"She is, I'm sure of it," Chris said, leaning in to look at the notebook. A majority of it was new to him and he read quickly, switching to Nathaniel's napkin before long. "I didn't know some of this, it's helpful," He remarked, taking the pen from the notebook and then adding his own information that wasn't a repeat.
"Her servants are..." Chris trailed off, giving Gloom a stroke before finally saying, "The masked ones are the worse of them. They're copies and they're all... less than pleasant. The originals.. don't remember us."
He was quiet, uncomfortable and unhappy again and he stroked Gloom once more. "Thorne has a mask now though. I made sure of it. You can tell the two apart because the other one, the copy, he has... he has bruises around his neck."

Lady accepts the mask, and dons it while Algernon is speaking to Jeremiah. Her hands shake, as if she's breaking something sacred, some kind of taboo, but the tension goes out of her shoulders once it's tied neatly within her braids.
"Masking us is only part of it," says Lady to the group assembled. Her voice wavers. "The doubles must be unmasked, also. You have to narrow down the field."
The look on Jeremiah's face when Algie whispered into his ear about Shun getting into a fight with the Spinel Lady was a combination of both annoyed and frustrated. It was a little early for them to be tipping their hands and ruining their favor with the patrons.
Krasnya was taking the mask however and he gave her a smile, one of relief, as it was slipped on. The news about the doubles, however, put a knot back in his stomach. "We will need to take their masks and remove them from play, I think, otherwise we'll likely just be creating more trouble for ourselves. I don't imagine they're going to take kindly to us removing the masks."
Finally - finally! - Jeremiah reaches out and settles a hand on top of Lady's. It is brief and his touch is, for the moment, warm as he squeezes her hand. The fox max on her face is oddly appropriate. "Is there anything else you can tell us that will help us deal with the masked doubles, Krasnya? To watch out for?"
Plum room. Two people confirmed it, and one had even told him where to look. In the globe. Blessed be the spirit, (even if he did marginally feel sad he couldn't be of more help to them), but hey. Tonight, someone was slated to die. And while he was trying very hard to ignore that, he was also trying is best to help.
Not that he'd learned much or gained a lot of information. He was rather terrible at this whole 'socializing' thing and frankly he was certain that eventually someone would talk to him and he'd not know what to say and make a fool of himself and want to crawl into a hole and die.
Metaphorically.
Not actually.
A very important distinction to be sure.
Now it was just a matter of sneaking to the globe, opening it if he could, and taking the scotch because he was pretty sure if it was IN the globe, it was hidden for a reason and it was probably because it was the good stuff. To that effect, Marcus was glad that in the Plum Parlor he did have a friend who could help with his quest.
"Gloom." He walked over, smiling. "I have a secret to share with you. And maybe a favor to ask."
Between Chris talking about the duplicates, and Lady's speaking of them, it was obvious they needed to be handled if they even hoped to try and bring their friends home. Hopefully she could give him some advice on the matter.
"Anything else Chris? About them. Do we know... what they are exactly? Do we know how this happened?" He couldn't remember seeing any of them around in a while but it wasn't exactly like he was the most fluttery social butterfly.
The journal, accepted back, was then offered to Nathaniel to glance over the additions from Chris.

Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - dadsquadding it up
The information exchange thankfully went smoothly, with no comment as to the state of Nathaniel's poor, ragged napkin. He folded its smeared and blurry edges neatly until it was once again a square, then tucked it back into his pocket for safekeeping.
A frown tugged at Nathaniel's lips as he listened to Chris. He hadn't seen any of the doubles himself firsthand - at least, he thought he hadn't, but Nathaniel didn't know anyone well enough to tell if someone's personality was off, unless you counted Jeremiah and Algernon. And since neither of them seemed off the walls, he had to count them as their normal selves.
He accepted the journal from Algernon, Nathaniel glancing down at it to read over Chris's new information. His head lifted, however, at the voice of the red Lady, and Nathaniel's frown became more pronounced as he looked at her.
You have to narrow down the field.
"What about...is it possible to take the masks from the doubles and give them to their, uh...regular counterparts?" Nathaniel asked, with a glance at Chris's distraught expression. "I've seen one or two people that look like they're human walking around without masks. If the doubles aren't the real deal, can we swap them for whoever doesn't have a mask?"

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Dadsquad continues to grow
Chris looked over to the Lady, giving her a considering look before he nodded. It would be easier said than done, getting the doubles unmasked, but he would try.
Chris tapped his chin, considering what he knew. "All I know is that the originals, they've been here for a long time and haven't... haven't had the best time. The doubles have been in place ever since the originals came back and they're here tonight for some reason. I don't know. I think the plan is after tonight, the doubles take the place of the originals... forever. If they succeed, anyways. But I'm not sure what they are, or how they even happened."
He looked at Nathaniel, a wry smile on his lips. "You can, actually. That's what I did for Thorne. We made a.. a deal." There was a bit of a silence after that as he tried to keep himself from thinking about it too hard. What was done, was done. "But yes, you can trade the masks. If you can get them to hand it over, anyways. It's not hard to tell the doubles apart from the originals, either."
