Yume shook off her frozen state and grabbed a stick and swing it at the crows. "I...I'm not leaving you behind Prim..."She kept hitting the crows until one of them hits her hand, knocking the stick out as well as herself as they kept attacking her. " AH g..g..get off!" She tried to grab the stick but she couldn't so she shielded herself by covering her head with her arms while trying to kick them off.

Seeing two girls unable to flee, Hydro tried to make her way over to them, dashing around the outside ring of the square over to them. This was difficult, as she had to leap around broken glass and a few tossed items. Hydro knew it was only a brief measure to buy some time, but she slashed the air with her staff, creating a arc of wind. This wasn't strong enough to do any harm, with civilians in the area she could only risk gentle spells. It was enough to drive back the nearby crows for a breath of a moment.

Plus, she couldn't spend too much of her energy if she were to hope to continue to use her shielding spell, especially if she could get any closer to enclose any more persons within the protective magic.

Aylin smiled as not only the young girl took the flyer but one of the graduating class also took an offered flyer. She didn't know the older girl very well but she had seen her enough around town and at different official Barton Town and high school functions to recognize her and have the girl recognize her. Just because the pair of students had taken the flyers it didn't mean they would actually attend the talk the following week. Still, seeing them show interest in the conservation talk was a small victory in itself. With the smile still on her face Aylin headed towards the town square and Rina's shop where she knew the young shopkeeper would allow her to not only post a flyer in the window but also leave a small stack of them for people to take.

The moment she arrived at the square something did not feel right. Seconds after arriving the emergency alert sirens around town began blaring loudly as the sky started to turn dark. At first Aylin thought she was in the midst of a very nasty storm. With the blackening sky getting darker Aylin was certain a tornado was heading for Barton Town. Her assumptions about a storm turning Barton Town all kinds of upside down were proven wrong when she noticed a very large and menacing murder of crows with glowing red eyes heading for the square. The moment they reached the square the crows began attacking the buildings and people living up to the murder moniker given to their numbers.

Caught in the middle of the chaos Aylin knew she had to do something. She couldn't just stand there and let innocent people be harmed by the creepy looking crows gone nuts. It went against everything Aylin was taught in her younger days with the military and all of her years traveling Gaia with Orrin. Aylin had one of two choices in fighting the crows heading for her, the sword or her magic. Taking a deep breath and making a silent prayer to the god of nature that nothing would go wrong Aylin called forth her magic.

"Lumen sphaerae!" Aylin called out as a softball sized sphere of light formed in her hand.

With the ball completed Aylin chucked it towards the crows and hoped the pure sphere of light would take out the crows.

Through all the chaos erupting around her, Lunette glanced back over to where the girl, Seren, had been previewing music. Lune saw that the girl had been alerted to what was going on and had enough sense to duck for cover. However, hiding wouldn't work for long. There was something odd about the berserk behavior of the birds that made Lune feel uneasy.

A lot of displays and merchandise had been knocked over in the ensuing panic. Lune glanced down and saw that a cross beam for a fancy metal display had been knocked down and was just inches from where she stood. She bent down and picked up the metal beam. It was just right to use as weapon, sturdy and not too big in diameter. In a word, a perfect staff weapon.

A few of the birds had broken off from the main group wreaking havoc in the store and started trying to go after Seren. Lunette swerved around panicked customers and ruined displays. Ducking a hanging sign that was hanging by one chain from the ceiling at this point, Lunette made her way over to where Seren was at and took a whack at a bird. It was a dead on shot.

Stay down for now! If I can distract the birds, make a break for the bathrooms. They don't have windows, and the doors are solid. You should be safe there!

Lunette spun the metal beam and whacked another bird right in the face. Ouch!

Prim stopped swinging her books when a girl appeared in the middle of the square, using a wind spell to ward off the demonic crows. Prim was in awe, and very gracious to the girl for saving her and Yume. Soon after she turned to see the pixie from earlier. The pixie had thrown a sphere of light toward the crows. The crows seemed to disintegrate at the massive ball of light. Prim was also in awe of the pixie's magic. She had never seen anything like it. These two defenders only made her want to help more. The crows were still surrounding them and they were too many to take on for the two of them, even with supernatural abilities; there were millions of crows. They all cried out in demonic screech. The ground rumbled a bit more, it was like an earthquake beneath them. Prim's knees buckled and she lost her footing. "Ahhh..what's going on now?" She said aloud, trying to keep balance. She closed her eyes, clasping her hands over her chest. She squeezed her eyes tightly, the pink butterfly fluttered across her mind's eye. Awaken. It beckoned. Prim didn't know what it meant. A pink aura began to surround Prim's body. The butterfly that was in her minds eye, had become an energy within her. Her soul resonated with this energy, and she let it take control. Memories flooded back, she was Primrose Papillon a Sailor Senshi. Her power had just been kept dormant. Prim opened her eyes. The pink glow became brighter. Her body acted on its own, accepting the newly awakened power. A moon rod had materialized in front of her. The books Prim was holding fell to the ground. She reached to her rod, and her clothes became her Senshi outfit. She lifted the rod and shouted "Crimson butterfly embrace!" A flurry of red butterflies began to combat the crows. In irony, the butterflies seemed to be winning the battle against them. Butterflies fighting against crows twice their size was a humorous sight. Prim's energy was being drained by using her power, but she did not want to give up. She would stand and fight until there were no crows left.

"Please be careful! And if it gets to be too much, please run too!" Lunette barely heard Seren call out.

Sure thing! Lunette shouted above the terrible cacophony of the crows. She hope Seren had heard, but there was no way to tell. Things were getting way out of hand.

Beyond the shattered window, Lunette glimpsed several people using magic of some sort to try to defeat the crows. Lunette herself was trying her best. Every swing of her makeshift staff weapon knocked out a crow which disintegrated in black dust, but she was only one person. Taking the birds out one at a time would not be enough.

Lune was frustrated. Even with the few people trying to defend Barton, they were all still greatly outnumbered. They needed more fire power if they were to stand a chance. The dark purple crystal Lunette always wore around her neck began to glow at just that moment. An odd sensation, as if electrical energy were steadily pulsing through her every vein, raced through Lunette. In the midst of a chaotic battle, time seemed to slow to a crawl for a moment around Lunette while the oddest thing happened.

The metal rod in Lunette's hand began to change shape before her very eyes. A long blade formed on the end, looking very much like a farmer's harvest scythe. The blade was pitch black and wicked sharp. Lunette glanced down and found that her outfit was transforming as well. She now wore a black skirt lined inside with shimmering purple hues, black boots with gleaming silver accents, and a black and white bodice with fluttering, sheer purple shoulder sleeves. The crystal she had been wearing was now a mystical pin at the top of her bodice. New gloves formed to her hands, made of a sturdy material that reminded her of a semi-sheer fishnet pattern. The final touch was a silver circlet with a dark purple gem nestled in the middle, reminiscent of her now transformed crystal necklace.

The transformation was complete and everything bounced back into real time. Lunette felt stronger though. She knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she stood a much better chance against the crows.

Leo Slash!

Lunette yelled out the command, not fully knowing why she had just said that, and whirled her new scythe weapon around her head. A silver crescent of light was released from her scythe blade and went screaming through the store, taking out every crow in it's path. That made a significant dent in the bad bird population. Lunette couldn't help but give a satisfied smirk and continue her attack.

Hydro had seen one transformation and three different types of magic thrown at the crows that all were more confident and stronger than what she'd been able to conjure. A bit startled, she changed tactic.
She didn't lack ability but confidence, and felt at this moment the better thing to do was help the one person who didn't seem to be able to strike back. Seeing the girl still behind the now transformed warrior wielding a lunar rod, she sprinted to her ((Yume)). "Hey, stay close, I'm going to extend my shield around you until this mess gets cleared up."

She stood watching the others apprehensively, ready to conjure the wind slash again if someone was overwhelmed with the attacking birds.

Once the crows were off her, she got up and saw Prim, who changed into something like a magical girl or something , a pixie, and another girl fighting off the crows. She wish she could help but she doesn't even know if she even have it. Yume turned her attention to the girl who spoke to her. "O...okay I w...w..will . " She tries to stay close as she watches all three of them fending off the crows.

Aylin let out a sigh of relief when the ball of light did what she had hoped. It was part of the reason she stuck to simple spells. The more complex the spell the greater the chance of it backfiring on her in some rather hilarious fashion. That was something Aylin did not want to risk happening in the middle Barton Square. She could not afford another Durem incident. There were more important tings to worry about like the safety of the people of Barton Town.

As Aylin tried to assess the situation and which of the remaining crows were within striking distance she noticed a very bright pink glow out of the corner of her eye. There was something very ethereal and familiar about the glow. It was something Aylin had experienced once before in her life when she was a teen no older than the girls she had crossed paths with earlier. Aylin's eye was drawn to her grandmother's broach that was pinned to her sweater. It was a piece that her grandmother always had on her when Aylin was a child. The family heirloom from the beginning of the four clans had always called out to Aylin when she was around it. The day her grandmother had, for the first time in Aylin's life, gone without wearing the broach Aylin finally gave into its call and took it from her grandmother's dressing table. The moment she held it within her hand, Aylin was engulfed in a bright glow and changed from head to toe. The experience scared her because of the amount of magic she could feel within her body. However, despite Aylin's refusal to use it her grandmother knew Aylin and the broach were destined for something great and had insisted Aylin join the military when she came of age to prepare her for what she was certain was going to be Aylin's future.

"No no I can't lose focus now," Aylin told herself as she returned her mind to battle with the demonic crows, "Ventum lamina!"

The simple wind blade spell should have easily taken down the four crows prepared to attack her. It was a spell that her three younger siblings had done with very little trouble. However, something went wrong and instead of the spell exploding and leaving her face covered in soot or backfiring and giving her a temporary change to her body the crows were able to deflect the attack and send it right back to her at full force. The blade of air tore into her clothing as it knocked Aylin down to her knees. She had spells go wrong before but it was nothing like what she had experienced. The pain from her own attack was too much to bear and Aylin desperately wished Orrin was still alive.

It was at that point the broach began to glow with a soft light as if calling to Aylin. With a sigh Aylin looked to the broach once again and spoke to it, "You really want me to use you don't you? Well, I guess I have no choice seeing as how my magic is backfiring in the worst way."

Struggling to her feet Aylin stood before the crows that had stopped her attack and held the broach between her shaking hands. She was so frightened of what so much pure magic might do to her body that her voice shook as she spoke the words her grandmother had told her would release the magic within the broach. "V-Ventos A-Alnair," Aylin managed to get out.

The light that had changed Aylin in her youth had once again returned to work its magic on her. When it faded Aylin found herself wearing the strange almost school uniform like outfit the broach gave her yet again. The bodice was creamy white with a rose gold band that gave way to a layered skirt of soft cream and gray with a matching collar and cream colored bows at the chest and lower back. The rush of pure magic Aylin felt in her body was frightening but she knew she had to risk using it in order to take down the demonic crows. For a second time Aylin tried the wind blade spell.

"Ventum lamina!" Aylin called out as the rush of pure magic sent forth the air blade to destroy the crows leaving a rather frightened and shaking pixie standing in the middle of the square.

Prim noticed that Yume was still being shielded by the azure-haired girl. She made a slight jest in her direction, and turned back to the crows. The pixie too had transformed and she had taken the crows on with a slash of air. Prim's power illuminated the area. The crows were steadily dying down. With others fighting at her side, she would be able to defeat them. The civilians all around were ducking and running, some had fainted or been injured. Prim held strong. She felt the others' powers uniting with her own. With her lunar rod, she swung, combating the crows. More butterflies dispersed, now engulfing the majority of crows. Prim now had the chance to purify her targets. "Rosebud Rejuvenation!" She shouted. A misting of pink shrouded the crows, purifying of them of their demonic nature.

As she leaned against the door it began to sound like it has quited down, feeling concerned she slowly opened the door for a peek. There was no sign of Lunette but instead a strange person garbed in black and white holding a large scythe, she watched as the person stood among all the fallen crows.

Taking this as a good time to move out of the store Seren made her way to the back exit and moved through the alley towards the front again, a little scared but needing to see what was happening in the square she peeked around the corner, to see several other people in strange clothes one in the center of it all was surrounded by butterflies that seemed to be stopping the crow's. Seren looked on with wonder as the skies began to clear of crow's.

"Damn it grandma, you know how much I never liked using the broach," Aylin cursed with a still shaking voice as she remembered her grandmother's lessons in controlling the transformed magic within her body.

Surveying the square around her Aylin could see the murder of demonic crows continuing to drop in numbers. With any luck she wouldn't have to use the magic from the broach a second time that day. However, that didn't mean she was out of the woods just yet. A pair of stray crows decided the frightened transformed pixie was ripe for attacking and headed towards her. Letting out a frustrated sigh Aylin made the familiar movement to unsheathe her rapier, however, the magic from the broach had decided to remove it from her side.

"Damn it this is just great," Aylin complained as she frantically tried to find the favorite sword in her collection.

Reaching around her entire body Aylin was taken by surprise when she felt the hilt of her familiar bladed friend behind her back when she could not feel its weight anywhere on her body. Not wanting to waste time trying to figure out just what the broach had done Aylin quickly pulled the sword out from the strange magical pocket just in time to swing the blade around lop off the head of the first crow. As the head from the first crow fell to the ground, Aylin spun around and stabbed the second crow like a piece of chicken on a skewer. With the same quickness of her attack Aylin swung her rapier down to the ground, stepped onto the tail of the now dead crow, and pulled the now bloodied rapier out of its belly.

"At least one good thing comes from using this damn broach. My speed and reflexes do seem to be a lot better," Aylin commented between huffing breaths as she watched more crows fall to their death.

By the time Lunette was finished using the crows for target practice, the whole floor of the music store looked like it had a bird feather carpet. Lunette's nose wrinkled in disgust at the thought of the dead bird smell that was sure to overwhelm the store soon unless people got it cleaned up right away.

They had better have this cleaned up before I come in tomorrow or I'm walking out. And I still didn't get my album! She huffed silently and surveyed the store in case there were any rouge crows left to deal with. Luckily, she had taken out all of the offending creatures.

No living bird-brained opponents in sight, Lunette's mind turned toward the girl, Seren, she had told to hide in the restrooms. Lune had to jump over tons of knocked down merchandise, birds, and even a few people to get to the restrooms it the back of the store. She knocked firmly on the door of the ladies restroom, just to avoid spooking anyone who might be hiding inside. There was no response. Carefully, Lunette pulled on the handle and opened the door a crack, scanning the room. Unless anyone was hiding in the stalls, the place was deserted.

Hello? Anyone in here? She called out. No one answered.

Oddly concerned with what had happened to Seren, Lunette also knocked on the guy's restroom door, but didn't open the door. Matter of principle. Luckily, a few teenage boys had taken refuge in the guy's room and shakily poked their heads out of the door when they heard Lunette call.

"Wh-what's g-g-going on?" one of the boys asked, still terrified from the crow attack.

Everything is clear in here. Judging from the lack of noise outside, I'd say things are mostly clear by now. You might want to think about heading home.

The boys didn't hesitate at her suggestion. They hastily exited the restroom and picked their way through the store and left. Now that Lune was the only conscious person in the store, she glanced out the broken window to see if her judgement had been correct. The skies were clear, and only a few stray birds were fluttering around. Figuring she may as well see if anyone outside still needed help, she made her way carefully through the store, taking note of the extent of injuries she could see as she went. There were scrapes and bruises, but there didn't look to be any casualties. Lunette stepped out into the surprisingly fresh air and breathed in a huge lungful to relax her mind.

Focused now, her job was to find out what happened to Seren. It made no sense, but Lunette felt responsible for the girl. She at least had to know if the girl was still alive.

Seeing powerful attacks decimate the number of attacking crows, and the bright purifying spell, Hydro was rather certain this mess was it it's end.

"Okay, you should be fine from here." Hydro said to the girl she'd stepped in front of. Lowering the magical shield, she handed the girl an magically conjured umbrella. Not stopping to explain, she magically threw a rain jacket upon herself and ran off as quickly as she came.

Not even before she exited the square did a soft rain shower begin to fall, meant to further deter people from returning to the square. That, and, it didn't hurt in her leaving without anyone fussing after her. User Image
