He lifted his brows beneath the brim of his hat, pleased when the parrot returned -- and then obviously surprised.
"Oh?" he hummed, delighted. "Much obliged, darlin'." Leaning over, he pressed an impromptu kiss to the stallion's cheek, lofting the water with his own magic and taking a careful sip to not get it all over his fake beard.

His wings buzzed for a moment before he regained his composure. This dame was a whole new kind of phony! From the sounds of it, a phony that wasn't rollin' in dough, who just wanted to have a good time. The song changed, still overwhelmingly bass, but different enough from before that Crooner could step in time to it. Phonies adjusted to the song, and soon the crowd was moving right along like an ocean.
He reached his hoof up to grab the one at his chin, a flirtatious grin plastered on his face. Being (at least superficially) disguised added bravado to his already overflowing ego.
"Do I ever." he said, swinging his arm and spinning her around twice, his grin never leaving his face as he winked. "How's about I show you how to really swing?"
There were many responses Jolly Roger had been expecting - being kissed on the cheek was not one of them. It took some time to sink into his brain and when it did, it immediately short circuited most areas and all Jolly Roger was left with was the ability to give a very startled, “arrr!”. Some of his drink spilt on the floor.
Even though his first instinct about the cowboy had been one of dislike (okay, so he was still jealous about the better costume), he had to admit the big guy was annoyingly handsome and good with children. The former point of which he was only really noticing right now because his cheek had just been kissed and he was now blustering and blushing and feeling like a real fool.
Wait. He should probably be angry.
"Bilge rat! Do that again and I’ll..." JR trailed off, not really wanting to start threatening bodily harm in front of the children. "I’ll... I have to go." The parrot turned on the spot and marched himself away, not really going anywhere, just needing some distance.

On her way towards the punch, the draconic mare could feel a set of eyes upon her. This wasn't an usual sensation and one she often enjoyed; she liked attention and was even more pleased when she glanced back to catch the stare of a rather large cowboy stallion. Not only was there one handsome stallion by the punch, but two, as she noticed a green phony dressed up a parrot passing out punch.
That cinched it for her, Fantasia sauntered over toward the pair and cooly asked, " Always nice to find a tall drink of water at a party, but what's a mare got to do for a sti--". Fantasia had to stop herself, as she noticed the two small foals and correct her sentence before going too far with an innuendo "...steeped tea?"
Though looking at the now awkward parrot turning away, she wondered if she had made a mistake interrupted a couples spat.

Out of Orbit was not expecting a compliment. A blush soon tinted her cheeks, but she was able to stammer out her name.
"O-out of Orbit..." The delivery of her name was less than convincing.
Her eyes drifted to the floor, but eventually the filly seemed to snap back to reality when a question was vaguely directed at her.
"O-oh! R-right!" Her head bobbed up and down, acknowledging she was indeed okay. It was about that time her colorful friend returned with drinks for everyone. Displaying proper manners, she smiled to the parrot.
"Thank you, Jolly Roger!" For a moment, she could have swore she saw a smile. However, a single blink, and such a vision seemed to vanish. Maybe she imagined such an expression on the feathery stallion's face?
Politely, she took a couple sips from her cup, before managing to catch Jolly Roger sounding less-than-jolly (again). Before the filly could process anything going on between the cowboy and parrot, something approached, talking about drinks of water.
A scary dragon monster!
Letting out a loud squeak, Out of Orbit jumped a bit before scuttling behind the newly introduced Confetti Daze.

Rocky damn near choked on his water, putting it on the table with a wobble, grinning widely. "Hey, sweetheart, c'mon, it wasn't that bad...!" But the parrot -- Jolly Roger, his name apparently was -- had gone. If it weren't for the kid using him as a support, he'd quite have happily chased after. Probably too happily...
But the dragon he'd been admiring joined in about the same time, and damn if it wasn't like talking to himself. If he was a beautiful mare, anyway. (And wouldn't he be? He'd have to have dressed up as Asymmetric or whatever her name was.) "Buttercup, you sound like me, and that's a compliment and a nod to the danger you represent." Rocky flashed her a grin, offering his water to her. "It ain't tea, but our darlin' fella here took a dive bomb into the punch, so..."
It warmed him to see the girl - Out of Orbit, her name was - take to the boy. There'd be no bad blood, even if the poor dear did seem a bit scared of everything. "You protect her, Confetti Daze," he told the boy almost sternly, save for the wink he imparted to soften it. "She's a treasure and should be treated no less." Another wink was given to Out of Orbit - he had her back, even if she didn't need him just then.

Fantasia couldn't help but grin, the reaction she got from both bab and stallion was exactly what she aiming for when picking her costume. Although, in all honesty it was hard to tell if admiration and fear came from the costume or her wings; there were so few batwinged phonies around that the actress was never really surprised by 'aaaws' and 'aaaaahs'. Though there was a pang for scaring a child, not everyone knew the line between fantasy make up and reality.
"If that's a compliment, I'll take it, " she gratefully accepted the water. Fantasia raised her hoof and pushed her mask up to reveal more of her face and to take a sip. "I'm not that dangerous, at least not to a bab." Her wings bent in a little and the glow off her talons helped to illuminate her face enough for the kids to see her clearly and she smiled, "see? I bet any punch swimmers must be fearsome enough to keep even the loch ness monster away."

"What was that?" Boss Skill asked, watching the random photography phony run off after taking a picture of some other colt. "Are you some famous phony or somethin'?" He stuffed his face while at the same time piling a plate high with food from the table as he approached the orange foal.
The stranger seemed to be an Earth phony like himself but he had a hook over one hoof and his teeth appeared to be sharp. Boss raised a brow at him. "Jus' what're you suppose' ta be, anyway? Some sorta pirate werewolf?" He crunched loudly on a mouthful of chips as he proclaimed, "That's the lamest costume I've seen all night. And that's sayin' somethin', what with the dumb stuff I've seen."
For his part, Boss was rather proud of his own costume, store-bought as it was. He had had to remove the iconic helmet in order to eat and drink, but when he was fully outfitted, he was the character known as Master Chief from the video game, Halo.

"Um...s-sir?" a timid voice spoke up as a small, butterfly-masked filly noticed a brightly-plumaged unicorn wandering her way. "Are you okay?"
At first Delicacy had been frightened and wanted to find her mother or father or siblings, but then she had caught sight of the older phony's face behind his beak and feathers. He appeared pretty red-faced to her and she immediately worried for his health. "Umm...pardon me, but you look a little red. I hate to be nosy, but....is that costume maybe too hot for you?"
What should she do? Maybe she should check his temperature, but would he let her? Did she even have any business doing such a thing? At the very least, she could suggest a cool, damp cloth or something if he wasn't feeling well. She wasn't a doctor, but it seemed the sort of thing to do if one was hot enough to be running a fever.

Jolly Roger wasn’t running away. Pirates did not run from anything, except maybe giant sea monsters. It was the opposite, in fact. Everyone was supposed to run away from a pirate for fear of being plundered. What Jolly Roger was doing right now was a tactical retreat, away from that dumb grinning fool that thought he could just go ahead and kiss somebody.
He nearly stepped over the filly before her voice brought him up short, coming to a halt and looming over the purple toned youngster with the cute butterfly mask. At first he only scowled, mostly because he was still flustered and her noticing his blushing made it all the worse. Jolly Roger huffed and realised he was still in position of his drink cup, floating behind him. Except his lack of attention meant that he’d dropped the contents, a wet trail leading back to the small group he’d just left.
“Arrr,” he groaned.

"Be careful Peanut! You wouldn't want to choke on those cookies because you're dancing at the same time!" She screeched after the foal before following after the group. "Even if you're all grown up, that doesn't mean you can't ask for help! Caramell and I ask each other for help all the time!"
Wiggling her hips she turned towards their mer companion. "I think your costume is perfect! The skulls are so creative! It's totally original!" Paws giggled, glancing over towards the other dancers. "I bet you can shake a fin with the best of them. In fact you probably look even more elegant here because of that BEAUTIFUL tail!" She smiled.
As her sister pointed out the group by the punch bowl she gave a nod. "He is. DO YOU WANT ME TO ASK THE COWBOY TO DANCE WITH YOU?!" She screamed over the music.
"Be careful!" she laughed as she watched Peanut scoot to the dance floor with a face full of cookies.
"Well someone knows how to have a good time at least!" she mused before her cheeks tinged a soft pink. [bb]"Paws Button! Oh my gosh no don't you dare!" she half laughed, half lunged at her sister in a playful kind of tackle hug. The cowboy was busy gathering a crowed of his own as it were. The night was still young, there would be plenty of time later! She couldn't help but notice all the little foals here too though. And they all seemed to gather around the parrot and cowboy? What, did those two stallions stash some foalnip on em or something? "Those two sure are popular...maybe we need to go join the in crowed." she joked, nudging her sister with her elbow.

Confetti grinned as he was brought some water and quipped up at the parroty-pirate, "Well thank ye kindly sir!" Downing the drink as quickly as he could, he had barely gotten down the last mouthful before a new phony arrived on the scene-- and boy was her costume amazing. He barely even noticed Jolly leaving as the new lady sauntered over...
"Woooooah... yer like a skeleton-demon-queen! I lik--- oh... huh?" he had started yammering at Fantasia, up until little Out of Orbit ducked behind him. It was kinda cute really...
Turning with surprise and concern writ on his face, he looked down at the little filly, "Uh... Orbit...? It's okay... uhm..." He looked up at Rocky with confusion, but then puffed out his chest as the adults complimented him. Sitting there in his wet camo with his helmet askew, he straightened his shoulders and looked back at Orbit, "Ya! I'll protect ye! I'm a fearsome... uh... surpriser! Nothing will get ya so long's I'm around ta surprise the monsters away!" He gave a small giggle and looked down at the filly hopefully, wondering if he could manage to make her laugh.

Rocky watched how the mare interacted with the two babbens and smiled, hoping Out of Orbit would see her for what she was -- in costume, the same as he was. The idea that she might actually think he was a cowboy crossed his mind, and true to form, he really had no objections to it. He could be thought of as worse. In fact, he was pretty sure he'd already made a sour impression.
The draft glanced over to see where the parrot had gone, but in the strobe lights and the darkness around it, he couldn't pick out the multi-colored Jolly Roger. Exhaling slowly, he returned his attention to the three, hoping the kids would find some sort of safety in each other's presence. He was definitely not an ideal babysitter...

Where as it all seemed fun and games to the rest of the Phonies, Out of Orbit could not say she saw this party as fun or games so far. The cowboy seemed to be treating the little Filly with silk gloves, and truth be told, it was probably the appropriate way to deal with her.
Out of Orbit couldn't understand how everyone could be so casual when a scary dragon was right there.
A scary dragon that said she wasn't that dangerous?
Peering one large blue eye to take a peak over Confetti Daze's rump, she saw what looked like the face of a mare. Cautiously she lifted her head up so two eyes could see the mare-dragon. The Filly didn't dare say one word, not certain what to make of the situation. Though her Colt-friend seemed to be making a joke, she didn't seem too interested in laughing.
What was this dragon?

It was actually his second time seeing a merphony up close. his first encounter was just a bab like himself. the one nearby was a full grown adult and quite good at custom dress up.
Peanut looked at the sisters again and agreed with what they said. standing still for a moment, he finished chewing whatever cookies were left inside his mouth and ran back to them. "You guys are looking at that popular brown phony too? Right?"
Looking over his shoulder, he wondered what it was like to be surrounded by phonies and still attracting such a huge crowd.
"what do you think they are doing there? I think i see a green pirate...bird..?" just what is that standing beside the cowboy? it is green and feathery
