AMINAH Post 3

Aminah nodded to Jerarda, appreciative for the help. They managed to wrangle their way to the food stalls, and then even managed to get everyone something that they liked to eat before sitting down at a table. It was a basically a miracle.

Aminah nibbled on her sauced stick of maglardilla meat. It really was very delicious, she could see why the Alkidike chose to eat it so much. She watched her family before she saw that others were gathering their things for the lanterns. "We should work on our lanterns while we eat." She suggested. It was definitely new to all of them, she couldn't help but think. Aminah was raised in Tale, even though she was half shifter, and Jerarda was Alkidike. But living in Jauhar with their children, it was only fitting that they get to experience their shifter heritage as well.

JHANA Post 3

Jhana felt like justice had been served when both of her mom's agreed that they wouldn't be playing games. She couldn't imagine asking for more after their parents had already let them just come at all, they were supposed to be grounded after all. She might have had a lot of fun in Oba, but she knew that she needed to finish her time served before she agreed to any more crazy ideas again.

They all were able to get food, Jhana choosing to try a stew made of nondwa meat and vegetables. It was very good, sweet almost, with a hint of spice. She felt like she should have probably gotten a drink while she was at it, she could feel her lips starting to burn from the flavors. Her mama suggested getting their lantern supplies and Jhana couldn't have agreed more. "And we stop for some water while we're up?" She asked. The others had gotten their drinks, but Jhana hadn't expected to need one. She put a finger to her sore lips, anything to cool them down.

Drexl- Post 6

Drexl nodded as he finished up his lantern. Turning to his brother he fiddled with his arrowhead pendant, wondering if he should go trinket hunting again sometime. Really it was fun. He smiled softly before he slid back to lean against the tree. Waiting for his brother to finish.

Damissan
Post: 4

Damis skidded to a quick and abrupt stop as Xilarn moved directly into his path and—

bowed.

He stared for a moment. Of course, he understood the joke in it, teasing, derisive, even (arguably), but Damissan chose to ignore that potential, and let the corner of his lip quirk up instead with amusement.

“I don’t think you’ve ever bowed to me before once,” he noted offhandedly. “It’s a good look for you. And I like the way you say ‘sire.’” Damis flashed his teeth, and followed after his company with a curious sound. “Decades,” he repeated. “You have been around for so many of them, I suppose…? I shouldn’t be surprised it’s been as long. But still, you seem…”

He glanced in the direction Xilarn did and blinked. Icelings were a novelty. Though travellers did come to Oba from all over, Zenan natives were a distinct rarity, and all but alien to him. Not to mention, this particular one looked distinctly displeased with—well, something. If Xilarn opted to pay him no mind, however, it didn’t seem worth Damis’ time to concern himself.

He tipped his attention back to where it had been. “Ignoring the part where it’s you who frequently accuse me of childishness added to the fact that you just said, ‘I only wanted it because you had it…’ aloud…I do have a good many things worthy of envy, so I suppose I can continue to complain about the injustice if that makes it taste sweeter.”

Sol

The time had finally come, the lanterns were ready and almost everyone had finished writing and drawing their prayers out. Parents helped their younglings light their own lanterns, then lighting their own prayers. The procession of people had to venture out onto the branches of the large Jauhar trees to hang their lights in the canopy.

Once finished, the lights could be seen all around the village of Sol, the glowing orbs surrounding the city with warmth. It was beautiful to look at.

Lixes - Post 7

After their lanterns were perfected and everything prepared it was time to place the lanterns as close to the sky as possible so that they could reach the Moon Goddess, Serin. Here was to hoping that she would hear the prayers of those who weren't Shifters, those like Drexl and himself who were the mix of many tribes but held no Shifter blood in them. Surely a Goddess wouldn't be biased, right? The Great Mother Aisha hadn't been, so he'd like to think the best of Serin as well.

Climbing along with the others he made his way up toward the starry sky, pausing when he was able to see it. He gave pause when they were able to get to that point he gave a smile, gazing up at it, "It's really pretty tonight, huh? The Shifters sure pick a great night to hold the festival." Lifting his lantern up he looked it over one last time, then grinned, "Here's to hoping the prayers reach their destination!" Right into the hands of Serin herself.

Turning to his brother he gave him a smile and said, "Ready to hang them up with the rest of them, Drexl?" He gave his brother a smile before moving to put his lantern with some of the others, as high up as he possibly could in the branches.

Aylin, Post 3

Aylin looked around as she finished her lantern, it filled her heart to see so many races coming together here to pray to Serin. She turned to her own lantern affectionately, glancing over the symbols she had painted and filled with her hopes and dreams for the future, she prayed for continued peace in Tendaji, prosperity for Jauhar, safety for Ast and those she knew, and guidance for herself. Solemnly, she thought back to this year’s anniversary of loss for her family and home, how she had spent the night in the trees and prayed to Serin for the strength to move forward.

And while she still felt stuck when it came to her family, Aylin had moved forward in some ways... she had finally traveled to Oba, albeit with Biroki and for a tournament, so she didn’t get to experience much of the culture or really meet any locals, but she had still gone- to a place that had been shrouded in only mystery and fear before. And it lead to experiences like she was having now, meeting new people and learning more about life from other regions of Tendaji. She looked back to the two prentices she was conversing with and waited for a pause in the conversation to suggest that they make their way to the canopy with the other festival attendees to hang their lanterns.

Drexl- Post 7

"Yeah...its amazing isn't it?" As he hung his lantern next to his brothers, Drexl looked over to him and pulled him into a one armed hug. "Lets go find Dad, Papa and Inali. Their most likely in the big tree closest to the path back towards the house!"

Drexl looked up, sending a silent prayer to Serin before he turned to start climbing down. "Race ya!" he waited for his brother to move before he started down after him.

Lixes - Post 8

Giving a smile up at his brother he nodded, "It's looking really awesome, like a tree whose leaves are all glow in the dark!" Which would make it the best tree in existence if you asked the blond. He stood thre for a time, admiring the results of all the of work that all the festival goers had put in, glancing at his brother when he spoke up. He wanted to head back already? Made sense, they had been away from the other for a bit, long enough to get their lanterns put together and in place. With all that finished they should head back!

"Sure, let's go see what the rest of the family are up to!" He gave their lanterns one last glance before hurrying on his way, ever trying to defeat Drexl in a foot race, determined to do so... some day.

Ruelash (Post 4) :
~~~~~~~~~~
Ruelash brought his lamp up to the treetops. It glowed a deep indigo, matching his hair to an extent, and in it burned a simple wish. It had almost been no wish at all, but for a reminder that prayers were supposed to be involved. Ruelash supposed he had one, more or less.
He hung it carefully on a branch, staring at it intently as it gently swayed with the other glowing lanterns in the breeze. It had a small doodle on it, his attempt at art, something resembling an adabuck, if said aldabuck was a sick figure with no features besides it's legs, head, and horns.
His wish, again, was simple: may Chi - for he was sure Chi was in all harsh lands, cold or otherwise - always provide him food and fights. And a home. He glanced at Volkarosh. In a sense, he had wished for the health of her and her family, but not in so many words.
"I made a lantern." he remarked, off hand.
Volkarosh (Post 5) :
~~~~~~~~~~

Volkarosh was nudged into making her own lantern, encouraged by Ruelash's (somewhat destructive) enthusiasm, but her heart wasn't really in it. Her conversation with the other prentices took far more precedence.

"So, Aylin, you live here, correct?" she asked, as she followed Ruelash and the others up into the trees. She nodded at him, briefly. "Yes, Lashy, I can see that." she said. It was funny how proud he was of his little lantern. Odd, for the man, but not completely strange. She turned back to Aylin.

"I was wondering if maybe we could train together sometime?" It would be good to adjust to a different fighting style than her mother, her father, or Lashy. None of them used magic regularly, and she wanted to see what that was like.

Biroki (Post 4)
~~~~~~~~~~
When it came time for the lantern lighting, Biroki lit three, quickly. He had no prayers to offer, just something to miss. Something impossible to wish, that he didn't want to bother the spirits with. He'd lit three every year since his girls had followed their mother into the cold: one for Ikkio, one for Ikuri, and one for himself. Ikkio was a terror, but with every lantern he lit for her, he had a silent hope that the spirits would one day purify her. Ikuri was dead, and he hoped that her lantern would light the way home. His lantern... was just his lantern.
He watched them glow, and smiled sadly before seeking out his apprentice.
Ikkio (Post 4) :
~~~~~~~~~~

What Ikkio was doing could rightly be called stalking. She followed the young lady through the festival, observing her, observing Zumurundi's actions as he happily trotted beside her. When it came time to make lanterns, Ikkio continued this, watching even as she made a lantern.

Other years, she'd had frivolous wishes; someone's attention, someone's pet, someone's downfall, a new mortar and pestle... things like that. The sorts of things that spirits did not generally care about or grant her, the stingy monsters. This time, though, her wish was true.

I hope it's you she thought. I wish it was you Ikuri. But that was simply impossible. The chasm... the fall... No one could have survived it. And if she had... wouldn't she have sought her out before? For revenge? No - Ikuri did not understand revenge.

Did not...? Ikkio was already thinking in the present tense. Everything she'd seen the girl do had been so familiar, so exactly Ikuri. A few differences existed, here and there, but it was her. But it could not be. She hung her lantern, and resolved to approach.

"Excuse me..." Zumurundi eyed his mistress warily. "Would your name be... I mean to say... Hello." She mentally kicked herself. Normally, she was smoother than this, but this was also a strange situation.

Drexl- Post 8

Drexl landed on the ground with a chuckle. He adored his little brother's attempt to always try and best him. It was endearing. He looked forward to the day that Lixes beat him fair and square. Till then. Drexl ruffled his brother's already messy hair. The other had a few more things to learn.

"Hey...before we go back...did you wanna stop by a game or something?" he asked as he glanced around...maybe look for Jerami. Drexl wanted to know if the other made it back safe and sound...

Ikuri
Post #4

Ikuri had a good time with the child, making lanterns and eating some good food was always fun! Unfortunately they went their own paths as they were lighting up the lanterns. Ikuri had made eight lanterns or did her best as this was her first time doing them. Though it didn't felt like it was the first time...

The shifter hybrid made a lantern for Nuawahn, one for her boss, one for Lass and her mom, another one for Nua and her boss, one for Zumurundi and finally one for herself. She asked for many things and hoped the spirits didn't think of her as greedy. Ikuri wished for nothing but the best for Nua, he deserved it! She also wished for him to stop forgetting things, she knew he doesn't do it on purpose but... she wanted him to retain some memories, not to forget things like her. For her boss, wealth and luck, for Lasseyn she wished she'd get what she wanted-- she wasn't exactly sure but it had to be linked with her mom. For the radaku, Ikuri wished he could find his owner and finally her lantern...
Ikuri prayed she'd get what she came for... she wanted to satisfy her curiosity regarding her past.

With a sigh, she hanged her lanterns and looked at Zumu with a smile as she pet him. "Looks like it's just you and me, huh?" She giggled. "Maybe I should start looking for your--" Her sentence was cut mid way as someone approached and spoke to her. She seemed... nice. Awkward yes, but nice! Ikuri knew she was like that most of the time so she could relate to the other.

"Hi!" She said cheerfully and extending her hand. Actually... the stranger looked very familiar-- she couldn't quite put her finger on it. "I was just finishing my lanterns." She said with a sweet smile, gesturing Ikkio to look at them. "They sure took a lot of work... but they were fun to make! It's my first time doing them, I'm actually surprised I managed to put them together!" She giggled, then examined her face again.

Those eyes... She knew this person, she felt like she really knew her! Is this what Nua feels whenever he forgets something? She thought. Ikuri really didn't like the feeling, it was as if she didn't care to remember. The teen blinked back to reality after kicking herself mentally, she realized she had been staring at Ikkio for some time now.

"S-sorry!! I-I... Um... Do..." Flustered she stumbled in her words, as usual. But this time, she just had to ask the shifter something. It only required a simple answer. But what if the other got offended by it? Ikuri took a deep breath. "Have we met before?" She asked.
