"I was gonna ask how the ******** that worked, " Hitch admitted as he swatted at the ends of Alex's hair like a vaguely amused cat or something - and then just as quickly gave it up, because who the ******** was he to give anyone else a hard time over hair? His was three ******** colors by this point and shaggy as ********, go ahead and have a laugh at that.
As though he could sense Alex's barely restrained laughter, Hitch's face grew thunderous and dark. "What? I don't read a lot, so what?" he grunted with all the eloquence and poise someone could have when they sounded borderline indignant.
Luckily (or not) it passed real fast when Alex actually explained the meat and bones of this Narnia, sort of. "Okay, Jesus lion, that's weird. But that had what to do with his boyfriend? His brow furrowed and crinkled as he turned over the mini-summary in his head.
Then, all at once - "Oh. OH." Then he sort of blushed and turned his head with a click of his tongue to try and hide the color - and then scowled deeper, more fiercely. "Why is jesus cat in the closet then?"

Alex made a noise that could only be called the verbal equivalent of smashing your hands on the keyboard and hitting "submit" on whatever came out.
"Jesus cat is in the closet because the metaphor I applied is not meant to be read out of those books because C.S. Lewis was like, painfully heterosexual, and also writing children's books in the 50s - man how do you know Harry Potter but not Narnia?" He wasn't even going to pretend to not be confused, because that seemed like a really unfortunate set of missed pop culture. "No, you know what, don't tell me, I'm just going to assume from now on that I'll probably need to explain any and all pop culture references."
Slowly, Alex stood up, and then he stretched a little because where he was sitting was not exactly comfortable.
"Alright, I'll talk to Hver. And until I do, or I sort the rest of this mess out or whatever, I'll stay in - not drain energy, or anything." That probably wouldn't end well, but oh well. He'd seen people slack far harder.

The look Hitch gave in return that was about equivalent to the look he'd given way back during New Year's eve when he'd realized there was a talking cat of all ******** things. And that was sort of saying something.
"Well, I - " he sputtered in that flustered way, his cheeks burning, and he hunkered down a little closer to the ground with a very deliberate, forced kind of scowl. Being grumpy was easier than being out and out embarrassed, and of course he ******** explained even though there was really no ******** reason for him to. "I saw Harry Potter. Or some of 'em. - so Narnia can't be all that ********' good." Which was basically the equivalent to a kid throwing down their toys and saying so there, but that was neither here nor there.
He stood up with Alex and did the same kind of stretch, his spine audibly popping as he arched his back. He glanced back at Alex, at Kerberos, and his lips pursed a little - curled at the edges, because he was happy to hear it, but -
"Try not to wait too long, okay? - the longer you wait, the harder it is to get s**t done, y'know?" And he might be a filthy hypocrite in a lot of ways, especially given the amount of s**t he tried to put off and not think about - but he knew in this case, it was probably really ******** true. "Until then - if they, I don't know - give you s**t for slackin' or whatever - if it keeps the spotlight off you - " He didn't sound a thousand percent sure on this, but, "I can stop here a couple of days a week or whatever, like, Tuesday and Thursday maybe? - that way I'll know you're cool, an' - "
He shrugged, even though it wasn't really something to just shrug off. "If they're givin' you s**t, just drain me. I'm kinda used to it by now, so. Yeah."

Alex shook his head slowly, but made no further comment on Hitch's defensive reaction. He really was cute when he was angry - but he would take that thought no farther, because taken dudes were really not his thing.
But his response to Hitch's offer was nothing short of literal panic. "What? No! I can't - I can't do that, I can't let you do that, don't be ridiculous," he said, and it was obvious that the thought of asking someone to do that for him was legitimately horrifying. "Just - no!" He would rather deal with whatever trouble he got in, because he was pretty sure it couldn't possibly be worse than two weeks of withdrawal.
"But -- I will come here. Again." He promised, and he meant it. "So that you don't worry. Because you really shouldn't. Worry about me, I mean."

Hitch put up his hands in a would-be soothing way, flashing Alex a small smile. "Okay, okay, just - okay - sorry, " and he felt bad for offering, a little. But not totally. It wasn't exactly his favorite idea, but push came to shove - if this guy needed time to break free, he could help give it to him. "Then just - if you get in trouble you better ********' tell me an' we'll figure some s**t out, " seemed like the best alternate route, and he nodded as if agreeing with himself.
"You don't get a ********' say in this. We're friends now so I'm gonna ********' worry Care Bear, so just ********' deal with it - an' if you don't, just ********' hurry up an' purify quicker, " he droned, waving a hand at him. Then crossed his arms. "Tuesdays an' Thursdays, 11:30 to midnight. Somewhere in that timeframe I better see you, an' if I don't, I'm gonna assume some negaverse b***h kicked your a** and I will ********' find them an' shove my foot up their a**. We clear?"

Alex exhaled, but he nodded slowly. "I promised I'lol let you know if anything happens." He wouldn't, but he'd broken stronger promises than that. Having someone else worrying after him...no, he couldn't do that. So he would lie and cover and tell Hitch he was fine, even if he wasn't.
"I'll be back here, soon," he promised. And that one he did mean to keep. "Either as myself or...you know, Order. Maybe." It seemed so far fetched and impossible, that by next Tuesday he might finally be free and out of the crushing hell that was the Negaverse. But no, he had to be realistic.
Next time he came here he would still be Corrupt Sailor Kerberos, as broken as ever.
But he had a friend, at least, and this time he stepped forward to initiate a hug because it seemed the proper way to say goodbye. "I'll be fine. And I'll see you in the next couple of days. If I get out before then, I'll send you a letter."frayedflower fin soon? (eventual follow up necessary ofc)

Hitch wanted to believe him, really - if only because Hitch himself took his promises all together too seriously, whether he wanted to keep them or not. Yes, he deflected, yes, he lied, yes, he was a damn hypocrite to the core, but he was at the very, very least a man of his word. He just didn't know if he could really trust Alex's word just yet, not when it'd been this hard to coax him to here.
But still. At least they'd agreed to meet again, and that was enough. Hitch's smile was warm as he said that, and warmer still at the hug, a far cry from shrinking away from his arms before. And he ******** took it and ran with it, wrapping his arms around the senshi-turned-boy and squeezing tight, half-lifting him before setting him down again and ruffling his hair all over again. "You ********' better. 11:30, Tuesday - be here or I'm paintin' the damn town red lookin' for your flowery a**."
Well he'd used flower petals with that stupid attack before - thank ******** god that wasn't ******** happening again, or it better not - and he had tattoos with flowery s**t so - there. "Keep in touch Care Bear, " he grunted, a little more seriously. "When that letter comes, I'll be here. Alright?"

Alex was not going to admit it easily, but he took a lot of comfort in how enthusiastic Hitch's hugs were. Because if someone was willing to hug him like that - it would be hard for him to articulate, but maybe being cared about meant that he was worth being cared about.
And Hitch had promised to be here, to be there for him in general, to make sure he was safe and okay. It still baffled him that so many people - good people - wanted to do that for him, but arguing wasn't getting him anywhere.
"I will," he agreed, and then, "and I'll expect you. If you're not here after all this damn effort I'm gonna be hella annoyed." And then he stepped back, and away, and waited until he was out of eyesight to power back up so he could teleport home.
