Considering what he said a moment, Ajicka shrugged, frowning a bit as she looked down at the Cyndaquil with a raised eyebrow. "Just lazy, then," she supposed. She hadn't seen a pokemon remain that comatose. Then again... She pulled out one of her pokeballs, looking at it, then glancing off to the side, before tucking it away again. She would just have to train Gyarados out of the lazy tendencies she'd noticed. It had been a while since she really worked with him at all, actually, so.... maybe he'd already trained himself out of it. At any rate,
"Out of practice?" she repeated. She looked back down at the Cyndaquil as he explained about his decided tactic, and mentioned a TM, lifting her head a bit and making a off hand encouraging gesture. "If you show me the TM, I may be able to identify it. I study those things like a religion," she commented, "They're extremely handy for strategizing, after all." She looked Sebastian over a moment with an appraising gaze, then raised an eyebrow, the other lowering in a dubious, questioning expression. "You mentioned being 'out of practice'. You've done this before?" she asked. He did look old. Well, older. Older than her, at least, though that wasn't necessarily saying much.
She glanced back at Fearow when Sebastian praised him, smirking a little as the bird lifted his head proudly, then rolling her eyes. "Yeah, well, that's probably just from the flying he's been doing. Battle wise, he's probably out of shape," she remarked, still smirking, even as the bird pokemon snapped his head down and gave her a sharp glare out of the corner of his eyes. Her grin just grew, and she turned her expression back to Sebastian, outright laughing at his description of Charmanders. "Not Jas," she remarked, grinning a much more fond grin, "He was an utter marshmellow. He still is, kind of. He only recently started realizing that he's actually gotten pretty strong."
She looked down at the Mightyena as Sebastian announced its name in a return question, nodding a bit as he mentioned their native region. She was actually from Hoenn-- she could definitely account to their greater frequency there. She folded her arms over her chest, lifting a hand up as Fearow brought his head around to roughly try and nudge her again, this time shoving his head away before he got the chance. He took it as a dismissal, stepping away and turning, lifting his wings to stretch them out as he began observing the area while Ajicka listened. He settled into place behind his trainer, facing perpendicular to her, but still eying Sebastian and his pokemon from the corner of his eye.
Listening, Ajicka frowned, perturbed and slightly confused by his wording. 'Left'.... That didn't sound like a normal pokemon exchange. It sounded like abandonment, maybe even worse with the way he said it. "Hm... Yeah, they are. What, did they think something was wrong with him?" she guessed. Even she'd noticed the twitching, but she wasn't sure if that had any relation to the story. She straightened, though, when Sebastian mentioned ghosts, narrowing her gaze with a thoughtful frown. ".... You're from Lavender Town?" she guessed. It was the only place with ghosts in Kanto that she knew of. Or at least, certainly the most famous for it.

Sebastian chuckled at the ‘just lazy’ comment. ”That’s a possibility. Knowing my luck, I wouldn’t be surprised.” He watched Ajicka curiously as she pulled out a pokeball and looked at it, an eyebrow raising curiously at the action. He wondered briefly what pokemon was contained inside, but opted to avoid asking.
Sebastian smiled again and nodded. ”Ah, ya. Out of practice. It’s been a while since I’ve been on a trainer journey. This isn’t my first go around.” He looked thoughtful a moment as Ajicka mentioned being willing to identify the TM for him. There was certainly no harm in that right? Plus, it would help to know exactly what he’d been given before trying to teach it to any of his pokemon, seeing as how the man hadn’t stuck around to really tell him and all. ”Sure, actually. If you wouldn’t mind.” He remarked, reaching into his bag and rummaging a moment before producing the disk, holding it out to her.
Once he’d handed it off he glanced at Fearow as it responded to her remarked, having to work hard to suppress a grin as Ajicka laughed and mentioned her starter. ”A marshmallow? Really now?” He nodded. ”You must be a strong trainer than, huh? You far along on your own journey?”
He paused a moment, giving a side glance at Spade. His gaze narrowed as though considering something for a moment before finally his head tilted ever so slightly, looking still lost in thought for a moment. I assume they thought he was dead. Not much else a reason to leave him at our doorstep like they did.” He remarked in a rather nonchalant fashion, as though he were speaking about a change in weather conditions and not a rather eerie topic. He shook his head, perking up and nodding at the mention of Lavender Town.
”Yup. Indeed I do. I guess the ghosts mentioning makes it kind of obvious.” He paused a moment, offering out a hand to shake. ”The name’s Sebastian, by the way.”

Deciding not to comment-- or inquire-- Ajicka simply raised an eyebrow at Sebastian's response to his sleepy Cyndaquil. Beautiful as that alliteration was, it wouldn't do very well if his primary pokemon was vastly uninterested in battle. Jas was, well... absolutely essential to her victories in the past. How many fire pokemon could take down a water gym, after all? And yet, he'd been there in the forefront, and because of his high level-- and some strategic movesets-- he'd won. But, the guy probably wasn't looking for a lecture or a lesson, and Ajicka was fairly sure he'd figure it out on his own one way or another. For now, she'd just hold her tongue. Probably.
"When did you first try? I mean... what happened to the pokemon you had then?" she questioned, frowning. She crossed her arms over her chest, and though she may not have really been trying to appear slightly accusatory, her body language and tone may have sort of suggested that. After all, regardless of his reasons, it sort of looked like he'd just abandoned them when he had to take a break. 'Out of practice' certainly seemed to suggest he wasn't training them or doing anything with them, after all. Hopefully he didn't have them cooped up in a PC or something...
She straightened up, the frown lifting as he actually agreed to let her identify the TM, and she held a hand out. It didnt take more than a glance, though, before she handed it back. "Fire Blast," she reported, "I know because I just got it before I came here." What were the chances? She raised an eyebrow, tilting her head. "You're lucky to get such a powerful TM so early on. If your cyndaquil can actually wake up, it'll have a pretty strong move under its belt." She placed a hand on her hip and tilted her head to the side, looking down at the snoozing pokemon. Yeesh... She couldn't deal with that, if it was her pokemon. She practically needed motivated pokemon, or at least ones that were willing to try. Unless the pokemon knew snore, or sleep talk, or a whole lotta other useful moves, having one like that would drive her practically insane.
She nodded a bit as Sebastian repeated her description of Jas, smiling a bit with her eyes cast off to the side. Eugh, she missed him. But, she'd see him again soon, when she headed back to Kanto. She looked back to the other trainer when he asked how far on her journey she was, gesturing aimlessly with a shrug. "I actually just defeated the seventh gym leader. S'how I got that TM. I was going to go battle the eighth but one of my pokemon recommended a break, so... I'm training up some of my others. Given how close it is... I'm guessing you just picked up your pokemon at the lab a little bit ago?"
At the explanation of Spade's story, Ajicka frowned, the look on her face a mix of deadpan and disapproval. There were just so many things wrong with that story. So. Many. Especially for her. The frown slowly twisted into a sneer, and her expression darkened considerably. "They left him at your doorstep? Because they thought he was dead? Who the hell does that?" she replied, her fingers unconsciously curling into fists. She shook her head, taking a deep breath and looking away, trying to cool her anger back off. People. Sometimes she couldn't understand a damn thing they did. Honestly...
Shaking her head again, she looked back at Sebastian, this time crossing her arms over her chest. She raised an eyebrow, paused, then uncrossed them to reach out and shake his hand in return. "... Ajicka," she replied, "I'm actually originally from Hoenn, but I've been traveling most of my life. Never spent a lot of time in Lavender, though... It seemed too depressing. I take it you're not a fan of ghost types? I would think you'd sort of have to be to live there..."

- Sebastian smiled as she accepted his hand shake. "A pleasure to meet you, Ajicka."
"It’s been what… well over a decade since I last tried?" Sebastian looked lost in thought as he tried to pinpoint the timeline. Ten or so years seemed about right… his brother would be turning ten this year after all and he’d started because that was as young as you could be to be a trainer he recalled. If he’d noticed the accusatory actions Ajicka seemed to be giving, he didn’t show it, looking rather un-phased by it. A regular person probably would’ve been insulted to some degree; he didn’t though.
As she asked what happen to his pokemon from before he gave a sort of smile, a hand raising to the side of his face as he tapped his cheek. "I honestly didn’t catch that many when I first started. I was more interested in just the adventure." He gave a light shrug. "But then I had to go home. And after a bit I realized I probably wouldn’t get a chance to go back out again. So I let most of them go, back into the wild. There are two or so though, still at home with my family, helping out with the business." He lowered his hand away, folding his arms across his chest, glancing at Spade and Cyndaquil as he mentioned home. "I thought it’d be better to start as fresh as possible this time around, because well, it’s been long enough and things are certainly bound to be different." That was really all too it, now that he thought about it. Of course, if Spade had already started bugging out about his absence for only a few weeks, then it would be quite possible he’d see some of his other pokemon later as well. He hoped his family wasn’t having trouble with them now that he thought about it.
He took the TM back, looking rather surprised at how quickly she identified it before giving a nod. Ah, okay that made se- wait what? She’d just received it? Maybe from the same stranger? No, that didn’t seem likely…
"Really? Your seventh badge? " He thought for a moment. That was… Brock? Blaine? Bryan? How was it possible that at one point in time he’d known who was even the leader what gym anymore? Rather than look like a fool for not being able to remember he just nodded. "That’s amazing! Congratulations then. I hope the eighth is easily earned." He looked back at the TM and smiled, returning it to his bag. "Really then? Well I hope so…"
Sebastian felt bad for mentioning how Spade had come to be in his possession. No, it wasn’t a pleasant story nor was it one he could fault anyone for getting upset over. The frown on his face suggested agreement before giving a sort of sympathetic smile. He’d rather not add any more upset. Hadn’t he been concerned about that and all? "Ah… yes. Some people. But I’d like to think in the end, it was for the better. He’s been good to have."
"Hoenn, huh? Is it nice? I hope to get a chance to go there, at least once." He remarked, blinking and giving a sort of shrug at her question. "A lot of people say that. I don’t blame you really. The Pokemon Tower doesn’t really lend itself to happy, jubilant moods and all. " He tilted his head again, shaking his head. "No, I’m not to be honest. I’m not afraid or anything; I’ve had plenty of encounters. But most are rude. Incredibly rude. It’s actually very disconcerting."

Eventually,she was really going to have to get down to actually doing some training,but for now she seemed oddly at peace with just talking. Maybe Elle was right, and a break was the right choice? She folded her arms over her chest as Sebastian answered the question, her eyes narrowing at how long he'd been out of practice. It was hard to tell why, though-- some of the accusatory attitude was still there, but in reserve now. She looked off to the side, thinking, then raised her gaze up again as he elaborated on the pokemon themselves. Honestly, that was what she was more interested in. Knowing he'd been out of practice for ten years really only told her that he was probably in her twenties, and that, well... saying he was out of practice probably wasn't him being modest, in all honesty.
She looked down as he spoke, but was clearly listening, shifting her weight to one side. She almost wanted to start asking him what pokemon he had caught, how far he'd gotten along, what pokemon he'd chosen, whether he'd been in Kanto for that trip, etc, but... Well, hell, that might actually make her sound interested in her life story. She looked back up, nodding a bit to his finishing statement. "That makes sense, I guess. And at least you're keeping them in your house instead of locked up in a computer system, unused for ten years. I don't know what it's like in a pokeball, but I'm pretty sure even a magikarp would get bored of that after that long," she commented.
She dropped her arms to her sides, pulling a pokeball off her belt and lightly tossing it back and forth, nodding a little to his question with a neutral expression. She smirked a bit, though, at his good wishes, shrugging and tilting her head to the side. "It should be a bit of a challenge, but I feel fairly prepared. Going to get some of my pokemon trained up a little more, but with Jas and them, I'm fairly confident of my ability to take it on. And uh... thanks," she added, realizing she should probably adhere to having at least some manners. She glanced off to the side, but looked back at him, frowning a little as he mentioned traveling to Hoenn 'at least once'.
She tossed the pokeball to her right hand, and started tossing it up one handedly. "You're not planning to take on all of the regions?" she asked. Maybe she was misunderstanding him. She paused, then gave a shrug. "Nice... I guess you could call it that. It's as nice as most of the other regions. It has some cool pokemon, some interesting areas. I haven't really gone back there for a while but I plan to at some point." She gave Sebastian a skeptical gaze, as if considering asking something, but evidently decided to hold off.
She stared when he mentioned ghost pokemon being 'rude'. Stared, and caught the pokeball she'd been tossing, and simply held it there, her hand held out before her. "....Yes," she uttered in a flat town, "'Rude'." She looked off to the side, frowning. "You're lucky if that's the worst word you can apply to them from your experiences." Eating someone alive didn't really count as 'rude' for her, after all. Or capturing a bunch of people, or possessing their pokemon and forcing them to attack, one by one, appearing torn to shreds and undead... But, well, she'd rather not think about that. "I take it they haunt the whole town, then?" she asked, quickly swapping the subject over slightly, "I thought they were mostly in the tower, but unless you're going there frequently, I wouldn't think that keeping them away would be that big of a concern." Then again, she knew absolutely nothing about what the guy might do in his spare time. Or... for work. Or anything really.
She turned her head, looking around, then back to Sebastian, frowning again. "Hey, uh, were you planning on training? Because we can always move to the tall grass or something if you wanted to see if that cyndaquil of yours was capable of battle or something," she commented. She wasn't sure how strong the pokemon in the area were, but if he was planning to battle, observing that might give her a good idea of whether it was worth her time to stay, or if she should move on to a tougher area.

- "Nah, I didn’t think they’d like it much in a pokeball for so long. It’s like being cooped up in a house with no chance to go outside. I can’t see that being enjoyable." Which is probably why he’d set them free. It was an interesting thought; what was it like in a pokeball? If pokemon didn’t mind getting caught in them, then it certainly couldn’t have been too terrible. Boring though, yes he could see that.
Sebastian smiled and nodded, watching Ajicka curiously as she spoke of her team and plans for their final gym challenge. This Jas certainly sounded interesting; he wondered if he’d have a chance to see it. He wasn’t about to pry further on that though; that was rather rude to do to some degree. "Well that sounds great. Confidence is key in a lot of things."
"I might. I’m not too sure what I’ll do to be honest. I’m mostly out to… learn? Ya, I think that’s a good way to put it." He didn’t want to bore her with anything with his goals. Ajicka seemed a tough trainer with her mind set on what she wanted;
When she responded to the rude comment, he watched, eyes narrowing only briefly as he took in her response. He could tell there was something… off, for her in that moment. For a brief moment, things seemed unsettling as though the subject had brought about harsh memories. Of what? Well Sebastian didn’t know, but years of graveyard work had given him a clue when people were thinking of things that incited strong emotions. He held his tongue; the slight change in subject made it clear whatever it was, it shouldn’t be dwelt upon. "True. But no promises that they’ll stay that way. I guess I’ll see once I get some more experience under my belt."
Sebastian eased up a bit, folding his arms behind his back as he shifted his own stance though Spade gave him little foot room to maneuver. "No, you’re right. They tend to stay in the tower… though there are the random occurrences here and there. It is a small town after all. " At the mention of frequently the tower, Sebastian chuckled slightly. "The family business takes us there a lot… so yes. It has become a concern." Was it a good idea to tell people you’d just met your family was in the funeral business? It wasn’t exactly the most… normal of occupations. Sebastian didn’t think so at least; maybe later.
At the mention of training he looked caught off guard, eyes growing wide slightly. Right, what was he doing? He’d stepped over to be friendly and assure she was alright and now was taking up her time with idle chatter. Sebastian reached a hand to the back of his neck, rubbing it as he gave a sort of apologetic look. "Ah sorry. You did mention looking to train, weren’t you?" He looked at his Cyndaquil, raising an eyebrow. It was beginning to shift about again, most likely coming around for whatever few precious moments of awake time it could allot.
"I suppose … it’d be worth a try." If all else failed, he still had Spade. If anything, at least he wouldn’t look like a complete fool. Of course, he didn’t want to go holding her up with his scrubbiness.
"I don’t mean to hold you up though. Hate to put you through… whatever happens and all." He smiled again. "It was a nice chat though." -

Fortunately, this guy seemed to at least have a brain. There was something a little odd about him-- he was incredibly laid back, nonchalant, or oblivious or something-- but Ajicka admittedly relaxed a bit when he seemed to have the same opinion on pokeballs as she did. "Yeah. S'why I don't like having all those extra pokemon in my PC or anything. I don't know if they're even aware of time in there, but it seems like a waste to catch a bunch of pokemon if you don't have plans to use them," she added. Admittedly, there were some pokemon in her PC that she hadn't used much, but she planned to either find a new trainer for them, use them, or set them free if she couldn't find a way to do either.
Nodding absently to his comment, she started absently turning the pokeball in her hand in circles between her fingers, looking thoughtful and then shrugging as she raised her gaze back to him. "Well if you need or want any help or anything, I guess I could assist. Like I said, kind of taking a break, anyway, and I can train at the same time. Training doesn't only mean battling with my pokemon, after all," she offered. The guy didn't seem like a moron, a jerk, or too annoying, so... Maybe it was a bit egotistical to assume she even had anything to offer, but, eh. He could decline if he wanted.
She skimmed right on over the mention of getting more experience and focused instead on the mention of the tower. She paused a moment, seeming to catch on to what he was saying a bit, and then frown, her brow furrowing a moment. She shifted her weight, then looked at him again. "... Isn't the tower like a... graveyard? What the hell does your family do?" she muttered, trying not to sound too harsh. But seriously... did they work with dead bodies or something? Were they the people that dug the graves? Or carried the bodies to the funeral? How creepy....
She shook her head a bit when he apologized, waving a hand dismissively. "If I wanted to go train that bad I would have just left. I'm not in that much of a rush. And I need to check out the pokemon in this area anyway, see if they're worth battling. If you're heading there anyway, we can just go over and kill two spearow with one stone-- no offense, Fearow," she added, apparently picking up on the sharp look her pokemon gave her at the use of the phrase.

Sebastian gave a nod. Good to see they were agreeing on something at least. At Ajicka’s offer, he gave a grateful smile. "Well, I appreciate that. Hopefully I’m not too bad; like I said, I’d still hate to waste your time either way. Though I guess checking the pokemon is a benefit to both." He looked around a bit, starting to head in the direction of some tall grass, Spade close on his heels with a now more awake Cyndaquil still clinging to its back. As the entered and started shuffling about, Sebastian glanced at her and her mentioning of the tower, along with the muttering. He gave a sort of half smile.
"It is." He paced about a bit more, listening for the sound of wild pokemon. "My family is in the funeral business. We do ceremonies and burials for pokemon that have passed. Also help make sure everything in the tower is kept in repair and such. So ya… a lot of time there." He gave a shrug. I guess there really was no getting around that. But oh well; he’d hope the fact that he was pretty much a gravedigger wouldn’t unnerve her too much. It certainly wasn’t a normal occupation… but someone had to do it.
A rustle occurred as a flash of purple suddenly appeared from grass nearby. A Rattata, hm? Well that was pretty straight forward; it wasn’t exactly strong looking either. Hopefully Cyndaquil could end the battle quickly before it flopped back into sleep. He glanced at the pokemon, gesturing it forward with a side nod of his head.
"Alright, let’s see what you’ve got."”Cynda...,” The pokemon responded, giving another little yawn before half-climbing, half-tumbling off of the back of Spade, shuffling it’s way to face off the Rattata. Sebastian pulled out his pokedex, double checking Cyndaquil’s move set. He was fairly certain nothing had chang-
"Wait, what? Smokescreen?" He gave Cyndaquil a confused look. "When did you learn Smokescreen?"”Cyn…” The fire mouse just gave him a sort of odd look, the Rattata chattering violently as it eyed it’s opponent. Sebastian just shook his head. "Nevermind. Just use tackle."
”Cynda.” The pokemon remarked, wiggling a moment before charging forward quickly (something Sebastian was slightly surprised about to be honest), slamming into the Rattata at full force. The wild pokemon didn’t really stand a chance, flipping head over tail from the tackle and flopping down, K.O’ed instantly. Sebastian was too busy staring blankly. Well. That was… sad. The Rattata recovered enough to run off, leaving Cyndaquil wiggling about a bit in what looked like confusion.
"Well… that was rather anti-climactic." He remarked, glancing back at Ajicka to gauge her thoughts. Well, at least Cyndaquil was still awake. A plus if anything.

Giving a sideways nod, Ajicka shrugged, then nodded and motioned for him to lead the way towards the tall grass. "It helps to give me an idea of how far out I need to get to find pokemon around the right strength, at least," she said, shoving her hands into her pockets as she started walking with him. She slowed her pace a bit pulling a pokeball off her belt to look thoughtfully down at it, then, tossing it absently, striding up to catch up with him, tilting her head to the side. "Do you mind if I release some of my pokemon?" she asked. Not that she thoroughly waited for an answer.
As they reached the grass she released Arrow who appeared in the air, hovering, giving a grinning, archaic greeting to Sebastian. Ajicka waved him off, telling him to go fly and stretch his wings, which he gladly did, turning her attention back to Sebastian again, and raising an eyebrow. She was quiet a moment after he described what the family business was, exactly. Then, finally... "Well as long as you're not digging bodies up, I guess that's not that bad, at least," she decided casually, waving a hand dismissively, "Definitely a pretty unusual way to grow up." She eyed him a moment. "I take it death and dead bodies and such don't really bother you much, then, do they?" she commented. Boy, he would have been right at home at that... ball thing.
She looked over as the rattata appeared, glancing back towards Sebastian and his pokemon. At least Cyndaquil seemed to be waking up, though she was surprised he didn't take the chance to teach it that TM. Evidently, though, it had learned another move on its own. She placed a hand on her hip, watching him with a slightly dubious, expectant expression. Had a pokemon never learned a move on him before? Hmm... She crossed her arms over her chest as the battle started-- and then ended, watching the rattata skitter off, scoffing a bit in amusement.
"Better than my first official battle with a rattata," she remarked with a smirk, looking at him while Arrow cawed and swooped and looped around happily in the sky, "I went too far out. All my pokemon were still very low level, and the rattata... I think it was about twice their strength. I only had Jas and Jolteon with me, too, so... it was a very near victory. I guess you could say it was more exciting, but trust me, it's better to start out with easy victories," she commented. She still didn't really forgive herself for letting Jolteon faint back then. It had been almost a year, but she still felt uneasy about. It had been the beginning to a trend that she had adamently put an end to.
She gave a more elaborate shrug after. "Though if you want something a little more challenging, could always go to some higher difficulty areas. I recommend investing in a Quick Claw, by the way," she added, "Especially if you're going to give your Cyndaquil that Fire Blast TM." She paused and seemed to consider something a moment. "Actually... if you want, I could probably give you one of mine. I have enough other power up items for my pokemon, and after my eighth badge, I probably won't need them much, since I can just train my pokemon to be faster than the gym leaders." She shrugged again. "Up to you."

- "No, no real reason to dig them up. " He’d never been requested to anyways, and most likely wouldn’t if asked. That was disrespectful. Sebastian was still trying to figure out how Cyndaquil had learned an ability without actually doing anything. He knew experience and levels helped in that department, but did figure there was a … work requirement somewhere in there. Oh well.
Sebastian sort of stared blankly a moment at the sight of Aerodactyl. Weren’t those supposed to be… extinct? And was it grinning at him? He held up his pokedex to get a reading before Arrow launched into the sky, still looking rather amazed at the sight. Well, apparently there was something to that… fossil technology or whatever he’d heard once or twice about. He regained his composure, looking back at Ajicka and trying to recall the conversation.
"It is." He remarked, still looking over the Pokedex information. "And no, not really. I mean… I suppose not as much as other people. Death is death; still sad when it happens." He shrugged and gave a smile. "But you learn to appreciate life the more from it, I think. At least, I have."
Sebastian listened curiously as Ajicka recounted her first battles with a Rattata, wincing a bit at the sounds of it. Well, it was good she’d won, though that couldn’t have been a pleasant experience. He gave a nod in agreement; he could understand the concern. It was one thing to seek a challenge… another to practically walk into a clear defeat. He’d heard enough sad stories like that where they didn’t end well… he’d rather not be going to the Pokemon Tower for his own pokemon if he could very well avoid it. "That’s good, that you came out of that. But more so that your pokemon were okay." He meant it as he said that.
He looked slightly surprised at her offer. "Really?" Well that was certainly a nice offer. Cyndaquil shuffled up next to him, plopping down to sit and look up at him, Spade still hovering and twitching on the other side of him, having nearly shrank into the ground at the sight of Arrow but recovering once the pokemon took to the skies, head practically spinning circles as he tried to keep track of it above.
"That would be handy… especially for such a powerful move." He looked back at her. "It helps them go first when it comes to attacks right? I’ve heard a thing or two about that… if you’re willing to part with it, I’d happily make use of it. " His journey was starting off fairly well, he had to admit…

Haha.... yeah. No reason to dig them up. Unless, y'know... you're a weirdo or something. Which was honestly more her point, but it didn't hurt to have the reassurance that he had no interest in the reversal process of his parent's work. It did get her thinking, though. Not just about the graveyard back at the ball, or the corpses sliding out of their coffins, but about what that must have been like. She had no fairy tale childhood or anything, but she didn't feel especially scarred by it. She'd come to just accept it and move along with it. But what would it have been like, being raised around death? Not being able to just move on and try and put it behind you? To constantly witness corpses being cried over by relatives, or praised by mourners. The guy had some kind of resilience to grow up with that, and still appear as... unburdened as he appeared.
She absently pulled a pencil out of her bag while she listened to him, looking down at it as she held it between her two index fingers, using her thumbs to roll it so that the graffite and eraser spun against her fingertips. "That's a very... optimistic view," she remarked, still frowning at the pencil, "I don't think a lot of people could really come away with that sort of lifestyle with that perspective. Certainly better than most of the ones I hear." She pulled one hand away to let the pencil drop, but caught it, putting it back into her bag-- why was she so fidgety lately?-- and crossing her arms back over her chest.
She had to admit, she was sort of wanting to battle again. Talking about it, seeing him battle his wild pokemon... it was making her antsy for some good training. Maybe she would let Bagon out, so that he could at least get some exercise... Maybe Arrow could even help him train. She nodded absently to his comment on her own rattata experience, unaware of the miracle that was her smiling at the memory. For a while there, she had pretty much scorned rattata for it. She wasn't even sure when that changed-- it could have very well been five minutes ago, when she saw one so easily defeated.
She nodded when he asked if she was serious about the offer, already reaching back to grab one from her bag. She had enough items, at the moment, and she was pretty sure she could always get another one if she needed. Once she found it, she tossed it over to him, giving another nod to confirm his question. "Yeah, that's right. Makes training a lot easier when your pokemon are low level, and makes gym battles a bit easier when you start challenging the stronger ones. Their pokemon can get pretty tough, so whether you put all your weight into one pokemon with a type advantage, or spread the work across your team, having an item to over come your lower levels is handy," she confirmed, crossing her arms back over her chest.
She glanced over at Spade, watching him a moment, then nodding towards him. "Does he battle?" she asked.

"Really? I suppose…" He shrugged, watching curiously as she produced and fidgeted with a pencil from her pack. "It’s true, it really doesn’t lend itself towards pleasantries of any sort… but that’s how my folk raised me. I say they’ve helped." There really wasn’t much more he could say in response to her remark. It was a very good point; most people expected somber, or grave or quiet or dark.
And there was a time and a place for that. Just not every day. A fact his parents had borne into his head since he was old enough to actually understand what in the world it was they did in the first place. It was a blessing in disguise, to be honest. At least, it’d help him survive up until this point.
He perked up a moment, holding his hands out and catching the claw-like object as she tossed it to him, looking it over a moment in curiosity. It certainly didn’t seem like much, but the advantages where pretty darn impressive the way she put them. "Thank ya very much! I appreciate it" He glanced down at Cyndaquil, offering it to the pokemon who gave him a sort of “what’s that?” look before taking it in its tiny paws, looking it over.

Sebastian looked back to Ajicka, quirking an eyebrow and glancing at Spade, who had only briefly shifted his gaze from up above to look between the trainers, twitching and returning to his suspicious sky gazing.
"Hm… not really no, to be honest. He usually just sort of howled to scatter the ghosts away. Though, he can be rather bitey at times." That’d have to be something that changed though, if he’d have Spade along. At least for a little while. Sebastian paused, looking away from Spade to Ajicka. "What about yours? I’ve heard about a few of them… what’s that one’s story?" He remarked, gesturing upwards towards the Aerodactyl.

In all honesty, Ajicka was slightly skeptical of how much the guy's parents helped. They probably did, but... someone could probably have the same life he did and come out horrifically worse. She was pretty sure a decent amount of his bizarrely adaptive personality was due credit to him, as much as it was his parents, but she wasn't going to say that. She wasn't one to give philosophical, introspective, or, heck, even complimentary speeches unless there was an actual reason to, and considering she knew virtually nothing about this guy, and more importantly, his parents, there was no reason. So she simply gave a little nod recognition, and shifted her gaze to look around again.
And similarly, gave a muted response to his gratitude, though she did smirk a bit as he immediately handed it over to Cyndaquil, and the pokemon took it to examine. "Yeah, no problem. You'll probably get more use out if it than I would anyway," she remarked, placing her hands into her pockets. She was pretty resigned to the fact that she wasn't going to do much battling immediately. The rattata was a good demonstration that he pokemon were just too weak. Fearow, who was about a third the level of Arrow, could probably step on one, and that would be the end of it. There was no point putting the pokemon, wild or her own, through that.
She looked down at Spade as Sebastian answered her question, narrowing her eyes a bit in thought. She wondered if that meant those were the only moves he knew... or if that was just the pokemon's personality. More importantly, whether that meant he would have a hard time adjusting to the much more battle-intensive life of an actively training, battle-ready pokemon. She shifted her weight, her gaze lingering on Spade a moment, and then looked back up at Sebastian as he turned the question on her, gesturing to Arrow. She pivoted around, looking up at the rock-flying pokemon, then shrugging a bit.
"Believe it or not, I found him in the wild," she commented, lifting a hand from her pocket to make a lighter motion, "I lit one of those odd incense, dunno if you've heard of them, and it attracted a ton of flying-type pokemon. Arrow was mixed in there, and I managed to catch him. Caught my Ducklett then, too, and a few other pokemon. Honestly, I'm not sure if someone resurrected him as a fossil, and then released him, or abandoned him... or if he's just one of those few that's been surviving in caves and the like, since I was near one of them. But he's been a main part of my team since then. He's actually pretty strong, despite his disposition." She looked up as she said this, placing her hand back into her pocket, bringing her gaze back down as Arrow noticed he was getting attention. She shook her head a bit, watching the tall grass, but aware of him now doing aerial displays, to show off. Beside her, Fearow was giving him quite the disapproving stink eye.
"Speaking of... do you know what other pokemon you plan on getting?" she asked, nodding to Cyndaquil and Spade, "Besides these two? I mean, do you have a strategy or anything?" If she thought about it, she might realize this was perhaps one of the longest conversations she had civilly upheld for a very, very long time. Deoxys would be proud.... or was, proud.... wherever he was lurking.

MWAHAHAHA On another note I just noticed how similarly long Ajicka and Sebby's hair is o-o
"I certainly hope so." Sebastian smiled, glancing once more at Cyndaquil who was still trying to figure out what the Quick Claw. Sebastian considered for a moment making getting the creature so sort of neck tie to keep the Quick Claw on itself, but that could wait until later.
He then looked at Spade, the Mightyena now watching Ajicka with a sort of mixed look of curiosity and suspicion. He twitched, shifting and scooting over towards Cyndaquil to observe the newly gained item that the pokemon had a acquired, keeping low to the ground the entire time as he watched the other pokemon fiddle with the thing.
Sebastian listened intently as Ajicka told her story, the look of intrigue and interest very obvious on his face. She’d just lit some kind of essence and all these flying-types appeared? That sounded straight out of a movie, but with less focus on birds and being attacked. Still, that sounded incredible. Did it always work like that? He wondered what it could’ve been like, being in the midst of a bunch of flying-types at one time.
"That’s… pretty crazy." That was an understatement really. It sounded far more impressive than he could apply words too. Sebastian glanced back up at Arrow, smiling and giving a slight shake of his head. Yes, there certainly was a lot for him to learn about.
When Ajicka mentioned his plans on acquiring pokemon, he frowned, raising a hand and rubbing at the back of his head. Did he have a plan? Not really now that he considered it. I mean there were the basics and such to consider… but even then it was a matter of what he encountered. "I haven’t quite considered what I intend to catch to be honest…," He paused, tapping his chin a moment. "I’ve seen a few of the new pokemon coming from the other regions and of course there’s Spade here…," He tilted his head slightly.
"I was hoping for another dark-type or two to be honest, but I know I’ll need some balance." He’d intended to take on a few gyms at least, so there was some planning to do there. "Actually… I did have one in particular in mind, which is why I opted to start here in Johto. Though I’ve no clue where I’ll find one. You heard of a pokemon called Houndoom?”
