Rolling for: 8/2/14 Wood gathered: 11/20 Galacie hadn't intended on hard labor today; in fact, she had intended on no physical exertion at all. One blessed, glorious day without drills, bruises, and sweat. Yet she was intrigued at the project she had heard down the grape vine; what sort of garden was a peace garden? It was something she hadn't heard of before, and therefore was promptly due for a visit. She hadn't even had the chance to greet the rumored Mr. Tuggle when she was swept up by the helpers - clearly the task was to gather wood. As if to prove every psychology study on peer pressure right, the trainee followed suit and plucked up wood. A year ago her un-calloused hands and measly muscles would have protested, but her time at the training compound did wonders. With a decent handful of wood, Galacie set it among the pile and sought out the man in charge, "Excuse me sir, but could you share information with me on what a peace garden is? Does this promote peace on a physical level in which combat is somehow hindered? Or is this a mental peace for the individual to meditate upon? How does it work?" She had plenty more questions, but decided that giving him a chance to explain would likely answer her curiosity.

Walls, the garden was ******** weird. One of Preacher's instructors had told her to visit here for some peace of mind, but she couldn't see how anyone could find solace in twigs and flowers. She veered away from Terry to gather wood. Stacking a few logs, Preacher simply found her heart wasn't in it.
Dumping her meager load of wood, she scrubbed her hands over her face. A splinter poked her cheek and she welcomed the distraction from her thoughts. Preacher couldn't stop thinking about the package she'd received. She swallowed uneasily. Abruptly. she turned to find some more wood.

Rolling for: 8/3 Wood gathered: 6 On the principle that mailing unwanted socks home would be kind of silly, Axel had elected to wear the horrible pink socks the next time he worked at the Peace Garden. Garish yellow kittens stared sullenly from his neon pink ankles as he gathered some wood. The presence of Preacher was new and distracting, and he didn't get much. He hadn't seen her in the garden before. The girl looked tired and kind of distressed. Axel frowned, wondering what was the matter. He was used to seeing Preacher cheerful (when talking to others), irritated (when confronted with something she didn't yet understand in a class) or furious (when looking at him). The thought of the ungifted pencils sitting in his trunk gave him a pang of guilt. It was probably a bad idea, but it bothered him to see her looking sad, and Axel approached her. "D'you need help? With the wood, I mean."Hideous yellow kittens glared up at Preacher reproachfully.

Great. He was about the last person she wanted to see. But, well, the was he military - it included social interaction, even if all Preacher wanted to do was kick walls or cry or ride back to Shiganshina or wherever to find Dollface. Instead, she looked up at Axel. Large circles ringed her eyes, and they seemed duller than normal. Preacher had slept even less than normal. And even though she had buried the package, it weighed on her like a water-logged cloak. She sighed. "I'll never need ya help, Axel." She said, although her words lacked heat. She summoned up a cocky grin just for him. "'Sides, who're ya ta gimme help when ya own pile ain't so big anyway?" Suddenly, she dropped into a crouch and her hand shot out around his ankle. A weak chuckle fell out of her mouth as she fingered his garish socks. "Tha ******** is up witchur fancy socks? You get dressed in tha dark?"

Shakuntala found it took an arduous effort to gather wood when it felt like a swarm of termites had infested her toes. The socks gifted to her were a tad bit itchy, but because she dare not upset a superior, the girl had forced them on her feet between breaks and trudged throughout the day with them on. Forcing herself to get used to the feeling, she returned to loading a bundle up into her arms.

Shakuntala sighed. Her back hurt like crazy and, by the looks of it, she had a few splinters to nurse. She'd rid herself of them later; there was more wood to be collected.

Lady Mist Galacie may now roll 2d20 - and if the fence is finished already, well, at least she has an awful, tacky pin! Mr. Terry Tuggle looked like he wanted to burst into tears. He bit his lip, and very gently places his hand against Galacie's shoulder, giving a friendly squeeze. "A peace garden is a garden that is used to nurture every aspect of our well-being. The labor nurtures the physical form. The teamwork nurtures the social needs. The peace that comes with being outdoors nurtures our mental peace. There is no judgement here in the peace garden. No angry words, no fighting. Just us and the blue skies and the sun, and teamwork and happiness and positivity. Our reward will be the garden that will eventually be here, the smiles on the faces of our comrades, and the knowledge that we've accomplished something here." Terry Tuggle sniffled softly. "It's so beautiful." He blinked away the bit of moisture that had gathered in his eyes before releasing Galacie's shoulders and rummaging around in the big satchel he wore slung over his shoulder. "Here. Have this. I hope your curious nature never leaves you, trainee, for that alone is a beautiful thing, and something you should nurture." He finally surfaced with a pin. It was a giant, rather garish butterfly. The wings were made of big, multicolored beads in every color of the rainbow, twined together with silver wire. He took a moment to attach it to the lapel of her trainee jacket. "There. Now run along, we've more work to be done!"

The circles under Preacher's eyes were startling, a stark contrast to her cheeky grin. His brows knit with concern. Preacher usually got under his skin with effortless ease, but he was too worried to be bothered by her taunting today. Axel stuck his foot towards her, turning it to and fro so she could examine the truly appalling pattern of kittens. "I'm glad you like em. Terry Tuggle over there gives out socks. They're happy socks."What could be the matter with Preacher? She did well in her classes, and as far as he knew he was her only enemy. Axel was baffled. "You look like you could use happy socks. I bet if you asked nicely, Tuggle would give you some." He was worried about Preacher, but the thought of Preacher wearing Happy Socks put a grin on his face.

Shun was... irritated. Somehow all his existing socks, which he didn't have much of in the first place, had gotten large holes in them. He'd have to find real replacements soon but... for now, he was stuck with the stupid socks Terry had given him the day before. He trudged on around, gathering what wood he could, then making his way over to the pile and setting it all down. He couldn't help but shoot a somewhat cold glare at the man as he walked on past. "Damn girl! You're strong!" Jeong-jae whistled at Yesenia after she'd hauled all that wood and their asses over to Terry again. Even after a short break she was ready and raring to go again! Figuring he'd better stop playing around for a few minutes, the twin hopped down and began helping fill up the cart once more. A thought occurred to him and he leaned over to whisper a plan to Hwan-jae to see what he'd think.
((Sorry to leave you in the awkward spot of what to do about the twins, Qixel!))

"No kidding, nice guns, Yessie." Hwan was very impressed with the fact that she'd been able to push them, the cart and the wood all at once. Yeah, he supposed this was a military academy where you basically bulked up or died trying but it didn't make her feat of strength less incredible.
At that moment, Jeong leaned over to whisper something and his face lit up in a playful grin in response as he nodded. Whatever the two were plotting, it couldn't be good!

"Ready go!" Once Yesenia had gotten in the cart to arrange the wood in the back, Jeong-jae nodded to his brother. Both grabbed a handle and began pulling the girl in a chariot sort of way. It only seemed fair to return the fun ride she'd given them! It wouldn't be fun without a little crazy mixed in though and soon they were barreling down the path at a fast pace, shouting for the others to "look out!" And "get outta the way!"
((Hope it's okay for me to set this up. It just seemed like fun! If not just say Jeong tried to spook her by yanking the cart but failed and I'll edit when I next get a chance! : ) people can maybe roll to jump out of the way or jump on!))

"C'mon, hop in!" He called out to the others. It didn't occur to him that this could be how the cart had ended up broken in the first place or that this might be incredibly dangerous. No, all Hwan thought about it was that it sounded incredibly fun and awesome as he raced alongside his brother with their passenger in tow. What a thrill it had been for him when he'd gotten a ride! They were able to go even faster with two people pulling the thing.
((Like Dou said, we can edit if you don't like the idea. Otherwise, feel free to leap in or leap away, everyone!))

Yesenia had just finished piling a new heap of wood into the back of the cart when suddenly the cart jolted forward. "s**t!" Thinking the cart was rolling off for some reason, she started to freak out, but laughed when she realized the twins were just pulling it. "You assholes! Nearly gave me a heart attack! Ahahahaha~!" Any anger she might have had quickly faded in favor of laughter. Rolling for: 8/3 Wood gathered: 33

"I dun want matchin' socks wit ya, Axel. Unless ya paid me, hmph." She looked up at him and his stupid face and his stupid grin. Wrapping her arms around herself, she stared. What the hell was he smiling about anyway? Her own forced grin faded and she sighed. Abruptly,. she shot up and pressed her hand hard against his mouth. "Stop grinnin' like a fool!"
