So the first thing to do was to make friends with the reindeer, right? The frost demon carefully approached the reindeer that was tethered to her assigned slay and waited for him to notice her. The creature eventually noticed her and responded by sniffing at her and snorting, which the ghoul took as a cue to gently pat him on the nose.
It was not a very good idea.
The reindeer's sniffing continued and his nose started to turn very red, unbeknownst to Edel who had boarded the slay. The slay set off well, and was picking up speed until a great sneeze came from the front, sending the slay jerking to the left. There was a moment of panic as the ghoul pulled at the reins to redirect the slay to the right, only for it to be a little too much.. The slay continued its course, jerking left and right sharply as the ghoul struggled to gain control of the sleigh, only for the maiden voyage to end miserably by hitting the sides and dragging it so that the slay was left with a very impressive scratch mark on the side.

When Jove approached him, the wolpertinger at first didn't notice, too fixated on the teachers rack of antlers was he. Eventually, however, he realized he was no longer alone in his little area of the house, and he turned his head just slightly to see who it was out of the corner of his eye. The familiar shade of blue had his lips twitching up and he turned to give Jove a friendly head butt to the shoulder. "Guten tag." He murmured quietly. "Have you ever seen so many large racks in your life...er..death?" He asked his friend with a wondrous glint in his eyes. And then another familiar face approached and Mathias rocked and bounced on his heels with both impatience and excitement. "Not very impressed vith it. My hair is turning vhite." He pointed to his head, where it indeed appeared several strands were beginning to lighten and change, as well as the tips of his ears which now appeared perpetually frosted. "Ack. Looks like it is time to begin." He let his gaze wander back to the teacher and his amazing rack, moving along with the others to join him through the back door and outside.

He followed along with the crowd, passing through a doorway only to be greeted by a vast expanse of field all covered in snow. His ears twitched atop his head and his wings folded around him for warmth as he awaited further instructions, eyes roaming over the slays and the very large creatures that were tethered to each one. R-Rein-deer? That's what the animals with the amazing racks were called?
After being told what to do, Mathias hopped right to it, a bounce in his step as he made his way over to an unoccupied slay, approaching the large animal carefully as it turned it's head towards him, sniffed, and snorted.
Was it...was it snorting at him because his own antlers were too small? Did it find him pathetic? Mathias could feel his short fuse coming alight. He was not pathetic!
"Stupid arrogant creature." He growled, baring his teeth at it. "I vill show you who is pathetic!"
Perhaps not the best thing to say, as he was meant to be making friends with it or some nonsense. Not even bothering to try and be nice, he jumped up into the slay and took up the reins, "Now move, and be quick abou--" He needn't say anymore then that, as the reindeer took off over the snow, instantly cutting sharply to the right and sending Mathias tumbling to one side of the slay itself, body bouncing around and nearly falling out when they hit the side of the course.
"Ach! Nein, nein! Back!" He pulled on one of the reins hard, hoping that it might help somehow, but only served to have him cutting sharply in the other direction.
Back and forth it went like this until they came skidding to a halt at the end. Mathias came stumbling out of his slay looking a little bit sick.
"I do not think my reindeer is knowing vhat he is doing."
Yes. It was totally the reindeer's fault.

Racks? What racks? Jove wasn't sure what Mathias was talking about. Jove wagged his tail as Frost approached, the snow-induced happiness was almost contagious. No, he shook his head, he wasn't cold. It was nice with all the snow around, quite pleasant. It was soft underfoot, and there was no wind to stir it up. Glancing back at the wolpertinger, his ears perked forward at the white starting to appear. How come he hadn't noticed that earlier? And why was he doing that anyway? Jove's own ears never turned white this time of year, did they? He tried not to make it obvious as he snuck a glance upward. But soon he was distracted by the class beginning, and followed Mathias into the bizarre endless room and regarded the scene in front of him. The slay... was like a little carriage, but it made the pup a little antsy anyway. The wolpertinger was the first of them to go, and even though he hit the edge, it didn't look so bad... Jove stepped up afterwards and took his turn on the slay. It sort of went okay at first... a little too far left, a little okay, but just when he was starting to relax into the task, the antlered creature began turning off course. With a jerk, Jove pulled it in the other direction, and began a panicked fishtailing that only just barely avoided the edges. With wide eyes he scrambled right off at the end. Maybe Frost would do better than him? (Left, middle, middle, right, left, right, right, left, left, right XD)

Alecto’s lower lip quivered. “Whywhy?” she questioned in a soft murmur, ears pressed to her head. She brought a hand to her mouth when the boil dragged a desk between them. The ghoul stepped forward, but then stopped suddenly. Get out of here. What a hurtful thing to say. She curled her tail around her legs. “Butbut…” she started. “Friends.” Alecto might have burst into tears, but luckily Mayaa was there to save the day. Lips curled into a tiny smile. “Friendsfriends!”
And then class began.
“Oooh~” Alecto slinked over to her own slay and hopped inside. Giggling, she urged the reindeer to run as quick as possible. Unfortunately, that was a very big mistake. She howled with laughter as she crossed into the sides, but at least she’d made it back in one piece, right?

That same high-pitched, excited voice again. He was becoming used to it now, especially when it called his name. TK twisted his torso and smiled warmly at Mea. “Hello.” Noticing her difficulty in weaving through the crowd, he tried to reach an arm out to her, but she had already disappeared beneath the sea and popped above surface.
He tilted his head at the monster ghoul when she stopped suddenly, losing her pep. “Is something wrong?” But it didn’t seem like she was going to answer, whether because she didn’t want to or didn’t know how. It could have easily been one or the other. The skeleton was still smiling as she raced toward her own slay.
Bird chirps and wild gestures had now caught his attention, and he stared bemusedly at Telma. It must have been her language before transferring to school, but unfortunately TK didn’t understand a lick of it. “No need to apologize, I understand. I also had a difficult time adjusting to a different language when I first arrived here,” he reassured the bird. “I see, but I think it is perfectly fine to express your excitement when you are excitement. What is wrong with being emotional? My name is TK. A pleasure to meet you.” He would have brought out his hand for a handshake, but she too had left for her own slay. Perhaps it was time to actually begin class.
The skeleton slid into his own ride and urged the reindeers to move. The beginning had seemed easy enough. TK had managed to stay relatively in the center, but along the way he winced as the slay rammed into one side. At least he didn’t suffer any other injury on the way back.

The dragon deflated at the blunt answer, her ears and tail drooping.
"Oh..."
Way to ruin her dreams there
Poke soon perked up when they were taken outside and shown the sleighs, as well as the reindeer that would be pulling them. It also seemed that Blitzen's family were to be helping out, literally. She hopped over to one of them, hoisting herself into the seat and picking up the reigns with a glance at the reindeer in front. Maybe one of these ones pulled Sandy's sleigh?
Weather it did or not, when it noticed that a creature with sharp horns, claws and teeth was manning it, the reindeer snorted nervously and began to canter off. "H-hey wait I didn't-" She pulled at it, which only made it worse as it began to slide to the side of the course. "No no this way, this way." She tried pulling the other way. It worked for a moment, before she was pulled to the far side.
It was clear she wasn't very good at this sleigh riding thing.

Mayaa pouted. "But... but we can share, right?" Yes, their very own giant minipet!
Though, it seemed claiming would have to wait. They were going to ride sleighs now! She was a little sad they didn't get to ride in groups (Mellow could pull her and Trisha's sleigh!), but it still seemed like a lot of fun.
Letting go of Mellow's hand, she turned around, beaming at him. "We're gonna go ride slays now! But remember, no running off! We still have lots of fun things to do!"
And then she ran towards one of the slays shrieking gleefully. It was a little tricky, and though she started steady, she veered to the left and right a bit. In the end though, she had a steady run, and she cheered, hopping out of the sleigh to give the reindeer a big hug.
"Yay, I did it! I did it!"

"I guess we can share. Sharing is important in herds." Yep, Mayaa was officially part of Trisha's herd. Mellow was saved, but only because class was starting. "Oh... oh." there was more than a bit of disappointment that she wouldn't get to pull said slay, but Trisha grinned and said hello to the reindeer before climbing aboard. How did these reins things work? she to tell the reindeer to go down the middle but he kept on the left and then swerved all the way to the right as she tried to adjust, her reins got all tangled up in her hands as her reindeer pulled back to the left and then they almost stayed in the middle for a while by a stroke of luck before veering off to the right again. "Next time I just pull..." She got off and patted her reindeer. He was a nice fellow even if he kept running all over the course.

The reaper followed Blitzen through the door, thoroughly impressed by the snowy display beyond it. His face, however, remained little more than quizzical as he hopped onto a sled and picked up the reins.
"Go," he told the deer, staring at a point between its ears. "Whenever you're ready."
Eventually, Bren's reindeer started its long trek down the snow-covered field, weaving erratically before finding its happy place along the left edge of the space. After a bit of wandering, it got back on track, but by then it was too late. Brenley was resigned to the fact that they simply weren't compatible.

Oh jack, Ruth should have seen this coming. All the signs were there, literally right in front of her face. This wasn't going to be a sled where the vehicle was propelled into motion by gravity and one's own body mass. This was the kind of ride that, as their professor explained, needed a relationship. With an animal. Ruth regretted it already.
She spent a good time staring at the dumb beast, not that it could tell given how her eyes were always obscured in shadows, nor would it care about the blonde Halloweener. This was obviously going to be a war of wills, and Ruth intended to do this right. The ghoul wasn't sure how to make nice with the beastie, but seeing as how this was going to be relevant only when JOY was around, she obviously didn't seem to bother trying.
The reaper gripped the reigns tightly when it was her turn, lightly climbing up into the slay, practically leaping actually. She leaned forward and silently commanded the reindeer start moving by stamping her feet and snapping the reigns.
Apparently, when Ruth decided she was going to do this right, she should have decided to do this correctly. Because the reindeer was literally so right, they hit the sides twice. Ah well, it isn't like Ruth was going to keep the slay after her little test drive.

Since she hadn't been engaged in conversation, the time seemed to tick by pretty slowly for Maple and soon her winter boots were almost getting to the point of getting a hole burned in them for how long she had been staring at them. But finally, class found its beginning and the witch found something new to stare at.
Those reindeer were some of the most beautiful creatures she had ever seen. And Maple gravitated to her assigned slay but held off getting into it at first to brush a hesitant hand over the soft fur of its neck (please don't spook). True, it didn't really look like the varieties that her family summoned, but this beast looked so majestic and powerful and just so much that she wasn't. Maple took a page out of Olivia's book and just wanted to keep it. But she probably couldn't, she realized with a pout, and pulled away to get into the slay.
Carefully, she pulled at the reigns and made the beautiful creature go.
Huh, didn't go too badly, only a few missteps here and there of veering too far to one side but Maple seemed to get everything under control... until it listed a little more to one side again. But, surprisingly she didn't end up in the wall...

The class soon began, prompting some of the conversations that she had been observing to come to a halt. That was disappointing but they were at least being lead to something very neat. This was like a carriage ride, Olivia realized when she saw the strange creatures and what they were attached to. She had ridden in a few herself, one for her exam even, but she never got to control one before.
This was going to be exciting. Though, when she approached the reindeer, he didn't seem to have the same mind set. Though, she didn't so much notice because she was lost in the task at hand, and staring at everything. Like the neat leather she was going to be able to hold and stuff. Though, it took her a moment to realize how she was supposed to uh... start. Glancing at her fellow students gave her the idea and with a flick of the reigns, Olivia and her new friend were off.
And not so fantastically, really, the undead directed the poor creature pretty erratically.

Victoria felt secretly embarrassed about his misunderstanding of what a 'slay' was, but it looked pretty fun, even if the animals pulling the slay looked somewhat grumpy... She hovered beside the reindeer, giving it a pat on its side before floating to the slay, and taking a seat. It seemed easy enough - guide the reindeer to the edge of the field, turn around, come back.
Tugging on the reigns, the reindeer started to move, picking up speed as it pulled the slay over the snow. She found that tugging the reigns in a certain direction would cause the reindeer to move in the opposite direction. Using this knowledge, the ghost somehow managed to keep the slay moving largely in a straight line, even if she came close to bumping the sides and the other slays a couple of times.
It was pretty thrilling, actually.
