Abel was beyond frustrated. Luckily for Abel her version of frustrated was a rather pouty face as she stared at her unthreaded needle. It had taken her the entire class to do basically nothing, and Abel was disappointed in herself. Giving it one last try, Abel attempted to slip the thread through the eye of the needle and -- succeeesss! Abel did it!
"Yay, I did iiiit~!" Abel cheered with excitement. The class was over now, but maybe if she talked to the teacher she could stay late and finish up.

Galan had been so excited to learn that a sewing class was being offered. The first thing he'd done was contact Gany with the good news. Even though he didn't need the credit himself, there was no way he'd leave Gany without support as he pursued his passions.
So, he bustled into class and sat down next to Ganymede. It was only then that he realized he'd need to learn the basic sewing skills too...
Slowly and steadily, Galan watched Ganymede work and then mimicked his actions as best he could. The threading of the needle, the length of thread, the anchoring stitches, the simple backstitch....
Slowly, slowly the hole closed. On the outside his thread made tiny, careful little dashes, and he was feeling quite proud of himself. At last he finished and turned the fabric around to have a look at his handiwork from inside and out and saw the messy slashes of thread on the reverse side of the fabric like a wound.
Blushing bright mint, he set the assignment down, embarrassed and disheartened. And he thought he'd done so well! There was no way Ganymede would be proud of him for this first effort...

Sewing wasn't the kind of creative work that Hexen cared for. Sure. sewing offered useful skills she could carry with her throughout life, but as an outlet for creativity she didn't really get the point. She couldn't really object, however, to making plushies for kids. If she did, that's just come off as rude. And while sometimes Hexen couldn't really care less about what people thought of her, the demoness just really wanted to get out of the Academy already. Hexen didn't bother to learn the herring bone stitch, or any of the other more complicated ones. Instead, she stuck with the simple back stitch and finished her plushie before the end of class with minimal help. Hmn! Not bad, not bad. But, let's not do this again if we don't have to.

Talfia was pretty cool. She was one of the teachers Castus didn't hate. They spoke a similar language, so the young fallen could respect her. Besides, the two had gone racing before, which made her pretty OK in his books. After numerous stabs and jubs and frustrated groans and grunts, Castus finally managed to get the hang of this stitching thing. It wasn't really his bag, but at least now he knew he could do it if he ever had to. With his tongue sticking out in concentration, Castus sewed the last few centimeters of fabric and sealed the plushie shut. He looked over his handy work. He wasn't pleased or displeased with it ... but, maybe he could just shove it in his bag and keep it for safekeeping instead of donating it to the kids.

Blythe was excited to get started, they had enjoyed doing sewing projects before, like the plushies they had made for Eve and Valentein. They had came out so well, that Blythe was suggested to take a sewing class to further hone their skills. So here they were, listening intently to the assignment. Oh, fix some holes in clothing? That shouldn't be a problem at all, in fact, Blythe had done that before when they tore their clothes from getting too over excited sometimes. Blythe was handed a garment and immediately they inspected it, identifying the holes in the clothing and determining what kind of stitches needed to be used. They chose to sew by hand since most of the holes were small enough to not need a machine to fix. Gracefully threading the needle, Blythe started in quickly and was done fairly early. With a beaming smile, they handed the garment back to Talfia and nodded confidently, happy with their own work and hoped the teacher would be just as pleased.

Gwen didn't mess up to epic levels sewing, but she wasn't good at it, her stitches showed badly. She frowned, she didn't like being bad at things, she sighed life study was not, what she considered fun.

Sewing? Well that was something Tricia never planned to have anything to do with. She could get whatever she wanted as far as clothing went, so why bother? Groaning, the Elf threaded the needle with some difficulty, but she felt a small victory when it was done. Pain in the a** thing. It took some time to get a system down for sewing, but she finally finished! "Thank gods! tch... w-wait..." Holding the material up, she stared at it. "Oh dammit..." she said as she realized she stitched on the outside of the stupid material!

T'kani stared at the first line of stitching, grumbling softly in her room. This wasn't a master-level enchanting project, but she didn't even think she'd be comfortable turning in something so...sloppy. There had to be a better way to get this done, certainly she was not the first to have this problem, right? Some nightmares did this for a living, what did they use?
A quick search gave the answer incredibly easy, and she rolled her as for not coming up with it. They used sewing machines, of course. What a boring name. Still, she could get this finished perfectly, and really fast from some of the videos she found!
As luck would have it, there was a few sewing machines located on Academy grounds in one of the advanced classes, and she only had to weather a few questions and wave off any offers for help. This couldn't be that difficult, all of those videos made it look so easy, why didn't they teach this along with sewing by hand? Doing it by machine was obviously superior.
It took her a while to figure out how to actually get the darn thing to work, and a few pieces of fabric sacrificed themselves during her experimentation, but she was eventually able to finish the whole thing. It was a marvel of a machine to work with, something she would need to use again if these projects ever came up. Speaking of which...
She looked over the finished plushie, turning it around and examining all of the stitching. It looked great, everything came out with nice, even, and precise lines. It looked sort of small though, the plushie pattern must have been for an infant not a freshling. Nothing she could do about it though, so she turned it in the next day while listening to the rest of the class talk about the progress they were making.

Despite being nowhere near a beginner at sewing, Matilda ended up running into some difficulty with her needle and the assigned hole to sew up. The thread kept splitting, so it took her more time than it should have to thread it. The hole was stitched up alright, nothing she could be extremely proud of, but she did better than some of her class mates, so she counted that as a victory.

For never having picked up a needle and thread before, Dianthe did a pretty decent job at the assigned task. The stitching was nowhere near perfect, but it wasn't ugly, and that was more than fine with her. She knew she could leave class that day confident that she could mend little holes and tears in her wardrobe.

Sewing wasn't Laurel's strong suit, but she had tried it a couple times before and could manage a decent stitch when she had the time for it. Usually she was busy reading or practicing divination, so unless the tears were pretty big and obvious a lot of her things that needed mending ended up having to wait a while to get fixed. She pulled the fabric she was supposed to be working on towards her and examined the tear. It looked pretty simple; she might even be able to fix it and make it look nice! She selected some thread and a needle, ever so carefully threaded it, then began to painstakingly stitch the tear closed. It took about as long as she feared it would, being so out of practice, but Laurel was pleased to see that her work was quite neat.

Samara felt pretty confident when she learned what the lesson was going to be about today. One of the things Granny made sure Samara could do was sew. What if she was off on her own some of her things got torn? There might not be anyone she could steal new garments from (it would be in poor taste to take from someone who didn't have many clothes in the first place), and why waste money when fixing the problem was so simple? They'd often work on mending garments or piecing together something useful out of the unsalvageable bits while Granny taught Samara her daily lessons. She took up the torn bits of fabric, selecting thread and needle, and quickly and neatly repaired the tears.

After her gym class fiasco and some time in the nurse's office, Sepphora actually looked forward to the calm and quiet atmosphere of life skills. It wasn't the most amusing of classes some times, but it did teach her a few good tricks that she actually already began to use. One couldn't complain about something useful like that! And today was sewing! That was actually something she looked forward to. She had started sewing some things here and there, but she was certainly up for the extra practice!
After spending a good amount of time on her material as she tried to patch up the hole, she felt fairly confident that she had done a good job. She tied it off, snipped the excess thread, and held it up for inspection. ... Something didn't look right. "What in the... Oh darn it." she said, a frumpy look taking over her expression. Granted, she sewed the hole up nicely, but she sewed it on the wrong side of the fabric! Ah well... Seemed like it was going to turn into that kind of a day anyways.

As a freshling, Andromeda had been looking forward to taking the life skills class - he'd wanted to take it then but was told it was only for older students. But, now that he was old enough... well, he just couldn't get himself to focus on much of anything these days.
He mechanically went along with Talfia's instructions, but as time went on he just continued to zone out, not really paying attention to what he was doing. He snapped back to reality when he poked himself with the needle, pain erupting in his finger. Blinking, he inspected his work, realizing he'd managed to sew the sleeve opening shut, too!
Welp... With a small sigh, he reached for the seam ripper and began carefully undoing his work.

Flax was excited about learning to sew. The way he saw it, it was just another way of making art. He liked the idea of designing plush patterns, of sketching out bits of projects. But first, the Nixie needed to learn how to sew two pieces of fabric together.
In his enthusiasm, Flax must have gotten a little carried away, because his thread kept tangling. He realized about four stitches in that one side of the thread had caught and wasn't pulled through, so he worked on fixing it for a few minutes. And then came the pain of pulling the entire thread through for each stitch, so it wouldn't happen again. And then the knots. And then the times where he looped the thread through itself.
In the end, he had a rather mangled piece of fabric, but they were certainly sewn together one way or another. It was a first step, and Flax was proud of it.
