Gabriel Byrne Location: The Jet/Hangar Thoughts: Getting unpacked… Gabriel sat in the seat on the jet, working his magic on the keyboard. His schematics were coming to life like a digitized witch’s brew. The pistol strapped to his thigh was a strange comfort even on this enclosed flight. He trusted the people on board, but the pistol gave him a sense of security. Kat poked at him, referring to Narcissa as a bear. Her legs laying across his lap, which strangely didn’t cause him to have a panic attack. Strangely, he was surprisingly comfortable around the Italian. She was… attractive to say the least. And for some strange reason she stuck around him. “I could just shoot the bear then. Even if I missed, not like the plane would depressurize or anything, it’d be slightly uncomfortable if anything.” he said to her. ”I was gonna give her a copy, and Narcissa too. Professional courtesy here. And call her Bella, at the least she deserve the respect to refer to her by name.” The plane began to touch down, he closed up his laptop and began to get his things together. He’d requested that the majority of his things be moved prior, so all he had were the clothes on his back and his laptop bag. Slinging it over at his shoulder, he took one of Kat’s bags. Before she could protest, he looked to her with the warmest face he could. ”I insist.” he stated, his words kind but stern. He wasn’t taking no for an answer. He motioned for the young Italian girl to lead the way, ”I’ll carry your things to your room.”For once he was being the forward one. A rare thing.

Aʆєxaηdra Ӎaʀiʆèηє AgηèȿCodename:Flairer ❃❂❁❀✿✾✽✼✻✺✹✸✷ ✶✵✴❄❅❆❇❈❉❊❋❖❤❥❦❧ ☀ (()) Her cheeks reddened at the blunt answer to her question from more than one person. She dared to let herself glance at Lynette’s chest before quickly looking away. Staring at someone’s breasts would be terribly improper of her! “Oh…” She fanned her face to try and erase the embarrassment etched onto her face. “I guess I am not used to hearing so many…euphuisms for um…that.” Alex couldn’t bring herself to say it, even though Lynette appeared unfazed at the whole situation.
She blinked and chuckled faintly at the idea of moose being penthouse pets. “Maybe, but I would find the sight odd if someone honestly brought a moose into a penthouse.” While she honestly hadn’t been in a penthouse except maybe once or twice, Alex didn’t think that moose were a common sight in such places. Though, her mind became distracted from the thought at Dimitri’s continued commentary. “Dirty…what?” She wasn’t sure she wanted to know. But, she already asked. No take backs now.
“Um….” Alex hadn’t exactly thought of it that way. She figured there were ton of moose simply because there were…a ton of moose. Not that there were many moose because they were secretly Canadian’s version of indoor pets. But, the world could be strange at times. She couldn’t be for sure someone hadn’t taken the notion that moose could be indoor pets. At least, not at some point in time. “You think so?”
Due to her focus on the strange idea of indoor moose, she missed Dimitri’s comment on alcohol. Not that she would have taken much note of it anyway beyond showing how different countries could be when it came to alcohol.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The jet landed soon after the announcement. Luckily, the landing didn’t seem too rough. She didn’t feel herself jolted around or feel queasy afterwards. Also, she was all in one piece. All of those factors were good signs being in the new base might not be so bad. She just hoped it would remain that way.
Once the all clear was given for them to leave the airplane, Alex grabbed her satchel and walked out of the plane after some of the others. She shivered at the drop of temperature in the hanger. There were not joking when they said Canada was cold. She rubbed at her arm a bit with her free hand. Now she felt glad that she did arrange for most of her stuff to be brought here before hand. Otherwise, she would have had to come back more than once into the cold hanger to get her bags.
As she started to move forward, Alex glanced over at Lynette. She noticed what appeared to be small heat waves coming off her. Oh how she wished she had pyrokinesis right about now. But, Alex shrugged that off as she continued to walk, hoping that she wouldn’t get lost on her way to her new room. ❃❂❁❀✿✾✽✼✻✺✹✸✷ ✶✵✴❄❅❆❇❈❉❊❋❖❤❥❦❧ ☀ "We will drink our fill of Alpha Then, of golden sunshine that spills into X-Jet/Alkalai Lake Base Till our brains intertwine with Others on the plane/Nearby Lynette and the others in the hanger"
  Mutation: Geokinesis Alpha Location: New Facility - Alkalai Lake The brunette grinned when Leo nodded in her direction, glad to see that he hadn't completely lost his sense of humor. He didn't stick around too long, however, before following the Alpha leader off to find the animal mimic's room. She gave Bella a small wave as the songstress headed off, turning instead to the rest of her company. Scott excused himself from the group, Blake off-handedly retorting to her "trouble in paradise" comment, though he seemed confident that the desired result would come his way. Whatever that meant. Roland joined them, apologizing for interruptiong, though the apology was met with dismissal by the lot of them. No one really jumped at her veiled command that they find something fun to do while they waited for the rest of their number to arrive, though Roland offered to make them all something to eat. Blake made a joke about how burial had the same effect as dying on people, a sarcastic laugh escaping the girl's lips, hands still perched on her hips. " Hilarious." The redneck's comments about Elixir having a hard time finding them, however, did cause the brunette to crack a genuine smile. " Better give me a reason then," she joked, though there was little time for the conversation to go any further. Leion rushed out of nowhere, tackling Roalnd to the ground and clocking him upside the jaw. " Not exactly what I had in mind, but at least we'll get a show before dinner." An amused smile crossed her lips, the geokinetic making no attempt to interject herself into the fight and break it up. She caught Blake's glance, shoulders rising and falling to indicate that she had just as much idea of what was going on here as the rest of them. It would be a lie to say that she was surprised - the Omegas were always good for some drama. Some better than others - they'd just happened to hit the jackpot. Kerrigan pulled Leion off of her whatever, while Blake worked on restraining Roland. He gave a report to thin air, the brunette having to assume that he was either going crazy or he was filling in their leader. The cowboy then did his best to encourage the boys to solve whatever their beef was with each other in a manner that didn't involve fisticuffs. " Eh, let them knock each other around a little longer - we'll see how Darwinism works in the underground," she joked, though the appearance of the blonde Omega leader brought the amusement of the situation to the end. The tiny solar flare demanded her right hand to restrain Leion before demanding to know what exactly happened to cause their little skirmish, the geokinetic's arms crossing over her chest as one eyebrow raised slightly. She'd like to hear that explanation as well, though the blonde snarled at them to move along. " God, Roland, put it back in your pants," she moaned as the Omega brushed past his "guard," nudged Kerrigan to the side, and extended a blade towards Leion's throat. The behemoth then proceeded to allege that this was not the master of glow sticks that they all knew and loved, her brown eyes rolling heavenward. " I mean, it's not like we've all wanted to clock Roland for one thing or another as some point," she muttered softly, not necessarily trying to keep others from hearing her at this point. Leion burst into tears, clearly embarrassed by his own actions before stating that no one there knew what was going on. She felt a little bad for the guy - clearly he had no idea what was going on. That didn't mean that she was going to step in and try to save him from his leader's wrath. Other Alphas were streaming in at this point, some of the boys taking up the slack of some of the luggage for the ladies. That was admirable. Apparently, more people needed to get laid than she'd realized. " Alright, folks, you heard the lady. Nothing to see here," she called out, placing two fingers in her mouth and releasing a shrill whistle. " If you need help finding your room, Alphas, follow me."
Team: Omegas Location: Jet Thinking: Off to a great start  Kerrigan made her way off the jet with Gracie and Lillian, the redhead smiling warmly when the brunette jinx asked if she was ready to explore their new home. They linked arms, the redhead laughing as her teammate pulled her closer for heat. "It'll be warmer inside," I hope, she tried to reassure the girl. Before she could decide where they wanted to check out first, the sounds foa fight reached their ears, Kerrigan instinctively diverting their path towards the scuffle.
They were met with chaos.
As Kerrigan flung herself onto Leion, doing her best to pry the boy off of her boyfriend with Gracie's help, Blake tried to restrain Roland. The Alpha was quick to assign blame to the apparent victim of the situation, though neither admitted to knowing what had caused the altercation. That was almost more frustrating - they started it, shouldn't they know what they were even fighting about?
The click of heels on tile almost made her flinch, the redhead still struggling with Leion as their blonde leader approached. The absolute fury in her voice did make her cringe, despite the fact that she knew it wasn't directed at her. Roland was clearly embarrassed, the redhead giving him a small smile as he expressed how glad he was to see her. "Can't leave you alone for one minute," she joked, trying to make him feel at least a little bit better. It didn't seem to be working.
This wasn't the kind of drama that they needed upon arrival to their new home. Blake tried his best to diffuse the situation by suggesting that they wanted to avoid whatever detention their leaders could come up with down here, but that seemed to have little to no effect.
"On it," she responded simply as Narcissa ordered her to restrain one of their own, though before she could comply Roland brushed past her and seized the boy himself. A frustrated sigh escaped the redhead as their resident hulk said his peace, alleging that Leion was not the teammate that they remembered while holding a knife to the boy's throat. Tara, in true Tara form, instructed the boy to "put it back in his pants" while Leion seemed genuinely distressed about everything that was happening.
"Come on, you're just going to make it worse," she muttered towards Roland as she approached the two boys, using her hand to gently push the blade away. She knew that he wouldn't hurt her. Her expression was slightly apologetic - dating a teammate was hard, it seemed. Being sympathetic to the person whose back you're supposed to always have, and acting in the best interest of the Omegas apparently wasn't always the same thing. There might very well be something sinister happening, but given his reaction to the situation, he seemed more confused than anything.
"Look, he seems just as confused as the rest of us. Either he deserves an award nomination or there's something else going on here," she suggested, her grip on Leion loose, but consistent as he turned to face the rest of their group again. If he tried to bolt, she'd have him in a split second. Tara tried to divert those disembarking the jet away from the scene. That was likely for the best - this was an Omega matter that should be handled internally.
"What are we going to do here, Ciss?" Green eyes shifted from her detainee to Roland, silently asking if he was alright, before turning to Narcissa, awaiting orders."That's what they'll say to me, say to me, say to me. This one's a fighter."
Name: Leonardo Rossi Team: Alphas Location: New X-Men Base - Hallway New Faces, New Places, New Problems He was almost as on edge here than he was back in DC – for different reasons, of course. In Washington, people wanted to detain and/or kill him. Here, he was avoiding eye contact, trying not to start conversations… it was shame.
Leo had abandoned them, in simple words. They were having this huge move to a new base, with all these moving parts, but he was too busy going off and having his own little soap opera. The worst part was that at the end of the day, it hadn't really made much of a difference. The only positive result of his trip to the nation's capitol was that he had gained some information on the current political situation – and about his friends. That was the whole reason for going, wasn't it? He wanted to make sure his friends were okay. He was trying to cut out that itching feeling at the back of his mind.
He'd gone for himself – for selfish reasons.
The situation between him and Bella was tense – too tense for comfort. Honestly, he hated that there was any tension at all. It was clear that he was the reason for her being so down lately. Or, at least, part of it. Leo had thought that he was a team player – maybe he was a lone wolf kind of guy after all.
Luckily, she was speaking to him. She conveyed her sentiments, which mirrored his own before he had left. That was why he too seemed off – not just because he had spent the last few weeks living off the grid and hardly eating or sleeping. The guilt and shame of leaving the X-Men behind in their time of need ate at him, even while he was out there in the world. When he was in DC, he was able to block it out. Not now, though – it was in his face. Fortunately, many of the others weren't asking the hard questions of where he had been and what he had been doing. He was back – and that was all that mattered at the moment. Bella said that it was hard not being cognizant of his status, but that she was glad to see that it was positive.
"Yeah, I know the feeling," he said. His voice was starting to becoming less of a mumble now - whatever was blocking his throat was beginning to loosen up. Taking in a deep breath, he couldn't bear the silence much longer. "Look–"
He was cut off (or perhaps saved) by one of the newer Alphas (Lynette/actually Charlotte) walking up to them. When she began to speak again, though, Leo's eyebrow rose, but then he understood what was going on. He hadn't been acquainted with too many of the new Alphas, but he had seen that one of them had an identical twin sister. This must be the twin – the one who had been assigned to the Omegas.
Talk about duality.
The redhead was a bit lost, and Leo couldn't blame her. This place was indeed large – he didn't even want to think of how much money it took to renovate. Leo was able to use his instincts (and the map) in order to get this far, but he knew that he would be referring to his comm device much more in the future.
Bella was able to give the girl some direction, as well as some advice on how to use her comm device map. Leo decided to stay quiet – one person to help was enough. Plus, he knew that Bella took comfort in assisting people – it part of her motherly nature.
As luck would have it, even more people (Christian and Charlie) came along, looking for directions as well. It looked like they were delivering luggage to people's rooms – he really hoped that it wasn't just for the two of them. That was a lot of stuff, even for moving nearly everything they had. His theory was confirmed as one of them mentioned delivering.
"I say just dump it all out here and let people find it on their own," he said, the first sarcastic remark he'd made since he'd gotten here. Granted, his gruff demeanor and tone of voice would probably make it hard to determine whether he was serious or not. He was a bit biased – he had everything he needed on him, currently: a large olive-drab duffel bag on his back, and a satchel at his side. He had left some things at the Academy, but he doubted that anyone had picked up his things for him. It was mostly just old clothes and knick-knacks – things that could be replaced.
Just then, Bella's head snapped to the side, listening. He thought he had heard some sort of commotion, but it was faint and he wasn't sure what it was. With Bella's hearing though, Leo knew from experience that he needed to get his guard up if it already hadn't been. He visibly tensed when she asked Blake if everything was alright. They hadn't been here but a few hours, and things were already going wrong? Leo hoped that it was nothing, but his ant strength was queued up just in case. He waited for a cue from Bella, fingers stretching in and out, making fists.
╰☆╮ Name: Katarina Force ╰☆╮ Alias: Kali ╰☆╮ Team: Alpha, Apparently.╰☆╮ Ability: Shape Shifter ╰☆╮ Location: Canada: New Facility ╰☆╮
"Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold." ✬════━━┈┈┈☆┈┈┈━━════✬  Katarina chuckled under her breath when Gabriel brought up “shooting” the bear, the wild animal he was referring to actually being Narcissa. He was a little too innocent and a little too WASP to fire on someone when it ran the risk of hitting a guiltless bystander in an enclosed space. Not to mention that he’d better be a good shot. If he didn’t kill her, she was certain he’d find himself wishing he had. “And they call me a criminal. That’s a little extreme… Don’t you think?”
“Not that I’m complaining… Anything that might liven up this trip is worth a little blood.”, she purred after a moment, leaning back in the seat to get comfortable. She didn’t smile when he chastised her about Isabella, her demeanor seeming to grow a little colder. “She deserves nothing.”
“When she does something worthy of my respect…I’ll consider it.”
As it stood, the former H.Y.D.R.A. agent didn’t see her as anything other than expendable. She was too emotional and fragmented to stand on the front line, let alone to lead them through a fight with giant homicidal robots. She’d turned one of their most valuable weapons into a harmless pup—Instead of the vicious wolf he ought to be.
He wouldn’t even run with her anymore. Gideon had been like a stone statue the entire trip. He was petrifying.
The jet landed with little turbulence, and she sighed in relief. She wanted out of the flying metal can more than anything. Before she could grab her own bags, Gabriel had already picked them up, insisting that he carry her things. Head tilting she rest her hand on her hip, seeming to consider it for a moment—Before she cast him a heart stopping smile. “Have it your way bambola…”
“But you have to carry Aurelie’s too.”
She headed off the jet, pausing only when a teleporter rudely appeared in front of her—Blocking her path. She'd nearly walked right into his back. Eyes narrowing faintly she side stepped the man with the cane, and felt her skin start to move. By the time she stood next to Peyton, she was an exact copy of the blond blow hard. Sliding an arm over the girls shoulder she winked, taking care to check out the woman beside her. It wasn't as if it was a chore, she wasn't hard on on the eyes. “My—We do have a nice a**, don’t we?”
“Perhaps THAT’S why a senior citizen stopped traffic to gallantly offer to carry our things.”, she feigned wide eyes, speaking conspiratorially to Peyton, though by no means quietly. They hadn’t spoken much, considering their differences in teams—But it was common to see Katerina shift from one thing to the next and pull some sort of debacle in the process. “Though I’m curious as to whether or not he can actually handle our baggage…That cane reeks of someone compensating for something.”
“Which is really his loss…”, she trailed off lightly, head tilting in mock empathy. It was an odd conversation, laced with thinly veiled insults. Gabriel and Aurelie would probably be the only ones to understand her annoyance. She hated being on the jet. It was all too close to a cell or a cage. “Two blondes are always more fun than one.”
She turned away from the pair with a spin of a blonde head that rapidly faded to brunette, not bothering to look back as they exited the hangar. Her face seemed to stick for a few moments due to the rapid fire transformation, for a brief moment giving the world a glimpse of what offspring between Peyton and Katerina might look like. (An interesting topic for another time, when one could switch genders at will.) Still, she smiled cheekily throughout, hands neatly linking behind her back while she looked around the large facility. The X-Men really had no issue with spending as much money as they possibly could.
“Let’s find a good room before they’re all taken.”, she announced to Gabriel and Aurelie-- Knowing that she would be sharing space with the telekinetic. It didn’t matter to her if they came with single beds…She’d sleep as an animal of the telekinetic’s choosing if need be. Aurelie was her person, and she didn't trust anyone else.
A little bit of confusion… A little bit of mayhem here and there… And this little hideout might not be so bad. She entered the hall where Roland and a blonde boy she’d not formally met were having a love connection. A kiss with a fist—That somehow ended in the train wreck that was Paladin calling him her name.
Was she the blonde boy? Passing by breezily she waved her hand as she went, not bothering to hold a real conversation. Omega messes were always a little dirtier than Alpha, and her boots were new. “Me? Not today. Tomorrow….Maybe.”
  Luke hung back on the X-Jet to avoid any possible incidents with the other students. Some of them seemed like serious hot heads. The steel hanger that the jet landed in seemed void of any life beyond the sound of chatter from the new arrivals. Some of them looked friendly. Others, not so much. He waited until he couldn’t hear the noise anymore, hoping that he would miss the crowd. He just wasn’t in the mood after such a long flight to deal with more people. The Bonsai tree that he held the whole flight was company enough.
Upon sneaking out of the X-jet he nearly walked right into Scott Summers. A little startled, he paused and blinked widely at the Headmaster.
“Welcome to the new compound, Luke.”, Scott spoke with a smile, holding out his hand for the boy to shake. They’d met a few times before, but he’d always been under another X-Men’s tutelage. Storm had informed him that he was more than capable of moving on to the Alpha’s, especially since their numbers had dwindled.
“Hello Headmaster Face-Cannon.", Luke responded quietly, looking down and away from the Headmaster to avoid eye contact. He saw his outstretched head, but didn’t let go of the Bonsai to take it.
Scott chuckled under his breath, letting his hand fall down after a moment. His lack of eye contact made him wonder if the boy had a mild case of Asberger’s. He wouldn’t have been the first student to have it, and he certainly wouldn’t be the last. “I see you have a nick name for me already… Most just call me Cyclops. You can too, if you’d like.”
“Yes Headmaster Face-Cannon.", the plant manipulator responded distantly, seeming distracted. He waited for a moment in an uncomfortable silence before he walked around the tall man, never looking straight at him. Ms. Munroe had told him all he needed to know. He’d been informed that he’d progressed enough in his training, that he would be reassigned to the Alpha Team. His new leader was Isabella Stone. Scott Summers would be his new mentor.
He liked Storm better.
Scott watched the boy go with a little apprehension, scratching the back of his head. He trusted Ororo’s judgment, but he wasn’t exactly convinced Luke was ready for all the dangers that being on a Junior X-Men team came with. He barely seemed to know where he was, let alone what he was going to be up against. “What would you prefer to be called?”
“Forrest.”
Luke walked as quickly as his feet could take him, scuttling around the brawl that had broken out in the hallway. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with that, especially when he saw a mammoth of a man holding a little guy at sword point. There was a small blonde woman that had hissed for the Alpha’s to get away, and he was not inclined to disobey her. Especially since it seemed like she might have been the Omega leader, which meant he should give her as much space as humanly possible.
He’d heard that guzzling down cyanide was easier and preferable over dealing with her.
The dark skinned mutant went by several groups of people and followed the signs towards a set of stairs that would take him to the dorms. He soon regretted it, not realizing they were the 5th floor down until he was half way there. He entered the correct hallway, music blaring into his ears from his I-Pod. Storm had told him he could choose whatever dorm was available, so after looking around he found a corner room that seemed quiet.
He started to unpack his duffle bag, but then realized he needed to take care of the Bonsai. She became significantly less needy once she was groomed and told how pretty she was. “You know you’re a diva.”, he spoke to it while watering it. Not too much, she didn’t like being soggy.
‘Is that bad?’, a voice questioned in the back of his mind, so soft it was barely there.
“Naw, all ladies are divas. It’s just how you were made.” .
 ❤ Team: ALPHA ❤ Location: New Facility - Alkali Lake ❤
Isabella chuckled while she leaned over the railing, arms resting lightly on the cool polished wood. She wasn’t truly aware of the Headmaster eavesdropping on her one sided conversation, despite his proximity. While some might have been unnerved, Emma had long ago unintentionally desensitized him to feeling offended by being partially ignored. He was mostly glad just to see a little life in the Alpha leader, even if it didn’t last.
The siren’s jade eyes softened immeasurably while she recalled memories that felt like distant dreams and wishful thinking. Playing mutant ball, dancing, singing, and attending Logan’s survival camps seemed so typical—So ordinary. That couldn’t have been her. That wasn’t her life.
Except that it was.
Blake did his best to remind her of better times… But she just couldn’t find her way back. The world was different now. She’d been forced to change with it, and not entirely for the better.
The exchange between Scott and Blake before the Headmaster disappeared almost felt like it used to. There had always been some kind of disconnect between the two men, but the songstress didn’t really understand it. It seemed like one of them was speaking English, and the other was speaking some creepy alien language from outer space—All the while trying to use a Google decoder. Needless to say, there were definitely some things lost in translation.
Familiar faces made themselves known while they spoke in the hall, their small group quickly becoming a herd. There were some that Bella would have wanted to greet a little more personally, but Leo’s appearance stole the air from her lungs. Jade eyes half-heartedly glared at Blake while he mocked her surprise, choosing to ignore his question on what he’d done while a blush crawled up her neck. Oh, he knew.
Isabella couldn’t help but stare at the animal mimic. He was a ghost—Or at least he had been since leaving the Academy. Anxious fingers unwittingly twirled a watch that was several sizes too big around her wrist, a habit she’d developed since Forge had returned it to her. The small woman was selfishly glad that Blake took the time to reassure her, otherwise she might have never moved. Her feet felt like they’d sprung roots that had unmercifully bound her to the floor.
By some miracle she couldn’t explain, her body moved when she needed it to, and she exhaled slowly, trying to find her center. Her crossed arms and tight shoulders betrayed her apprehension, dark hair often hiding her face from view. Bella wanted to reach out and find some sort of common ground, something that would quell the fear and worry that gnawed at the pit of her stomach—But her throat felt tight, almost like she was suffering an allergic reaction. Was it possible to go through anaphylactic shock from the proximity of a person? Considering she’d been around Leo more times than she could count, she ignored her paranoia and chalked it up to anxiety and shame.
Why the fight they’d had struck her in the heart so deeply was beyond her. Perhaps it was because he was one of her best friends and she’d never expected to be at odds with him. Perhaps it had simply been the final strike to already cracked glass.
In retrospect, she couldn’t say her new outlook was completely due to the heated words they’d bandied. It was the actual absence that wounded her.
It was the deeply horrifying lesson he’d unknowingly taught her.
Isabella couldn’t help but respond to him when he opened up a little, breaking the tense stalemate. No matter how she felt, it was against everything she was not to try and accept an olive branch. She desperately wanted to fix what had been broken, she just didn’t know how. Where did they begin? There were too many unanswered questions, too many things she couldn’t take back.
The Alpha leader was one of the few that knew the conditions Leo had left under. It wasn’t as if she’d advertised they’d had a falling out. Several students had gone off on their own after Rochester—Many more had chosen to go home. While his absence was noted, for most, it would hardly be unusual. Not when their way of life had all but crumbled… He started to respond, but anything that might have followed was stopped by the appearance of multiple teammates.
Most people would have been annoyed, but the songstress simply went with the flow, turning on her usual welcoming smile. Helping someone else reminded her to breathe, and relax. Charlotte wouldn’t know, but her interruption was probably the only thing that kept her from bursting into tears. “Aww…You’d have run into her eventually, I’m sure. It’s hard to tell from how big everything is, but the hallways are all circular.”
It drew a small smile to her lips when she recognized the relief that painted itself on the red heads face. It was the same feeling that had washed through her to suddenly realize Leonardo was alive and well. Different degrees, but the same. The shouting took her thoughts away from softer things, small hand raising to her brow bone, half covering her right eye. It was almost as if reducing her sight helped her hear better.
Charlotte commented on how annoying her ability acting up must have been and the songstress chuckled. It would have been a welcome sound, were there not a veil of something dark—almost angry. “I’m not exactly a fan, I can tell you that.”
It would have been impossible to miss Leo tensing beside her, even with her hearing a little off. The familiarity of it made the hair on the back of her neck stand on end. The raven-haired woman placed a gentle hand on his arm— A silent and unthinking reassurance. She bit her lip for a moment, concentrating to carry her words to Blake. She worried for the Texan, but she knew he could handle himself. It could have been considered an insult if she came running for a minor scuffle. “Call me if you need me. If I don’t respond right away, try the comm.”
She let both of her hands fall, bringing her ears and eyes back to the present. “It’s just two Omega’s trying to knock each other into next week.”
“Boys, not girls.”, she reiterated for Charlotte’s benefit, casting her a deliberately bright smile. She excelled at reassuring others, despite the hurricane that raged in her chest. The two new faces that appeared, playing trolley NASCAR under the guise of pushing around luggage, weren’t all that new to her. She’d seen their transfer paperwork. Honestly, she thought either one of them would have made a better Alpha—But she wasn’t the one assigning teams.
The songstress remained silent while Charlotte greeted them, asking where they’d been earlier, dark lashes dusting tanned cheeks while she hid a smile. Leo’s comment about dumping everyone’s things in the hall actually drew a laugh from her. It faded into a grin when Charlotte tossed it back at him, telling him not to discourage the pair.
“Hi…I’m not sure if any of you know who’s who--But I’m Bella…This is Charlotte, and Leo.”, she pointed unnecessarily at the pair with her, before naming both boys, “Christian and…Charlie, right?”
Not really waiting for an answer, she bent down to check the tags on the luggage. Another smile passed her eyes when she recognized a few of the owners. “And if you two are trying to score points with the ladies…You might want to reconsider. The rest of this belongs to a bunch of first year girls in their tweens. I’m pretty sure that even in Canada, they’re off limits.”
“I just dropped them off not long ago. They’re on the third floor down. You can get there by taking these elevators down with Leo and I— Or by taking the scenic route and using the ones on the other side.”, Bella explained lightly, easily falling into the role of a tour guide. It was all part of leading…She was always guiding someone in some fashion or another. Helping with directions felt like her first day of school.
Backing up towards the elevator she pressed the call button and leaned lightly against the wall beside it, waiting for the car. “Pick your poison—Either way has its merits. This elevator will get you mauled by screaming girls that are dying without their Justin Bieber posters at least fifteen minutes sooner.”
Only those that knew her best would realize that she was on auto pilot. Bella smiled, laughed, and played the part of being interested and friendly—But it wasn't as real as she would have liked it to be.
"I'm dying to catch my breath... Why don't I ever learn? I've lost all my trust Though I've surely tried to turn it around. Can you still see the heart of me? All my agony fades away--When you hold me in your embrace." OOC: Let me know if I missed anyone.
Esben Mateus Ness Where: New Base Company: Himself and Beast; Himself and five other students, probably annoyed now Thoughts: Well another sting of prejudice for little old me. What else is new? Damnit Beast, can never win a game of chess against you! The recent weeks for Esben was nothing he hasn't already suffered before. At least many of the other students can walk around town without a 3 foot long red furred tail twitching in the air behind them. Esben's mutations were impossible to hide, and it was this "curse" that got him kicked out of his home and on the streets of California. At the very least, now everyone was in the same boat as him. Rejected like rabid animals, even if they don't already have the qualities of one.
It was because of the lack of a home to return to for a short time that he decided to move into the new base earlier than a majority of the others, including those of his team. A recent addition to Team Alpha, Esben was already having to try to fit in with people he only saw walking down the halls of the academy. Now he has to navigate a new home and cooperate with others. Something he has no experience with considering his past issues.
On the plus side, it allowed him to learn the layout of the place better than most and he had a lot of time to explore the entire base, before they sealed off several of the decks and allowed limited access. And when he was not helping to move things, he was playing chess with the one person that knows what Esben's been through more than most: Hank McCoy. The difference is Esben still looks mostly human, yet has difficulties in keeping control of his more animal instincts. Hank looks like a Beast, yet is as refined of a gentleman as they come. Esben has always respected him because of their similarities, but over the last couple of weeks, he has actually been able to form a more friendly relationship with the older man.
When they weren't setting things up for the arrival of the others, Esben and Hank had daily games of chess. As can be expected, the younger mutant would always lose to the brilliant mind of his senior, and the first couple of days Esben even lost control of himself and flipped the chessboard over before retreating to a secluded corner in the base and throwing anything he had nearby at anyone that came near him, including Hank.
But after some talks with the older mutant, and getting used to the new surroundings, Esben calmed down significantly and further chess games have gone quite smoothly, including the current one they were having. It was a pretty funny sight to any onlookers: Hank McCoy, who looks like a feral beast, was sitting in his chair like a proper gentleman would, while Esben, who's only defining animal feature was his constantly twitching monkey tail, was not. And judging from the current pieces on the board, Hank was once again winning.
"Damn it Hank," Esben finally muttered, hand under his chin as the older mutant just finished his move, taking his last Knight, "You're outmaneuvering me again."
"Well to put it honestly, Esben," Hank answered after folding his arms across his chest, waiting for Esben's move, "You have been improving significantly since we began. You haven't flipped the table halfway through the game or secluded yourself in a high corner, flinging food at others for weeks."
Yeah, true," Esben answered with a smile, "I guess I let the stress of the new surroundings and my feral instincts override any rational thoughts I would have."
"That would be the correct answer to your current conundrum," answered Hank, "You and I are different from other mutants, Esben. While others look human and don't have any obvious mutations that can set them apart and ostracize them."
"We just look like the monsters they portray all mutants to be on the outside," Esben answered. He finally decided on a move and used his tail to move the piece, wrapping the tip of it around the ceramic object and placing it a couple of squares where he wants to go, "The irony is the actions they are taking to "control" us makes them look like the monsters. Yet the public is too blind in their fury to see what they are doing."
"Hmmm, that's a good move Esben. Well done," Hank answered, temporally straying off topic to compliment the younger mutant on a very well executed move, "As for your opinion on the current situation, I respect your insight into the situation we currently face. But mutantkind has survived similar crises before Esben. We will find a way out of this one."
Hank would of made his move, if his watch didn't beep at him. He took a quick glance, then looked back at Esben and added, "We will have to continue this another day Esben. The other students have arrived and I have to be down at the Lab."
"No problem Hank," Esben answered with a smile, showing the more prominent canines that were another sign of his mutation. As Hank walked away, Esben set the table aside, making sure not to disturb any pieces, and headed towards a nearby elevator. The elevator door opened as he stepped in and with his tail, he clicked the button to go up to his dorm room and calmly waited for the elevator to take him to his destination.
Then the idea hit him and he decided to do something silly: his tail started pushing one button, then another button, then another button. The elevator was taking it's sweet time going from floor to floor. Whoever was waiting for the elevator would wait for quite a while, so you can imagine the look on his face when the elevator went to the second floor and the doors opened, to other students who have been waiting for the elevator, all because Wukong decided to have some fun.
His tail was about to press another button when he caught eye of all the other students looking straight at him. A big smile, followed by slight embarrassment made him step away from the control panel and let them come inside, "Well, talk about awkward."
“Hell. No. I’m not gonna get lost on the first day being here. Getting lost is for chumps.” Christian said to Charlie, throwing an unimpressed look to the Arizona native. “I wanna get done with this stuff soon so I can take a look around the place. And the ‘wander around and hope you find something’ method doesn’t seem like the fastest method. We’ve still got another plane full of load to unhaul too.” Christian’s voice could not be laced with any more regret in that moment. Had he known that there would be this much luggage, he would have just found some quiet corner of the base to take a nap in, and wait for his summons. Of course, that’d probably leave Charlie with nothing to do as well, and that didn’t sit well in the werewolf’s stomach. Guess this really was the best decision. Before Christian could take Charlie’s ‘get lost’ solution too seriously, they were met with a reprieve: just around the corner, they ran into a trio waiting by an elevator. Admitting that he was not above getting directions, he pulled the trolley over to them, giving a wave to them and a friendly smile. Charlie added to their cause as well, offering free rides as Christian got himself comfortable on the trolley. The buxom redhead (Charlotte) got their attention with a cleared throat, asking where they were earlier if they were helping luggage, not minding if they helped earlier. “Hanging ten with this cart. Probably not the most efficient way to deliver luggage for the waiting, but perfect for us.” the werewolf explained, pointing his thumb between Charlie and he. The lack of shame to admitting that they were goofing off earlier was remarkably absent from his tone. The sole male of the trio (Leo) offered some sound advice for them: drop the load where it was, and have everyone grab their stuff. With the way he looked, Christian wasn’t sure if he was serious or just kidding. Red defended their honor, guessing that the boys were earning the favor with the ladies; something that Christian wouldn’t deny, despite that not being his original intention. He reeled back and cupped a hand to his mouth, whispering to Charlie. “Probably the only reward we’re gonna get for this, by the way.” he said with a sour tone, noting that his task was given to him (and, by Christian’s insistence, to Charlie as well) more as a rewardless chore. He snapped back when the raven haired beauty (Isabella) came through with introductions, naming the redhead and Mr. Gruff Charlotte and Leo, respectively. She introduced herself as Isabella, whom Christian recalled being told that an Isabella was in charge of the Alphas. She guessed their names correctly, the shifter nodding his head approvingly a giving a double thumbs up to Charlie. “We’re famous.” he said triumphantly to his friend, smug grin on his face. The Alpha leader inspected the luggage in the meantime, deciding to part a piece of dreadful news: the brownie points they’d be earning from girls were literally girls: as in, teenage, minor, definitely-illegal girls. Christian could feel his pride deflate, falling backwards onto the luggage. “Uggggh. Just our luck. Charlie, you’re supposed to be our good luck charm!” he cried out to his friend, unaware that Charlotte also went by ‘Charlie’ as well. Isabella offered them proper directions towards their destination, offering two choices: take the elevator with the trio down to the place and have to deal with preteens being...preteens, or take a longer route, probably sneak in some more goofing around in the process (though, honestly, they’d probably exhausted the amount of goofing they could get away with at this point). He covered his face in his palms, thinking over the matter far too seriously, before peeking through his fingers up to Charlie. “What do you think, Lucky Charms?” he muffled out, giving the final decision to his friend. The sound of the elevator door opening brought his head up slightly, his gaze landing on a simian-looking individual (complete with monkey tail). He seemed to be transfixed on the module, ready to press another button, when he seemed to register the group’s presence, stepping aside for them and giving an awkward smile. Embarrassingly, apparently, from monkey-man’s end… “Least I’m not the only animal on base.” he said simply, offering a short wave to the monkey.
[ New Base ] xxxx[What the what?! ] xxxx[meh] xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Roland seemed to relax at his and Bella's insistence. Whatever fault there was on the delay of switching of teams, it couldn't be placed on the Omega's shoulders. That he should feel that way elicited a tinge of shame; a decent person was to make everyone feel welcome, and he'd failed where Roland was concerned.
As for entertainment while being caged underground, the jolly giant offered to do some danger room sessions, and Blake merely painted a smile on his lips. As a guy with a rather destructive mutation, he appreciated the workout and would rarely turn down the opportunity. He'd been just about to give Tara a smart answer to her command when they were interrupted – the joking far from their minds in a matter of seconds. Out of nowhere, Leion pounced upon Roland, intent on pulverizing him like tomorrow's tenderloins.
With some effort, Blake was able to pull Roland out of the fight, and separated the two, just in time for Kerrigan and a few others to show up. Roland made a soft remark to the girl, and while the molecular manipulator had heard of the man's troubles around the campus, it seemed like he was honestly trying to do better, to do right by the second in command.
He took no time in informing the Alpha leader when she asked what was going on – no doubt able to hear the screams across the base. She asked him to let her know if she was needed, and he murmured an okay for her ears alone. “Enjoy your time with Leo... we'll handle this here.”
The last thing he had expected so early on with the arrival of the teams was a fight to break out. Cerulean eyes remained unmoved by his leader's sneer as she passed him, demanding to know what happened. If her vehement dislike of him hurt him in the slightest, he left no evidence of it in his countenance. Bella had warned him a while back that his being friends with the Alphas would hurt his position on the team – but the cowboy hadn't thought that a team leader would be that petty. Muttering under his breath on the off chance that his favorite soundstress could hear him, he couldn't help but be both annoyed and amused. “I guess I owe you a steak dinner or something,” He said, his lips barely moving so as to keep from raising suspicion. Rather than continue with an explanation, the Texan left it at that; she could ask questions about it later. Right now, Bella needed to focus on her ghost-like friend who'd chosen to come back.
As if oblivious to Narcissa's dislike, Blake lifted his chin in reverence to his leader. If nothing else, he'd be respectful, kill her patience with kindness he'd not receive back. She bellowed out for Roland and Leion to stop with enough force that some might have scooted away; he remained on the offensive, ready to pounce on either of them if they didn't adhere to seemingly everyone's request.
Though he knew he'd be better suited to the Alphas, he stayed in place when the Omega Queen dismissed the Alphas with a threat. Even if neither he nor Cissa wanted him sporting red, Scott had yet to make that change.
Gracie and Tara made a few glib comments toward Roland – neither readily faulting the actual assailant, but rather decided it had to be Roland's fault in a hurry. The guy really had a reputation. He merely focused on keeping the two Omegas from slaughtering each other, making note to tell each of the girls later that he appreciated their jokes in a stressful situation. It was a good quality to have around; it kept people from panicking.
Roland defended himself, trying to explain his side. His guess was a fair one, but Blake said nothing of it – not wanting to believe that their safe haven had been compromised before everyone even got there. Mystique... He fought the shudder that wanted to trill up his spine. She never brought with her presence good news. His mouth set in a frown at this thought, and he eyed his leader carefully, wondering just what she'd think.
Though, the strangest part of the whole thing was when Leion tearfully greeted Narcissa, calling her his sister. While Blake hadn't been on the Omegas all that long, he didn't think he would have missed that relationship entirely. What was this guy on? The lavender eyed man appeared genuinely confused, which only befuddled the Texan more. “Did you just come from another planet instead of New York?” He asked jokingly, silently wondering if they should page Elixir to extract whatever drugs was in Leion's system stat.
Rounding his gaze on his leader, his eyes held within it a question. “Do you need me to find someone to check him out? I'm sure Beast or Elixir would want to see what's going on.” Even if she didn't like him, he would always be a dutiful soldier.
