"I'll go check," Corvus offered, firmly suppressing certain long-ignored instincts that Melody's stretches were reawakening - that outfit of hers didn't leave too much to the imagination. Anyway, he headed into the lab to talk to Gizmo. Several minutes later, he walked back over, looking worse for wear; he was sparking, bruised, burned in places, and even smoking slightly, turning slightly to look at her as if he hadn't just gotten his a** kicked for interrupting his insectoid comrade. "Judging from the pain levels, he's on the home stretch, so he should be done soon," he wheezed out conversationally, body spasming slightly as he sparked again... and then toppling over rather comically, in too much pain to stand any longer, though he wasn't in any danger of dying or anything drastic like that.

Melody quickly kneeled down to Corvus to check him over. She took out a mini scanner to make sure he wasn't still sparking. He was. Melody took out another tool. This one sucked out electricity useful to storage energy and recharge her suit in emergencies. She carefully used it and it sucked out the sparks. She stopped it and replaced it in her suit. She then asked, "Um, why did you come back like you were in a fight?" Melody looked worried.

Corvus got up, albeit a little slowly, grinning sheepishly to Melody and wincing only slightly as his body protested the movement. "Well, w're a lot tougher than we look and we heal pretty fast to boot, so we don't hesitate to settle things with our fists or various other weapons when we start arguing... or even if one of us is just pissed at someone else. It's a semi-healthy outlet for our instincts, since otherwise we'd probably snap at the wrong time and cause a massacre. As to why I got my a** kicked this time... well, let's just say Gizmo doesn't like having his programming time interrupted." He paused, wincing slightly as he reached behind his back and pulled off... was that the remains of some sort of bomb? "On a related side note, if you ever decide to pick a fight with Gizmo for some reason, don't do so in his lab - he'll just set the security gizmos on you."

Melody nodded, "Ok that makes sense. Is that the same for your other instincts?" She asked curious. She checked over her other pockets then pulled out a little note pad. She wrote down what he said about their instincts then on a side note of what Gizmo would do. "I think I should take a nap. Our spar took out some of my energy." Melody said honestly.

Corvus nodded in understanding. "All right; we don't exactly get a whole lot of guests for obvious reasons, so there's no guest room, but you can use my bed if you want," he offered, starting to lead her to the room in question. "And not really. Thanks to Abyssian genetic randomization, the only instincts we have in common are the basics: a watered-down version of the warmongering instinct I mentioned, survival instincts, and similarly watered-down reproductive instincts. Other than that, the genetic randomization Abyssians get basically means we've each got different instincts - and there's still some variation among how we deal with the basics. Take the warmonger instincts: we can all vent it to an extent by picking fights, but that only works if we make sure not to let it build up for too long. I handle it by sparring, Gizmo handles it by making weapons, and Hood..." He paused, then chuckled nervously. "...Well, let's just say his method involves lots of blood, gore, and screaming, and that we usually put him in charge of any interrogations we need to do."

Melody wrote it down then looked around his room. She shyly walked to his bed. She moved aside his blanket then laid down. "Sometimes I sleep in my battlesuit." She said as she curled in his bed. She closed her eyes, asleep in minutes.

Corvus's room was actually pretty spartan, other than a few objects here and there: a guitar, a bookshelf with some books on it, and a photo of what seemed to be a child version of himself, Gizmo, and Hood with a human woman. Corvus watched her a moment, absentmindedly noting that she was actually pretty cute when she was asleep... and firmly clamping down on the little voice in the back of his head screaming at him to violate her in her sleep. Instead, he left her to her nap, stepping out into the hall so as not to disturb her. Coincidentally, Hood was waiting outside, giving him an irritable look. "Dammit, Corvus, what the hell are you thinking letting that woman in here? Not only that, but you gave her your real name - what happens if her superiors get curious and find out who we are, or worse, who our sperm donor is?!? They'll lock us up and perform all sorts of experiments and s**t on us! And having Silver upgrade her 'suit? That just gives 'em more firepower for if, no, when they turn on us!" he hissed, not wanting to wake their guest Corvus sighed; indeed, Gizmo and Hood weren't the others' names, but rather codenames they agreed to use around people they couldn't trust. His own codename was Crow. "Look, Fenrir, I get that you don't trust any military - " He pointedly ignored Hood/Fenrir's mutter of "no s**t, Sherlock." " - but if we're going to work with them, we need them to trust us, and that means extending some trust toward them in return. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't tell her what we are exactly - she thinks we're pureblood Abyssians - and I didn't tell her your or Silver's real names. I knew you'd blow a gasket if I did." His gaze softened slightly. "Besides, if you really believe humans can't be trusted, then what about - ?""Don't finish that, a*****e." Fenrir stared hard a moment, then sighed. "Fine, but if this bites us in the a** later, I'm ripping out your spine out and strangling you with it. And don't tell her our real names - we'll let her know 'em once we trust her." With that, he left, muttering about low blows and idiot carrion-heads. Corvus just shook his head before heading to the training room to work out some, leaving a note with Melody to let him know where he was when she woke up.

Melody jolted awake from a nightmare. She panted as she pushed back her hair shakily. Her nightmare was when she was overtaken with Abyssians. They were just about to kill her when she woke. Melody got out of the bed and did her breathing exercises. Quickly, Melody left the room taking a bare glance at Corvus's note. The soldier walked to the kitchen to get something to drink but once in there she wanted to make something to take her mind off her dream. Melody started to cook something. She was making chicken and dumplings. She was hoping the old time dish would sooth her mind. She was also making a dessert. Chicken and Dumpling has been changed over the years like all the other dishes to fit with what happened to earth. Basically now chickens and ducks are fused. The meat was a lot safer now and they are delicious. She broke down the large bird she found in the fridge. She broke it down to 16 pieces on the account of the bird having four wings and double breasts. The legs also had the natural fat ducks were known for. Slowly, the solder relaxed as the food cooked she started making a layered cake. She was thinking marble. An hour later, Melody was calmly icing her third three layered cake. All of them were marble. She sighed as she was finished and was now calmer than when she woke up.

Needless to say, Corvus was soon attracted to the mouth-watering scents coming from the kitchen, walking in and eying the food with interest. "Damn, that smells good... don't suppose there's any way I could seduce you away from the military and become a part of the group? 'Cause you're way too good for them," he noted with a small grin.

Melody gave Corvus a good look over before pouring some of the chicken and dumplings in to a bowl for him and herself. Smirking, she said, "You have a slight chance." She teased before sitting down. She was finally calm and was done frosting cakes. She blew on a piece of Ducken along with a dumpling. "And hope you like the food." She said.

"Guess I'm going to have to work on that first chance I get, then," Corvus quipped in return before similarly sitting down and trying the food. "Delicious." he noted after the first few bites, smiling to Melody.

"Well, then clearly you either became desensitized to your own cooking or never looked in a mirror in your life," Corvus half-joked with a small grin, adding after another bite, "Your personality's actually pretty up my alley, too."

Melody started to blush from the compliments, "To be honest, I'm not use to these. I'm not use to honest compliments that have nothing to do with the way I fight or how good I look out of my suit." She ate some more before saying, "And I don't really think my cooking is all that." The female soldier tilted her head, " My personality is up your alley? I'm happy to hear that." She said blushing, She hasn't blushed like this since basic training.

"Hmm... then clearly, you need to be complimented more often," Corvus decided cheerfully, finishing his meal with surprising speed, considering he'd been eating like a normal person. He then proceeded to start complimenting her repeatedly and relentlessly, each and every one of his compliments more honest and sincere than the last. Frankly, it was hard to tell whether he was trying to get her used to compliments or just seeing how much he could make her blush.
