I love the idea of this thread. Make us work for our free monies!

---

The most important thing is for me to be always, constantly, perpetually learning. What I learn is entirely open to what I am interested in that day, and it has been anything from how much 8MM film costs to how to say "Where is the bathroom" in Japanese. Just today I learned how to make a lampshade and the proper technique for playing the penny whistle.

We are here on this earth for such a short time, it would be a shame to waste the life we have by failing to ask why or how or what the heck. Questioning things and seeking answers makes us better members of the human race. Building knowledge makes me feel as if I am actively doing something to improve the life I live and the lives of others around me. Sure, I may never speak fluent Japanese or be able to play penny whistle like that guy from The Tossers, but at least I know something more than I did yesterday.

We are in a unique position, us denizens of the Internet, to expand our knowledge beyond the (usually pitiful) collection of books at the public library. I, for one, want to take full advantage of it.

I believe in God a higher power and spirits both good and bad existing but I also believe in some karma and reincarnation everything has its place

God created us to have freewill what we do to make things better or worse in the world is both our choice our reward and our punishment in a way

when we die I think we'll have a choice

I believe god exists, But i refuse to push my religion on someone else, unless they are 110% wanting to become catholic, But we all have our doubts about god, with Noah's Arc, Apparently he gathered 2 animals from each species, Some species you can only get in certain parts of the world. okay, That being said that means theyd have to travel to him from birth in order for them all to be the right "age", Not only that penguins cannot live in Certain weather conditions neither can polar bears. ALSO Lions eat around 2000 pounds of meat. Ummm thats alot of meat dont you think. Not considering the food youll need for everyone else, Lions are predators, they arent just gonna go, OKAY LETS NOT ATTACK MY ENEMYS, WE ALL FRIENDS<3 ..... NO, Plus Noahs Arc was only 300 Cubics long (137.16 m, 450 ft), 50 wide (22.86 m, 75 ft), and 30 high (13.716 m, 45 ft).. Thats not very big at all. The titanc was 882 feet 9 inches (269.1 metres). 175 - the height, in feet, NOT EVEN IT COULD HOLD EVERYTHING THE ALLEGED "NOAHS ARC" Could. But you see its not in the end IF ITS REAL OR NOT? its if you stay true to him he will stay true to you. Youll see one day, and if you dont you dont. he cant make you belive in him. and neither can i.

Knowing myself is most important. All else springs from that.

The most important thing for me, knowledge wise, are numbers. As Isaac Newton once said, the book of nature was written in the language of numbers, and I believe so almost blindly. Mathematics can be applicated in every area of science, be it whatever it is, and it could be applicated with optimal results in every area of life.
For example, human being are "rational" beings, right? But how many of us know exactly what rationality means, and why do we care? Rationality is understood by the characteristic of thinking and acting optimally, "wisely". We can say an agent is rational if it thinks and acts in such a way so as to maximise the convergence between it's beliefs and reality. We can divide rationality into two types: epistematic ( which involves trying to acquire accurate beliefs about the world ) and instrumental ( which involves choosing and acting trying to steer the future into a more favorable outcome, one ranked higher in one's preferences )
Now that this question is answered, we can go back to our previous topic: maths. There is something called Bayesian , which refers to different "methods" in probability and statistic. Now, classic statics convey many different "methods" in which the result may vary depending which method you choose; while Bayesians probability theory is maths and it's results are theorems in which every theorem is consistent with one another. Probability theory is the maths for epistematic rationality while decision theory applies for instrumental.
So why don't we apply this to everyday life and optimise the utility of our actions? This is actually a very easy to answer question: We don;t have, nor can we create, big enough computers to compute all the necessary data. But despite this, Bayesian probability and decision theory are still important because what we know is that violations of Bayesianism, whether unavoidable or not, carry a price. Because someone who doesn't think "rationally" can be made to accept bets that are sure loses and even decline some that are sure winns. This is the power of Bayesianism, and sadly we still have a long way to go in this particular subject.
