Requiem of Whyspers

Fashionable Shapeshifter

Odd struggled against the visions that tormented his mind for a few seconds before the sentient tombstones began their second assault on the Snagems. He was lucky he had released A'Capella before it all began and realized it when the Liepard pulled him out of the path of an airborne headstone. "Lie lieliepard!" The Feline exclaimed before grabbing Odd's coat in her mouth and dragging him out of the tower.

Once outside, the Channeler and his Pokemon stopped for a few seconds, where Odd was able to compose himself out of sight of those angry spirits. "Ok...They want a lantern back. Looks like we have a job." Odd told A'Capella with a drawn out sigh. That was bad. He'd rather not relive those memories again for as long as he lived, moreso now than ever.

Trish had been slowly finding her way back to the fairgrounds, Dee using his radio waves to communicate with an unknown Electric-type(he'd determined it to not be one of the Mareep spotted at the Daycare center earlier in the day but not been able to ascertain what Pokemon it actually was). Along the way, she spotted a massive figure of flame in the sky and attempted to attack it by having Idina unleash a Psyshock upon it. The little Fennekin's orb of psychic energy fired like a bullet but what it would do was as far up in the air as the attack was aimed.

Dan watched the water attacks hit their mark and seemingly extinguish the flames and then they reappeared in the sky. He instinctively looked up, failing to notice the headless man's disappearance as there was now a giant Chandelure made of fire hovering above him. Before he could give Rain the command, multiple eyes appeared in the sky and grasped his attention. The trainer was submitted to images of a terrifying memory he longed to forget. It was that time when he was a child and fell through weakened floor of the Burned Tower. Spinarak had swarmed him in seconds as he landed in their lair and tried to wrap him up in String Shot. As he was forced to relive that terrifying experience, Dan had froze where he stood and remained motionless. Rain didn’t know what to do to help his trainer besides try blasting the fire in the sky that his gaze was fixated on with another Hydro Pump.
Darts struggles to make his way over to Dan, lowering his gaze to avoid the Hex he could feel coming, allowing him to avert his gaze just in time to avoid the attack. He wraps his hands over the other member's eyes, gilded digits trying to shield his vulnerable ocular nerves. The gambler is just barely holding it together, his Empoleon nervously circling him, ready to shield him from a threat from any side.

As Amaranth tried as she could to assess the situation, standing off against the Haunter hybrid, things haven't gotten any better for Freth. She was now on the ground, unable to notice much of anything as to what was going on around her. She felt weak. Completely powerless to what she was seeing instead. Freth was going to need help very soon.

When the hands released him and Dista, he would waste no time in throwing down a Pokeball and pointing outside. The pair would be quickly accosted by the Kadabra Reno had released, teleporting the pair outside of the castle. Along with one of the tombstones, which plowed into Dista and bowled her over. Glancing between Dista and their path forward, Reno reached down to drag the girl to her feet before he began to start walking back. "N-no sense in hanging around here. We should go back ta.......the town, right. Back ta town and report this information." Reno stammered out, still shaking for some reason as he began his walk to their meeting point, Dista close behind.

Rhyme sits in a tree, smaller Thunderstone in her mouth, sucked on like a candy as she ended up late, and for the first time that's a good thing. Judging by what's going on...she's not sure if being on time would have beneficial, but as someone mentions leaving she ponders how she can help but...well...not get caught up in the chaos.

Sub would have been waiting for everyone in front of the bonfire, as promised. Despite what many of them experienced around the festival the townfolk were still enjoying themselves, as if the events could not be seen by them, completely isolated. "We're missing a few, aren't we?" Sub commented as he looked at his fellow members. "I'm sure they are okay. For now, tell me about this lantern. Did anyone other than Crystal hear about it?" He asked them.

Poor Amaranth and Freth were right were this fiendish Haunter hybrid wanted them. Oh the fun he would have with them, the things he had to show them. This was a once in an eternity for him! Or it would have been, had a certain hybrid sporting a suit of armor not arrived on the scene. Hurling a Pokeball at the ghost, his faithful Chesnaught would appear from above and come down on the Haunter hybrid with a Wood Hammer, both fist ready to slam down and release their built up earthen chi. The ghost would barely avoid the attack and sneer back at Larrimore, this distraction almost completely cutting off the curse affecting the other two hybrids. "You both okay?" The Pinsir hybrid asked.

The giant Chandelure of fire would screech as the Hydro Pump pierced a hole in it and the Psyshock made it difficult to sustain its way as it began to sway and flicker in and out of existence. Before the giant fireball exploded and rained its embers down, it spoke. "The lantern! Bring it back to us! Jack will never rest until it's back! He torments us so..." Were its parting words before making an impressive firework.

Even the Togekiss would look a bit apprehensive, but she was ready to strike this hybrid at once. She opted to aid the sudden appearance of someone else and their Chesnaught with an Air Slash, though in dodging the Wood Hammer, this too failed to make any meaningful impact.

But with the Haunter hybrid's sneer, it seemed his attention was diverted enough to get Amaranth to be able to move again. Something she had been trying to do after seeing how Freth was doing about whatever was getting to her. She could only imagine it was the same as she had been dealing with, but despite that, it would've fueled her to try and smack some sense into her... if she had been able to move before the Pinsir hybrid pulling them both from the brink in one fell swoop.

That said, she didn't really recognize Larrimore at all. Some new member, perhaps? Or likely a wanderer. She had no idea, but she was grateful all the same. "I am," she answered, panting a little as she finally managed to start calming down. Those images would linger for a while, but no new ones were making a difference, minus the eternal image of Tongue Action: The Hybrid. She doubted she'd ever shake that one. "Sort of. I don't think any of us have met, have we? If we get the chance to fix that later."

Raine would merely shake her head, looking at the fire. Crystal would look around, noting everyone's lack of reaction. "Yeah, we are missing people... And the Mismagius hybrid I spoke to merely called it vile... and his." She shrugged, turning her gaze to the fire as well. "Any ideas?"

The images would subside for the most part, her sanity coming back to reality. She wasn't out of the woods as of yet, but there was a face that she was happy to see. "Larr...Larrimore..." Freth sat up. The occasional image blinking in here and there. Not anywhere near the constant stream what she was getting. It was still getting to her, but at least she could function again. For now. "...what...what just..." She looked around. The Haunter hybrid. That wasn't there before. "Is...he responsible for this?" Freth pushed herself up. "I swear, I hate being the damsel." She said. Apparently this Haunter enjoyed the whole essence of murder. She had no qualms demonstrating it to the ghost.

Thanks to Darts and Rain's intervention, Dan was brought out of his trance like state. He shut his eyes, they stinging as if he had been staring at the sun and shook his head. Oh how he hated spiders. Reliving that terrifying memory...it felt like they were still crawling on him. Once he came to, the structure above had already dispersed but left a message from a disembodied voice. "A lantern? What the hell is going on here?" he questioned, looking to the guy beside him.

Reno would stumble forward to the group, quietly raising his left hand before speaking up to Sub. "I-I did. The spirits in the...uhh, ruins? No, tower. Yes, the tower spirits were angry and wanted some lantern back. Tried to kill me and the group, so we bailed." The red haired man explained, quietly taming his shaking by clenching his right hand. "So....uh.....who knows where it is?" Glancing around the group in an effort to locate some spark of recognition, the shaky psychic channeler hoped to figure out what exactly he was hunting for and where.

"A lantern huh...could they mean the lantern that is the centerpiece of tonight's festivities?" Sub asked no one in particular.

"Bah! Three on one isn't fair when it's not in my favor! Bring us the lantern back before Jack gets it. Only then will my curse be lifted. Or fail, don't matter to me!" The Haunter hybrid said with a ghoulish laugh before simply disappearing from reality, not so much as a puff of smoke followed his vanishing act.

"Well that was certainly peculiar..." Larrimore commented as he watched the hybrid disappear. His Chesnaught just gave off an annoyed grumble as he walked back to his trainer's side, dismayed that it didn't get to clobber something. "I trust the two of you are fine? What is this curse it spoke of?" He asked them.

Dan's Pikachu was able to make some good distance with that SNAG. The whole while GRAY was trying to scan for the source of this foul chi but it was just too powerful to pin point a single location. It appeared all would be in vain until a black lantern with a tiny little sun floating inside of it could be seen resting on a table, surrounded by people and yet forgotten by them all. GRAY had been paying attention to what the others found out so he made it a point to alert Dan's Pikachu about the fact that they needed to find a lantern. Hopefully the Pokemon understood him. The camera on the SNAG wouldn't be stable for GRAY to see the lantern after all.

The guy beside Dan happened to be Trishella, who'd found her way back to where he was thanks to Dee communicating with another Electric-type. Had it been his Pikachu? Or another Pokemon entirely? Regardless of who it had been, Trish shrugged. "Not sure. I think there's some kind of tradition involving a lantern from Lost Tower here. Maybe that has something to do with it?" She asked.

Odd had arrived at the bonfire with Sol and the others who had been at the tower. "What Reno said." He affirmed, looking around for some sign of what Sub had mentioned regarding the lantern moments later. "I don't see anything like that around here but if it's important for the festival's evening events, it must be here somewhere." He said quietly, trying to pinpoint some kind of energy source to investigate along with searching with his physical senses.

"I'm not too sure." Darts grumbles, pulling his shaking jacket closer around him. "But my entire body is not liking this area. If it's a lantern we're looking for, it could be anywhere. It seems like a bad idea, but we're going to need to split up to cover more ground if we're going to find this thing. I seem to recall it being a famous centerpiece for this festival. Where would they have been keeping it?" He trails off as he scans the immediate area with his red eyes, no ideas jumping to hand quickly.

"We... should be," Amaranth replied, already fearing the images wouldn't truly end. But at least some time seemed to be bought. "He was a few Haunter before becoming... that. We were shown one terrible image after the next, threatening to drive us into whatever depths he wanted to send us in. That's probably the curse he was talking about..."

"It sounds like it," Aden remarked, "I mean, pissed off ghosts haunting everyone and going on about a lantern? Kinda makes me glad I steered away from this place the couple of times I went by here when it was close to the festival."

"Says the one that got spirited away on a Lapras once."

"Yeah, once. And I'd rather have that happen again than get spirited away and tormented by actual spirits."

"Oh, I don't know, it's not all bad," Sol quipped, "There is the occasional game of chess with Death. Wonder if it's my move or his... but Aden has a point. We wouldn't have several restless ghost Pokemon telling us or anyone else that they decided to go after to bring back their lantern or else."
