Nasir tilts his head and then smiles faintly at the poem.
"That's a good poem," he tells Aleksy and then frowns at the mention of someone being gone. Gone people is especially sad right now. His fingers twitch because he wants to go bring Wil over to him but if he stands again his head will spin.
No faceplants.
"What do you mean by gone?" he asks quietly, shifting a little closer to Aleksy so he can be heard. If he's going to do something, it'll be keeping him awake like Eve is tries to do. The bullhorn lays forgotten at his side for the time being. "Gone to someplace?"
After a short hesitation, a different voice--a woman's voice--calls back to the group inside.
"Has the attacker vacated the premises? We can't allow any personnel to enter when it may endanger hostage lives."
Alois searches the closet. He finds a ton of computers, but has no time to spot anything else before being redirected by Rylan to assist the injured.
Rylan and Wil, looking over the map, note that there were several modifications made to the building's foundation in the early 1950s. The only way to access them is through the basement, but if explored--and still present--they may be able to leave that way. Exploring the basement will add an additional d100 to the damage rolls for the duration of any absence.
Rylan wargs into his little bird buddy and finds himself on the outside of the building, perched atop what seems to be a fire truck? The bird looks towards the doors, which are guarded by police; and then to the negotiator, a little further back. There is a flurry of activity, sharp as a tack, as the group seems to be getting together some kind of package. Though he can hear them talk, the words aren't easy to comprehend through Imp's senses. Something about… quarantine? A cordon? Imp looks up, and sees a line of police vehicles parked on the college's carefully-manicured lawn.
Chester, over by the elevators, finds no obvious maintenance areas. Perhaps he'd have more luck if he could prise open the elevator doors? This action will require three other characters to complete successfully, and this will be the only action those characters can take for this turn.

Finn looked at Nasir, locking him in deadly-serious eye contact. "Can I leave him with you?" he asked. "Is Aleksy safe with you? You'll keep him awake?" He'd managed to avoid taking any damage in the first attack, and as the situation stabilized, Finn was realizing that he had an obligation to help more people than just Aleksy.
"I'll be back," he said, pressing a kiss to Aleksy's clammy forehead. "Promise."
Finn got to his feet. "Now," he said. "I heard someone say something about a map."

Nasir blinked, brown eyes widening slightly at the look he was being given before he nodded. "I can do that," he pauses and then amends, "I will do that. I have a lot of practice making sure Wil stays awake." For any of those rare times when he had to make sure the sleepy-head blonde stayed up.
"I'll keep him safe here." It was a promise even if he did not say it. With that in mind Nasir shifted closer to Aleksy and made sure at least some part of him was pressed against Aleksy's side.
The bullhorn still rested at his side but from Nasir was, he was not going to use it.

"Wha---" Kitty looked shocked and taken aback. They weren't going to save them?! "Did she just call us hostages!? Does that mean they won't let us out?!" She screeched at the man near her, looking at him with horror in her eyes. On one hand, being a princess trapped in a tower was a fantastic way to meet another Prince Charming. On the other hand, staying here would risk getting blood on her brand new Lolita dress.
"Oooooh no! I will not be trapped in a room full of carnage on my day off! Not today!" Kitty huffed, turned on her pink heel, and stomped toward the elevator. She pressed to button, but it didn't do anything. She gave the person standing near it a glare as if it was their fault.
She did not want to stay here. And she certainly saw no benefit to herself to help any of these people. As far as she was concerned, the person who needed helping was only herself. <******** it." She growled unexpectedly, breaking from her princess-like stature. Kitty hung the end of her parasol over her arm for safe keeping. She then gripped the inner part of the elevator door as best she could, traction kept well even with her lace gloves. She began to try and pry the elevator door open, despite her wimpy 16 ear old girl arms. All that useless, compulsory activity in gym class had better pay off, she thought bitterly.

Aleksy kind of wobbled his head on his shoulders. This was likely intended to mean agreement: it was a very good poem. Too bad he didn't know any others. He answers Nasir's question in slightly disjointed Russian, I don't know, I'm not sure, I can't remember, and then Finn was… leaving?
If only Aleksy could get his ******** arms to move right.
"I want to go home," he said uncomfortably.
There was screaming upstairs. He scrunched his eyes closed against the auditory assault.
"Huh?" He swung his head towards the German and blinked. "Oh. Uh. Yeah, pro'bly, but it ain' so bad." Not compared to some others. "Jus' lemme do a bit more before y'see me."
Like really take in everything that Fox Lady was saying. Supernatural veil and s**t. Jesus.
Overhearing a familiar voice, Dawson looked to see one of the women he'd been speaking with before (hell, the one who had tried to bandage his head wound even) trying to look after one of the others he'd reached out to. "Them," he told the German, pointing the pair out with a grimace. He could see the severity of the woman's wounds even from afar. "They need way more help than me, dude. I'll go handle some lesser bits first n' then come back n' find ya."
With his strips of tablecloth, bag of smashed The Sweet Spot goods, and a quietly anxious smile, Dawson began to scrounge around for other resources, passing along bits of sweets to try and help calm or distract some of the younger people trapped there. Mrs. Potosi had been nice enough to keep some of the palm-sized water bottles on hand at the booth as well (mostly because interacting with so many people was thirsty work). He grabbed an armful and began to distribute as he could.
At least until, eventually, the large man took a seat by several others with the bullhorn with a wincing sigh. "Ho boy," he murmured as he heard noises for upstairs, forcing himself to focus and extend one of the little bottles to them with a slightly shaking hand. "Here. Lil' sips if ya can."

Hux had just finished helping another couple people trapped beneath a shelf when he noticed a young, very frilly woman attempting to pry open the door to the elevators. He frowned at her, and made his way over.
"Is there someone trapped in there?" He asked, confused as to how it would be helpful to get the doors open, considering there were already stairs in perfect condition. Still, she seemed quite determined.
"Here, let me help you princess."
He grinned at the smaller girl before shifting into the space next to her, slipping his fingers into the crack between the two doors and grimacing as he put all his strength into prying the elevator open. His muscles flexed beneath tan skin, and it budged a tiny bit- but not nearly enough.
"We probably need at least one other person to get this done. You're way stronger than you look, by the way." Again, he grinned at her- then he shouted to the person closest to them.
"Hey, you! Come help us get this thing open!"

Wait a second -- hostages?
Eve's ear twitched at some of the words from the woman outside, and her brow furrowed, making ridges appear on her forehead and nose -- an almost frightful sight paired along with the slitted eyes and gritted fangs."Keep it up," she whispered to Nasir, and then picked up the bullhorn at his side. "I'm going to try and talk some sense into them."
With that, she stood up, bracing against a wall to make her way closer to the entrance:
"There are no 'hostages' here, officer. Only people in immediate need of medical attention."
Pause. Breathe.
"Our most injured are all on the first floor of this building. The attacker is currently on the second floor. If you send some personnel in to guard the stairs, that will contain the threat in a smaller area and make it possible for us to evacuate. Please help us."
The pleading was tinged with fatigue and anger. What did the police even think they were doing right now? Leila was wrong: Jeremiah couldn't be pissed off. Because he must be utterly furious.

There were no easily accessible doors that Chester could see, but as he stood off to the side of the elevator bank a tiny, very, very overdressed girl and a large man even taller than he was arrived to help. It was like a sitcom. The young man crouched, pulling at the elevator door with all of his hard-earned strength.
"Almost," he muttered, keeping silent otherwise. There was no way he was calling this kid a princess.

Rylan emerged from his flight and shook his head, feeling drained.
"Alright," he said to those around him. "The whole gang is here - fire department, police. The police are guarding the doors, and there's a negotiator and... they said something about a quarantine and a cordon, so I can only assume they think some sort of disease or other is here."
He paused and leaned against the table, staring at the map with blank eyes. "They're not going to come in until the group upstairs has caught the were... secured the area. Protocol."
He glanced toward the elevator, then back at the people trapped and hurt.
"We should try to get that open, maybe it'll give us a way out down the elevator shaft. We won't be able to transport injured people, but if we can send one or two people out, we'll have a better time negotiating."

For all of Preacher's huffing and puffing and dismissal of assistance, Ian didn't take offense. He still rolled his eyes a little at her need to act tough in a situation like this, especially with the wobble to her step, but he made no further comments and walked alongside her. There was a lot of noise, even though things weren't nearly as chaotic, and Ian still wasn't sure what to make of anything. The appearance of someone they might actually be able to help was something of a relief and, as they approached Amelia, Ian opened his mouth to speak but Preacher got there first.
"That'd be nice," he glanced to his acquaintance sarcastically before turning a sympathetic eye to the other girl. Ian softened his voice a little to her benefit, "You'll be alright." Lifting his head to search for a container as Preacher suggested, something a little more urgent caught his eye -- a small group attempting to pry open the elevator. "s**t," he hissed under his breath and held a hand towards the two women to get their attention, "I'll be right back. Stay with her, please. I'll get something."
With an apologetic glance, Ian broke away from Preacher and Amelia to jog over to the elevator. They seemed to be making some progress but an extra hand couldn't hurt. Without a proper greeting to any of them, Ian situated himself in the best position he could to help pry the elevator open.

Wil turned his head to watch a group, two on each side, begin to pry open the elevator doors. His gaze drifted then to Nasir, patched up and being forced to sit with some other injured people. He really just wanted to be home with him, and maybe a funny movie and something to eat... anything that wasn't this weird ******** up stuff.
But that wasn't happening anytime soon.
"Well the map says that from the basement we maybe able to find some old exits.." A stained finger tapped something there, "But we may be open to like.. more weird s**t if the monster is hiding down there.." But could they afford not trying.
"Anyone wanna check it out?"
EVERYONE PLEASE
Any input on taking a small group to the basement and chancing another dice against us while down there? Some would still remain behind to roll heals per shibe's confirmation.

"S-sunshine?" Temperance shot Connor a startled look before stepping towards the joint practice booth. "Connor, that's a highly inaccurate nickname. Can you see if there are any spirits at the wine booth while I go through here? It looks abandoned." She rifled through her booth, producing some bottles of water, a few rolls of gauze, and a bottle of Hibiclens. It wouldn't cleanse a wound, but it would help disinfect.
When she was done, she gave Connor a wave - an easy thing, considering her height and that a lot of people were now seated. She motioned through pointing where to meet her and started off. The nurse still lay there, abandoned, the bloodstained scarf acting as a makeshift shroud. Temperance swallowed loudly and quickly averted her eyes, breathing shallowly. Unpreventable, unpreventable.
Instead, she skirted around people to go check back on Nasir. He'd sat down since then and was next to another man. Temperance frowned. Neither of them looked to be in good shape. "You look like s**t. Your friend, too. How are you feeling?" Nasir had sustained a lot of blood loss, but she was concerned with the dazed look on the man next to him's face.
"Hey, think you can drink? Tell me what's wrong." Connor would be over shortly, she hoped.

Lo and behold, not just one Prince Charming, but a whole handful. One even addressed her as Princess! As he should, of course. Still, her cheeks burned a flattered pink from the sudden entourage she had going. Kitty tried not to ogle the fine gentlemen assisting her, and silently wished she had just demanded they do this from the very start, rather than have her dirty her own hands. Or lace gloves, in her case.
She pried with the gaggle of them, her small arms wobbling even as the doors slowly began to part. A small grunt escaped her throat despite her best efforts, as a man suggested trying the basement.
"Should this fail, I welcome the change in scenery!" She yelped to him, her forehead now creasing with effort.
