Well, why the hell not. It would save him from having to think up a name for the golem, and since he wasn't sure of the origins of this type of vampire, it was very possible that he might pick an inappropriate name if he tried. "It will do," he agreed, and didn't smirk. "I don't mind company." They would have to find an excuse to get away from these two before returning, but he was sure he could think of something.

"Thank you," he said to Bonny as she removed her mini from his leg. His eyebrows lifted as she went on. "I'm sorry to hear that," he said, his voice lifting slightly, inquiring. Appreciate what both of you do -- that was an odd turn of phrase. "Have we met before?" he asked her lightly.

Suki bounded over to Melvin eagerly when called, all placatory crouching. She stooped to lick Melvin's hand even as somewhere inside her head something colder put two and two together about who they were dealing with.

"You say silly things master." she said.

She was however slightly concerned about the strange skeleton girl. "What does ethically mean Bonny? You don't want to chase the little kitties?"

"Ah," Jordan said, and kept himself from reacting more obviously by an effort of will. "I see. I do remember you, then." Had Melvin and (presumably) Rodney been deliberately trying to seem like Halloween creatures just passing by? It didn't really matter, but the uncertainty put Jordan on edge again. "Nice to meet you in person," he said to "Bonny," with a slight wry twist to the words in person.

"I don't disagree with you, necessarily," he said to the skeleton, "but it's a question better addressed to the people in charge, perhaps. There are the morale benefits to consider as well. I see you've got one of your own to look after," and he nodded toward the little hedgehog-like creature that had just been detached from his leg.

Bonny got the very glazed expression of someone who was trying very hard to listen and to dutifully follow along with a conversation but who could either not understand what was being said or who could not actually bring themselves to care about the content of the conversation. "Minipets are food." she said slowly as if talking to someone who didn't speak the same language very well.

But Mistress agreed with the skeleton ghoul so she let it go, leaving her to her strange little unappetising minipet. Instead she leaned into the attention she was getting from Melvin, bristling up her fur and hair delightedly under the demon's claws. "That's nice."she said. "Nice master. And yes. Yes lots of minipets and lots of treats." And despite being disappointed in the loss of contact she scooted ahead towards the trees, looking back to the others and waving her arms.

"LETS GO." she yelled eagerly in a way which definitely wouldn't scare off any minipets.

Jordan sighed. "I don't disagree with you," he said again, and rubbed the bridge of his nose under the charm attached to his forehead. "However, I'm still going to be held partially responsible for the replacement of the minipets that, ah, Suki lost while I was on shift. If you'd like to discuss the ethics of the situation at a future point, I wouldn't mind a conversation. But we're expected to return from this outing with at least two minipets."He paused a moment, and said more gently, "If you'd prefer to return, I don't think anyone would hold it against you."

He gave Bonny a troubled look, then turned toward the trees.

Suki had rather good hearing and was still listening in as she waited.

"Ten!" she barked. "We need ten. I think I lost ten, it was a long morning." She bounced on the spot, apparently having an amazing day and openly eager to get out there and catch some minipets possibly unethically.

When Melvin mentioned her name in conversation she jogged back to trot alongside him and Jordan obediently.

Jordan eyed Melvin evenly. "I'm sure you'd be in a better position to know about her tricks," he said, light and cheerful. "It must have been quite a process, training her."

The total number of minipets Lawrence had apparently dispatched startled him. "Ten?" he said, a little incredulously. "Ten, then. I suppose we have a job to do."

He gave Rodney an apologetic glance, but didn't comment further. This was rapidly turning into an incredibly awkward outing. Not that it hadn't been strange and awkward before, but he'd been hoping to pretend otherwise.
