He looked over and gritted his teeth, realising he had taken things too far. He really shouldn't have dragged her along after all, this was the reason he was torn about her joining his company, she wasn't ruthless like him, it wasn't a bad thing in fact the opposites she was compassionate and caring but he had forced her into a situation where she'd have to stave herself of those feelings. "I'm sorry." He drove for a bit in silence, listening to the music on the radio then pulled up on an overlook, it was a hill that overlooked the city that people came for romantic evening and scenic picnics. He had once taken her here a long time ago and while it was refresh in his memory he wasn't sure if she would have remembered. They didn't have that many memories of shared activities unless you count all the bring your daughter to work days he invented for himself. He got out and fetched a pair of binoculars out of the boot, they were a part of his pointless survival kit, it was pointless because he would never be put into a situation where he needed to survive. He moved to the bonnet and then sat down. "We don't have time to visit the zoo, so this will have to do..." He smiled, clearly trying to help her forget about what that had just done.

She turned away , not knowing what to say to her father. How to explain to him, that she'd not been afraid? That she'd been thrilled. Her heart had raced, a part of her she had never explored. What if she was not really the person she had always thought she was? She was confused and thankful when he agreed to the break. She focused on the radio until they reached the hill. He came back, handing her a pair of binoculars. Taking them she gently checked out the scene for a moment. Looking back at him, she laughed light. She had so may memories of her father essentially deserting her, leaving her and her mother to spend several days and meals together, without him. But she held no hatred for him. "The zoo. Its been years. Mom took me for my thirteenth birthday." That was four years ago. She handed him the binoculars so that he could take a look at well. The view was certainly beautiful she would give him that.

"Dad...." She paused, a little confused for a moment on what to do. Should she try to talk to him? In truth with Kelsi out of the picture for a bit, she had no one to confide in. Her mother she trusted, but she could not tell her mother much, without worrying the woman. She didn't want her mother to worry. "That kinds of stuff.....does it bother you at all?" She asked softly. "Do you feel bad....or do you feel empty? Like...absent of any empathy." She said it softly, and moved to change how she was sitting, to get a better view of the area they were overlooking. "Forget I said anything. Its a beautiful view, dad."

"I have the picture of you with the space goats in my wallet, it was a shame I missed that." He did regret it but didn't linger on it too much, there was many things he had missed and stopping to think about them all would ruin his day. It was surprising how many animals had just been given the word space before it and then exported across the galaxy as a new creature, he would have loved to have been at that board meeting. He took the binoculars back from her and placed them on the dashboard, he sense a serious talk coming on and didn't want to be distracted by the lunch time show or some other even he might glimpse. "No, we should talk about it, even if its just a little. It's not good to keep everything inside. You start going mad, hanging about on hospital roves and wondering if you could land on the head surgeons car." He grinned to lighten the mood, he sometimes had a very dark sense of humour. "Yes, it bothers me. I don't like bullying people like that." He sighed. "But, I don't feel bad for what we did, in my mind it was a justifiable act. A necessary evil." He did wonder if he had indulged in the underground a little too much and if his moral had been compromised because of it but that was a debate for another time. "How did you feel? You get that rush of power? Or do you have the overwhelming urge to be sick? Or something entirely different." Everyone treated their first home invasion differently, he had been calm all the way through and then afterwards drank until he couldn't remember anything. He hoped she wouldn't travel down that path.

"I felt bad for the father, but for the boy nothing. It was...a lack of anything. But when we went to visit the girls it was different." Unexpected, that was certain. "It was like when you get onto a rollercoaster and that small bit of...a rush that you get at first. But it was not an urge to be sick and it was not necessarily power...I cannot explain it. " Of course she could not. It was a first for her, and when someone who had never experienced such a thing before was suddenly thrust towards it, they have no idea how to explain it because the vocabulary does not exist for them. She looked away for a moment, a bit uncomfortable with the subject. And this was certainly something she didn't want mom to know. Her mother was a happy person and she didn't want to accidentally mess that up. As for her traveling the same path as him? Well, she didn't drink because she didn't like the taste of it, so no problem there. "And why would someone go after a head surgeon? We need them. Better to go after a lackey. I like doctors..." They did good things, and helped people.

"Hmm? Lackeys don't have parking spaces." He answered the question first before tackling her feelings it was by far the easier of the two. "Besides if your going to die anyway why not aim for something expensive?" He added. "Lets take it case by case then. The boy, his father was pitiful he was in a bad place anyway and then his son had had made things worse by picking on you. You feeling nothing towards him isn't that unexpected since he was one of your oppressors. Then with the two girls, we were in a position of power, a role reversal presumably since I suspect those two do everything together." As far as he was concerned her reactions were normal, but not something he could describe with words. "The biggest question is: did it scare you? And if it does, you have to acknowledge there are parts of you that are like that. Its not a bad thing unless you start going crazy, then you should tell me about it and we'll consider a career in organised crime." He was joking, he wouldn't ever let her join the mob there were just too many risks.

Scare her? no. She wanted to do it again, to do more. But its not something she could allow herself to do. She was not a criminal. But she cared not for the dangers the world itself would give to her, only what she would become if she fell into its grips. "No father, fear is not the word I would choose to describe how I felt. I don't think I felt any fear from the moment we arrived at the boy's house. It was complete emptiness, and a ...I cannot describe what it was I felt when we saw the girl's. But Im not someone who wishes bad things upon people, so why in the world did I consider picking up one of those tools and using it on the girls, just to see what would happen if I did?" She hook her head. "We send mom a picture, let her know that we are up on the hill. She will smile." She said softly, thinking only of her mother for a single instant. Her mother was a good person, with a dark childhood, who was really quite a bright and pleasant person. She could raise hell if she needed to, but had never done so in front of Zarah, trying desperately to keep her out of the world she'd been exposed to herself as a child. It was going to be a struggle now that Zarah was getting older and doing more things on her own, without their protection. Like Kelsi's incident for example. What if Zarah had been there that day? What if it was Zarah in that hospital , with Kelsi or instead of her? It was not something her mother would want to think about. "Although you might tell those men to wash up. They were rather dirty." Her nose scrunched up a bit for a moment, at the thought of it. A rather cute habit she'd developed as a child that she rarely showed, but clearly had still.

"Yeah, your grandfather was like that." He sighed, it was his father in law that had introduced him to the world of home invasions and brutal forms of getting his way. But Steven knew where to draw the line and after seeing that side of the man he told him that he didn't want his help and should stay away from his family. It hadn't gone well but that was ancient history now. "I see everything as business, I don't really feel anything about it. I just tell myself it has to be done and I do it. You clearly don't see it that way... Maybe I'm not the best person to have this discussion with after all." He shrugged. Despite his many phones and the stylish display in his car he didn't actually have any camera's apparently whoever designed cars through they might be a bad idea or something. "You take a picture of us then." He moved closer so they could both be in the shot. "Their not my men, I don't care what their hygiene is like. And I wouldn't dare ask Barbra or Debs to scrub up they'd beat me senseless." He was referring to his secretaries, they had to take turns to cover his irregular hours, strange demands and endless greed. Between the three of them they managed to run a successful and legitimate business in what could be described as the scummiest place in the galaxy. "You want Frankie to wash his boys, I'll send him a gift basket with some scented soaps." He grinned.

She smiled. "If you let me write the card, they will see the feminine handwriting. People take things better when they think a girl sent it." Specifically a pretty girl. But yes , there had always been the worry that she could have inherited some of her maternal family's habits. Her parents had done a great job thus far, and she'd shown no sign of inheriting anything...until now. She took the picture and turned the camera around to show him. It was the most recent picture they had of each other. So that was nice. "Well I leave soon anyway. I graduate early and then I get to leave. " She said it with a little bit of sadness. She didn't really want to leave her father, but what choice did she have? She had to have a career and she wanted to expand her education. This really was a scummy place and she'd have to work twice as hard not to get sucked into it now.

"Ha, please, if you can make those guys wash then you more than qualified to rule the criminal underbelly. Getting people to bathe is practically all the work." He smiled. Thinking about it Frankie could probably stand to step into a shower every once in a while, no wonder he's always complaining that his wife is at odds with him. He nodded at the picture, he kind of wished he could interact with his wife than through a picture but time was short and he had already said he would go to Qerus with Zarah, besides if he stayed on the moon he'd only start doing his work again. "Whoa, slow down there, I'm just getting used to the idea stop trying to give me a heart attack." He grinned. "Anyway, speaking of graduation, didn't I promise to take you to look at universities? Put them binoculars on the back seat so they don't fall over." he turned the key and set off towards the spaceport, it was a bit of a drive but it had been worth it to spend a little time with his daughter. "Hey, don't worry about having a little bit of your grandfather in you, being a lawyer isn't just clean cut cases, not much is black and white sometime you need that rush to keep chasing justice." He considered that good advice, a long winded way of saying she needed to make the best out of the situation or something.

They began driving towards the spaceport. Truth be told, she was proud of her dad for not forgetting or finding a way around it. "Grandfather?" She frowned. She'd never been told of her mother's family. But she was smart enough to put two and two together. "Was mom a criminal before you met her?" She asked bluntly. But she did like how her father had phrased things. As a lawyer she could use this newfound spark of hers to keep chasing justice. It was a rush she could utilize, but in the direction she chose. She could show that being better was a possibility even for those who felt the same almost sickening thrill that she could feel.

He cast her a glance and smiled to himself, "Ha." He didn't answer right away only because he remembered the day they met, he was in a bank finishing off the purchase of some chemical processing plan, bored out of his mind when she came strolling in. She smiled, pulled on a balaclava and produced a shotgun from her bag then started barking orders at them. It was love at first sight but the odds were stacked against them from the start. "Your mother is an angel... I am shocked that you'd even insinuate something like that, she managed to rise above that live and become someone amazing." He was clearly joking to some degree but everything positive he said was true, he loved her despite her past. "Lets just say that before we met she was a whole different person." He didn't elaborate because it in her best interest, having parents that were connected to the criminal underworld on Stratos as much as his wife was would make it difficult for her to pursue a life as a criminal lawyer. He hoped she wouldn't press too much, as soon as she started asking him questions there was only so much he could take before he caved. "Tell you what, as soon as you pass the bar I'll tell you how me and your mother met, in detail. Well not in detail, I'm sure there are part you don't want to know..." He grinned.

The smile on her face was hard to ignore. It was one that was true. But then again, Zarah was never really fake. "I hope that one day when I meet the right person, I have the kind of love you guys have..." Just with me honoring that love by not spending my life working and neglecting my husband and children. But she didn't need to say that. She was not angry about it, anyway. It was her mom who was a little upset with her father for it at the moment, but she knew her mother. Eventually she would go back to him, because she loved him, but boy was she stubborn. "Moms so sweet, I cant imagine her any other way. But...deal. When I pass my bar you can tell me. And I will hold you to that." She warned with a smile.

He forced a grin and pulled his collar, realising that he might have signed up for something a little more then he bargained for. But it was only fair that she knew how they met, besides after she was in with those sort of people she'd be able to find a way to use the information better. "Alright, you pass the bar and I'll tell you the story. If you don't manage it through laziness, I'll tell you the super abridged version that doesn't have any of the cooler parts." He pulled into the spaceport and then drove around for a bit looking for somewhere to park, every time it looked like he found somewhere another car would spring out of nowhere and fill it. He finally managed to find somewhere after switching to manual and almost ramming someone out of the way. "Ha. Take that." He stepped out and retrieved the suitcases from the boot, he had everything he needed in a briefcase, it was mainly emergency numbers and samples of his work just in case he needed them. "Come on then, so were going to Qerus, anywhere else you want to look at?" There were other universities.

She narrowed her eyes. She was certainly not lazy, but she was also not stupid. So it was sometimes hard to get a good balance of difficult for her. "Father, Im graduating school early, remember? Im good with academics. Mom always insisted on it." And it had paid off. When they pulled into the parking spot, she unbuckled and got out. She was so happy that they'd finally made it to the station and that they were actually going. He was going to get so many points with her mom for this. "Not really. Its got the best school, and the lowest passing rate. Its hard. Perfect. I want to be part of that small percent. I don't want to go somewhere where just anyone can pass." She smiled at her father, and looked at all the signs around them. She was just so happy to be there. They were going to follow through with the plan. He wasn't skipping out on her. She was delighted by it.

"That's the best way to get a good job." He agreed with her absentmindedly. He was starting to have withdrawal symptoms form not working, he was itching to grab his phone and take a look to see if any of his investments had gone up or down. But he fought it back, this was going to be his day off, okay they had done some questionable things so far but no doubt things would only get better from here. He went ahead and bought their tickets, their was a band playing for new arrivals and the departure lounge overlooked the whole event. "Here's your ticket, lets get to the lounge and we can watch the band play. Our ship is the Titanic II, apparently its the largest passenger ship ever to sail through space. Almost indestructible, state of the art and stuff. Pretty sure every ship in this spaceport is named after another famous ship." He couldn't see any reason why they would choose Titanic for the name of a ship again but not everyone knew Earthen history as much as they perhaps should. "Don't worry about it, I'm sure nothing could go wrong." He grinned, realising that now something was bound to go wrong just to mess with them.
