"Yeah. Just need to rest my eyes and get some more water." He huffed a sigh through his nose. "Can't even ******** enjoy laser tag. Thanks, Deus."

"I dunno, looked like you were havin' a pretty good time in there." She gestured to the door, smiling to try and alleviate some of his pain.
An attendant came to ask them if everything was alright and Chel waved him off with a hand that said, we're fine. But they probably did need to stop hogging the counter space.
"Am I gonna have to carry you home, Beanstalk?" If she knew one thing it was that nothing got Jack moving like being taunted.

"I do make dying a slow and painful death look good, don't I." With a bracing breath, Jack peeled himself off the counter. "I'm fine. Let's go, Ms. Piggy."
He looked pretty proud of that one, not because of the stuffed animal but because he happened to be green.

Chel wasn't sure what was more incredible; that Jack had devoted an entire day to her and only threw one b***h fit, or that he had walked back with her to her dorm hand-in-hand with stupid plastic matching rings. Both were fantastical feats of nature that clearly signaled armageddon.
"How's your head now?" she asked, moving to her kitchen cabinets to get the aspirin bottle she loved so dearly. It had been a good beach find, that aspirin bottle. It had come in handy even if it's origins were somewhat shadier.

Jack was sprawled out on her couch, face strained and eyes closed. Away from the hustle and bustle of the arcade it was a lot easier, but at the same time the lack of distractions made it harder to ignore the pain. He grunted his answer and rubbed his eyelids.
"Was it hard, remembering not to actually attack them?" he asked.

"Kind of." Chel brought the bottle and a glass of water over and sat on the ground beside the couch, elbows on the cushions. She set the items on the table beside Jack for him to take when he was ready. "More like ... I knew they weren't enemies, but s'all muscle memory at this point. Almost threw a kid over the damn railin'."
She began running her fingers down his arm. There was no point in asking if Jack had struggled with the urge since she'd clearly seen that he had. "It was fun hangin' out with Prince Charmin'."

"Yeah, I saw," he said with a snigger before snatching up the meds and guzzling down several more.
Jack let the water bottle rest against his cheek and neck. "I died for you," he pointed out, feigning offense. "And I won you a stupid plushie. That's basic Date 101, Chel, god. A regular boyfriend would've let you go with just shitty rings, but I, the most amazing not-boyfriend, slaughtered hundreds of kids for your right to hold that pig. Show some damn respect."

Chel looked at the pig she'd set on the kitchen counter and then back to Jack. "Oh ... yeah I guess it was a date, huh?" It was strange, having to piece that together in her mind. With Dawson it had been mechanical (not forced, she definitely had a good time and it was a lot of fun) in a way where she knew what she was supposed to be feeling and she wasn't feeling. With Jack it was the exact opposite; she hadn't known what was even happening and as a result there were too many feelings.
"We even got married," she said, waving her hand, particularly the pinkie around. "Now we just need a house with a lil white fence. We'll get a pet dragon 'n everything."

More snickering as he closed his eyes. "Maybe summon the ghost of Chinabreath to really rub it in," Jack suggested. "Chris can be our manservant, Finn the bodyguard, and AK our secretary. I'll even allow your favorite fatass in as a court jester every once in a while."

"Why would Finn be our bodyguard?" she questioned, pushing herself off the ground and crawling onto Jack's frame, legs between his giant ones and ear on his chest. "Finn would kill us both 'n take our stuff for himself."
She grinned, having strangely large amounts of affection for Finn despite him being someone who wasn't exactly on the best terms with her right now. "Or at least me I guess. Ripples would make a better one. Neutral party." Chris was her first choice for bodyguard, of course, but he would have killed Jack in a heartbeat if he could.
It was fun reminiscing how many people wanted them A) not together, B) dead or C) a combination of A and B.
It had been a good birthday despite all things. "Thanks for rememberin' my birthday." Last year she'd spent it alone, having just broken up with Nevada, with the terrifying realization that her cousin was on the island. This was a considerable step up.

"Mm...Valid points, both."
He stretched out under her and hummed a sigh. His headache was starting to subside, and all things considered it hadn't been too bad; though he was lucky he did win that bet. He got to shoot some kids down, eat pizza, and satisfy some hidden requirement of himself he hadn't realized would feel so good after assuring them victory over a stupid plushie, and now he could top it off with the pleasant feeling of someone lying atop him on a comfy couch.
"Of course I would," Jack replied with a pat to her back. "It's after a shitty holiday. Plus a whole day dedicated to you means some fun s**t's going to go down one way or another, since, you know, you're a crazy b***h."

"Is that any way to speak to your wife" she said, feigning a hurt tone and stuffing her hand in front of his face. "I want a divorce, I'm takin' the dragon." Her hand fell back down to his arm, where she began tracing his veins again.
She blinked a few times and said, "Mm- I forgot- I was too drunk to tell you. We found the claws of one of them hercules lion things. Chris did, I mean. I found a pretty blue scale thing. Kinda looks like your dragon one, but tiny 'n blueish. They said it came from a hydra- not really sure why that's a big deal since we fight ********' hydras all the time but-" She shrugged as best she could lying down. "They're in the labs bein' reworked I guess- I can bring it to ya later so you can check it out."

Scowling, he made an indignant noise when she smudged his glasses with her hand and pressed it to his face, knocked her hand away and peeling the lenses up and off his face. "Way to gloat," he grumbled. "Good for you I guess. I could have used something cool too, thanks."

Chel rolled her eyes. "So sorry. Next time I'll call Zeus down and bring you some of his beard hairs."
She adjusted herself to where she could put her chin on the center of his chest and look up at him. "I would've brought you, but it was Chris' thing. He's the one who found that s**t in the first place. I'll find us somethin' bigger and better to bring back." She eased into a smile reserved only for Jack.
Her bracelet began beeping, something it hadn't done for a while. She had her suspicions all but confirmed that someone was controlling the beeping intervals. It had been nearly incessant when she'd first gotten it, but now it only happened when she slept or during inopportune moments.
The hand tracing Jack's veins went limp and her body dropped a few degrees in temperature. "Sorry," was all she could offer quietly. She couldn't make the beeping stop, and she knew Jack's headache was going to make him toss her off until it shut up. It almost felt like the bracelet was just a part of her now; just a physical manifestation of her inabilities.
She began to stir so she could eventually stand up and stand in the hall for a while until it stopped. She didn't want to risk pissing Jack off more.
