"I just want to see what happens." It came out soft, distracted, Julian's eyes returning to the mirror and a smile flashing briefly across his face. It was the manic glee of someone who would poke at a hornet's nest to see what happened, or read the forbidden books to see what was so troublesome within its pages.
"It has to be something crazy." And he made the word crazy sound good.

Ezekiel snorted, stepping up on Julian's side to give the other man a long look before glancing back to the mirror. "Or it might kill us all." This possibility had occurred to him, but then so did many others. The indecision tied his hands, made him slow to do anything but watch for now.
What he wanted was an option that keep him, them, safe. Whatever path that may be, that was the one Ezekiel would pick. As of yet, he simply didn't know which that would be.

He had been slightly injured, yes, but not nearly as much as the others who had engaged with the giant serpent. Jake clearly missed all the fun stuff. A break would have been nice, but he followed Morgan, wondering what all this could be about. The gate? Why would shadows be after the gate. Unfortunately, it was a question that would go unanswered for the moment. Jake had noticed the change in corridor's structure, glancing curiously at the seals surrounding the door frame. Were the scratches caused by the shadowlings as well?
Upon entry into the treasure room, Jake couldn't help but be impressed by all the treasure, but not was not a time to indulge. It seemed the other great knights had arrived, and Jake only cast puzzled expressions at each as they began to bicker between one another. Morgan wished to move the gate, Percival wished protect the gate, and Gawain wished to destroy it? While Jake had originally sided with Morgan to take up the offensive, it was hard to decide who was right in this matter. Each had their own reasons, and each were plausible.
The Great King's words were absolute, and while they were to follow the words of both the great knights and kings, it was inevitable the great king's words would hold more weight. Perhaps they should wait for their word? But, in such a situation, waiting was not a luxury they could afford. Action must be taken, and if the mirror/gate could seal the horsemen and shadows, then that would be the best course of action. Though this was true... was it really that easy? Gawain's words held merit, and if they were to fail at sealing even one, it would be the end of them. But... was that really a good reason to be shattering the gate? After all, he DID just say knights were immune to it, and-
Something Gawain had said made Jake's eyes grow dark. ... He had decided what he should do.

It seems the Great Knights were too absorbed fighting each other to see the mirror simpy absorb the gate altogether. The mirror's surface immediately crystalized, revealing strange shadows surrounding the gate. The seals around the gate slowly began to dissolve. It would still take time.

It was too late. Though he tried to break the gate, the others had managed to slide it into place. He took a few steps back, shaking his head as the shadows began to form around the gate and mirror. That wasn't all that was happening. The seals were dissolving, slowly, and well. It just really wasn't looking good.
"Fools!" he hissed sharply under his breath. He glared at the ones who had pushed it into place, then took a few more steps back, staring down the artifact. His sword as in hand, as he prepared for whatever was going to try and make its way through.

Oh man, Jala missed ALL the fun stuff. Why didn't anyone TELL her there was some giant shadow snake eating everyone? She wanted IN on that action! But that was neither here nor there, and there were more important things to pertain to. As far as it pertained to her, more important often meant more boring if it didn't mean more butt-kicking. Still, she was raring to go and had no intention of sitting this out, so she joined Sir Morgan as he headed back into the castle.
Morgan kept talking and she had no idea what he was saying, so she just looked around, wondering when they'd stop walking and start fighting more. She didn't know what he meant by a protective barrier, but if it was broken, that meant the shadows had made their way inside, right? Oh boy. More walking, and more broken things, but Jala paid no mind to them, keeping an eye peeled for any shadowy-looking things. Seriously, when did the fun start up again?
Upon entry into the treasure room, Jala's eyes lit up, and she let out a low whistle. "Damn, I'd kill to get my hand on some of this stuff." Were these the perks of knighthood? If so, she couldn't WAIT to get promoted. She totally deserved a promotion right now. She was tempted to reach out and touch some of the treasure (and maybe take one or two. It wouldn't be missed, right?), but then it seemed other great knights had arrived, and... a quarrel broke out. Well, it wasn't the action she was thinking of, but it was something! She didn't know anything about the gate or mirror and what they did, but it didn't matter because the knights were already fighting, and considering she had arrived late, it seemed some of the knights had taken Morgan's words to heart and had moved the gate. The two already fused into one and the seals seemed to be slowly dissolving. Were those... were those shadowlings?

She'd taken her time, and perhaps that was the wrong choice. The truth was, she wouldn't have been able to decide what to do on her own, regardless - and when she arrived, finding the room in complete chaos over the newly protected gate and mirror. She'd been warned about the artifact, and it's dangerous nature - and judging from the way knights were fighting other knights, this was no exaggeration.
Hearing the angry cry of the man she'd earlier dismissed had her attention, and she moved near to wait until those around him had their say, before bending her head in to fretfully whisper.
"What has been done?"

If she had been feeling well about her efforts so far, that all comes to an abrupt end as the Great Knights begin to squabble. Abbi had followed them into the treasure room along with the other knights and joined the ranks of awkwardly waiting crowds, unsure but curious to see what the verdict would be. Of course, it wasn't that clear cut, and the girl listened to everyone's arguments and stayed quiet, as it was not her place to speak. Not that she really would have given any good input in any regard since she didn't know what the Great Knights were really talking about...
Everything devolves quite quickly, the knights drawing their swords and calling for their followers to attack or to move. Neither sounds good to Abbi, but it is simply because she doesn't have enough information on things. The gate is a mystery she cannot even begin to tackle, but fighting her fellow knights seems the wholly wrong thing to do. They must all fight together, for if they disband they are all doomed. But, despite not wanting to fight her brethren, she does understand that letting things dissolve into chaos and bickering amongst themselves won't work. Maybe its not the best approach, but Abbi will do what she can to keep a modicum of peace, even if it might not be strictly passive.
With her decision made she rushed off, avoiding the shadows that hovered around the mirror.

Shun turned towards the first one who spoke to him, then just waved his hand at the gate.
"Can you look at that and honestly say that appears to be doing a good thing? How daft are you?" he hissed. A whisper could be heard from somewhere nearby. He turned sharply towards the source, finding one of the women he had fought with on the battlefield.
"The gate has been joined with the mirror. Now it is... doing that."

Piper was done with all manner of flying creatures, frankly. After the chicken escapades and nearly constant fighting with wyverns, she wanted to just stick to things on the ground—at least those were in range of her weapon and weren't squawking flying predators she had to shout at to hit. So frankly, Percival could have said whatever he wanted and she would have followed regardless. Anything to get away from that hot mess in the sky raining down upon them.
(Screaming bodies falling from the sky were not the signs of victory she wanted from this endeavor.)
What waited for them down below was somehow worse. The three Great Knights were standing off against one another, and the more they talked, the less confident Piper felt. Sidhe? Was that something else to worry about? And now there was infighting, and the gate and mirror were locked together, and on the surface were moving shadows. Not good as far as she was concerned.
Panicking, she went to find Percival for guidance, tearing through the traitor knights attacking him.

His answer to the man before her, as well as herself, had her attention returning to the mirror gate hybrid that now laid before them. She hadn't seen them when they were separated, so she had no idea that this wasn't exactly what the artifact had always been doing. When he explained it to her, she paled as she watched the shadows moving murkily within.
"And I am to understand that is not what it should be doing.." She muttered, more to herself than anything. "Is it safe to attack? Is there nothing we can do to protect ourselves?" And suddenly, she realized there was a more important question.
"Why is everyone staying in this room with that thing? Should we not leave the room, and seal it? I worry that we are simply waiting for the slaughter, by standing here." A look around the room made her head tilt with vague dismissal. "As beautiful as it is, I do not want to die here. Are the great knights truly spending this time arguing amongst each other when we should be moving to safety?"
But the truth was self-evident, as was made obvious by her next words, which were hushed and shaky with fear. Her eyes met Shun as she asked, almost pleadingly. "Is there safety?"

Damien took the harsh words in stride. "No I havent looked back at the gate since we mov-" Indeed after the last few meters his attention was more focused on the safety of the other knights, whirling back at the gate and those that were circling it. "But how did they get in?!" He asked, alarmed with the artifact weapon in hand. They were joined by another, a vague memory of the person saving him from the wyvern that came across his path much earlier. "Should we clear out before... whatever happens.... happens with us in close proximity?"
