Finally after numerous stops and bandit attacks Noa arrived in Cheydinhal. At first he didn't believe what he saw. The city was almost comletely destroyed, and a huge creature was dead in the middle of the city. "Oh great just great...this was my favorite city." Noa shifted in the sadle as Choke galloped toward where the stable used to be.

((All right, I can't stand this. Bytbyt, I hate telling other people what to do, but at least this time I don't have to worry about being banned.

You will improve, or you will be put on this roleplay's blacklist. Take all offense intended, because your roleplaying is so bad that Barton Town wouldn't accept you. It's not hard. Read what other people have to say. You don't report back to Norid. Your character shouldn't have any idea where he went! He's about two miles away from Cheydinhal! Describe what happened. Did you talk to the guards? Did the guards agree? What was the conversation like? What did Cheydinhal look like as you stepped past the broken bodies and shattered rubble? What did your character think or say?

You need to describe going in and speaking to the guards. And if your character did manage to find Norid, you need to describe how he saw him! You didn't even have a period at the end of your sentence, or a comma to signal the conjunction!

I know that not everyone here(probably not anyone), is a grammar-master. I am certainly not. But even if you lack punctuation, you shouldn't lack the imagination to describe what is happening around your character. Because if you can't, you shouldn't be here.))

((Sorry about any confusion as to where I was. No map, equals no idea what so ever about where the hell things are. I've not exactly memorized that, so I tried to have it make sense as I went to the Stables. I've the map now, so I'll be able to at least make... better decisions about directions and what not.))

As Zakkon approached, he noticed Norid's stance turning almost unnoticeably more confident, and his face took on the slight hint of a cocky smirk.

"Good", he thought, "looks like it worked perfectly. Once he figures himself to have the upperhand in the negotiations, I can almost certainly count on him to lower his guard. Wonderful."

He continued to approach, acting as if he was edgy, nervous almost. His voice had a tiny waver in it, the subtlest hint of fear. "Understand Norid, I needed a way to easily get your attention. Your brother and yourself were so easily ready to turn to violence that I needed to find a better way to cut down on your aggression. Needless to say, kidnapping your brother may have lead you to jump to conclusions, but I had no intention of hurting either of you, ("For now at least", he thought).

"I want you more than to just help me hunt him down, I want you to help me kill him as well. I was hoping for your brother's help as well, but if the Hunter was after him, then the Hunter already has him."

"The only other thing I want is information. First and foremost, perhaps you could tell me what my Lady meant when She gave me the warning: Sable from Red, and Death from Sable.
May your Family forever bear this Label."

"All she told me was to kill this Hunter, and to seek your help. She told me little else, but what I've said. Perhaps you might be so kind as to tell me exactly what she meant by this warning."

In the shock of seeing the city destroyed Noa forgot to stop Choke. The horse only stoped at the stables. Only then did Noa notice two strange persons talking just a few feed away.

(Hang about. I could've sworn Norid was talking to my character. Hell, it even says his name in the post. Anyways, sorry about being gone. PC troubles, and I'm doing this from a friend's computer.)

With a nod, Viriathos set off for Cheydinhal. He entered the gate to find the town in ruin. What in the name of Mora...? the mercenary murmured as he looked around. Smoking buildings and ashen rubble was all that remained of the town, save for the odd resident. No sign of the guardsmen. Well, that's bloody typical, isn't it? Viriathos went for a wander, wondering if he could find someone of importance. Looks like the captain was nowhere to be seen. What am I going to tell the Argonian, then...?

The Imperial heaved open the gate and hopped onto his horse, setting back off in the direction of Norid, when he noticed Noa by the stables. Wait, he wasn't there before... was he? Maybe the Imperial was in that much of a rush to warn the guard captain... remaining in his horse's dark grey saddle, Viriathos watched the figure quietly.

"The Hunter's name is unknown to me. I know someone who can help, but he is deep in the Jerall Mountains. His name is Seth Frindae. He is a... scholar, of sorts. He is also very paranoid, eccentric, and he hates Bosmer and Argonians. Inconvenient, but I have spoken to him before. He is not what you would expect, and if you want any answers, you'll have to follow every order that I give. You will work for me, and I will not accept any laziness from a filthy Vampire.

"As for the rhyme, it is worth mentioning. I'm amazed that your Lady knows of such things, but that is not an answer that is to be given yet. I want to know of one thing though, Zakkon Deathblade. Who is this "Lady" you speak of, and why does she want the Hunter dead? He's only a threat to those that anger him. And if she angered him, it is too late. There is one thing that could be done to get to the house in the Jerall much more quickly.

"Drac'rad has a house in Anvil. It is connected to another dimension, known as 'The Depths.' I can guarantee you that the path through the Jerall will be safer, but the path through the Depths will be faster. There are monsters and traps that you have never seen, and nothing makes sense in that place. You can walk through a wooden door and come out of a giant metal gate on the other side. Lava, blades that swing from invisible ceilings, and endless passageways that lead to nowhere. Trolls forged in Oblivion itself, Xivilai from the ranks of Mehrunes Dagon, and the reanimated corpses of dead Adventurers lie in wait for the unwary. But it leads up to one final result: A chest that contains a large gem that teleports you to the catacombs of Seth's lair. It will not be easy, but it is possible.

"I'll leave it up to you. Tell me the answers to my questions, and then tell me which path you would rather take. The three-week journey through the wastelands of the Jerall, or an eight-hour quest through the Depths? However, two people cannot get through that place. I've cleared the place out twice, and the enemies still come back as though nothing happened. There is one enemy in there that you cannot begin to fathom. Sindoren is his name, and he is an ancient Ogre. The one who created the Depths."

He sighed, and pulled out a flask that had been hanging at his hip. "I may as well get this out of the way. Besides, my vampirism would have only slowed us down in the end." He quickly drank the potion. Soon, the vitality of his face returned as his bone structure sorted itself back into its normal form. "Specially prepared cure for Prophyric Hemophilia. Few know of it, and even fewer have it."

He turned and faced Drac'rad, and responded, "Let's get one thing straight right now. Maybe I'm asking for your help, but I won't be playing servant to some Argonian with a superiority complex. If you feel it's necessary to make me be a subordinate, fine whatever you need to make yourself feel big. I'll follow your orders if you won't go into this as equals, but I won't become a slave to your every whim."

He snickered quietly to himself, and thought, "So my friend, you don't know as much about me as your demeanor would suggest. That's good, that's very good."

To Drac'rad, he said, "I'm glad that you feel the rhyme is worth mentioning, but perhaps you could explain it to me. By itself, it does me no good, but if it might aid us in defeating the Hunter, then it could be rather important to know. My Lady doesn't tell me things for no reason."

"However, don't ever be surprised by what my Lady knows, it's not your place to question the knowledge of a goddess. As for who she is, she is and forever shall be the patron goddess of the Deathblades. It is she who saw fit to give us our power, and it is she who decides when to welcome us into her loving embrace. As for why she wants The Hunter dead, who may profess to know the reasoning of the Gods? Not I, and not anyone, though I assure you that she's in no danger if she has threatened him."

"Speed is more important than safety at the moment. You profess to be skilled in the ways of combat, and seeing you in combat I'll admit that I'm impressed. However, if you can make it, I'm certain I can make it. That's more than bravado my friend, the Lady hasn't yet seen fit to take me from this world, so I'm still infused with all the might of the Deathblades. That's more than enough to get me through in one piece."

((Sormani, I'll be using a mixture of stealth/speed/fighting skills I'd have no ability to even come close to using in the game, (i.e. flips and the like), so if there's something such as a "key only chest/door", please tell me.))

((That's the cool thing about roleplaying. It improves the unrealistic portions of the game. Flips and such are fine. I intended to use that already.))

"Well, I'm offended that you think that me, an Argonian, would allow myself to slip into the disgusting practice of slavery. I merely tell you that you will be following my orders because if you don't, you'll likely die. If you take one wrong step, you will die in that place. It is a dimension that even the twisted mind of Boethia would find too vile to put any living creature through. There are secrets yet to be uncovered, and things that have been.

"I have no problem with letting you die in there, but you need to understand that those that die don't leave. Your soul doesn't leave the Depths. You become one of the defenses that guards the teleportation gem. If the place doesn't drive you insane while you're alive, it'll drive you to insanity when you discover that no matter how many times you die, you will be resurrected in service of Sindoren.

"However, if you will not give me information on this Goddess of yours, than I will give you no information on that rhyme. Of course, when we get to Seth, he'll give us both the answers that we want. He knows more than anyone I've ever met, and I've met with the best scholars of Cyrodiil. Maybe in High Rock or Summerset Isle, someone might have a bigger library of knowledge, but I doubt it. Seth has half of the Jerall Mountains to fit his lair. He works underground, and he does it for a reason. Many want him dead. Fortunately, there are only two ways in. Hermaeus Mora can transport you into the Main Chambers, or you can go through the Depths and get teleported into the Catacombs. If you are familiar with the labyrinthine halls of Seth's fortress, the Depths are the best bet. Otherwise, you go to the Jerall with an Invitation directly from Seth.

"As I said, we will need more people. Any adventurers that we might find in Cheydinhal can accompany us. Do you agree to work with others?"

Noa wached the two persons talk. He couldn't hear what they were saying but they seemed serious. Then Noa felt that somebody was waching him. Unmounting Choke he looked around.

"As long as you understand fully that I won't follow your every foolish whim, then I'll gladly do what you order. I'm the one who came and asked for your help, so following your orders makes perfect sense."

"Don't worry about me too much. It's really in your best interest to keep me from becoming one of the Depth's defenses. I assure you that I'd be quite troublesome to defeat. However, since I don't really believe I'm going to end up dieing there, you haven't a need to worry about me all that much."

"As for other adventurers however, they may become more of a problem than an aid. As long as you pick useful enough people, then I'll have no problem working with them."

"Understand that my Lady is a mysterious Goddess. Little is known about her, even to the Deathblades. I will however, tell you what I am able. You see, I've actually been in her presence before. Blinded, silenced, fighting frost, shock and fire damage, I said a quick prayer to my Lady, and fell to the deck of the ship I'd been fighting on."

"As I came to, I found myself in an ethereal realm, a realm of fog and obscure shapes. I'd believed myself to have entered Oblivion, and prepared for an eternity of torture, when my Lady arrived."

"I warn you now, never seek her out, for if you do, you'll never return, though she may not lift a hand to strike you. Her beauty and power will bring you to your knees, and the second you glimpse into her amethyst eyes, your will to escape will forever leave you. However, there's more than just beauty to her. Underneath her unmarred flesh and radiant face lies a deadly force. If anyone crosses her, they're bound to die. Intelligent beings know better than to mess with the gods."

"As for her part with the Deathblades, we are truly her children. I refuse to give you our full history. Only the current Deathblade may be privy to such knowledge. I will tell you this however, from the day we are granted the powers, until the day we are destined to pass them on, she is watching us and leading our actions. She will not welcome her into her loving embrace until it is truly our time to go."

"Hopefully this will sate your curiosity. Now that I've fulfilled my end of the bargain, perhaps you could now explain that rhyme to me."

((Alright, this is a weak post, but it's currently about two in the morning here and I won't be able to fix it up until around four or five tomorrow. Hopefully it's not so weak that you won't be able to work off of it.))
PostPosted: Wed Jun 28, 2006 12:57 am

"So you're a warped Dark Brotherhood. Interesting. As I said, Seth might even know more than you, and he certainly knows more about the rhyme than I do. The rhyme depicts a side-effect of the murder of another Argonian. Nearly every member of my family has been born with a combination of red and black scales. However, in come cases, they are born with only red scales. As rare as it is, it has happened enough to warrant a name, and those in my family that are born with only red scales are called "Bloodscales." Shadowscales run through our family, but that is not the name for one of my family born with only black scales, since that has never happened. "Shadowscale" is a Dark Brotherhood term, and is merely an Argonian born under the sign of the Shadow.

"However, when we kill another Argonian, either in cold-blooded murder or in self-defense, one of our scales rots. Red turns black. It's the equivalent of your race's "Necrosis". The scales aren't eaten by away by magic, but they turn black. We can still use them, but when too many of our scales turn black, we die. The only reason that those of my family, almost all of which are murderers, don't die by the time we are forty is that we are reptilian. If we had soft flesh, the magic of our curse probably would eat away our skin. However, our scales have very little value except to protect us from weak attacks. Blood doesn't run through our skin like yours does, so even when the scale rots, it doesn't bother an Argonian.

"The only upside is that we are otherwise immortal. You could stab me now, and I would likely die. In terms of age, on the other hand, I could live forever if I never killed another Argonian. But the curse compells my family to. I am a Shadowscale, and I am sworn to serve the Dark Brotherhood. I take any contract, Argonian or not.

"Now, there are two people over there that are watching us. I suggest that they become the other two that accompany us. We can't have the location of the Depths revealed, and if either of them heard us, it could easily be used against us."

Norid didn't realize that they could have been listening to the last part of his comment, and that, if Noa and Viriathos had been listening, they would know that the information could be used against them.

((Dam I'm sleepy))
Looking around Noa noticed Viriathos. The Imperial was the one watching him... and Noa didn't like that.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 28, 2006 4:07 pm

His eyes narrowed, "Careful friend, comparing my Lady to the Brotherhood's Dark Mother is bordering on an insult. Our order is far different from the Brotherhood's senseless infatuation with murder.

"I'll certainly go further into depth, rather than have someone who's potentially important to us risk my Lady's wrath. Even though Seth knows vital information regarding the Hunter, my Lady would rather see him dead than have him giving away information regarding herself and her order."

"Before I do however, know this. First of all, those two men over there who've been watching us, they'll have to be disposed of before I say anything. Not necessarily killed, so much as... taken away for a bit. Secondly, you must promise to never reveal what I'll be saying to you to another person, without exception! I don't care if it's your brother, your clan leader or your next victim, you will be honor-bound to take this information to your grave."

"Hmm, a touching story, but not necessarily helpful at this point. At least, I have no idea how the rhyme applies to the Hunter. However, perhaps this Seth can reveal this to us."

Is there something bothering you? Viriathos patted his horse on the neck as it stumbled about a bit, obviously uneasy about something. Beneath the masque, the Imperial wore a half-scowl as he continued his attempts to discern whether Noa was friend or foe. Well? If you can, speak.
