Cai
"That is an interesting thought. Because so many people handled the eggs they could have been influenced similar to a Touching? How many of the people here helped return the eggs other than us? I know she was." He tilted his head at the young goldrider who appeared too infatuated with her new flits to notice the pair talking about her.

Lavi
Lavi was waiting towards the back of the crowd. Although she kept glancing back at the eggs every now and then, her gaze was largely fixed on her son, who was sitting curled up on the floor, watching the hatchlings intently. In fact, she hadn’t noticed her little visitor until it greeted her with a ciriup.
“Oh my! Good morning, dear.” She said, bending over to offer it a piece of meat from her bowl. “Are you hungry.” The green flit chirped politely and hopped onto her arm, eating daintily from her hand. Well, it seemed she had another mild-mannered green to add to her collection. Who are you calling mild mannered? Xenith snapped. I was referring to little Aurus. she said, laughing.
P'lias
Look! Look, P’lias. I think this one likes you. And how fitting that it’s a blue. Blue is the color of Harpers you know. It will make a wonderful musician, I am sure. Helioth said, calling his attention to the approaching blue. And what if it doesn’t want to be a musician? P’lias asked, although he could already guess Helioth’s answer. “Who wouldn’t want to be a Harper?” he muttered under his breath, even as his dragon said it. He knew, because he’d been asking the same thing for the last two turns, and had always gotten the same answer. P’lias crouched down and flicked a piece of meat towards the shy blue. Then another. Bit by bit, it inched closer to him, until finally P’lias was able to coax the ‘lizard onto his arm. He didn’t seem like much of a attention hog. In fact, it seemed like it didn’t want the spotlight at all. Just like me. P’lias thought. Maybe they would get along better than he knew.
Daimon and Rowan
"Yes we're Astri's brothers." Daimon replied for him, while Rowan nodded to the question as well. He smiled at the boy, glad he had gotten a firelizard of his own. On the table, Nimbus lifted his head and gave a chirp. Picking himself up, he flew onto Rowan's shoulder, which he gave a squeeze to get his attention. Looking around, Rowan finally noticed the new blue hatchling that had apparently followed his brother over here.
Hungry? Rowan wondered. Nimbus seemed to imply affirmative with an urgent twittering. Rowan happily obliged, reclaiming his bowl from earlier before setting it before the 'lizard.

"She's definitely a looker. From a wild clutch. His name's Foen." Lorend grinned. The blue in question arched his neck and hummed at Paige. He liked the attention. Sadly attention was quickly diverted from the blue by the arrival of the gold. Lorend held her breath, mostly as Paige attempted and succeeded in coaxing the gold to her. "Oh wow! She's so lovely."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lathis watched to be sure she didn't feed the brown too fast. Her eyes caught a glimpse of dark movement. Almost like a highlighted shadow. Popping another piece into the waiting brown's jaws, she looked up to find it wasn't a shadow but a dark green. It didn't take much before a piece was promptly tossed to the green.
How could she resist such a beauty? Well done Mine. She is very striking. Koioth approved the dark green flit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She just wanted to giggle, but restrained herself. There were riders present after all. Bacha focused on the green and fed her every time her jaws open to demand more.

 The large clutch was dwindling rapidly. Only seven eggs were left on the sand of the original thirty one. And twenty different coloured hatchlings were now happily feeding from various riders, candidates and other weyrfolk. That left only four hatchlings tottering about on the sands. The bronze; now left by his brother he was trying to help, the newly hatched blue; still making his mind up on where to go, and two browns; the first still looked to be recovering from his tumble, while the second and smaller brown was already moving ahead to find someone. A small egg began to shudder, the motions small and controlled as a firelizard within began to shift themself around in their bid to escape. Several other eggs in the clutch were giving the odd twitch and shuffle, it seemed there would be no duds in this bunch. Lines formed across the egg, meeting here and there. Some growing in slow twitches, others jumping the length of the egg in one motion. The lines gradually met up in a way that the hatchling seemed to find convenient. The front of the egg flipped open like a trap door as a pale green head pushed it open by swinging her head back. The dainty creature carefully pulled herself out and gazed at the people looking at the clutch. A long moment passed as her eyes slid over them before finally, with a disinterested huff, she settled herself down and began to preen. She wasn't going to hurry for this rabble. First came her wings, with their patterns and after that her striped legs would get some attention. Whilst the little green was disregarding the crowd however, the smaller brown was eager to be involved. This all looked very interesting and he would very much like to be involved. They were so big and so loud. That made them interesting as far as he was concerned. And they had food! That was definitely a bonus. The dark brown managed an odd lope as he rushed toward the group. He wanted to get in on this as soon as he could. They were going anywhere, true, but there was no time to lose. Spying a likely candidate he took in the other firelizards already with them. Oh yes, they looked to be an interesting bunch! Yes indeed. Scuttling over the brown stood beside the bronze in front of Jemi and chattered excitedly. Yes! Hello! It was nice to meet you! Was it nice to meet him? They would have fun together! You were fun weren't you? Of course you are! Yay, fun!

Ionan had wrapped his arm around his new firelizard, hoping the small blue would fall asleep after filling its gut. He was pleased when it did: grinning and stroking the blue's hide. Hm. What to name him?
He reminded him of weather, almost. Oh, a cloud! That's what he'd call him! "Okay, your name's Cloud," he said. He looked to Daimon and smiled brightly. "Then let's be friends too. Astri and I are friends. We have all softs of games! You can both play, too! And Cloud!"

Jemi Jemi paused and grinned, looking at the brown at her feet. "Well, aren't you a handsome fellow." She offered him a bit of meat and watched the brown take with enthusiasm. "You might be on to something there... we all touched rather specific eggs and the flits seem to be more bee lining to certain people then just going Ooh look meat. "

Cai
"That might be easier to test in the future." It wasn't the same as his original idea, but he looked at the green and blue in his lap. There was no doubt that at some point she'd clutch and if he could find her eggs, he might be able to conduct an experiment similar to this, with more control and a better tracking system.
Jemi had picked up a rather small brown to go with her other firelizards. How many was she going to Impress? Cai looked warily at the clutch. He had two already. One more than he'd initially wanted. He wasn't all too sure he'd like another.
Z'fer
Well Shaff! The green clung to him and nuzzled in a distracting manner, all the while being verbally coddled by his dragon outside. In the meantime, Z'fer watched the gold, the first bronze, and even a couple browns pass him right by without even a sniff at the meat in his hands. He just wanted one more. Especially after seeing that shaffing mountain of a weyrling impress the bronze and brown.
And of course the little gold weyrling impressed the gold. What a fardling spoiled little brat. He could feel himself developing a severe dislike for both women, one thing that he and Iacauth could at least agree upon.
He was still going to be in the wherpens with her for a sevenday at least though for his desire for a 'better' color than green. Green was the best color and he should know that. He had the best green dragon after all.

Hineni absently fiddled with the piece of meat that had been placed in her hand, turning it about in her fingers. Squishy, wet, and fresh, the candidate smiled as she watched the unbonded babies just doing their thing and looked on in curious interest when the young flits did hone in on the person they wished to take care of them. That's how flit worked, right? Or the person who looked most ready to feed them? Something like that. Back at home, any questions regarding flits or the remote possibility of getting one were quickly squashed. The memory made her wrinkle her nose. Well, her family wasn't around to tell her otherwise now. Her old Master enjoyed them plenty, so that was more than enough for her.

Ryala watched as the dark blue hatchling finally yawned and curled up in the crook of her elbow. Wondering what she would call her first friend at the Weyr, she gently stroked his tiny form until the hatchling finally gave in, and closed his glowing eyes to drift off to sleep.
Still rather awed by finally Impressing her very first flit, she looked to see what was going on with the rest of the eggs. She wondered where the gold hatchling had gotten to... hopefully, it had found someone who would treat her well. Spying other winged shapes moving around, Ryala approached, careful not to awaken her sleeping charge. Some people here had more than one flit. Might there not be a chance to snag a second one, herself? She could certainly use another friend here. Thankful now that there was still a little meat left in the bowl that she still held, she looked over the hatchlings, and spotted a very dark blue one, with a number of little spots on his hide, almost like stars. Between that and the rather interesting sheen of his hide in the light, she found it difficult to look anywhere else. He was so gorgeous!

 The speed of the hatching seemed to be slowing rapidly. The last few eggs either having a bit of trouble getting some cracks to appear so their occupants could go free, or the firelizards inside just didn't seem too energetic. Perhaps it was the feeling of contentment that permeated the hall as several firelizard youngsters began to nap and slump, with full tummies and happy minds. The grown firelizards looked down at the clutch, nearest of all the clutchmother. The fair seemed untroubled by watching their young wander off to go join with humans. They had been fed by humans for the past several days and knew they would take good care of those that chose to go with them. Still there were members hovering close by, with bit of meat, fish and other scraps of food grasped in their claws. Just in case any of the hatchlings didn't want to take up the chance to stay here with the humans. A bright egg began to roll forwards, propelled by the firelizard inside. The egg itself was a tiny, little, thing that looked like the child who had been painted it had changed their mind at the last minute. The egg had been painted blue with green spots, apart from one patch that had been painted orange and red stripes instead. The egg continued to roll until it landed in a ditch, up against the side of the trough. Rocking the tiny egg knocked against the wooden edge, not having enough momentum to go over it nor the ability to go back the way it came. The repeated bangs gradually cracked the side of the egg and it rocked backwards. Small feet pushed at the crack, forcing it open until the small green could pull herself up and out to perch on the edge of the trough. The bright green had a solid darker cape covering her face and running down her back, lacing her wings. The dark would have been unbroken except for the pale spots that ran in lines on her face and wings, and the small stipe between her wings. The green looked at the gathered crowd from her perch, one by one, as though looking for someone. There, that would do. She was appropriately clean for the occasion. Picking herself up, the recently hatched green strode purposefully towards the edge of the trough. Sparing a glance at her younger, smaller and darker sister perched along the way, the young green mustered herself and sprang forward. Her wings snapped open and carried her past the gathering of people before she had to land. She looked over her shoulder with as close to a confident smirk as a firelizard could get. That would show them who the real prize of this clutch was. Turning her back on them she walked onward. Still, now she had limited her options a great deal hadn't she? Still there was yet potential with what she had left. The female looked around her for a long while trying to choose the best specimen that was around. It seemed most of the older ones were focused back on the eggs and only a few younger ones were this far back. That was troublesome. Turning her gaze to a table of younger ones she took in the trio. Two were far too young, but the eldest would suit her needs. Pacing forwards the green came to a stop at the lads feet and called up to him, waiting expectantly for him to acknowledge her. If there was an award to be given for the longest any firelizard had stayed on the sands, it would most likely have gone to the young bronze still sat there. Within the first ten to hatch the bronze had stayed on the sands as nearly twenty eggs had hatched around him, without even making a movement to leave the sands. First there had been his trouble of getting out of the egg, then he had tried to help his blue brother, only to then be left on his own. Instead of following the bronze had just parked himself down and waited. What exactly he was waiting for nobody could be sure. Perhaps even he wasn't sure what he was in fact waiting for. Perhaps the bronze just wasn't interested in impressing to anyone after all. He didn't seem to fascinated by the sight of all the people with their firelizards and the food they held. He sat for several minutes simply looking forward before some unseen cue signalled to him his time was up. The bronze swiftly got to his feet, left the trough and walked unerring right up to a young candidate. Hello there, miss. You looked a bit lonely stood here all by yourself, so I've come to stand with you. Nobody should be on their own all the time.

Paige
"Heee!" Foen was acting adorably and Paige winked at him once the gold was in her lap and comfortably eating. She alternated pieces of meat between the two ladies though there didn't seem to be any inclination to jealousy or greed between the two. In fact, confined in the small space of her lap, they were slightly leaning against each other. Touching wings and sides as the smaller green curled up against her much larger sister.
"I never did find any clutches. You'd think growing up here in Ista I might have ended up like those kids over there" She nodded her head at the weyrbrats currently swimming in firelizards. "I never could find them either! I didn't want to buy an egg. What marks I got always ended up in clothes, sheet music, and treats." She rolled her eyes and shrugged in a 'no surprise there' way.
"A lot of these ones have really bright markings I've noticed!" Her little green was much plainer in comparison by far, but the bright tips to her wings was enough for Paige to include her in that group. "It's such a large clutch too. I didn't think firelizards laid so many eggs!"

Daimon and Rowan
Daimon grinned back at Ionan, amused. What games was he playing with his sister? "I'm a little old to be playing games, sorry. But if you ever feel like sweeping floors or scrubbing dragon hides, let me know." he joked. Daimon barely had time to continue his craft studies between chores, lessons, and taking care of Kleimeeth. "Rowan'll play with you though." he said, another cruel grin coming across his face, as he once again passed the kid off to his unsuspecting brother, who was too busy feeding his new blue to pay attention to what they were saying. "In fact, he's playing a game right now. It's called.. uh.. 'Sleeping Lizards'," he said, coming up with the name on the spot, with inspiration from the little green curled up on his lap. "The only rule is you can't make any noise. So what do you say? Think you can play with him?"
That done, Daimon returned his attention to the green curled on his legs. He had come up with a name for her.. he thought. He had already coaxed the first 'lizard into his lap, where she had settled down contendly, when he was surprised to see a second stopping expectantly in front of him. "You too?" he asked, eyebrows raising. He laughed, reaching a hand down for the second green. Before long he'd have more flitts than he knew what to do with. He'd have to pass them off to Astri. Maybe she could train them like she had with Mask.

Lorend petted her sleepy green as she watched the goldrider Impress to a second flit. How lucky was that?! She felt the blue rub his head on her cheek. "Don't worry, you're still my number one pranker," she whispered as she cuddled the blue. He was as close a friend as Tribleth, though the green didn't often approve of her activities.
"I suppose they were in the right place at the right time." It didn't really bother her that others had more than she did. With a large fair it'd be harder to pull off pranks. "Don't have to worry about that now eh?" Lorend grinned. She glanced around and nodded. "Indeed. Beautiful lot. The gold must of been furious when they all went missing. Guess they can eh? Not many tunnelsnakes here to eat them."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lathis smiled to herself as she tossed a few more pieces at the green. She was reluctant to come over, but the contented feelings from the brown finally convinced her. She offered a piece to the brown then to the green waiting at her knee. Such pretty dainty creatures. I'm glad you approve Koioth. You'll be able to help me with both of them.
Of course I knew you'd ask. It's only proper after all. The dark green replied with poised dignity.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At last the green seemed to be full. Bacha gave her darling a gentle hug and settled her into the crook of her arm. Petting the green until she closed her eyes. Glancing around she saw the hatching dwindling down. Wouldn't her brother be pleased?!

   Three eggs set about energetically rocking in unison. The eggs swung, bounced, rolled and spun, managing by some stroke of luck to not hit each other. The first to break, the side of the egg being broken down by several strong kicks from inside, had a green tumble out of it. The green was a muted shade, with dark, light and bright shades on her face. The newborn spread out her wings, the backs of her wings were striped with bright and dark shades, with pale undersides. Chirruping curiously the green promptly climbed to her feet and walked swiftly towards the humans. she'd been in that egg so long and was very hungry. That needed to be fixed as soon as possible and she was just the kind to go find the solution herself as quick as she could. The next two eggs spilled out yet another green and a brown with little time between them. The brown sat up and looked around at the crowd, there were so many of them, he didn't like that very much. They were too big and the brown wasn't sure he wanted to go near them just yet. The green on the other side had made up her mind entirely already. She didn't want anything to do with those loud creatures, they were not like her. The green turned and called up to the firelizards perched above, they were like her. A older, larger, green swooped down and offered the little green part of a fish, which was quickly gobbled up. The older green led the youngster away from the clutch and the humans, where more firelizards descended to offer the little green scraps of food. Clearly not content to wait around the other green moved forward, ignoring the other firelizards and moving straight toward the humans. She wanted to be fed too! However she felt like being picky about where she was going to get her food from. There were so many firelizards already around and she wanted to make sure the one that she picked would have enough food to feed her and any they had too. But how would she know that? The green seemed to flit from one person to another, giving them all a quick glance before moving on. One of them had to be right, but which one? The little green grew nervous, stopping and shuffling from foot to foot. Looking around she spied a human with two blues snuggled up to him. They looked kind and the other two were sleeping so he would have time to feed her, right? Cautiously skittering over the green looked up at Wen at peeped her question. Could she stay with them? Still perched on the edge of the trough, the tiny green from before seemed reluctant to go out and find someone, but she would have to eventually whether she liked it or not. Turned out the the young green was going to get a helping hand with that in the form of the older brown. While the more recently hatched brown was sat trying to decide what to do with himself, this brown was walking around with his head in the air. Had he been looking where he was going then he probably wouldn't have walked into the tiny green, sending the pair tumbling over the edge of the trough. Shrieking in panic the green jumped up and ran off as quickly as her little legs would carry her. The much larger brown looked up and called after her. Wait! He hadn't meant to hurt you. Scrambling to get up the brown ran after the green, his larger legs soon catching him up to her. He was sorry, it had been an accident. Please stop so he could make sure you were okay. The green however only shrieked again and kept running. Straight into the lap of a young boy. Help her, he was chasing her! The brown skidded to a halt at Ionan's feet. He hadn't meant to! It was an accident! She wouldn't listen! Hey, was that food?

"I don't like that game," Ionan grumbled, frowning up at Daimon. His father was a harper, as was his brother: Ionan thrived on noise. He delighted in it. He blew a raspberry in Daimon's direction. "No one's too old for games," he said, matter of factly. "No one. Not Papa or anyone. And he's much older than you!"
He was distracted, however, when a green landed in his lap. His eyes widened, and he quickly took to feeding her. The brown firelizard was soon scooped up. Yay! He had three new friends. He beamed at Rowan, then at Daimon. "Look, I got two more!"
