Marx blinked when Cheria knew right off the bat what he was talking about, and grinned, snapping his fingers as she mentioned the correct pronunciation. "Yeah, that's it!" he chimed happily, completely missing Alexandra's reaction to his rather... horrific attempt at naming the location. He laced his fingers together behind his head, which was tilted curiously to the side as Cheria began to explain what evolution was. For once, that doofus grin was removed from his face, and he seemed to be sincerely paying attention, though his face scrunched up in confusion at the mention of pokemon going berserk. He'd definitely never heard of anything like that...
But then again, he'd never heard of mega evolution. Just the idea, though, seemed weird to him. Pokemon going berserk? Why would they possibly do that? Obviously, he was a bit... thick headed, and perhaps a little sheltered. He didn't hear about all the incidents of such things, the stuff certain organizations had done to, or with, pokemon in their attempts to gain more power. He would probably be horrified if he did... so it was probably best that he didn't. At least for the time being.
At the mention of Sceptile mega evolving, though, Marx immediately perked up, dropping his hands and leaning forward a bit. "What, wait, really?" he remarked, clearly enthused by the idea. As if hearing his name, Basil emerged from his pokeball, giving his trainer a sort of, 'What did you do now, you moron?' kind of look. Marx just beamed back at him. "That would be awesome! Did you hear that, Basil? You can evolve again!" he remarked, beaming. "Gro..." Basil was clearly unimpressed-- he probably thought Marx was just referring to his third evolution, which... normal people would probably know, but he seemed to assume even that could get past Marx. Which was a.... sadly fair assumption, really.
Marx looked ahead as they neared the shore, though, brightening even more, and taking each of the girls' hands. "C'mon! It looks like the boat's about to leave! Let's hurry so we can get to Petalburg and find a train!" he urged, gently tugging them both to rush off and get on the ferry back to the main land.

With a bit of 'assistance' from Marx, Alexandra found herself onto the ferry much faster than she'd anticipated and was soon settled down into a seat with her eyes trailing off to look over the sea. Caldo settled down in the seat beside her, shifting and squirming until he was comfortable, but once the ferry started up found himself a victim to its soothing rocking and fell asleep slumped against her shoulder. The brunette didn't seem to mind and only rolled her shoulders once or twice when it felt as if it were going numb. It was a relatively quiet trip, at least on her end, as she had fallen into a reflective silence; her mind preoccupied with slowly formulated plans that would begin once they arrived in Cyllage.

Dewford Island quickly came into view over the horizon, drawing Eon's attention to the large mountain at it's northern end. "That would be Granite Cave, 'bout the only place you'll find wild Pokemom on the island." Called Mr. Briney. Eon glanced back, nodding. She hadn't known that ,but her destination was the cave anyway. Turning towards Gio, Eon motioned towards the island with her head. "So I guess you're going for the Gym first? I'd love to watch, but I sort of want to be surprised with... well, everything." She grinned. "I'll be heading towards the cave myself." Should she really tell him any more then that? She'd already divulged her memory loss, she couldn't really tell him more on that... Come to think of it.... ' Why do I want that Kabuto so bad anyway?' she raked her brain for the answer, but nothing responded.... was it just the thrill of what sounded like a rare Pokemon? The way Resa had worded it suggested Kabuto were not at all common in the Granite Cave.

Dewford at last, and Mr. Briney confirmed that the looming mountain in the distance was in fact a place where Pokemon were known to be. Judging by the name, it was a place that had alot of rock and ground types. Most importantly though Giovanni wondered if there was Steel types hiding in there somewhere.
Eon suggested that he might have wanted to go to the Gym first. Normally this would have been the case but after seeing that mountian for the first time it kind of changed his mind. Assuming of course there are Steel types in it. "Well, that just depends on if any Steel types are in Granite Cave?" he mumbled with a somewhat starstuck grin. His team was full but there was always room to train a new Pokemon if he wanted to. The hard part was thinking of which one needed the least training to replace with.
Hoenn was actually shaping out to be more than he thought the people were friendly and the Pokemon were far different than what he was used to seeing. What he really wanted was a Steel type he had never er seen before.

It seemed Gio's mind was strictly on Steel-type Pokemon, not on fossils. Maybe he was trustworthy after all? Eon shrugged her shoulders,she wasn't to sure herself if there were any steel-types in the cave. As the ship came into port, Briny moved out from his station and quickly put down the gangplank that allowed one to leave the ship. He turned back towards the two trainers and whistled. "All to shore who's going to shore!" Briney called. Eon turned with a grin, quickly making her way off the ship, holding up her hands to hug Nori, who was still attatched to her chest. "Thank you, Mr. Briney!" she called as she dashed down the plank.

Up and off the floating vessel they went as soon as the plank was laid out for them. It definitely wasn't a big island that was for sure, but he was certain that the mountain was the reason for that. Type advantage was everything verse Steel type Pokemon and next to his Lucario be only had one Pokemon that knew a move that was deadly to most Steel type. "Only because type advantage is the way to beat Steel, I'm choosing my Steelix, Rusty, and his Fire Fang to help me catch the ones that could be hiding here" be said as he looked over at Eon while he unclipped a Pokeball from his belt. "Come on out Rusty!" he proclaimed while he launched the Ball into the air releasing a red light that produced the gaint Steel snake. The Steelix roared happy to finally see some daylight. "Alright buddy so your gonna be my go to for the day, we will be doing some training but I need you to help me find some Pokemon as well." if you looked closely a slight nod from the Pokemon seemed to approve what Gio was wanting.
Giovanni turned back to face Eo with his hand on the snake, "So which way to the cave?" he asked his amnesia struck companion. That was the real question at least. He wondered a few others like had she ever seen a Steelix before? Or if the Gym was really within eyesight like he was thinking. Neither of the last two were of major concern for the simple fact he was more interested at this point and time in trying to find some new Steel type Pokemon.

Eon watched Gio has he released his Steelix. So type advantage was key when taking down Steel-type Pokemon, and the way he'd said it, it seemed fire-types were on top. It made her ponder a bit about that... something like type advantage over another Pokemon should be like counting to ten for a 1st grader... It frustrated her that she was so oblivious to such things Whatever the case, she motioned towards the north, they'd went around the island a bit to dock at the town's center. "I think it was that way." She motioned. Lowering her gaze to the path ahead, she pulled at Nori, finding the bug's positioning sort of uncomfortable now. With Saga's aid, they managed to put Nori on her back. eon's thick cropped jacket made a better barrier between Nori's sticky cocoon and her body, plus she could simply take off her jacket if she wanted to let Nori rest on the ground.

Giovanni walked out of the Cave and much to his dismay it was raining, and hard at that. He really wasn't feeling like changing into his rain jacket and so he ran towards where he remembered the Gym being.
Lucario on the other hand paused as he felt the presence of another Lucario and an evil feeling Aura back in the Cave near Eon. It seemed a if she was battling the other Lucario. Suddenly he felt one of her Pokemon's Auras grow faint and then eventually become unsensible. He felt like telling Gio what was happening but there was another Pokemon he could sense and it seemed to scare off the Evil Aura. He decided it best to keep quite and not but in. He knew Giovanni would turn around in a heart beat but if this Trainer was so heartless as to kill a Pokemon it was probably best to avoid them.
Giovanni arrived in front of the Gym drenched in water from the storm. Stepping in he took one look at the Gym and was unsure which of his Pokemon would be best to use. Finally he decided that since his Aegislash did so good at the last Gym he would decide to use it again. "My name is Giovanni Versechi, and I'm here to challenge you!" he proclaimed as he unclipped the Ghost type Pokemon ball. Then with his signature phrase he was ready to battle "I'm gonna show you just why Steel is no joke and the best type, Go Aegislash! " he let the sword and shield out of its ball.

Brawly blinked as his gym was entered, challenged, and then filled with another pokemon. He turned towards the trainer, though, instinctively moving to his designated spot on the battle field. "Ho! Well then, fine by me! I've been looking for a battle. If you'd had a bit more patience, though, things might have gone a little easier for you!" he remarked. After all, no intelligent gym leader would send a pokemon out against one it had no ability to hit, and with Koukaze's Aegislash sent out immediately, he knew to pick Makuhita, instead, as his first pokemon. Brawley started off with a Makuhita. Gio remembered fighting one of these back in Granite Cave and it was abit of a challenge. However he was certain he could deal with it this time around.
"Aegislash use Kings Shield" the Pokemon's Stance changed from Sword to Shield Forme. Giovanni grabbed a Pokeballs from his belt and threw it out. "Aegislash come back, come on out Skarmory." Giovanni smiled for a moment as his larger than normal Steel bird took to the skies and began to fly around the Gym.

Brawly folded his arms over his chest, an amused smile on his face. "Well, good for you, then! You're a true steel trainer," he commented, impressed. It took a lot of guts to go against a type advantage, and still avoid making things too easy. He lifted his head as his opponent blocked his attack, grinning, even when it was returned. "Help make up for that by using Bulk Up, Makuhita!" he instructed. It wasn't really a lost turn, given they were basically given a free attack, and it raised their dfense, too. Hopefully it would help balance things back out.

A chuckle came from the Steel type Trainer as the Gym Leader called him a true Steel Trainer. "Well that's what happens when you grow up in Jasmine's Gym, everything I know about Steel Types I learned from her" his Aegislash blocked the incoming attack just before he switched it out for his Skarmory. The six foot bird flew out and immediately took to the skies, it loved to battle and it loved to test its skill. The Makuhita used Bulk Up to bolster its defense and part of the attack it just lost. "Nice, lets see how you take a Swift attack. Go Skarmory!" the Steel Type began to make a dive towards the grounded Pokemon and shot stars from its mouth towards the Fighting Type now in front of it.
"It might not be the strongest attack but it definitely helps with the combo" he said as he was waiting for the Gym Leader to give his next attack. In actually there was only one move he could think of using at this point to help him beyond this point and it was a similar combo to what he used against Misty back in Kanto

Brawly nodded in recognition of the mention of Jasmine. Sweet gal, ran a steel type gym in Olivine. The gym leaders across the regions were fairly familiar with each other. "Then you had a great tutor. Jasmine's pretty tough." He commented with a grin. Makuhita took the swift attack fairly well, but it still hurt. Their bolstered defenses couldn't do anything against a special attack, but Brawly wasn't deterred. Using Bulk Up again at this point would only get their attack back to normal, and Brawly wanted to get in and do some damage before the Skarmory wiped them out. "Alright Makuhita, use Knock Off!" He instructed. This time, it would hit without any repercussions.

The Makuhita used the Knock Off attack again, "That one again eh? Well check this out, Skarmory use Bravebird" the Steel bird rounded off the attack and ove straight towards the Pokemon it was battling. A bluish and orange glow came from its head streaking past the birds tail feathers as it dove head first towards the Fighting type. They connected and it was quite obvious there was recoil damage. "Atta girl" Gio said as his Pokemon took back to the skies and began flying around the Gym again.
