As yet another pokemon fell Sylvia watched as the boy underwent a change: he'd lost his easy grin and now sported a tip-lipped frown; he was showing signs of agitation. Maybe it had to do with the next pokemon he was going to send out: reluctant to send it out because of a type disadvantage? Or, perhaps, he'd just finally realized how futile his attempt was at catching her. One or the other, maybe even both, it didn't matter either way. As far as Sylvia would still battle his pokemon and send them back to him needing to visit the Pokémon Center.
With an attentiveness and eagerness only a battle-crazed pokemon could muster, Sylvia watched as the boy reluctantly sent out his Frogadier. Right, although she'd never seen a pokemon like this she could assume it was a water-type, which meant she could either take her time or-- "Quick Attack!" Sylvia froze out of sheer shock and made sure to make direct eye contact with the boy -- there was no use in trying to dodge the move-- before she was slammed into. There had to be some law against this! Or some courtesy violation in the Trainer's guide book. Spamming Quick Attack like this...
Swallowing back her anger she tried not to lose her cool as yet another Quick Attack used, but she made sure to return the favor by using Mega Drain each time, figuring she might as well be near full health in time to take on the boy's pokemon.
After the Frogadier fell victim to the second draining move Sylvia brushed herself off and turned a sharp-eyed look to the young boy with clear expectation. Only one pokemon left...

On the sidelines Ceti watched as Sylvia brushed herself off and winced as her hand passed over a particularly sensitive area, which prompted her eyes to drop down to the satchel Apollo had given her. She'd checked earlier, they had four Sweet Hearts left, which was more than enough for them to make it through another few battles-- or at least her, Sylvia just had to be difficult and dislike chocolate-- but just to be on the safe side she'd drag them both back to Apollo after this. It was a shame she'd only gotten in one battle herself, but she didn't want to take the chance for Sylvia to faint which would force her to literally drag her back.
Sylvia tipped her head in confusion when she saw the last pokemon the boy sent out, squinting her eyes the longer she stared at it in the hopes that she would gain clarification. It did not. Was that a... floating shield? It looked like it: a floating shield, no a sword AND shield, with two feather appendages on the sides and a single purple pupil below its hilt. It was interesting to stare at, though unnerving with its unabashed, one-eyed staring.
It proved to be a difficult opponent, using something called King's Shield to at first prevent Sylvia from landing an attack and then lower the power of them when she next used; not to mention the effective Aerial Slash it executed between her own attacks. Sylvia relished in it, however, and still managed to come out as a winner.
That's right, she'd done it: taken on four of the five of a trainer's pokemon all of whom, she wouldn't hesitate to add, were rather strong.

Sylvia was breathing heavily by the time Aegislash was recalled and a little wobbly on her feet, much to her embarrassment. "Seeeer." crooning softly she didn't see the pokeball that came flying at her and could only wince and mutter a pokemon's version of a curse as the capsule bounced off her skull. It landed on the ground with a sharp clack, a red light surrounding the Servine only to dissipate seconds later. "Huh?" the confusion on the boy's face was instant and for a few moments his eyes cut from the pokeball to Sylvia before realization began to dawn on him. "Wait, don't tell me you actually belong to someone!?"
He never got his answer and instead jumped back with a yelp as an Icy Wind was sent directly at his feet. "Clef!" ("Hey!") Ceti jumped in front of Sylvia, cheeks puffed out and hands balled together in righteous anger. "Clef, Clef, Clef, Cleffa!" ("Don't you dare throw another pokeball at her, or I'll knock your block off!") she reprimanded/threatened the boy and gave him a second to process this before she inhaled deeply, small chest puffing out, and sent another gust of frozen wind at his feet. "Alright, alright! I'm leaving already!" he was quick to retreat, so quick in fact that he didn't even realize the flap to his bag was open, allowing two items to pop out and clatter to the ground. "Cleeeeeeffa! ("And don't come back!")
Once the boy was gone Ceti turned to look at Sylvia, a smirk crossing her lips as they shared a look, before, without another word, she toddled over to the discarded items. Another small bag and a little gem were hers for the taking, and she did; without hesitating she scooped them up, shuffling them in her arms, and made a sharp 180 degree spin to begin walking back. "C'mon!" her call was muffled by the small pile of items in her way. "Let's go back to Apollo."
Sylvia made a face and winced, simply choosing to watch Ceti struggle before she sighed gently. In two long strides she'd caught up with the small puff and, leaning over, grabbed the gem and one of the satchels. Ceti peered up at her curiously. "What?" Sylvia made a noise when the other chose to simply shake her head. "Nothing~" Clucking her tongue the Servine decided to continue walking ahead in lieu of needling her for an answer.
The Pokémon Center was already within sight when Sylvia next spoke. "..Thanks, for the that." Ceti gave a cry of surprise and nearly stumbled, to which Sylvia rolled her eyes at. "Heh. Don't mention it!"
Ceti harassed convinced a child to give her 5 Rare Candies and a Fighting Gem!

Training with Eris included teaching her a new move, Stone Edge, via TM and then sending her against the nearest pokemon, which happened to be a Blitzle. It wasn't the most elegant of plans, Apollo would admit, but it proved effective enough. With the help of Kahn the two managed to put the higher-leveled pokemon down, which was just another reminder for Apollo to try and equally divide up training his pokemon from now on.
"Thanks for the help, Kahn." Apollo returned the feline with a word of thanks and a promise to heal him soon, Eris too. He'd wait a bit, however, for either another pokemon to show up or for Ceti and Sylvia to return, whichever came first; and as it would turn out it was the latter. The two pokemon approached him without a sound, Ceti tugging on the leg of Apollo's pant to announce their arrival and once given attention handed him back the Sweet Hearts, as well as two extra items.
"Where did you two get these?" Apollo questioned, just a hint of suspicion in his inquiry. In the past Ceti had been known to 'acquire' certain things when they visited populated areas like this; he certainly wasn't calling his pokemon a thief, but it did make him wonder... Of course, he couldn't wonder for long and after giving Sylvia a once over instantly made for the Pokémon Center. "I take it you find some pokemon to battle?" he mused and the Servine gave a sharp nod, amusement in her own actions. "Good. Keep that up and you'll evolve in no time."

As usual, Nurse Joy healed his pokemon with a cheerful smile and without a single objection, returning them to him without her expression waning in the slightest. Did those positive sunbeams ever frown? It was a legitimate question, at least in his mind. Weren't there some days when the pink-haired woman woke up on the wrong side of the bed and couldn't muster up the strength to smile at every single last trainer that came in with hurt pokemon?
It was when he was thinking of his next plan of action, and playing out the scenario of a grumpy Nurse Joy, when Apollo heard a stranger ask a rather intriguing question, that he was almost certain pertained to him. Apollo didn't couldn't pinpoint what exactly caused him to listen in, the man had spoken just slightly above conversational level so it wasn't as if he'd been eavesdropping, perhaps it was the foreign accent; German or Russian, maybe? It took him a few seconds to process the exact words, but he perked up once it did.
Motioning for his pokemon to follow Apollo approached the taller male from the side, taking in his appearance and the mini-oven floating near him, before he spoke up. "I could be the man you're looking for." he announced. "I caught a couple of water-types yesterday." his lips curled into a slow smile and he tilted his chin up to stare into the man's eyes. "You hear about me from somewhere or do you just go around asking that question at every Pokémon Center you visit?"

What luck... Zak lifted his head up, a charming sort of smirk crossing his face as he turned his head to look at the man. He pushed off the counter, turning towards him, looking down the few inches of their height difference. "Really..." he remarked. He sounded intrigued and curious, and he was -- though for more reasons, looking at the guy, than just the mention of water pokemon -- but he was fairly skeptical that this really was who he was looking for. What were the odds, after all? Yes, the pokemon had been caught relatively near, but... seriously? For him to happen to be in the exact right area, at the exact right pokecenter, asking the exact right question with the exact right person close enough to hear? Please... Fate wasn't that kind.
"Zere vouldn't happen to be a Froakie en zat mix, vould zere?" he asked, turning his head as Nurse Joy returned the pokemon, looking curiously between them. "Sank you," he added to her in a low voice, taking his pokemon and placing the pokeballs back in place. He turned his attention back to Apollo, stepping around to get out of the way of others, but still keeping eye contact, crossing his arms over his chest. "And I ask et often, akshully," he added with a smirk, "Vater types happen to be my favoreet." Daeva gave an angry chirp on his shoulder, and he reached up a soothing hand to console her, adding, "Usully." Which seemed to placate her and let her settle back down and accept the attention.

Russian. His accent was definitely Russian. Apollo slid both thumbs into the pockets of his pants and gave a nod of confirmation the stranger's question, giving him a quick once-over before his lips parted and he gave a verbal answer, "yeah, I've got one of those." Technically he had four Froakie's, but he doubt this man needed the specifics and exact number. He gave a soft chuckle, the corners of his eyes crinkling in amusement. "That so? I guess today's your lucky day then, you had the good fortune of running into me." he didn't know exactly how true his claim was true, walking into every Pokémon Center and asking the same question over and over didn't seem effective. "Statistically speaking, you were bound to eventually find someone like that." he added absently. Even if those chances were extremely low, they were still existent.
"I'm Apollo." he slid his hand slowly from out of the confines of his pocket, offering Zakhav a hand to shake as he introduced himself. He doubted that this would be one of those conversations that involved simply mentioning his specific pokemon and then walking away from each other. "You wouldn't, perhaps, want this Froakie of mine?" his tone hinted towards teasing and was accompanied by a c**k of the head, a few bangs slipping down in that direction. "If you want, I'd be willing to trade it with you; just so long as you're willing to make it worth my while." Purposefully keeping his suggestion vague, he left it up to the other's interpretation as to just how he could do that before a coy smile fluttered across his expression.
Of course he meant another pokemon, or a few items. This was a stranger he'd just met after all; he had standards and a decent amount of self-respect. But, that didn't mean he couldn't let him think he meant something else. It'd been a while since he'd had a pleasant conversation with another person around his age that didn't necessarily lead to a battle, and, he wouldn't lie, this one was easy on the eyes.

Zak raised an eyebrow, his smirk turning a bit more quizzical. He... He had a Froakie? Really.... Huh. Well, that was convenient. "I see...." he remarked with interest. He was quiet, then put on a bit of a grin. "Statistically speaking, I suppose," he admitted, "but cohnseedering I've only been asking recently, I vould almost say et vas fated..." Yeah, that, or he stalked him. To be fair, he hadn't even expected to find the guy here, and he hadn't even done research on him. Still, though... it wasn't exactly by chance, but it was, yet, still astoundingly lucky.
He straightened up as the man introduced himself, reaching forward to shake his hand in return. "Zak," he introduced in return. He couldn't really help the smirking smile that crossed his face; it was pretty much always there, but it was always especially present when there was something particularly admirable (ie attractive) before him. And Apollo certainly fit the bill. 'Vat a pretty boy...' he thought, not entirely in condescension-- indeed, it was more a remark of appreciation. Apollo looked like he should be on the front of a magazine, modeling fitting jeans and stylish shirts (or less).
Chuckling, Zak pulled his hand back, gesturing absently off to the side while placing his other hand in his pocket. "You've caught me. I vas hopeng you might be enterested in a trade," he admitted. He lifted his head a bit, looking at Apollo with a questioning, curious gaze. Was that innuendo, or simply unintentionally vague wording? Zak felt an interested tingling run up his spine. It had been a while since he really flirted-- really flirted, with actual intent. But... Ah, a shame, he had a gym battle to get to, and another after that. His pokemon were getting to the brink of disobedience, and it wouldn't be smart to risk getting distracted. Even with something as... tantalizing as the man in front of him.
"Vell, I'm sure I can trade you somsing for et," he remarked with a bit of amusement. Tempting as it was to offer something else, there actually was a pokemon he needed to get rid of. "I have a nuzzer Rotom, eef you are enterested," he started, looking sideways at Meebus for a reaction. He didn't get one, and it took all his willpower not to narrow his eyes in suspicion. He looked back to Apollo. "And I also have several rock pokemon," he added, "But eef neizer of zose are uv enterest, I cahn alvays try and find somsing else." But hopefully at least one of them would. It would be nice to be down one pesky electric pokemon, but he could also get some pay off from all those rock pokemon he'd caught. He wasn't even sure how many he had, now...

Apollo tilted his head to one side, a considerate look crossing his face when Zak mentioned fate. He wasn't the biggest believer of fate. Sure, it had its romantic properties but what it boiled down to was a world where every decision, interaction, etc. was already predetermined, which didn't sit well with him; he liked to imagine that he had some say in his life and the direction it went in. "It was certainly something." Apollo agreed, deciding to direct his response in 'happy medium' territory. No need to subject the poor man to a long-winded rant on his views of the world and the powers that controlled them; it was the type of heavy topic you didn't just suddenly spring on anyone.
"A pleasure, Zak." and he meant that in every sense of the word. Apollo drew his hand back to his person and chose to keep it by his side rather than slip it back into his pocket. With their lull in conversation, he took the time to get a better look at Zak and create a firmer opinion of him. Although it wasn't necessarily a rare occurrence, it wasn't everyday he found himself needing to look up at a person; 6'1" wasn't the tallest height, but it certainly had him tilting his head down to talk to the majority of people. Zak seemed the athletic type, and the sort who'd look good running down a field, court, etc.; basically any sort of motion or activity almost guaranteed to show him in a positive light.
Apollo gave a nod of the head, "I figured as much." He did his best not to react to the shift in emotions in Zak's stare, he'd apparently caught on to the lightly implied suggestion, and kept his current 'innocent' expression; the sharper curve to his lips that hinted towards deviousness the only indicator that might say otherwise. "Hold on a second and I'll go get it for you." he excused himself before making the short trip over to the PC, booting it up and logging in to his storage. He was greeted by a small screen filled with rows of water-type pokemon-- Arceus, he'd certainly caught quite a few-- and after staring at the first few scrolled down to his collection of Froakie. It was obvious that he needed to find something to do with these pokemon, whether it be training, trading, or releasing them, but for now at least he knew what he could do with one of them.
After withdrawing the amphibian Apollo made sure to log off and shut down before he turned on his heel, pokeball in hand, and strode back to Zak. The man certainly had a few tempting offers, and when he mentioned another Rotom he followed his gaze to stare at the little mini-oven that still hovered nearby. He actually didn't know much about that particular pokemon: a lack of knowledge on his part that he quickly corrected with a simple scan of his Pokedex. It was an interesting little pokemon: ghost and electric, with the ability to actually change its typing. "I'll take the Rotom." Apollo decided and closed his pokedex with a decisive snap. There was a pause, and in that time a slow grin appeared. "And your number."
Did he need a reason why he wanted it? He didn't think so, he was sure it was obvious enough; but he gave one, nevertheless. An honest one at that. "You seem like an interesting guy that I'd enjoy getting to know better. Of course, I'll give you mine as well." he stated, and even went as far as to get out a pen and paper to scribble his name and number out on before he offered both, paper and pokeball, to Zak.

Hmm.... Safe to say Apollo was 'interested'? It seemed like it. Zak let his eyes follow him as he headed over to the PC, not bothering to let his gaze wander a bit while the man worked to get the Froakie for him. Nor did he bother really trying to hide that as he lifted his attention back up on his return, meeting his gaze with a lazy, confident smirk. Some part of him was practically biting at the bit to turn the flirting onto his 'heavy' setting, but...
Business before pleasure.
He didn't take his gaze from Apollo until the man confirmed what he'd like to trade. "Fine vis me," he admitted with a tad touch of amusement, "I vas hopeng to find sumsing useful to do vis et." He reached back, grabbing the ball from his bag, where it had been since he'd caught the pokemon. His gaze returned to Apollo's and his smirk grew at the mention of exchanging numbers, and he offered the ball, taking the paper and looking it over. "I certainly have no qvalms vis zat..." he murmured. He reached over, leaning intentionally close, still keeping his eyes locked with Apollo's, and plucked the pen from his hand as well. He straightened back up, writing his number down on the paper and tearing the piece off, handing it, and the pen, back to him.
"I'm not vone for socialization, typically," he admitted, "But I suppose I vouldn't mind haveng an opportunity to... chat later." He tucked the paper away. "Unfortunately, for now, I vas lookeng to challenge ze gym leader," he added. Which he really did want, and need, to do. Heck, he needed to be challenging the third gym leader, but, sadly... he sort of had to do them in order. "But assumeng you vill be en zis region a vhile... I'm sure ve can meet up again," he added with a bit more of an obvious, flirty smirk crossing his face.

Apollo didn't know whether to laugh or to respond with some flirtatious action when he returned from his quick visit to the PC to find that Zak's eyes had lingered on his person the entire time; talk about flattering. He chose for a combination of both, a low chuckle escaping him before he winked. A line danced on the tip of his tongue, begging to be said, but he held back and instead soaked in the ego-inflating moment.
In the few seconds it took Zak to retrieve the Rotom the bright-haired male's thoughts actually turned to more pokemon related thoughts. A Rotom would be an interesting new member to his team, his second electric-type and yet the only one who could change its form freely and as many times as he wanted; he'd have to figure out just how exactly it managed to accomplish said feat, but one step at a time. He turned his attention to Zak's outstretched hand before he took the pokeball in his hand, handing him over the one that held the Froakie. "Great." he flashed a grin when the taller male agreed to the second part of his 'deal'. The expression was still apparent when Zak took the pen from his grasp, a thrill running through him at the uninterrupted eye contact the two maintained throughout the entire duration of the exchange, as well as just the general proximity that had been between two. Zak had been close and he was happy to report that he looked even better from that distance.
Apollo's chest expanded as he took a deeper breath than the ones previous, putting his pen into his pocket before fishing his XTransciever out to begin inserting Zak's number into his contacts. "Is that so?" his gaze flickered upwards and away from the screen to stare back at him, bright blue eyes narrowed playfully. "I'll make sure this exception of yours is well worth your time then." Once he'd finished putting the number in, saved underneath the, obvious, name 'Zak', he put the device away and returned his full attention to him. Right, gym leaders.. battling... earning gym badges; hadn't he been doing that earlier? He oughta get back to that soon. Apollo emitted a sound of amusement when faced with Zak's flirty smirk and reciprocated his own. "I look forward to seeing you again, good luck against Lenora."

Alright, so the guy had definitely placed himself on Zak's list. His "I'm bored I'm interested in sex" list, but... still a list. Attractive and clearly interested? Why the hell not. He'd have to try calling him up for a date sometime. For now, though, he simply kept up the flirty smirk, placing his hands in his pockets as he looked at Apollo. He chuckled to his 'Good luck'. "Spaseeba," he replied, and though it was in Russian, the tone of his voice conveyed the 'Thank you' well enough, "Same to you." At least in regards to seeing him again. He didn't know if the blond was planning to take on any gym leaders soon, but he would assume so.
Giving a nod of farewell, he stepped back, then, with one last once-over, turned to start walking towards the exit of the pokecenter. He made sure he, Meebus, and Daeva were clear, and that Apollo hadn't followed them out and wasn't in ear shot, before speaking up. "So," he remarked with his same rolling Russian drawl, "I just traded zat friend you vere so adament on catcheeng-- or zat vas so adamant on being caught... and yet, you don't seem ze least beet bozered." He looked at the rotom from the corner of his eye. Meebus simply continued floating along, looking straight ahead. "He seemed nice enough," the pokemon remarked after a moment. Zak raised an eyebrow. "He seemed nice... You got zat from vat leetal he sayd?" he questioned. That was a rather... fast assumption, considering.
Meebus finally turned, looking at him slightly as he continued floating to keep up. "You seemed fond of him," he pointed out observationally. A grinning smirk quickly curled its way over Zak's face. "Eet vasn't he's personality I vas eenterested en, zo..." he pointed out in a low, greatly amused, and slightly lascivious, voice. Meebus shifted his gaze away, apparently considering this, and then simply looked forward once more. "I am sure |20+0M will be fine," he decided simply. Zak narrowed his eyes a bit. Why did the name sound weird when he said it...

Raising an eyebrow, and ultimately deciding to leave the subject as it was, Zak turned his attention forward. He let his thoughts shift to the upcoming battle, a smirk crossing his face as he cracked his knuckles. He pulled out a pair of gloves-- an increasingly familiar pair of gloves-- and tugged them on, but stopped just outside the door to the gym. He looked down at his communication device, which he had pulled out to check for messages, and possibly to enter Apollo's information. He had a message.... from Miss Fortune. A sneer crossed his face, but he closed it for now and focused on putting in the new contact, smirking at the much more pleasant note scribbled on the piece of paper. He crumpled it up, though, once his information was in, and shoved it into his pocket as the much less pleasant task of addressing the message was tackled.
He could always put it off till after his gym... but why bother. He opened it up, raising an eyebrow with a more than skeptical look on his face, mouth shut in a snide, doubtful frown. Yes... She was certainly returning the pleasant greeting. Didn't seem surprising at all considering their last reaction had been less than civil, and his own message hadn't been short a note from 'condescending'. He mulled over the decision on whether to even look up the actual translation of the phrase-- and ultimately, took the quick second it took to do so. He rolled his eyes, then returned to the message, reading through the rest.
And then that smile, that infamous smirk curled its way onto his face. Oh, well, now... that just begged to be called on. He shifted his weight and brought his hands up, quickly typing out a response of his own, and then snapping the device off, putting it back into his pocket. He felt much better now, with that done. Good enough to win a battle.
"I'm here to challenge the gym," he called out as he entered, unable to keep his usual lackadaisical draw from his voice, though he skillfully wiped any trace of his accent from it. The woman stepped out, hands on her hips, a smile on her face. "Well alright-y then!" she accepted, giving a hearty nod, "Name's Lenora! I'll be taking that challenge of yours." He raised an eyebrow, smirking back at her, and lifting up Deys' pokeball. "Hope your ready, then," he coolly replied.

At least I was trying to be educational and cultural, Miss Fortune. You should wash that mouth out with soap.
Oh, yes, of course. I'm sure you got your hands on all their valuables. All their 'family jewels'....
Oh good, you're starting to catch up-- sort of. At least I know you're working hard, increasing your value. As an investor, it's much appreciated.
Take care, Mishka.

Gym Leader Lenora
Lenora withdrew her pokemon with a firm nod, a smile plastered across her face despite the fact that she'd lost. "You've got some strong pokemon on ya." she praised. She strode confidently to present Zak with his winnings, one hand on her hip as she extended the other one, open-palmed, towards him. "As proof of your victory I present to you one Basic Badge, as well as a few other things I'm sure you'll find useful."

Zak smirked as the battle ended, and gave an appreciative, albeit far from modest, nod as Lenora complimented his pokemon. He gave another, more polite nod as she handed him his things, lifting a hand. "Thank you, I'm sure I'll find a use for them," he replied, then turned, leaving. Or not. He looked at the TM thoughtfully, but he wasn't sure he'd be able to use it much. Regardless, he put the badge and item away, heading for the pokecenter. He needed to make sure to heal up his pokemon, but as soon as he had them all back to full health, he started towards the forest again. He would try and make it through there quickly-- chatter was starting to pick up about something, and he could busy himself researching it while he headed there. Even without that motivation, though, his pokemon were getting stronger, and he didn't want to risk any of them getting too strong.
