well, and he was not one to double cross a employer. He wasn't going to let whoever it was get away with such threats.
Once the captain said her words, he looked around the current room he was in. He had no idea what any of this stuff did, but he was aware it was needed to fire the missiles, which was the one thing he knew how to use on this ship. But judging from the smoke coming from it he could tell the machinery had been damaged and needed to be repaired.
He snarled at the metal contraptions, having no clue as to how to fix any of it.
One of the organics had their hand on her arm, garbling at her with their incomprehensible language. Tria tilted her head to the side, scouring her memory to try and remember this face. Still not jogging anything. She blinked incomprehensibly, and answered it's smile with a traditional Lanius greeting: a peculiar wiggling of her arms in a synchronized manner.
She gestured to a panel in the room, and lay a hand on it, letting it absorb into her body. See, she tried pantomiming, I'm helping!
Name// Tria Species// Lanius Status// damage roll: 12, Tria has a deep scratch on her arm that should need some attending to. Eventually. But Tria has an important job. Very important. Tria will get it treated later.
Just as Ern's vision was beginning to dull, he heard someone else approach immediately offering assistance to the med bay. A small, sour smile tugged on his lips. With a low hiss, the human propped himself in a more upward sitting position.
"Sorry we screwed up," he sighed earning a rude snort from Zelfos, "But yes, I am hurt bad."
"I was trying to stop the sparks from burning us," grunted the rockman as he continued to backtrack his button pushing. He gave no heed to the other companion as he worked though.
Soon after, a strange looking humaniod came to check in. She pointed an odd tool at the generator and left as soon as she appeared.
"Don't die. Well...isn't that cheery?" Zelfos chortled. But the shields were looking better upping the golem's mood.
"Don't worry about me for now," Ern sternly stated, "We need the shields. They are more important than me loosing a bit more blood." --------

There was someone else in this room, and regardless of his lack of understanding Sludge knew that this person was making the situation worse. He may not know about the system used, but he dam well could stop the people from breaking them even more.
While there was another in this room looking for the person responsible, Sludge paid them little mind, Looking for Lucky with the intent of trying to stop them with force. He was not a diplomat, nor did he hold any ties with anyone here. Of course he wouldn't go out of his way to harm them, but a little intimidation went along way. And if they planned to destroy the very thing that was keeping them moving and could fend off the other ship, and would not listen to reason? Well, he had no qualms about using his claws to make a point.
Aksaja muttered and grumbled as he worked on the weapons systems, trying to ignore the humans. Then he jumped when a voice suddenly spoke in his head, and froze as it talked, listening. Once it was done, he stood calmly for a couple of minutes. To be honest, he didn't really care one way or the other for the captain. But that whole bit about being slaves even if they handed the captain over? Nope. Not happening.
He continued to pretty much ignore the humans, only vaguely noticing when one of them left to apparently help fix something else. Good, more room for him. Tch.
.... But then another smaller creature made her way into the room, bringing the crowd back to the same number. Well. At least it seemed like others on this damned ship cared about actually fighting back. He could see that the systems were slowly coming back online. Thankfully, they seemed to be back above the minimum operating levels.
In fact, perhaps ... it was time to start fighting back. If they could do enough damage initially, then the other ship wouldn't be able to counterattack as easily. Best defense is a strong offense and all that. "Here we go," the lizard-like alien growled and Aksaja jabbed quickly at every single button that he figured would fire a weapon of any sort.

When the girl hitting stuff with a wrench didn't reply, or appear to even hear anyone talking to her, Jana decided maybe the best course of action was to just ignore her. Try to fix some other part of the engines. If the others wanted to try and restrain wrench-girl or whatever that was cool.
Before she could seriously start working, though, a voice boomed into her head. Jumping, she slapped hands over her ears ineffectually. She was used to Arda talking to her but he was usually fairly quiet and not all ... weird and overpowering. Speaking of which... "Did you hear that too, Arda?" she murmured.
came the instant reply. She could tell that the normally lazy personality in the weapon was actually suddenly on high alert. They both fell quiet during the captain's announcement, then Jana shook her head slowly.
"I definitely agree. But I have no idea what the status of any of the other ship systems are. In any case... we need to be able to move no matter what." So saying, she grabbed a tool and started trying to do repairs as best she could. She really hoped someone else would also help fix it. I mean, how many people did it take to control one person with a wrench?
(( Option 2/3 - because she doesn't really know that anyone else is attacking she is just focusing on repairing the engines ))

It took a while for Kyle's eyes to adjust to the darkness, to make out both Ern and Zelfos' forms as well as verify that Ern was indeed in a pretty bad shape. Before he could ask Ern to give him a breakdown of his injuries, he heard the door slide open behind him, turning to stare at 1YAR-1 who had popped in, greeted and pointed something that looked like a gun at them and then left as quickly as she came.
"We'll be fine..?"
He blinked, pondering for a moment over what was the gun-like object that the humanoid was pointing at them earlier. A bio scanner? If it was something like that, it probably wasn't working very well given that she just walked right out on them despite Ern's current condition.
"If you're going to sit there and gape instead of making yourself useful, how about giving me a hand here or dragging Mister I'm Tougher Than This to the Medbay lest he bleeds out on us all here. Somehow I doubt the Captain will appreciate having a body here in the Shield Generator room given how flammable bodies can be. Volatile even depending on the body fluid composition..."
Semaj remarked dryly from his corner even as he continued working on repairing the shields together with Zelfos.

She was thrilled that the weapons were ready. She saw the Ssi-ruu pushing away at potential fire buttons and smiled. She scratched her head before her tail sprang upward. “Oh! What if they try to get away? We’ll need the engines running if we need to chase their sorry asses down,’ she snarled as she ran to the Engine Room.
She definitely wasn’t an expert on engines, so she just looked for anything leaking and taped it shut. She looked around and punched anything that looked like it was sticking out of place. She grinned proudly at her handiwork. “Now we can really crush that high and mighty mind-intruder! They’re probably just some cocky child or a sentient cactus anyways," she babbled loudly.

Deciding he had backtracked enough, Zelfos began to untangle the wires and look for any that were showing signs of being stripped or damaged so that tape could be found and they could be wrapped up.
"The sparks came from here. Either there is a broke wire...maybe more than one...or something is loose up in here," the golem stated crawling deeper into the wires relying on his rocky hide to protect him from the heat and electricity.
"Be careful Zelfos," Ern sighed. Sometimes his partner was reckless, but his intentions were not that misplaced. The human took a moment and looked over his battered body. The burns from the wires either bled or started rising into angry red welts. The bruises on both shins, Zelfos was solid and always in the way, were turning a midnight purple. The blood on his clothes, most of it not his, began to dry and stink.
"What a day," the human grunted turning to the other's companion who somewhat addressed him, "And I am not dead yet. Where do you get off with a nickname like that? I'll go to the medbay when we are finished here."
"His head has more rocks in it than mine," snickered Zelfos from his place among the wires earning him a cold glare from his partner. --------

ACT III :: AND BEYOND
It began quietly, first crawling its way on the floor before creeping up the walls. All too soon the low rumble and chatter of metal striking metal reverberated throughout the SS Arcadia II as it began to shake. Clusters of small lights gathered outside the ship at various places. Some were above windows, others at the tips of long spear-like projections that decorated the ship.
The vile presence was there again in the back of your mind. Its contempt slipped and slurped at the edges of your thoughts, burbling and laughing at the very thought of you and your crew standing up to it.
WEAPONS STATUS// 84/100! ROLL TOTAL: 111 THE ATTACK...
...FAILED:
You watch as multiple rays of light tear away from the space ship and race across the dark space towards the other ship. You watch in frozen horror as the rays of light are absorbed harmlessly by the ship.
THE ENEMY SHIP...
...FIRED.
Perhaps you were watching when the enemy ship fired at the ship. Perhaps you weren't. What couldn't be denied were the beams of light that raced towards the ship.
SHIELDS STATUS// 85/100! THE SHIELDS...
...HELD.
But just barely. Each beam of light caused a ripple similar to a rock being thrown into a pond as it hit the shield. As the last one hit, the shields shattered.
SHIELDS STATUS// 0/100! THE SHIELDS HAVE BEEN BROKEN! THE SS ARCADIA II...
...FLED.
The familiar high-pitched shriek of the warp drive cuts like a knife through the alien's telepathic messages as the stars become ribbons of light. In the blink of an eye and with a lurch, the ship comes to a sickening stop in a new part of the galaxy, away from the encounter.
You're alive. For now.

You are alive.
It could be a fluke, or it could be that your character is simply that tenacious. Hero, coward, unfortunate innocent that just barely made it out of there -- it doesn't matter. What matters is that you made it.
But the question is.... what now? Does your character continue the journey? Do they steal the only escape pod on the ship and cut their losses? Whatever the case may be, tell your ending. Your epilogue. Whether it's happily ever after or ends in tragedy, what matters is that its yours.

Each time the lasers from the enemy ship hit, the shields rippled and shook... until they were no more. The shield generator gave one last sigh before falling silent. The ship itself didn't shake as the lasers pounded into the outer hull, but it certainly did when the missiles struck.
In the matter of moments, the SS Arcadia II was nothing more than space debris.

You have to avert your gaze as the enemy ship lights up the darkness of space with the sheer amount of weaponry it has. You can hear several explosions, and yet... the ship holds firm. You can hear the shouts from the crew. The engines were down; the shields were down; the weapons were down... All that remains are the life support systems.
LIFE SUPPORT STATUS// 66/100! THE LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM...

It was over.
Red warning lights lit up the SS Arcadia as stale oxygen began to fill the space ship. It was only a matter of time before the crew would suffocate; you can hear the alien jeering in your mind, laughing and taking enjoyment in your suffering.
BUT YOU...
...DIDN'T NEED OXYGEN.
You watch in growing horror as your crew mates suffer. Perhaps there are other non-organics on board, perhaps not. What matters is that you are among the last ones standing.
And that, of course, meant free run of the ship. If they disabled the entire ship, it could only mean that they were preparing to board and take anyone remaining prisoner, then systematically destroy the ship for scrap. You were familiar with the tactic -- it was one you employed several times yourself. You prepare yourself as best as you can, and you wait.

The life support systems came to a quiet end. Then, with a series of soft clicks the systems came back on. The air had an odd, noticeable scent to it. To some it could have been pleasurable, others offensive, and yet --
Wasn't there someone messing with the life support system? You recall that there were two sisters among the crew who had an unusual ability. You try to recall them -- they weren't fighters. They would sneak in and go straight for the life support systems, draining its power. Sometimes they would... alter them...

Should your heart also desire to enter for all three quills, you may certainly do so. Please bear in mind that you can only win one and that you must also write 400 words for each prompt. The more words you write, the better...
I'd like to take a moment to thank you all for joining me on this ORP! It was fun to tell a story again -- especially to see how all of you handled what I tossed at you! I'd like to apologize for how rushed the end was -- unfortunately for me, IRLs blindsided me a bit towards the end. The good news is that everything that didn't make it into this ORP has been saved for the future; please look forward to it!
At this point, all that's left is to write what's essentially a closing solo for your character. You'll need to read through the above CYOA spoiler tags to get your ending prompt, however.

MISC:
The following Quills are available from this GM ORP:
Quote:
gaia_crownQuill of Reflection: This quill allows the user to clone themselves. While sometimes this is absolutely bizarre and weird, sometimes it is absolutely normal in that narrative setting. The clone has the same traits as the original user but only lasts in book form till the end of the prp/opr.
gaia_crownQuill of Grief: This quill influences the emotions of other players. Using this quill will immediately cause other characters to notice your character, but in the tragic hero/heroine sort of situation where they can't help but feel bad and sorry for you. This can only be used once per rp per day.
gaia_crownQuill of Pride:This allows the user to get 2 pages per day instead of one for being a part of a prp over the 600 word limit. The more the merrier!
DUE TO THE EVENT END DATE, THE QUILL OF PRIDE HAS BEEN GIVEN A NEW EFFECT:
gaia_crownQuill of Pride: This glittery quill allows the user to, once an RP, gain a glittery aura that lasts for 600 words. As soon as you hit your 600th word from when you began the effect, the glitter disappears.
You can enter for more than one, however please note that you can only win one. In order to enter for more than one, simply write three solos applicable to each prompt -- you'll need to navigate through the CYOA tree to find them, however...
YOU HAVE UNTIL 8PM PST ON 12/18/2016 TO GET YOUR SOLO IN!
gaia_crown You MUST have written 400 words in the solo. The post formatting for the solo will not count towards your word total.

Thank you again for participating! I hope y'all had fun. :3

STATUS// DECEASED
*** The shields were back, a low humming coming from the generator. Ern grinned leaning his head back. Zelfos crawled free of the wires in time to hear the ship fire upon the other. The rockman tipped forward and tumbled awkwardly into the human's lap.
"What in the stars?" Ern hissed straining to stand. Zelfos could do nothing more than help support his legs as his human stubbornly ignored his body screaming for rest. It was almost comical, the silence that filled the room before the shields took the first return volley.
"Zelfos!" barked the human surging towards the generator ignoring the other person in the room in his momentary panic. The golem clambered onto the panel frantically pushing buttons to send more power to the damaged shields.
"Ern lad, I don't think... " the golem hissed, the machine hot under his hands, "I mean it was damaged in the beginning..." A sour expression covered his rocky features as he glanced into Ern's defiant gaze.
"No. We have to make it," the human stated. Just as he joined Zelfos next to the generator he heard the worst noise he could possibly imagine.
The shields shattered.
The generator groaned before exploding into a shower of metal bits, live wires, and sparks. Ern's eyes widened as he was propelled backwards. He felt metal and Zelfos slam into him, his vest not holding up to the barrage. Hot blood filled his mouth.
"Ern! Lad! "Zelfos cried out as he rolled back upright. His body had sustained massive damage as well, one of his arms gone. He rolled to Ern's side to watch in horror as blood drooled from his mouth thick and red. The human laughed, more of a cough, splattering flecks of blood on Zelfos' hide. Ern was shaking, heat escaping his body in waves.
"Well...we messed up," chuckled Ern. Zelfos gave a weak laugh knowing that the end was coming. Bits of the generator glimmered metallic in his face and throat and Ern had the feint bruising of electricity racing in his veins. There was no coming back out of this.
"You messed up you mean," hissed the rockman, "You didn't take your happy butt to the medbay..." He was silenced by a weak hand covering his mouth.
"It would not have mattered in the end. I tried to save my comrades. I am happy in that fact. Zelfos... I..." Ern breathed. Suddenly his eyes glazed over, their vibrant color going dull.
"YOU WHAT YOU WORM!? YOU USELESS...YOU...you..." Zelfos screamed pounding his good hand against Ern's corpse. The rockman was vibrating with fatigue as the ship pulled free of the battle. Ern was gone in the moments it took them to flee. With a low earthy rumble, the golem settled against his still warm partner.
"Ern...lad...I'm tired...mind if I rest for a moment...justhold up a moment...." He closed his eyes to the thrashing wires, the smell of mechanical failure, and mass chaos, curled against the cooling form of his partner... ***

Camilla had joined because she felt their cause was worthy... She was a warrior at heart, and had been trained not only in the martial arts, but the fencing arts as well. Due to her martial arts training, she also seemed to have some control over her bodily energies. Nobody knew exactly how, but they think it's some kind of psychic manipulation that comes with the training she underwent. In fact, because she had learned how to control her bodily energies so well that it allowed her to boost her strength and attacking power, she caught the eye of many scientists...
It was no secret slave traders farmed the Dormouse Monster's home planet, and many scientists viewed them as nothing more then lab mice for studying... This was why Camilla was a mercenary; why she traveled around doing odd jobs while simultaneously avoiding those who wished to study her... That's how she ended up on this stolen ship... She hadn't taken part in the blood bath that was the elimination of the previous crew, she had helped the more computer savvy members of the crew get to where they needed to go.
Despite all the sorry and darkness she lived through, Camilla is a surprisingly cheerful girl with spunk to match! This seemed to surprise most of her crew mates as she, despite her child at heart and playful nature, successfully helped them to where they needed to go!
Unfortunately... While things seemed to be going... Ok... A mysterious foe soon appears and gives them a rather... Unpleasant ultimatum... Become slaves? Betray their captain? Never! She had spent all this time avoiding slavery! There's no way she would just sacrifice her morals by handing over the captain and becoming a lab rat! No, she would fight it need be! Camilla had, long ago, made peace with herself, her choices, and the fact that death loomed around every corner. She couldn't be worried about dying in the midst of battle because that very well could be what gets her killed! Because of this fact, she was fully willing to die rather then become a slave!
With their weapons almost fully charged, Camilla stands by the captain's side. She was proud to see none of the crew had tried to mutiny, and even if they had, she would have fought to defend the captain! Luckily, for all their telepathy, the enemy couldn't read minds! The enemy ship had no idea the scrappy crew would defy what seemed like a fated destiny! With time running out, they couldn't wait for things to be fully recharged, so they simply decide to just fire and hope for the best! Fortunately, when their weapons were fired, it seemed to catch their opponent completely off guard! Unfortunately... They seemed to have hair trigger reactions...
Their panicked attacks hit the shields HARD causing them to ripple like water... Seeing this, Camilla knew it was a losing battle... Luckily, it seemed their warp was up! That gave them two options. They could stay and fight, (And likely die like fools or become slaves,) or they could flee with their valuable information and possibly do some good... The choice was a easy one to make! While Camilla would have been fully willing to die to prevent becoming a slave, she was no fool either and saw the value in life! If they could get away, then they should!
Soon, her sensitive ears pin back as the roar of the warp drive cuts in through the angry telepathic swearing of their enemies! In a blink, stars blurred together until the ship comes to a sickening lurch of a stop far far away from the battle! Camilla nearly face planted on the floor when the ship stopped and only prevented this by grabbing onto a nearby rail for dear life! She was never going to get used to that... After a few moments of waiting to see if anything bad would happen, she lets go of the rail and smiles... They did it... They'd escaped not only with their lives, but the important secret as well!
Raising her hardlight rapier into the air, she cheers: "Yay, yay! We did it! We will die another day!"
