What was the point of fighting back anymore? Had everything he'd just gone through, once again, all have been false? Greater powers would always toy with him, and he'd always have his feelings and strengths stretched until they broke.

So why bother cutting these strings? New ones would take their place soon enough. Otto was tired of fighting. Tired of the futile nature of living. All that was going to greet him should he wake were more lies, more work, and certainly more dying friends.

The teen didn't bother fighting back this time.

It wasn't as if she didn't know the story. There were many sins that the redhead could have committed in her not-so-long life but one that never would have been acceptable would have been ignoring Lewis Carroll. It had started with the very basic idea of the Disney production, then several other innocent variations, until the true thing had been placed into her hands at age ten. Her sister had always loved the book in a way that Cami herself could not, too scared of the thought of things that were slithy.

This was no different. Kidana was slilent as she stood before the door and its two guardians, listening to everything that needed saying. A frown pulled at Mixi's lips, distorting her face, as she listened to what they commanded her. "Alice has always been selfish, didn't you learn anything from the story? When an entire world rotates around you as the axis how can you be anything but?" Suffice to say that the blonde heroine had never charmed her much.

So this was a dream? She was not convinced. Everything that had happened to the blue-eyed trainee in such a short time and this was a dream? But the panic that came with usually being in the dark, surrounded by strange figures, was muted. Surprisingly absent and far away as if it had never existed. That could not possibly be a thing that happened to her for she'd wished too hard for such a thing for far too long. It was the most compelling of the evidence thus far.

Sudden doubt was cast on everything that had happened. Was Bix real? Was Kidana? The silence in her mind, even when fingers touched the arrow dangling from a chain around her neck, was absolute. Raising her chin Camixi tried to seem bold. She needed to figure out what was going on. "Very well. I'll spank Alice for you since she's been such a brat. But try to take some responsibility. Things that go bump in the night are not my creation!" But a way out of being afraid of them?

Well, she might have created that.

Stepping through the diminutive figure in blue cowered before her. Camixi had come in thinking that there was nothing that could be offered her that would be tempting but she underestimated the cleverness of a madwoman. Be with her at all times? Again, fingers tugged on the arrow around her neck, wishing for another voice, the voice of reason. Moments ticked by in silence as she stood there, paralyzed by choices that she didn't fully understand.

It wasn't until Cami staggered once, with sleepiness, that she realized something was happening. By then, it was too late to refuse. Not making a choice, was a choice. Hadn't she read that somewhere before? If you didn't exercise your will others would exercise theirs on you! Knees hit the ground, she was only able to murmur four words. "But it's not real."

Uru recalled his sister sleeping beside her, he remembered the soft smell of Fang Snare that wafted the room before the pair of them fell into sleep on the sunken bed of his bedroom. He remembered the soft whimpers Fraustus gave just before he fell into his deep sleep and the whine Aster gave as he tried to get comfortable against the soul crusher. He could recall the comfort of his duvet covering him, sheltering him, the gentle tugs of the moving body beside him. He remembered it all. But this he did not expect; to be standing and spoken to by a figure of violet and gray, figures who speak of dreams and nightmares, of such he had been having as of late, startling him awake in a cold sweat, making him anxious for the morning, yearning for a cup of coffee as a lifeline to his sanity, to let him know that he was okay. He was a hard man on the outside, but his interior was vulnerable to the most blunt of metaphorical knives. This 'her' that they continued to speak of, he had sinking suspicious of who 'she' was and why 'she' wanted to hang onto him. He didn't rely on her, as they said, he was not dependent on her, she was just always there when he was lost. It was coincidence. If they wanted him to put her back to sleep, he believed that to be difficult as the last time he had encountered her was in Wonderland and she made absolutely no efforts in downing him, ripping his anger and hate from him, forcing him to relive memories he had suppressed. It was due time he repaid her in kind.

The door swung open and he felt his hackles rise. He felt restricted and angered well. The voice in his head was enough for him to break free, twisting with claws and teeth at the bonds that tied him, breaking free with a feral roar. No more strings. No more traps! Enough was enough! No more games! He growled as he struggled to pull himself free from his bindings.

Reaching for a book on the shelf of his room, the shelves came around him, smashing him between them, books flying everywhere as he continued to slam against him again and again and again and again and again and again. The book shelf continued to smash down on him, sending books and pages everywhere.

Hanna was asleep. At least, she thought she was asleep. Her dreams took a strange shape that night, offering her a door. Hadn't she dreamt all that other stuff: the blood, the mystery? Now, a scene played out before her, one that offered far more questions than answers. One phrase stuck out to her:

You have to send her back to sleep...

Who? The door opened. A girl was there, a strange shadowed blond thing. Something dropped in the pit of Hanna's stomach. For a moment, she almost fell asleep before a voice snapped her back to reality. What was going on? In all of Hanna's experiences on the island, the only time she had been dreaming was when she first awakened -- all of the Eta business before that had been a fabrication.

So what was this? Was she being put back into the testing phase? Had she been repodded for a THIRD time after all?

A flash of panic ripped through her, and Hanna felt her arms gripping familiar handles: The Lady, her twin hooked blades. But that wasn't the only thing gripping her. Strings, webs, whatever they were -- they were keeping Hanna from moving, and moving was EXACTLY what she wanted to do.

With a guttural hiss, she wiggled her wrists as much as she could, fighting to destroy the bonds that held her.

It had been devilishly hard to concentrate on anything this week. Strange things just kept happening! While he could have sworn he hadn't stepped a foot out of his room, any idle thought was liable to see him whisked away to someplace different. Very different.

And now he was faced with the cause of all this nonsense. Johan definitely wanted to put this puppet to sleep, so he could finally get some sleep himself!

However, he was bound! Cobwebs immobilized his limbs, holding him up like he was a marionette. Struggling, Johan realized he would have to cut through them to free himself. Luckily, he could move his hands just enough to draw some runes.

It wasn't easy to aim in this position, though. His first attempt missed entirely.

WELL. So much for getting back in shape. Hanna let out a pathetic little sound as her blade simply... missed. Entirely. WEBS ALL AROUND. But Hanna missed.

Goddamnit.

Dear god, I hope no one saw you do that, Adelphe hissed.

"NOT HELPING," Hanna shouted.

With another grunt, she tried to swipe free again.

Gritting his teeth, Johan pulled as hard as he could against the strings, trying to get his hand into a better alignment.

The rune flashed and severed one of the clinging strands! Yes!

The demon held on tight, the comforter bunched up around his chest and legs, wrapped over his shoulder and his eyes shut tight, scrunching his face. Soft sobs escaped him but he did not care, he held onto it for all of the life that he had, he held onto the duvet covered blanket, his claws digging, refusing to let go. "You came back." he muttered. "You came back, Dad. W-why have you been gone for so long? You were exiled from Cocytus, but, I'm not there anymore. I've been here. I've been here hoping you would find me. Where did you go?" He felt the warmth of the man cover him, over his shoulder, the warmth of the man's chest against him, his hands digging into his back, claws digging in refusing to let go of his father.

He felt the wolf inside him, the Hël'würgen, clawing at the edges of his rage, digging away at the restraints, biting and gnashing at what confined him. And Uru let him, Uru felt the same, he did not want to be held down, he could not stopped again. He hated it. The shackle on his wrist rustled and clacked with his struggles, his eyes narrowing on it as the reminder of his first time being restrained. He wasn't be punished here. No, he was being tormented. Claws swiped and body pushed and pulled on the strings with sheer strength alone. How dare she mess with that memory.

He had a little more freedom of movement, but now the string supported him less, and he swung from the force of his own movements. It threw off his aim, and the rune missed again!

VICTORY! ...sort of.

Hanna's latest swipe managed to sear through the webs that bound the right side of her body. Her arm bounced free, suddenly back under her control. Unfortunately, she was suspended off of the floor, though not by much, and destroying the other side of her confinements would mean a drop.

Much, much better than being connected in this chilling scenario.

She breathed in and out steadily, squinting to decide how best to break free. Her other arm was hopelessly bound so she gave a good two heave-hos and swung wildly at the webs. Hanna had no idea what the hell was going on -- she had only heard whispers of Wonderland -- but she knew one thing: she would feel much better when she wasn't encumbered.
