Once he received the trainer's full name and information, Professor Oak entered the information. After a bit of clicking and adjusting, he turned around, smiling and handing her a Trainer Card. "Here you are!" he announced, "You're all registered. Now then..." He moved over, standing by the incubator. "We have three pokemon here: Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Fire, water, and grass, respectively," he began, gesturing to each pokeball as he listed them, "Do you know which you'd prefer? You're welcome to let them out of their pokeballs to take a look, if you like." He gave a warm smile, placing his hands in his pockets to allow her to make her decision. This was, after all, a very big choice-- he didn't want to rush her, and she was welcome to take her time, but if she knew what she wanted, it was just a matter of getting the pokeball and a few other preparatory items to set her on the beginning of a new journey.

Ana was surprised with how easy it was to get her trainer card. She smiled wildly as she happily took her card from Professor Oak. She looked over it for a moment before showing it to Deception. Deception didn't seem too impressed with card, it was more interested in the Pokeballs the professor spoke of. Ana put her card away as she turned her attention back to Professor Oak. Ana listen to the Professor very carefully as she thought about witch pokemon she really wanted quietly. Ana looked to Deception who seemed excited to meet the newest member of their team. She smiled as she looked over the three balls. She tried to think witch of these pokemon she wanted to become her new friend. She looked over each ball taking in consideration the benefits of having each on her team. After a few moments she made up her mind as she reached for the pokeball that help Charmander. "I believe this is the one I would like to take." She said to Professor Oak. "Come on out Charmander!" She said as she could tell that Deception was eager to meet it's new friend. She looked to Deception who seemed pleased with her choice. "I think you'll get along well." She said as she smiled hoping that the two would become friends over time.

No no, you did nothing wrong! I'm so sorry, Gaia never notified me of your post, I even looked.... I could have sworn I'd checked in to the thread every now and then just in case but I guess not. After much consideration, it seemed Ana had made her choice, picking up one of the pokeballs and sending out a Charmander to illustrate her pick. "Charmander then? A good choice." Oak smiled. "Then again, there really isn't a bad one." He chuckled, turning to pick up a few items and bring them back to Ana. "Along with a starter pokemon, here are a few things to help you on your journey. There's a few potions and pokeballs, as well as an invention of my own, the Pokedex. It records information on the pokemon that you catch. It would be a great help to myself and other professors around the world if you used it as often as you could, but of course, that shouldn't be your top priority." He nodded, handing her the items over.
With the exchange made, Oak stepped back and clasped his hands together with a smile. "Now then, I believe you are all set to start your journey Ana. This is as much as I can help you for now, but should you have any questions feel free to ask them now, or stop by in the future." Oak insisted. "Otherwise... Well, it's been a pleasure to meet you Miss Ana. I'm sure you will take good care of that Charmander." He smiled.

Ana smiled as she greeted her new Pokemon. She looked to Professor Oak as he gathered supplies for her. She nodded hearing what he say, as she put her new supplies away while doing so. Ana was surprised with how smoothly everything had went. She finished packing her supplies away before looking back to Deception and Charmander. She looked back to Professor Oak as she smiled at him warmly. "Thank you Professor Oak. I believe that I should be ok. Besides I have the best team to start my journey with. Thank you for your help and your kindness. I promise to keep in touch and work on the Pokedex as I can." Ana said as she looked back to Deception and Charamander. "Lets get going you two!" She said as she turned slowly heading out of Professor Oaks lab.
Deception followed Ana keeping a eye on Charamander who seemed to have no worries in the world as it kept in step with Ana. Deception came to a stop as he waited with Ana to see what she was up to. Knelling down Ana stared at her new Charamander. She smiled at her new friend as she gently picked the Charamander up. The Charamander didn't seem to mind being picked up. In fact he seemed to like it. The flame on his tale seemed to glow a little brighter as Ana held him. Ana stared at the flame as she looked back to the Charamander. "I think I'll call you Blaze." She said as she laughed at the sudden out burst from the Charamander. The Charamander wiggled free from her hands leaping forward managing to hug her. Ana did her best to try and stay away from Blaze's flame as it's tale swayed from side to side now. "I'm glad you like your name but please mind your tale." She said worried as she missed being burned by only inches. Ana looked to Deception for help only to find him amused with the situation. Ana finally managed to free herself from Blaze's grip as she gently put him on the ground. Blaze didn't seemed fazed in the least as he looked eager for whatever was next.

Ooohh, this was it! Alex's liver quivered with excitement, his earlobes stood on end. Yes, this was the moment where some old dude would give him free stuff! Free alive stuff! Pokemon, to be exact. Alex's experience with pokemon was limited, to say the least, but as he stood in front of the lab door he found he was ready. Patting his pocket to make sure his handwritten note was still there, he walked inside.
"Hmm, interesting..." he mumbled to himself, feeling free to walk around the lab and poke at the various instruments lying about. The distraction ended when he found a smart man wearing a lab coat. "Yes, hello! I would like to get two of the pokemons please." He presented his handwritten note with a flourish. Scrawled in painfully meticulous cursive, the impeccable writing spelled out one sentance- "Alex can have two pokemon". Genius. He had penned it himself in a stroke of brilliance earlier.
"Umm...you might want to...talk to the professor about that." The lab aide Alex had accosted stopped pointed towards Professor Oak. Alex bowed respectfully, and then proceeded to hold up the note for Oak, now. "Official business of officialness! A Charmander and...uh..." Alex glanced down at something scribbled on the palm of his hand, "Bullasore."
[ I was hoping to claim my lvl 5 Charmander from the horoscope way back when as well as a starter. Is there any chance the professor could be so distracted that Alex's note could pass and get him the Charmander? ]

Oak was quite busy after Ana had left with her Charmander. He had to replace the Charmander she had taken, file some paperwork, and organize his research. Information needed to be sent to his aides to update the pokedex worldwide, the lab was very busy, and now Oak was being distracted by another new trainer, though this one... Wasn't so bright it seemed.
Oak glanced up from his papers with a small slightly confused smile at the boy's odd.... Er, request. "My dear boy... Erm... Are you perhaps asking for a Bulbasaur...?" Oak asked, politely correcting him, taking his note and looking it over. The cursive was so fancy and swirly that it was barely legible, but from what Oak could make out it declared that this boy could have two pokemon, though the author of the note remained to be identified, which severely hurt the authority of the note's permission. Aside from that fact, Oak was the high authority on pokemon and distributing them in his lab, there really wasn't someone who could have written this that had any higher authority on him. "May I ask who wrote this note...?" He asked with a reassuring smile. "I don't usually hand out more than one starter per trainer, so I have to ask I'm afraid." He explained.
Alex flushed a slight pink, realizing he'd been wrong. "Th-that's what I said, a Bulbasaur!" He bit his tongue. "Sorry for yelling." He wasn't going to get his free pokemon things if he yelled at this old dude. Professor Oak was super respected (and apparently super old) so he had to be polite. What was polite again? Alex was having trouble remembering without Julius around.
Alex practically glowed while Oak read over his note. "Oh! I wrote it!" he answered, grinning without a care in the world. "So where are they?" he asked, looking around. "Oh, and my name is Alex. I know who you are. Professor Oak! ...you...are Professor Oak, right?" He squinted. He hadn't ever actually seen a picture. "I'm super excited, Charmander and Bulbasaur sound so great!" He didn't even realize there was a third choice...if he did, he would have written a note for all three.

Oak chuckled a bit at the boy's embarrassment and denial from saying the Bulbasaur's name wrong. "It's quite alright, new trainers make these mistakes all the time, and while they might be embarrassing or frustrating, they will humble you." Oak nodded approvingly with a smile. Humility was something this young boy needed quite a bit of, judging by what Oak had seen so far.
To sate his curiosity, and also perhaps to figure out if he was pegging Alex correctly, he asked whom had written the note, to which Alex proudly replied that he had. Oh dear... Oak's smile turned into a bit of a cringe of pity, but Alex payed no mind, asking where his pokemon were as if this was all perfectly normal. "A-ah.... Yes well, they're just--" He started to explain, however the boy introduced himself as Alex, and then seemed to question if he was actually professor oak. "I am indeed." He gave a slight nod, chuckling as Alex babbled excitedly about the pokemon he wanted. "Yes, they are quite remarkable pokemon, but then again every pokemon is remarkable in their own way. Stay right here and I'll come back with your starters." Oak nodded.
He didn't normally give out two starters, but somehow he felt that this boy needed it. With the responsibility of two pokemon, it might be a handful at first but it might also teach him some responsibility. Yes, this would be good for the boy, at least Oak tried to convince himself of that as he gathered the two pokeballs onto his tray as well as the complimentary potions, pokeballs, and pokedex before heading back out to Alex. "Here you are, I hope these pokemon and items will be to your satisfaction. is there anything else you need?" Oak asked, handing him the tray of items.

Alex scratched the palm of his hand to keep from saying anything rude. Who needed to be humble? He didnt' want that, he wanted to be right. The scratch was also a bit of a nervous tick, one that he kept up until Oak came back with the tray. "...are you joking? This- Is this a-" He looked around, at the ceiling and counters as if there were cameras hidden there. "That's not a pokemon." He picked up one of the pokeballs from the tray.
"This is just a- Woah!" He'd tapped the button and the ball expanded in his hand. Startled, he dropped the ball to the ground where it sprang open. "Buuuuuul.""OHMYGODITSSOCOOL!" Alex reached down to pick up the pokemon and buckled under the weight until he finally managed to raise it into the air. "Hhh...ha....Waah, it's...a...Bulbasaur!" The Bulbasaur hung in his arms like a limp head of lettuce. "Bullll."
"I'm gonna name him Cabbage Patch. Like the candy!" He dropped the Bulbasaur on the ground and took the rest of the stuff. He took another pokeball. "Charmander!" The pokeball popped open...empty. "Wha...?" He littered the floor with open empty pokeballs until finally he found the one with Charmander in it. "Charrrr!" It immediately fired off a bundle of flames, charring Professor Oak's face, before running off out the door.
"Oh! Pop Roxx, wait!" Alex ran off out the door. A moment later he ran back in, hefting the Bulbasaur (who was content to lay like a blob on the floor) into his arms and then thumping heavily outside.

A small but somewhat mature face peeked in and a possibly somewhat familiar one at that since she had attended several of his lectures. It didn't seem to busy.. maybe she arrived at the right time she thought. She slid the door open slowly and creepily seeming to stare into the soul of anyone who might have seen her come in."I suppose I'm a few years late.. but I'm here Professor Oak. It would seem just jumping into this journey as a trainer was.. somewhat more complicated than anticip..." she looked at his jacket.. that lining.. the subtle sheen on the narrow seems.. the way it seemed to hold his pen. This was a top of the line lab coat. Yes... Professor oak was quite the beast wasn't he she thought. Her nose flared a bit as she had awkward nerd fantasies of being lectured on the newest discoveries in pokeball comfort statistics... for an entire week
... but she didn't have time for that now ".. ahem, anticipated... I'm told this is the traditional start for trainers? And that I should start this way for a humbling yet very insightful experience to help me take the next big step, I'd also be honored to volunteer for any extra work along my path you may need some assistance with."

Its former trainer is someone who professor oak would probably have met from Silph Co and it wont be doing much until I do some posting and get approval for it or maybe after some gym badges.)
Professor Oak looked up as one of his aide's hurriedly informed him that someone was here to see him. He thanked the aide, stepping out to see a young, somewhat familiar woman standing there. He was fairly sure he'd seen the young lady at some of his lectures, and gave a polite smile and a nod, stepping forward. "Hello," he greeted. He tipped his head to the side curiously as she seemed to trail off part way through her sentence, but smiled kindly as she continued. "Yes, I'd be happy to provide you with the things necessary to begin your journey," he said, setting aside a clipboard and stepping over to gesture towards the incubator holding three pokeballs. "Firstly, you're welcome to choose a starter to accompany you on your trainer; as I'm sure you may know, we have Charmander, the fire pokemon, Squirtle, the water pokemon, and Bulbasaur, the grass type. As for volunteer work, simply exploring and catching pokemon will be of great assistance. I'll provide you with a pokedex, which records information on all the pokemon you catch, and assistants myself and the other professors greatly in our research."

She walked forward.. way forward approaching him rather boldly but said nothing. She could smell the science on him. This was not the must of a mere mortal.. this was the must of a scientific mortal. Any closer and it may have seemed like she was about to kiss him or whisper to him or something. She wanted to chat with this man about poke'science until the world ended suddenly her lips parted after an awkward stare and the words flew out "I want you.......................... to give me the venusaur." A shame he and she were probably both in a hurry. Despite her affections and mannerisms her stare was still actually fairly blank... If nothing else it would be fairly obvious she was a fan.. a BIG fan
Professor Oak blinked, raising his eyebrows high as she moved forward. Such an empty stare... but such boldness! He didn't back up, but he wasn't quite sure what to make. When she spoke, though, a chuckle escaped him, and he finally stepped back. "I'm afraid I can't give you a venusaur, but I can give you it's unevolved form, the bulbasaur," he remarked, stepping away to pick up the pokemon's pokeball. "I think I recognize you," he added, moving to get a tray, and gather a few more items on it, "Have you attended some of my lectures before?" He wasn't quite sure what to make of the girl... but he was fairly sure he'd seen her a few times, and her behavior seemed to... somewhat confirm as much.

She became a little excited beginning to take her glasses off. "I've been attending your lectures for years." After removing her glasses and pulling back her hair since it was covered with a bandana back then for her work she would reveal that she was the little girl that used to lurk around when he came to see Dr Fuji of lavender town. She always seemed to be watching him... she would seem to appear everywhere as though she were stalking him when he was in town. She would also appear in some of his classes.. sometimes as a registered student.. sometimes not. Nothing too devious ever happened however.. aside perhaps from some delicious mochi buns mysteriously appearing at his office when he did work in saffron. Delicious indeed but the calories were simply scandalous for someone of his age at the time. She never managed to find out if he ate them or not. "Does this ring a bell?" She had matured a bit after working for Silph Co but she had always been strange like this since they first had their first brief encounter roughly 13 years ago when he noted to someone that she had a knack for communicating with pokemon. "Bulbasaur.. this will be effective. I choose bulbasaur!"
Ah... ha. Yes. Oak sweat dropped a bit with a nervous smile, the memories quickly beginning to filter back. He had recognized her... but he hadn't remembered her quite as... adequately as he did when she began pulling off her glasses and drawing her hair back. Yes, the memory of the ever present girl were becoming much more vivid; the ghosting form in his peripheral vision, the frequency of her appearance in his lectures, and classes. And those mochi buns... He'd had to give most of them ot his aides, or his students. She was a very... enthusiastic young woman... but even the good natured professor wasn't immune to the... eeriness of her constant attention. He managed a chuckle, though, holding the tray with the pokeball and items out. "I do remember you, yes...." he replied, though the twitchy nervousness the memories brought back didn't quite escape his voice. "I believe it's been a little while since I last saw you, though..." She had grown up a bit... but it seemed her... attentiveness was still quite present. He smiled, still a bit strained, nodding a few too many times as she took her pokeball. The Professor wasn't necessarily unnerved by the young woman's reappearance... but he couldn't help half expecting to see that shadow return around his office now....
