"Likely story," she teased back.

She positioned his fingers into the three fingered symbol she'd made on the elevator before fighting the kaiju.

(Sidenote, that had been ******** awesome).

"It was this," she told him. She was sure of it. "Think of all the s**t we could say behind peoples' backs."

He mimicked the gesture. "That was the one," Jack agreed, then bent his thumb. "You couldn't see it there, but I did this back."

He touched Chel's pinkie and pointer fingers with his own, grinned, and said, "Rock on," in his best stoner impression, and then back to normal added,

Chel rolled her eyes, having met one too many rock on types in her lifetime.

(She was one too, but that was besides the point).

"Jack Hawthorn? Havin' fun? Say it ain't so."

"What, are you saying you're not having fun, babe?" he asked innocently. "Should I go out and find us another giant worm to kill?"

"That a d**k joke?"

She laughed and turned over, pushing her backside into his front for a change of pace because her neck had been getting sore. "M'glad you're here, y'know? I always feel bad for the hunters that don't got somewhere to go after."

He hadn't even considered that; he was definitely tired.

"Everyone copes differently." Jack rolled over to his side and faced her, getting more comfortable to fall asleep. He made to slide an arm under her neck. "But I'm glad too. It's nice to tackle this s**t with someone else for once. Even if it means putting up with your sass," he added with a little cheek. "Especially if it means putting up with it, really."

"Yeah well. You're welcome."

She reached down to adjust her sweatpants once while looking at the door. It was true, what Jack was saying. Even just having his familiarity was calming. She could hear hunters talking outside the room (hunter dorm walls were oh so thin and while most of the time Chel liked the world being able to hear she was getting laid, now was not a time she preferred it). Most of them were scared, confused, trying to piece themselves together. In Jack's bed she felt a strange calmness; the whole thing felt like a fond joke.

Outside the door was a realm of chaos. "Kinda don't wanna go to sleep. Feels like we'll just drift back there." She didn't really have any alternatives to add though. It was more like a question posed; do we go out the door, or stay?

"Mm...A walk?" Jack suggested. "Easy way to clear your head. Or sit on the rooftop? Going outside period would be nice either way." Though he still continued to lie in bed until they had come to an agreement, already in a comfortable position.

Chel made a soft noise of agreement, putting her lips on the arm under her neck and closing her eyes for just a moment or two more. Sleep was a temptress but she wanted to fight it; odd that despite her usual insomnia she actually wanted to stay awake for once.

After a moment or two she let out a hefty sigh and sat up, pulling him with her. The yawn was coupled with a stretch and she said, "Aight. Beach walk? Just somewhere without people for a bit." A small addendum. "We should check on the others on our way out too."

Making a do we have to sort of groan, Jack reluctantly let himself be pulled up and began to stretch as well. "It'd be more beneficial to just wait until we all have clear heads," he argued. "I doubt any of us will be forgetting this anytime soon." In a strange way, the dream alone had made him sick of people already, and it wasn't even dawn yet.

Lazily he grabbed a shirt and slipped it on, yawning again. "Who was there again? Your cousin, of course, but I don't remember seeing the usual crew." Evasive talk was instinctive thanks to Chel's time with the bracelet.
