Kitty did as instructed, and allowed Malak the place the white fabric, the blouse, on her arms and helped her with the tiny buttons, then stepped into the skirt, yanking it up as Malak directed. Before stepping out, she looked at herself in the mirror and fixed her human hair a little, then existed the change room, and did a small spin so Silver could see.
"So," she asked, as she spun back towards him, "is this up to your standards?" She smoothed the skirt down, and folded her hands in front of her. She may not know a lot of human things, but she had observed their behaviour. "Miss Malak helped me put it on, but I shouldn't need her help putting on anything similar again. I don't need to be shown anything twice." One of the things which made her a capable familiar.

Silver impatiently waited outside the changing booth for Kitty and Malak to finish. When they finally did, Silver's jaw dropped. Kitty looked like a sexy secretary gross old CEO's had. He wasn't sure if he was happy she looked like a normal human, or if he needed to find a charm to make her look like an old woman to men and normal to women, like the character Moira O'Hara from American Horror Story. He would ask Kitty about the idea.
But first, Kitty was waiting for his feedback. "You look beautiful, Kitty. So beautiful." He smiled and took her hands, giving them a quick squeeze. "I'm sorry about earlier, I'm just worried about you. I guess I'm slowly learning what it means to be an adult and how to properly act. Please bear with me until I can be a proper adult," he requested of her. He was still going to ask her about the charm, until he felt confident about himself and how she was perceived by men.
Malak leaned against the wall and watched Silver and Kitty, finding the moment sweet and touching, like on t.v. It was like watching a father-daughter moment on a sitcom. Cheesy and cliché, but it was still cute in its own way.
Well, Silver has two more years until he needs to become a proper adult. His nineteenth birthday has come and gone already, Malak thought as she began calculating their next move. Pulling out her phone, she texted her cousins to see if they had the manor set up for boarders. And, as it turned out, she had several texts. They had a few people, aside from Alexis and her friends, who were interested in living in the manor. Good.

Kitty was shocked for a moment as Silver grabbed her hands, more then the compliments. She knew she was beautiful, at least in her cat form, she had been told so by many toms in her day, so being beautiful in this form was not surprising. Cats took pride in their appearance, if they were worth the rats they ate. But it was his show of kindness that surprised her. She offered him a warm smile in return and dipped her head. "Thank you, Master Silver."
Her smile switched from friendly to a little cheeky. "You don't need to worry about me Silver, my mother taught me how to fend off even the most determined toms who's affections I didn't want, and they learned well. You should have heard how loud they yowled, I think they will keep those scars." She smiled fondly remembering a time where her old Master had thought she had killed another cat before she had explained to him what had happened. "And as for you becoming an adult, I know human-kind take longer to mature, but no matter your age, you're my Master. I'm not going anywhere, alright?" She squishes his hands in what she hoped was a comforting gesture, then pointed to some of the lingerie he had picked out. "Now, what is that?"

Silver was beaming until Kitty mentioned her mother and how she taught her how to fight off toms. Human men and male cats were two different creatures with the same kind of mindset, but different forms of violence. If he could convince Malak, he could have her teach Kitty martial arts. Silver remembered Malak's cousins mentioning how they used to take martial arts classes back in Ohio when they were younger.
But he would worry about that at a later time because his smile came right back when Kitty spoke again about not going anywhere. Then again, it soon transformed into a gawk when she pointed to the lingerie. I completely forgot about those. "Er, well, you can just compare them to your body size without trying them on," Silver said as blush traveled up his cheeks. "I really don't need to see them on you. So long as they fit and you're comfortable in them." From the wall, Silver could see Malak cracking up again.
Malak laughed as Silver opted out of seeing Kitty in the underwear he picked out for her. "Just try out the other clothes, before Silver becomes a cherry tomato," she said between gasps of breath. Silver really cracked her up with his modesty and sincerity.

"Of course, if you're sure Master." Kitty replied, and help them up against her, shifting in the mirror to see. "It appears like they would fit me."
Kitty turned her head at Malak's laughter, and turned her head to the side, not understanding. "A tomato Mrs? Should I be concerned for his health?" Kitty had never heard of a human becoming tomato, nor did she know what a tomato even was, but it didn't sound good. She walked over to his side, and laid a hand across his forehead as she had been taught by her previous Master to do. "You are warm Silver, and your face is an odd colour. We should get you home, have a doctor come see you."

Silver flushed a darker red when Kitty began treating him like a sick child. She even suggested seeing a doctor when he returned home! This moment was so embarrassing. Malak was laughing harder than before. He could see her sliding down the wall and holding her gut while howling with laughter. "Kitty, please stop. This is so embarrassing," Silver begged of his familiar. "I'm fine, just, please go back to trying on clothes." He covered his face with his hands. He didn't even want to look at Malak because the sound of her laughter already told him enough.
Malak felt a sharp pang of pain in her side from laughing so hard. It took several deep breaths before she could semi-properly speak. Boy, this was hilarious. She couldn't believe Kitty never heard of idioms like turning red like a tomato, but then again, she used the hand-on-forehead exam to check if Silver had a fever. Malak supposed that was what they'd get from a familiar who lived all her life with an old man wizard.
Wiping away her tears, Malak finally managed to speak again. "Kitty, you're hilarious. I can't even begin how funny this is," she said before laughing again. It would take a few minutes until she was calm enough to be rational.

Kitty pulled back her hand looking confused and a bit sad. "Embarrassing, Silver?" She asked carefully. "As your familiar, it's my job to make sure you are looked after. Have I done something wrong?" She was concerned with the deepening red colour of her Master's face and the rising temperature of his skin. He really didn't look well, and him covering his face worried her. "Silver?"
She turned toward Malak, feeling more confused then ever. "I am not trying to be funny! Silver is ill, and you are standing there laughing at him! And I feel as though I'm being made the butt of some joke!" If she was a cat, her fur would have been raising along her back, and her tail lashing. "If you know what is going on with him, tell me, or else explain why this red face of his is funny and what this all has to do with a tomato!" By the time she was done her yowling, the shop keeper had paused his work to stare at her, but quickly turned away when she shot him a furious look.

Malak sobered up after a few deep breaths because she didn't want Kitty upset more than she already was. It was amusing to no end to know Kitty was truly clueless on the matter at hand, but it was also a bummer that Kitty hadn't caught on to what was so funny in the first place. "Silver isn't ill, Kitty. He just got embarrassed all on his own," Malak said as she began explaining the situation. "In human culture, it is typically inappropriate for a woman to be seen in her underwear, like those Silver chose, unless she's in private with her lover, or just showing her new underwear to her friends. Mine have done that a few times. It's no big deal for women.
"However," said Malak as she jerked her thumb in Silver's direction, "the human men are a different story. The dishonorable ones will either hoot and howl like those men Silver worried would get you in your bikini. Those types will treat you like meat, like you aren't even a person. They see you as an object and impress their desires onto you with no regard to how you will feel.
"The other kind of dishonorable men, they will call you terrible names, make you feel like utter garbage, because they want to feel superior to you. They don't want you to feel confident about yourself. They just want to trample all over you.
"Unfortunately, both these types are often combined and found all over the world, even here in Kuro Shiro. Silver worries these types may come after you, so the respectable types, which Silver falls under, are so important.
"Some respectable types take into consideration how you will be perceived and do all they can to keep your reputation clean. They also can become very embarrassed of things like seeing women who aren't their lovers in their underwear. Combine that with his age, your limited knowledge of human customs, your relationship, and our current location, you will also find that Silver is hyper-aware of the situation. He got embarrassed thinking someone may see him seeing you in your underwear, which should only be viewed by your lover, in private, though I honestly think if he saw you in your underwear at home, it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but whatever. I wish I could better explain it." Malak stopped talking and tried to remember what else she wanted to add. She felt that she hadn't properly explained the situation, but that was the feel of it.
After a moment, Malak remembered what she wanted to add to the moral of the story, so to speak. "Anyways, the cherry tomato bit is just me comparing Silver's blushing face, which was the result of him getting embarrassed all on his own, to a tiny, tasty fruit of a similar complexion." That was everything, right?
Silver had returned to a normal color during Malak's long-winded explanation of the situation. "Thanks, Malak, but you forgot one thing," said Silver before looking back at Kitty. He hoped she wasn't angry at him. "Kitty, the hand on the forehead thing? It's what mothers do to their small kids when they're sick. To have it done to me, out in public, like I'm some sort of small, helpless kid, is embarrassing."
"You're right, you aren't a small kid, but you're still helpless sometimes." Malak chuckled and somehow managed to slip in another sharp quip.

Kitty calmed down as she listened to the story. Now instead of fur raising and tail lashing if she were in her cat form, she would be purring. Her Master was trying to protect her. "Thank you Mistress for explaining, and I'm sorry I hissed at you." With a grateful smile she walked over to Silver and grabbed his hands.
"Thank you very much for looking out for me, Silver." She smiled at him too. "And I am sorry that I embarrassed you with the clothes. I will try them on privately." Her smile turned a bit mischievous. "But as for touching your head to check your temperature, I have to look after you as your Familiar, and I take that very seriously. I already lost one Master..." Her smile slipped into a somber voice, as she thought of her old kind and gentle Master. But she shook it off. "Beside Silver, in cat years, I am much older then you."

Silver blushed again, but this time because he was swept away by the situation, again. Kitty was a real gift to him. She was like another mother, sister, and friend, which was an amazing combination. "I know, Kitty, but I'm young and healthy." He gave a short laugh and smiled. The rest of their lives really would be a roller-coaster ride. They would learn and grow from each other, he could feel it. However, he still had a few issues...
"Ya'know, Kitty, I know you're older than me in cat years, but you look around the same age in human years. Besides, can't cats smell a change in someone's health or something?" Silver asked, his face scrunching up as he tried to recall where he heard that bit of information from.
Malak stepped into the sweet, touching moment once again, firmly placing one hand on the shoulder of the master-familiar pair. "I think that depends on how bright the animal is. And that's beside the point of our little trip. We can all sing Kum By Ya later." After all her laughter and fun, Malak finally noticed the other shoppers in the boutique. She decided, for the sake of publicity, they needed to finish up their shopping trip and return home, or at least walk around town for a little bit to cool down their heads.

"Yes, for now you are." Kitty replied, and dropped his hands. "And I can scent a change in your well-being, when I'm in my cat form. In this form I am reduced to a humans lesser sense of smell."
When Malak stepped beside them, Kitty nodded her head, having no idea what 'Kum By Ya' was, but she understood the tone. Back to the task at hand. She picked up the clothes that had fit, and scooped them into her arms. "Shall we pay for these now?"

Malak looked at Kitty and the clothes, unsure if they should leave, or wait and try on the rest of them. But then again, they could always return to the boutique and return the clothes if they don't fit Kitty right. "Just one question, Kitty, are you wearing those clothes out the door, or will you prefer your cat form? Also, you need to try on some shoes." Until that moment, Malak forgot about the necessity of shoes. She could only imagine Kitty drawing a line with high heels, but she could surprise her.
It was like a light being switched on over his head when Malak mentioned shoes. Silver remembered Kitty did fit his mother's shoes, so he was sure he could find her some decent shoes to wear. However, he had to find practical shoes for Kitty. "Malak's right, Kitty. You need shoes. Some will be like the pair you wore at the ball, those high heels. Are you comfortable with those? You can get wedges or sandals if they feel more comfortable on your feet," he said. "We could also buy you tennis shoes if you want. They're a lot more comfortable, but not very stylish." They would be good for hiking trips, but Silver doubted Kitty would be in her human form if they ever went out hunting.

Kitty turned back and forth, addressing both of their questions in turn. "My feline form is my preference, Mistress." She answered Malak's first as it come foremost. "And I am comfortable with the tall shoes. After getting the hang of them, they were easy." Cats had naturally good balance. Besides, she liked being tall like being up high, so she could see what was going on around her. "But if you think anything is more suitable, I can wear that was well." She really didn't have a preference in shoes, even less so then clothes. Cats would never dream of wearing shoes, but they did on occasion cuddle up under faberic for warmth.

Malak gave a short laugh, hooked her arm through Silver's, and motioned for Kitty to follow them to the shoe section. Kitty was fun to have around, even if no one understood what Malak found so funny. The things Malak could see, the magical network, made people funnier to her. "Let's try out some shoes and then head home, eh? You have some new renters," she said with another little laugh.
Silver stared at Malak for a good moment before glancing over at Kitty. Nothing Kitty said was funny, but Silver did like hearing Malak laugh. It was a free laugh. "Well, then we can't wait to meet them and write up a contract deal," said Silver after a pause. "Hopefully, Tío hasn't been causing them any trouble." Until that moment, he had forgotten about his uncle, but now that he finally had renters, it meant he had to really worry about his uncle sabotaging them.

"Yes, we've been neglecting our duties for too long." Kitty replied, then gave an irritated mrrrrow at the mention of Silver's Uncles. "That's true, hopefully they have not. I've been thinking I needed to find something to sharpen my claws on. Let's go."
[Kitty and the others make their purchases, and then exit to their home! ]
