Muris looked like she was about to cry. She was tired, and now Alcie...her Alcie..he was treating her almost like she was a stranger! Just because...just because she was taller and..

She bit her lip, trying to keep it from quivering too much,
"Just...I'm still..just..Muri..." she managed to squeak out, her eyes getting a bit watery. She wanted to hug him, just like she always did....she wanted him to make it all go away. He was still Alcie, right? He always made her smile.

So confused.

Alces didn't quite understand why she looked as though she was about to cry and frowned a little at that in a worried fashion. "V..very well." He told her, with a nod of his head, "Muri it is then." It still sounded as though he didn't feel right saying that instead of her full title, but, it was obvious he had tried to make it sound 'normal.' "Are you all right then? It didn't hurt you too much?" His voice became more relaxed as he moved towards her slowly. "I hope it didn't hurt nearly as much as you thought it might when you were still..young."

The mouse-girl settled herself rather uncomfortably in the chair across from him, recnogizing that throwing herself at him probably wouldn't be a good idea at this point-- not when he was acting all tense around her already.

"It...hurt...it hurt a lot..and..it's...confusing." she tried to explain, biting her lip softly,
"I just...I don't know....it's.."

A tear rolled down her cheek,
"Don't you like me anymore, Alcie?"

He blinked at her question and almost seemed to freeze up. He also appeared to have stopped breathing.. He let out a small cough again and cleared his throat again before going to move to the seat beside her instead of across from her. Once there he sat himself down and shook his head, "I'm sorry it hurt you a lot." He swallowed a bit hard and then after a moment of silence went to answer the question. "No, no. I still--like you. I was just, um, surprised, that's all."

She wiped at the tear, trying to make herself stop feeling so sorry for herself. She remembered how upset she'd been when Alcie had gotten bigger. Of course he'd be upset to see her the same way.

"I'm..sorry.." she said softly, "I just...it's been really hard..and I was afraid you wouldn't want to be friends with me anymore, 'cause I'm not cute and little like I used to be.."

In a way, she kind of had been. Would her old friends accept this new her?

Now that Alces knew what the problem was, or rather, thought he knew, he relaxed even more. He leaned over in his chair and went to put his arm around shoulders to pull her into something along the lines of a half-hug; that is, if she would let him. Alces wasn't sure so he moved slow enough for her to stop him. "I would never not like you Wran--Muri." He informed her, his voice sounding more like it's caring self. That is one thing you don't ever have to worry about." He pulled out his little handkercheif that he always seemed to have on him from somewhere around his belt. It of course, had been washed, either that or hadn't been used since it had been washed last, and he went to hand it to her in case she needed it.

She snuggled into his hug, curling against him and sniffling a little bit. This was much better-- much more like the Alcie she remembered cuddling her as a little girl. Shifting, she settled herself in his lap and took the handkerchief from him, wiping at the tearstain,
"I'm glad..you're the last person I want to hate me.."

She could probably live with the others not liking her. Maybe. But Alcie'd always been so nice to her...

The man blinked when he found that she had moved onto his lap. He would have shifted a bit uncomfortably, but he had learned long ago from earlier 'incidents' that that was something you didn't do. He had also learned not to let her know she had become heavier than she had used to be as a little girl. That little piece of information, he had picked up from some of the movies he had watched with his Kithain. He smiled at her and nodded at what she had said, then added, "You're the last person I would want to hate." He went to give her a small pat on the shoulder with the arm that wasn't around her, "If I had somehow known that you were going to undergo the transformation when you did, I would have been there, at your side, to help you. I'm sorry I wasn't able to be there."

Muris snuggled against him again, happy that at least -one- thing didn't change. Maybe she was a bit bigger and smarter, but Alcie was still her Alcie.

"It's okay. I didn't know either. King Cervus was there, though, and he took me to see Miss Lilium afterwards to tell her about it...after that it was all I could do to fall asleep in the empty stall."

There was no way she would have made it up the rope ladder to her room, so instead she'd settled for a bed of hay.

"It is good to know you didn't have to go through that alone." He continued to smile at her. "I'm still sorry that I wasn't able to be there though. I would have liked to have been." Alces let himself relax more, slowly becoming more like himself as he got over the 'shock' of seeing Muris all grown up. "Shouldn't you be resting now after going through such an ordeal? Or are you the type that recovers quickly from such things?" He asked with a small grin.

Muris shook her head,
"I don't wanna take a nap, because I'm afraid I'd sleep too long and the horses would get restless. So I just kind of let myself sleep in as late as I could this morning, and now I'm relaxing a little...was gonna read.."

She flushed a little at that. She -had- been about to sit in the library and read until she'd spotted Alcie.
"But I'd rather sit here with you."

She needed the comfort of being around somebody she knew, definitely.

Alces grinned a bit wider to himself; he should have figured it would have something to do with the horses, "They are lucky to have you in the stables with them. I'm not sure if anyone besides you could be so kind to them that they would stay up to make sure they were happy even if they weren't feeling well." He went to give her a small hug with his arm that was around her, "That's what I had come here to do. As well as return a book I just finished. Although that can wait." He said with a small nod toward her and another smile.

The mouse tapped her chin thoughtfully,
"Well, maybe we could both still read. I could read out loud to you-- I should prolly practice a bit anyways." She wasn't sure if her newfound maturity extended to things like reading.

"All right, if you would like to." He pointed toward the book he had had with him earlier, "If you like, you could read that one. I don't know what it's about. I just grabbed it off of the shelf. Or, if you would like to find some other book you may." Part of him wondered why she would want to read to him, but he figured she had her reasons, otherwise she wouldn't have asked in the first place.

The girl nodded, taking the book from him and opening it. The words were really a -lot- easier to read, it seemed. They seemed to almost flow off her tongue, as though she'd known them all along, rather than the strange guess-and-check game she'd been playing with her attempts.

Relaxing, she realized just how exhausted she was from all the work she'd been doing. Not just the transformation, but from feeding and walking all of the horses and from cleaning tack.

Maybe Alcie was right, and she ought to take a nap..but she didn't want the horses to end up not getting their afternoon walk if she slept too long.
