Lucille looked up from her pondering when Mr. Ohmarrow told her to leave her device with him. Really? Can he fix it? That'd be pretty amazing! And really, really helpful. I can't drain my laptop's battery trying to talk to people. She smiled and nodded her head deeply before signing 'Thank you' by bringing her hand to her chin and bringing it outwards, pointing to Mr. Ohmarrow. She carefully gathered up all of the components and brought them to the workstation that the man had mentioned. As she returned, Fukumi asked the all-important question: what was the training going to be for today? Lucille turned her eyes once more to the eyepatched man, awaiting orders.
Survival Training? Like, looking for berries that are safe to eat and stuff? It was a broad term, for certain. But then again, survival was a broad subject, too, so it made sense to the teenage girl. She nodded in understanding to Mr. Ohmarrow. Okay! I can definitely do this! Probably! She looked as determined as she possibly could before gathering up what she figured she would need, which was really only her backpack with some odds and ends, and her trumpet. Before she put away the horn, she used it to play a call for assembly. Shortly, Lil Gena, Helmy-Chan, Zappers and Samson all came from their different locations right to Lucille, who was beaming with pride. I wasn't sure that was going to work! But it looks like I got me a good way to rally everybody! To keep up with her coolness momentum, she strapped Helmy-chan to her pack, returned Gena and Zappers for the time being, and hopped onto Samson's back...
,,,rather, she attempted[ to jump on his back. Instead, she flopped to the ground when she didn't quite get her leg up and over him, falling with a soft thud. Red in the face and nervously sweating, she clumsily got onto Samson after he lied down for her. Thanks, Samson... she wanted to tell the large hound. She patted his head to show her gratitude, and looked back over to Fukumi before beckoning for her to come along so they could train out further away.

That was a powerful skill to have as a trainer, especially one without a voice. If she ever got supported or found herself in need of a pokemon, not in her immediate company, she could quite easily call them to arms. She could even go so far as to sent messages via the music she chose to play. She probably hadn't thought of anything quite like that herself yet. He'd make a note to pass the idea onto her later. Fukumi wasn't as impressed with the trumpet trick as she was amused with Lucille's failed attempt at getting atop Samson. Her stifled laugher catching a stern and silencing glare from Ohmarow.
Ayami began to clean up, as Ohmarows pokemon recounted another battle with the Ranger, catching him just before he could fully depart. "I'll assume you both know how to start a fire, or at the very least will have in your possession a fire-type Pokemon, so we'll skip things trainer school teaches." He began, crossing camp towards to his workstation to give a passing eye at Lucile's electrolarynx. It was .. busted. But probably not beyond repair. If all be it crud? "So instead we'll focus on things they don't teach. Lucille, how you do find which way north is at night?" He quizzed with a smirk looking back to a now stunned Ayami. "If you aspire to become stronger then you need to learn skills you can apply to a broad array of situations but those skills should also reflect your dreams, and aspirations." Ohmarow tapered off a moment nodding to the tree's along the clearing. "I spent a great many years living in the wilds with pokemon. I learned to survive with nothing but my bare hands. Knowing where to find the north star you can find your direction, tell the time and even figure out a rough estimate of the date. But strength is subjective. What makes me powerful was honed by necessity. You probably wont going through what i did so you'll need to hone skills that help strengthen your dreams or learn to use skilled gained by necessity to reinforce them." Lucille took in Mr. Ohmarrow's lesson with earnest, and mouthed the words he had said to herself, to commit them to her memory. Big Dipper's cup...Little Dipper's handle...North. Got it. It appeared that he was just as skilled as Lucille had figured, and it seemed it all came because he had to, according to his own words. That made her feel somewhat ashamed; she was just running away from home to go see the world. She didn't have to, nor was she forced to do it. Her naivety was showing, once again.
As the wind blew in harshly, Samson shimmied and fidgeted under Lucille. She looked down, and found him to be nervous. She gave him some pats along his neck to calm him, and the reason for his sudden behavior was announced by Mr. Ohmarrow. A storm? She looked up at the sky, and realized that the few happy clouds had become very angry ones as they started their march forward. He really can tell the weather! He's so cool! Finally, a question was posed to Lucille and Fukumi: What are your dreams? She looked stumped, at first. She looked to Fukumi, hoping that she'd have an answer. Finding that not to be the case, Lucille looked back at Mr. Ohmarrow with a frown. She flipped the page in her notebook, and wrote a new one with reluctance. When I'm done with this I have someone I want you to meet." He remarked now standing beside the makeshift table and looking down on the remains of Lucille's voice box. The circuit board wasn't snapped, thankfully. Without it, he doubted he could do anything to fix it. Before settling into his work heOhmarow pulled from his bag a small wooden box. Inside was a long steam cider wood pipe attached to a polished metal bowl. The entire thing was crafted in the shape of a thin Steelix. Packing the bowl with mint, lavender, dandy lions and other natural herbs Ohmarow then settle into his work. Pulling and releasing large white clouds of smoke filling the air with a sweet pungent aroma.
"Well that was ... vague?" Fukumi shrugged pulling from her belt a Pokeball and releasing the purple bug-type Venonat she'd caught the day before. "Whadda say we get to know each other?" She said kneeling down to be more on the pokemon level. "Be careful. Venonate's can release a powerful poison that can paralyze when scares." As for the Arcanine being "old", it looked pretty young to her. Then again, her Registeel was probably older than most human cities. As Ohmarow stood and left she looked on concerned. "Is he ok?" she asked looking to Ayami, whom she assumed was closer to him then she currently was yet. The father-daughter relationship was still all too fresh for either of them to hold any real sense of an emotional bond yet. That would come in time she told herself. Ayami shrugged. "He's a complicated man with an equally complicated history. I'm sure he's just got a lot going on-" The Red-head tapped her temple. "-What with opening a gym, finding you, meeting his family, and dealing with whatever else is going on in that skull of his" Fukumi nodded. she could relate. Just meeting him was almost overwhelming at times. "Do you think it be ok if I followed him?" Ayami shook her head. "I wouldn't. It's best to give him some space. You don't suffer your father's modesty, or temperament" Fukumi wasn't sure what that meant but she didn't want to argue her elders. Especially in matters, she was still learning to navigate herself.

Fukumi seemed to share concern for the man as well, but Ayami's explanation made it clear that the man had a lot more on his plate than fixing knick-knacks and teaching Lucille. Whoa, he's gonna be a gym leader? I really hit the jackpot in strangers to run into, didn't I? Lucille kept quiet as Ayami continued her explanation and steered Fukumi away from trying to follow Ohmarrow, which Lucille shared an agreement with that; at least when it came to her parents, whenever they were having a bad time, it was better to let them have time to decompress.

Lucille had spent about a week and a half with Fukumi and Ohmarrow, and it was definitely a fun learning experience. She learned about finding fresh water, locating berries that were safe to eat, and finding her way around at night. She couldn't thank the Gym Leader-in-the-making enough. But, it was soon made clear that they had to go their separate ways. Lucille planned to go back through Ilex forest and take on the gym she had skipped over. She felt foolish, skipping both that, and the gym in Goldenrod. And yet...she wasn't sure what to do after that.
Take on the other gyms, naturally. That's what you did when you left home, right? But that didn't fill her with joy, not as much as she thought it would. The girl sighed, and rolled over in her sleeping bag. She was alone -well, not truly; Samson was huddled nearby, with Zappers sipping on the large dog's fluffy static electricity. Helmy-chan lied vigilantly near the front of the tent to watch for danger, and Lil Gena was fast asleep in the corner, chewing on an empty water bottle. You know, as long as I have you guys, it doesn't really matter where we end up, she decided. She'd put off on trying to figure out her purpose, for now. Instead, she rolled over once more, and closed her eyes to sleep.
But, there was a low rumble that shook her awake once again, coupled with the loud barking of Samson. [ color=orchid] Huh, wha... Lucille threw a pillow in Samson's direction, to no avail. She was adamant about ignoring the noise, but then, the tremor got larger. Much larger. The whole ground seemed to violently tremble before it literally split open, mere yards away from the tent. Something roared angrily as the tremors knocked the tent completely over. ACK! As Lucille and her Pokemon struggled to get out of the tent, the roars got fainter; whatever it was, it was moving away. When they finally manage to get out, however, it was clear it wasn't done.
Lucille spotted a large blue and red Pokemon, dashing across the plains and slashing the earth with giant scythes for arms. What the heck is that?! Lucille found her Pokedex, and pointed it at the rampaging Pokemon: Garchomp, the Mach Pokémon. When it folds up its body and spreads its wings, it can fly like a jet plane at the speed of sound. Lucille read over the info again; this was a very fast Pokemon! And it was really, really angry about something! Samson started to nudge Lucille away from the beast, trying to keep her safe. But...Lucille had a better idea.

Much to Samson's chagrin, Lucille started running towards the Garchomp. She barely made the jumps needed to make it over the forming gaps and crevasses, but she didn't waver. Even as her chest started to hurt (curse her lack of exercise!), she didn't hold off. All of her Pokemon were returned except for Helmy-chan, who protested loudly, her plumage tied to the girl's belt and slapping against her mistress' thigh.
Oof! No! Mistress! Stop! Arrêtez! This is far too dangerous for you! Lucille, didn't listen to the sound advice. I know, I know! But what if someone else is camping around here? They could get hurt, so we're gonna go stop that Garchomp! Just then, the ground gave way underneath her, and Lucille started to fall. She flailed her arms to try to grab hold of something, anything. But luckily for the young mute, something grabbed hold of her instead.
Samson flung his ward onto solid ground, all while jumping the gap that had formed. She had rolled a few times, but other than a scraped elbow and banged knee, she was no worse for wear. Good job, Samson...man, that was gonna be the end of me...oh well, let's get going. She pulled herself up, and started to make her way. But this time, Samson blocked her path. He barked with authority, staring down the young teen. Samson, move! She signed the order to Samson, but the Arcanine did not budge. Mademoiselle, Samson is right! You are trying to do something far out of your expertise. We should get out of here, and let ze garde forestier take care of this! Lucille pouted. Her fists shook in frustration. She had the angriest look she could manage, though her tears coming from her flustered state didn't do her any favors. I am going to help! I'm not running away, and that's final! She signed all of this furiously and with feisty flourish, and stared down Samson.
And at first, it seemed they hit a stalemate, but then, Samson huffed, and lied down on the ground so Lucille could get on. He couldn't get her to leave, but he wasn't going to let her go run up on some large Pokemon by herself. Lucile smiled, and wiped her eyes before running over and mounting Samson. Samson!! You are ze voice of reason, what are you- The Arcanine barked loudly, and Helmy-chan stopped. ...very well. She is in charge, after all... Lucille nodded in agreement, and ushered Samson onward, and made chase after the raging Garchomp.

Lucille held on tightly as Samson ran, far faster than he often did when the young teen was on his back. She hoped she wasn't hurting him, the way she gripped onto his fluffy mane. Helmy-chan wasn't any more comfy either; every darting step caused her to bump against the side of the Arcanine, much to the once-proud-warrior's chagrin. Mademoiselle, what exactly is your plan? she asked. Lucy didn't seem to hear; she was focused dead ahead, looking slightly left and right as she surveyed the land. We're heading....North. No, Northwest, right now. The botanical garden is that way, if I remember right. She pondered about that for a moment; the Pokemon had been heading that direction, more or less, the entire time that Lucille had been tracking it. Could it be heading for something or someone?
Lucille thought it was worth checking out, and directed Samson towards a shortcut. Instead of following the established trail, The Arcanine was steered into a small glade of trees that darted the landscape, and also lead to a direct line to the gardens. It was a difficult path, but the old Pokemon handled it well enough; He dodged trees and bushes as he jumped, sidestepped, and at one time barreled through the treeline. When they came around the other side, Lucille had to spit out a mouthful of leaves and twigs, but they had made good time. Reckless! Reckless! My lady, I must protest these actions! Lucille was going to rebuke Helmy-chan, but it was then that the Garchomp came into view.
Mon Dieu! There is something...wrong with zat Garchomp, mademoiselle. As it came into sight, Lucille had to agree with Helmy-chan; It looked far more dangerous than the picture in the Pokedex: Its arms ended in large scythes instead of winged claws, and its head was much larger with a nasty set of teeth. That's strange! It's it some sort of evolution or something? They wouldn't have time to think about it, as the Garchomp had caught a glimpse of the trio, and turned its anger towards them. Sacre Beu! Samson, evade, evade! He didn't need to be told twice; when the Mach Pokemon rushed forward with a violent claw, Samson dashed to the side, barely dodging the nasty attack. It came around for another slash, and Samson jumped up and back to evade once more. We need to get it to stop!...Helmy-chan, tell Samson to charge at it!
Helmy-chan was dumbfounded. Mademoiselle, are you ill?! That's a terrible-
JUST TRUST ME! Helmy-chan winced at the mental shout, but followed orders, relaying the message. Samson had to turn his head and look up at Lucille on that one. Not you too! C'mon, let's do this! She furrowed her brow and nudged Samson forward. And despite his better judgement, he did what he was told.
Samson dashed forward as fast as he could, bee-lining for the Garchomp. The Garchomp did the same, and they were soon in a deadly game of chicken. Lucille held on tightly to Samson's mane, but she started to stand up on his back, barely keeping her balance. Lady Lucille...what are you doing? Lucille? And right before the two of them made contact, Lucille jumped, and Samson ducked. Lucille found herself on the back of the Garchomp, clutching onto its neck with all her strength. And the Garchomp didn't appreciate it; It tried to buck her off, before taking off into the air. Oh crap oh crap oh crap! Helmy-chan was screaming, unable to do anything about the situation. Calm down, Helmy-chan! This is all according to plan! The helmet scoffed. Plan?! WHAT PLAN!?! Lucille struggled to turn herself around, but when she did, she grabbed hold of Helmy-chan, and bonked her up against the Garchomp's head!
...and nothing happened. B-but...why isn't it working?! She bonked it again, only aggravating the Garchomp more. Je suis désolé, mademoiselle, but that only works if I can fit over their head! Lucille gulped; maybe this wasn't such a good plan after all.
The Garchomp roared and flipped completely upside down, and Lucille started to fall off of its neck. HECK DARN SHOOT CRUD POOP FRICK! With a last-ditch effort, Lucille grabbed Helmy-chan's plummage, and tried to whip the helmet and catch onto something, anything. And with the helmet's aid, they got lucky, and hooked around one of the protruberances on Garchomp's head. The dragon roared, but in a surprised way, as it started to slow and veer in its flight. Huh? Helmy-chan, what's going on? The dragon's flight started to veer further, and the dragon started to turn right-side up. I'm not sure, but when we covered its, uh, je ne sais quoi, it started to feel dizzy! Lucille wasn't sure why, but she would just take the good luck for what it was. She started to climb up Helmy-chan's plumage, until she could grab hold of the Garchomp's neck again. All right, let's ground this big jerk! She pulled hard on the plumage (getting an ow! out of Helmy-chan), and the Garchomp started making a hasty descent to the ground.
A very, very hasty descent. It soon hit the ground with a crash, digging into the dirt before skidding to a halt, mere meters from the gardens. Lucille and Helmy-chan were thrown from the Garchomp, and were at danger of colliding with concrete steps, metal fences, and thorny rose bushes. But instead, they ended up hitting the soft, fluffy fur of Samson. Oof! Oh..I'm not dead! Samson! Good boy! Best boy! She cuddled the big dog, giving praises that would never be heard.
She had to remember that they might be in danger. She quickly turned to check on the Garchomp, only to find that it was smaller now. It was regular size, and was also out cold, by the looks of things. And sitting nearby it was a strange-looking jewel, that had similar coloring to the Garchomp itself. What's that?

Lucille crouched down to pick up the strange bauble, when an angry male voice shouted at her to stop. "Put that down, brat!" Lucille turned around and stood, and rested her eyes on a thuggish-looking man, a lot like the creeps that she had ran into in Goldenrod City a week or so ago. This man was tall, lanky, and had a face like a map of a desert or something. All in all, a creepy, sketchy-looking man. "You get away from that Garchomp, or yer gonna get it!" Lucille wanted to protest, but she hadn't the voice -ah! Lucille had forgotten about Ohmarrow's parting gift. As the man walked closer, the mute girl placed a headset on herself, and turned it on.
"NOT SO FAST, MISTER!"The voice boomed loudly, followed by the screech of a squelching microphone. "Oh, what the hell, kid?!" Samson covered his ears with his paws and 'aroo'd' loudly. Oh, hamburgers! She fiddled with the dial and the few buttons. "SoRry AbOuT ThaAAaAaT-" Lucille blushed even harder than she already was, before she gave the makeshift device a nice slap. "-but you're not going anywhere near that Pokemon, if you're responsible for its actions." The voice was still robotic, but at least it sounded more like a person. The voice was actually more of an older woman's, detached, yet confident. And in a strange way, Lucille felt more confident as well. "So, ya saw all that a** it kicked, huh? Yet, those mega stones really pack a punch! Good thing I forced that stupid land shark to evolve so quickly so I could use it." Lucille furrowed her brow, and pointed at the man. "That's Pokemon abuse, you know! I'm gonna report you to the authorities for this!" The thug smirked. "Oh yeah? Alright, little girl. Let's dance!"
The thug (whose name was Roger, if his neck tattoo was to be believed) tossed out a Pokeball, and out came a Pokemon that had a large hump on its back. Lucille quickly brought up its info in her Pokedex: "Numel, the Numb Pokemon. Its humped back stores intensely hot magma. In rain, the magma cools, slowing its movement." Lucille didn't have to think long on her counter. "Go, Lil Gena!" The little gator popped out, ready to fight. "Gena, use Water Gun!" Lucille ordered. Lil Gena looked up at her trainer, confused; did she just talk? Her trainer never talked! "Get 'em while they're distracted! Flame Burst!" Roger directed the attack, and Lil Gena was hit head on with a gout of flame. Lucille winced at the hit. Looks like she doesn't understand that the voice is mine yet...Helmy-chan! Relay this order! Water Gun down its hump! Helmy-chan relayed the movement telepathically, and the little gator obliged, firing a spout of water right down into the magma in the hump. Numel slowed, almost to a halt. "Hey, what the...Rrr Numel, Magnitude!" Numel made the ground shake, sending the Totodile to be knocked around a good amount. But, a second water gun put an end to Numel's quake. "How're you bossing that little idiot without talking?! Know what? Don't matter, let's see how ya like this!"
A Cacnea came from Roger's next ball, and it was already ordered to use Needle Arm. This time, Samson entered the fray, taking the hit dead on. Samson...didn't budge. Instead, he glared at the cactus Pokemon and used Fire Fang, as Lucille had relayed. The Grass-type Pokemon didn't like that one bit, and Roger ordered it to use absorb in an attempt to regain some lost health, but a well-placed bite knocked it flat out. "Good boy! As for you, Roger, why don't you beat it and leave us alone?" Lucille's offer was answered with another thrown ball, this time releasing a strange, bird-like Pokemon. The Pokedex called it a Sigilyph. "Right. Let's do it, Zappers!" Samson took a spot next to his trainer while the little tick hit the battlefield. "Pfft! What's that little pipsqueak gonna do?" Lucille pouted, and ordered Zappers to use Thunder Wave. The little tick paralyzed the Sigilyph, and proceeded to lunge at it with nary an opposition. "That all you got, butthead?"
Roger was pissed at this point, and threw out Ariados. "Helmy-chan. You're up!" Lucy tossed the Helmition toward the spider-like Pokemon, and Helmy-chan used Headbutt on it. "Holy s**t that's a Pokemon?!" The Ariados tired to use its stinger to subdue Helmy-chan, but her iron body withstood the blow, easily. Au revoir, idiot! she said as she finished off the Ariados.
It looked as if Roger was out of Pokemon. "Alright, you lose! Now get outta here, ya big bully!" The thug smirked as he returned his Ariados. "What, ya think cuz you beat up my Pokemon that I'm gonna run away?" The man pulled out a knife, and flicked it open. But Lucille smiled. "You know, if you'd said that a couple weeks ago-" Roger rushed Lucille, but so did she, rush him. "I'd be totally surprised!" She quickly recited the steps that Ohmarrow had taught her about this sort of situation: Go under the swing, grab the arm, twist, and push! Lucille had Roger in an arm hold, her foot pressed up against his back as she twisted his arm as hard as her little body allowed. "OW HEY THAT FRIGGIN' HURTS!" Samson growled and got exceptionally close to Rogers face. "If you think that hurts, imagine what he could do to you! Now, drop the knife!" The thug did so, and Lucille let go. Roger stumbled forward, but quickly scrambled when the Arcanine roared his face. "Wh-wh-o-o-o-oa Okay okay! I'm gone, I'm outta here! Friggin' crazy kid!" And with that, Roger the Thug bolted.
Lucille sighed, and sat down on the ground. "Now that was awesome!" she said. Helmy-chan hopped over, enthusiastically. Well done! Bien joué! My little mademoiselle showed that highwayman what for! Lucille let out a mechanical laugh (the best she could manage), and patted the Helmition. "Thanks, Helmy-chan...but now we have to figure out what to do with the Garchomp..."
