"I'm honored by your offer, mi'lady," the young man answered, looking genuinely touched, "but surely there are others hoping for you to grace them with your presence?" He nodded toward the man who had taken her seat on the bench next to her dog. He seemed to have a dog, too. How peculiar. "Not that I wouldn't delight in being your companion if you so wished, but I would have imagined that a girl as elegant and winsome as yourself would have preferred the chance to meet and greet a variety of fellows rather than remaining with a single one she just met. The night is young and so are you, after all."
He nodded at her observation and reasoning concerning the dogs. Something about their numbers began to nag at the back of his mind, perhaps triggering some deep subconscious animal instinct regarding the number of predators around. "Yes, indeed it is...but for a festival where people come to enjoy one another's company, it just struck me as a little odd for them to be bringing animal companions. Especially without restraints of any sort. N-not that yours would need any," he added quickly, "but surely not all of them could be as well-behaved as him...?"
It seemed they could and were, though, for he didn't see a single canine tethered to its owner in any fashion whatsoever. Some had a few accessories, but that was all. Still, with the rush of the dance and a beautiful lady as his dancing partner, the gypsy didn't have a mind to dwell on such things for long.
"You're very light on your feet," he commented with a grin. "Ah, yes, there's so much to enjoy at a celebration like this. It's such a wonder when people can get together like this, no matter their status or wealth." Raising his brows, he repeated, "Amriela? An exquisite name for an exquisite girl. I hope you can forgive my lack of manners," he apologized, suddenly remembering he'd forgotten to introduce himself. "I should have said something before. Please, call me Shami."

Tory looked around as everyone paired off to go and dance. Her feet began to tap as she so badly wanted to dance. She loved to dance as much as she could. Once she started it was so hard for her to stop. She looked around and a guy caught her attention. Then his hound did too. That hound was stunning with the Blue color and orangey gold markings. Lasrial looked over and nudged Tory. She looked up at Tory and grinned.
"Why don't you go talk to him? He looked nice and his hound might be nice for me to talk to." Lasrial smirked up at her.
She laughed and thought back. "I think all you see is that handsome hound he has. If you want to go talk to the hound go ahead."
Lasrial sighed and nudged her more. Tory couldn't really not move as the giant found pushed her more. It was hard to stay still when something so big pushed you. As she walked over she sighed down at Lasrial not fighting anymore. She figured it was easier to do as Lasrial wanted. Might even be an enjoyable time for her. She walked over to him as she heard the surprised yowl. She had seen what the guy had done and didn't really think he had hurt the hound. And Lasrial burst out laughing as she stepped closer. She looked at the hound and grinned at him.
Tory smiled at the guy. "Hi there. I'm Tory. What's your name?" She hoped he would talk to her and be nice. It had been a while since she tried to talk to a person. Especially a guy her age and the last first impression she had made had been a very bad one. She prayed this time it was a better first impression.

"Well, it's very nice to meet you Shami" she smiled. His voice was warm, it made her feel comfortable and safe. She examined the hounds, he was right, none of them had any type of restraint on. She knew she would never put any sort of leash on Aku and she couldn't imagine another summoner restraining their companion, to her putting a leash on him was equivalent to putting a harness on a friend. She smiled at his comment, "I'm probably not as young as you think I am." She whispered, "You don't look that old either" she giggled.
"Aku is a good... Dog." She explained "He has never needed any sort of restraints, he does as he's told, he's also very friendly, I've never had any sort of problem with him interacting with other animals or people for that matter." She smiled, whenever she talked about Aku it made her feel better, he was her rock, he kept her grounded and safe, she loved him and it showed when she talked about him. "But I'm sure not all of them are as well-behaved, but the animals out and about tonight seem to be just as behaved as he is." she grinned, she knew of very few hounds that weren't very well-behaved, but she wasn't going to explain that as of right now, not before she knew if he was a summoner or not, it wasn't something worth risking.
She blushed "I guess I have a good leader to follow", she was not a dancer, without Shami as her guide she would have been all over the place, making a fool out of herself. She thought to herself for a second, trying to figure out what to say next, thousands of questions were racing through her head, she was having a hard time trying to figure out which to ask first. "So...Shami" She began, "Where are you from, and what exactly brought you to the festival?" She asked, waiting patiently for his response.

Kasar gave Murphy's hand a lick of affection to let the human know he really wasn't upset. It was hard to make the Hound actually mad, which was good. Mad Hounds were not something anyone wanted to see. Kasar could become jealous or annoyed rather easily, of course, but those were easy enough to fix. Just a bit of an ego stroke and he'd be a happy pup once again.
Movement caught Kasar's eye, and he turned to spot another Hound nudging a young woman towards them, her dress swishing from the movement. Ears perked up and two tails began to wag lightly: they were coming their way! Don't look now, but I think she's coming to talk to you, the Hound said with a canine grin, making Murphy look away for a moment to avoid the blast of dog breath. They might be fantastic beasts, but they still suffered from the same plague of nasty breath that their smaller, domestic cousins were well known for.
He turned in time to find the woman had stopped just a few feet shy of the bench he was on. Clearing his throat and hoping his face wasn't too red from nerves, he returned the greeting. "A pleasure, Tory, I'm Murphy," he said with a little bob of his head. She looked to be of a higher class than he - then again, most of the people here did - so he was careful not to let his normal patterns of speech enter his voice. At least, not right away. "That's a lovely Hound you have," he added, nodding to her large companion. "This is Kasar," he said, reaching out to pet Kasar's side.
Kasar had his glowing eyes half-lidded, surveying the female next to the human. While Hounds in the Abyss didn't generally like having company, Kasar was more than happy to see others of his kind here. Then again, as much as he wanted to get up and say hello, he knew he had to stick by Murphy so he didn't say something stupid.

Chuckling at the comments on their youth, the gypsy shook his head. "I suppose age doesn't really matter, as long as we live our lives to the fullest. Which, I daresay, we're doing right now." In a swift movement, he picked her up by the waist and spun her around in time to the music before gently setting her back down.
"Hmm...I think I'll have to take your word for that," Shami answered in regards to Aku and the other canines, smiling good-naturedly. "I don't know much about keeping animals; not as livestock, companions, or otherwise."
The masked man laughed aloud at her sly compliment. "You flatter me! I appreciate the compliment, but honestly it's one of the very few things I'm good for. And even then, it's not so useful a skill when it comes to what matters, like survival. Ah, what's this?" Pausing a minute at an interval in the music, he reached a hand out to tuck her hair behind her ear, only to withdraw it with something in his grasp.
"For you," he said, holding out the small flowering sprig that he had seemingly plucked from thin air. "Since I found it behind your ear, perhaps that's where it should stay," the slight-of-hand magician offered, tucking the flower so it was secured in her honey-brown hair. "What brought me here? Well besides the free food, festivities, and fine females," he began, amusing himself with his alliteration, "I am an entertainer. Events and places like this are where I'm in my element; where I feel most at home."
"You should see how happy the children are just to watch simple things like a juggling trick." His expression took on a dreamy quality as he pictured said children. "Especially when so many of them have so little to enjoy in their short childhoods. Such hard lives most of them lead. It's not right. Children should be allowed to have fun." His features took on a more determined demeanor. "That's why I use every opportunity I can to put a smile on their faces or earn a laugh from throats parched and tightened from hunger and thirst."

Lasrial chuckled as she saw the hound notice them and let the human know. Tory looked down trying to figure out what her hound found so funny. She walked and felt the way her fabric moved with her. It wasn't the same as when she danced. Then the dress felt amazing and swirled along with her. Lasrial wagged her two tail and watched the guy and his hound as she pushed Tory over to them.
"Go make new friends Tory. You need more friends besides me. Seriously I can't be the only one you trust."
Tory looked at Lasrial and stuck out her tongue hoping the guy didn't notice that. She didn't want him to think she was immature. She stood there a little bit in front of him and smiled. "It's very nice to meet you Murphy." She liked his name. It had a nice sound to it. She bowed her head to him and then met his eyes. "Thank you here name is Lasrial but be careful how much you compliment her. Her ego might get even larger than it is." Lasrial looked up at her.
"Not my fault I'm stunning."
Tory smiled and pet the hound on the head. She looked over at Kasar and grinned. "He is gorgeous. And very handsome. Is it ok if I pet him?" She figured it best to ask first. Lasrial looked over at the hound and wanted to go over and talk to him but she couldn't leave Tory on her own. She worried the girl would do something stupid and she hated moving away from Tory. She was too over protective of her friend.

Amriela looked at her feet, it was hard to believe how naturally her body was flowing, she felt comfortable dancing and talking with him, she loved finding out things about people, and to her, Shami was very interesting. She took in a deep breath, trying to take in his answers to her questions while also trying to figure out a response. She smirked at his comment, she no longer had much youth, that aspect of her life was lost long ago. "I agree Shami," she spoke softly, almost whispering, "Age does not matter, all that matters is what you do with your life, you must do what you can to please yourself, to follow your own dreams and achieve your own goals, you must live your life to the fullest." she explained, almost as if she was trying to convince herself of her words. Her eyes burned with a fiery passion, she meant everything she said and wanted to make sure he knew that.
She shook her head a bit, trying to shake out the emotion that had suddenly come to a boil inside of her. "You aren't an animal person?" She asked out of curiosity. She had never met another person that didn't have a love for some sort of animals or insect for that matter, as far as she knew everyone had some sort of companion like that.
She laughed, "Well, I'm glad I flatter you." she winked. She was enjoying herself and had a feeling her current companion was as well. "Though dancing may not be good for things like survival, it certainly is good for meeting the fine females you were talking about." She giggled. Her cheeks turned red, he was sweet and the flower behind her ear was just the cherry on top. She put her head down, examining their feet again, she was beginning to get embarrassed which was forcing her cheeks to turn redder than before.
"An entertainer?" She questioned. "What kind of entertainer exactly?" she smiled. "You also avoided my last question my dear friend, where are you from?" she winked playfully.
Her eyes became sad as she listened to the description of the children he entertained. She knew that story, she had seen it with her own eyes. She looked down, tears beginning to form in the corner of her eyes. She shook her head once again, her eyes became serious. She looked at him, her glassy eyes met his. "Regardless of their life, regardless of how they live and are treated, at least you bring a smile to their face!" She exclaimed.

Shami was obviously having a merry time with Amriela, pleased she had agreed to dance with him. He hadn't had such good company or conversation in quite a while. "Yes...well-put," he told her, casting her a fond look. "Are you a poet by any chance, Amriela? The words flow more smoothly off your silken tongue than water flows downstream," he marveled aloud.
"Hahaha...well it's not so much that I'm not an animal person as I don't really interact with them often," Shami explained with a sheepish smile. "I can hardly feed myself, let alone another mouth. Still, I like seeing humans and creatures in harmony with one another."
Gasping for air as both laughter and exertion from dancing stole his breath, the gypsy took a minute to regain it before he could reply. "I suppose that goes without saying, seeing as I currently have one for a wonderful dance partner." Chest heaving as his laughter died down, he asked, "Mind if we...stop for a moment? I think I need to...take a break..." With a grin still on his face, he gently offered to lead her to the nearest unoccupied bench.
"As to your question, I'm sorry, I must have missed it," he apologized. "I'm...not really from anywhere in particular. I've been travelling as a vagabond for most of my life and I forgot the name of the town I grew up in. I wasn't very old when I hopped a caravan with a band of fellow gypsies and they taught me most of what I know. Slight-of-hand tricks, acrobatics, juggling...little trifles like that. Nothing big." Tilting his head, Shami asked, "And you, mi'lady? Whence hast fair Lady Amriela come?"
It was then that he noticed the tears at the corner of her eyes, however, and he leaned forward, his expression reading concern. "Amriela? What's the matter?" he wanted to know. "Was it something I said?" He got his answer soon enough. Features softening, he offered her a pained smile in return. "Yes...I do my best." There were so few he knew who concerned themselves with those of lower status and class, but this young lady shed tears for those children; children he understood because he himself had once been one of them. Her gesture touched the gypsy's heart.
"It is good to know there are others who know of their tribulations," he told her, retrieving a colorful scarf from within his cloak to offer her in the case she needed it. "But to see your pretty face marred with sorrow for those souls will not do. Surely I can make it my aim to keep that delicate mouth smiling as well...?" He nodded toward the table laden with food and drink. "Come, why don't we get something to drink? It might make you feel better and you must be exhausted after all that fancy footwork."

Murphy and Kasar both glanced at Lasrial as Tory spoke about her, the Hound and human both able to pick upon the smug look that crossed her face. Ah...Murphy knew how that went. Kasar wagged his tails just a bit, glad that he wasn't the only Hound out there that liked being complimented.
"Kasar is the same," Murphy said as Tory went on to compliment his Hound. Indeed, Kasar stood as he was complimented and fluffed his fur out a bit, lifting his head with a smirk on his lips. "I'm sure he wouldn't mind," he added, even as the Hound moved away from his side to go inspect the other human. Tilting his head as he approached Kasar leaned in to give her face a light sniff before deeming her worthy to touch him. He gave a little nod which didn't need translation and leaned in again, this time offering his head for Tory to pat.
"He...ah...likes to get scratched behind his ears the best," Murphy supplied as he finally stood as well. "Would Lasrial object to petting?" he added, not wanting the other compliment-hungry Hound to get jealous that her Summoner was petting a different Hound.

Tory and Lasrial saw the looks that Murphy and Kasar gave Lasrial. She had a feeling those looks were about the look Lasrial had on her face. Murphy had a look like he knew what a hound with a large ego was like. Looking at Kasar she could understand why. She grinned as he spoke saying his hound was the same. His hound was so pretty and seemed to enjoy being complimented as much as Lasrial did. "That is very good to know." She smiled over at Murphy. Her eyes lit up as he fluffed his fur up and lifted his head to smirk. Yes this hound did know he was a very handsome one. Tory was very happy to hear that Kasar wouldn't mind being pet by her.
She watched Kasar walk over to her. Lasrial puffed up just a bit watching the hound. She didn't like not having Tory's attention but didn't press it. She stayed very close to Tory to make sure the girl was ok and that the hound didn't try anything funny. Tory stood tall as the hound inspected her and leaned in to sniff her face. She smiled as he nodded to her and waited for him to offer his head before she made any moves. When he did offer his head she reached up her hand to pet him.
She looked over at Murphy when he spoke and moved her hand to scratch behind the hound's ears. "Thank you for letting me know that." She continued to pet Kasar and scratch behind his ears. When he stood up she looked at him again. She looked over at Lasrial and gave her a questioning look.
Lasrial nodded her head. "Sure I will let the guy pet me. He seems to be a very nice guy and I would love the attention."
Tory chuckled. "She is fine with you petting her." She gave him a thankful look happy Lasrial wouldn't get jealous now. Lasrial walked close to him and sniffed his face then walked around him in a circle. She offered the guy her head once she deemed him worthy of petting her. Tory just chuckled. "She liked to have her ears scratched too. Though be careful of her flowers."

The woman watches the older gentleman with that small, amused smile, but nods faintly at what might pass as his apology. It's clear he's somewhat uncomfortable, but she doesn't seem impatient or overly perturbed by his behavior. He hadn't actually hurt anyone, after all, even if it had been rude.
"Mnn.." she hums softly, nodding a little at the question. "Daina Delora. You may refer to me as Daina, however. And of course many people are familiar with the old legends and stories. The hounds rising up to defeat the demons with their partners is a well loved fantasy for most children. Yet I'm sure you've heard many different variations throughout your years, no? Some say the hounds are angels from on high that came down to aid the humans, while others say the hounds were the manifestation of the people's fear and pain, created by some magic through their loss to help them. Others say that, indeed, the hounds were summoned by people from another place to aid them and this seems to be the most widely accepted story, though there are variations in the details of this one, too." She smiles a little.
"Perhaps we will never know the full truth. As for my dance, it's one that's been passed down for many generations in my family. I do not know if it is any more, or less, true than the others... and there really is no proof that such a thing was ever real, is there? Yet... well, there is power in tradition. Perhaps it is tradition that lends strength to my faith."
Her keen eyes fix on him, then, and she arches a brow. The expression is a little playful, coupled with her smile, "...So yes... perhaps it was based off of something, after all. Then again, perhaps not."
------- Brienne laughs softly at Avlur's awkward question. She's long since quit being offended by people's curiosity of her condition, realizing that they can't help wanting to know about the things that are 'different' around them.
"I've been blind for as long as I can remember. My parents believe that I was born this way. Or that, at least, my sight was very bad when I was born and eventually deteriorated quite quickly. It's all I've ever known, though. But that's okay. It's only made me more determined to be just as good, or better, at at doing things than those who can see."
She turns with him, following his movements in the dance with little effort, "Besides... it doesn't really require sight to dance. You just have to feel it."

He listen as the girl answered his question he was truly nervous to ask, luckly for him she didn't in fact take it in any ill manner way. He continued to dance as she finished answering his other question about how she had learned to dance.
"Interesting, I'm glad you didn't take any offense in it. You wouldn't happen to know any other events happening tonight besides from the dancer of course." Avlur spoke in a curious tone trying to figure what to talk about next with the young lady.

Kasar's glowing eyes closed as Tory's fingers scratched behind his ears. His tails wagged slowly and low, indicating his complete enjoyment and relaxation. This place was far safer than his 'real' home, full of demons and danger, and having a human pat him was just about the best thing he could ask for. Kasar panted softly and leaned into the touch, flattening his ears in approval.
Murphy held still as Tory's Hound moved over to him, letting her sniff as she pleased. Once she had finished and offered her head to him, he reached up to slowly stroke her soft fur. "They're very nice flowers," he said once he was warned not to touch them.
Very nice indeed. Why don't I have flowers? Kasar asked, his voice humming in Murphy's head. He snorted quietly and, not wanting to appear rude, let the two girls know what the Hound had said.
"He'd like to know why he doesn't have flowers, too," he murmured, scratching Lasrial behind her ear. "I think they'd look rather silly on you, what with your fiery coloring. Perhaps some other trinket would suit you better."

Tory smiled as she watched Kasar's eyes close. She continued to pet and scratch as he seemed to be enjoying it. He was such a cute hound and seemed to enjoy getting attention just as much as Lasrial did. These two hounds were a bit similar and rather cute in their reactions. She smiled at seeing the tail wag slowly. He was an adorable hound and the tail wagging made him even cuter. Lasrial looked at her human petting the other hound. She didn't like seeing that. Tory grinned as she heard the hound pant and press against her hand more. She nodded and pet him even more. Watching his ears flatten she smiled and scratched more.
Lasrial saw the guy hold still as she inspected him. She grinned as he slowly moved his hand to pet her ear. It was sweet how Tory had warned him about her flowers. She didn't like anyone but Tory touching them. She was very over protective of her flowers. She barked happily as the guy said she had very nice flowers. She archer her head so he could pet her ears better.
Tory nodded. "I think so too. Kasar has some lovely markings on him."
She looked over at Murphy and smiled. She had heard that snort and tilted her head. She giggled when she heard what Kasar had told Murphy. Tory shrugged. "I don't know why he doesn't have flowers but I don't think he needs them. He is handsome enough without flowers. I don't think flowers would go with the fiery pattern you have Kasar. The flowers go with Lasrial."
Lasrial chuckled and nodded. She looked over at Tory. "Maybe he would like a comet necklace. It could be all pink and sparkly."
Tory burst out laughing and then blushed. "I'm sorry. Lasrial just said he should have a comet necklace." She grinned and went back to petting the guy more wanting Kasar to still be happy. Lasrial rubbed against the hand petting her more.

The old man dipped his head in acknowledgement of the dancer's introduction. "Very well. It is an honor, Miss Daina," he said. "Not that it would be of much interest to you, but for politeness' sake, I may as well tell you that I go by Vermithirod." Not that he seemed too concerned with politeness either, but Daina seemed to be an exception.
Nodding slowly at the suggestion that he had heard several variations over the years, Vermithirod listened intently to the few she recounted. "Perhaps not... But I do agree that traditions are important, particularly in preserving memories of the past." He waved a hand. "Even if they are...just stories."
When he looked up to meet her gaze again, he was once more taken aback by her unexpected expression. He blinked once before shaking his head to clear it and attempting to recompose himself. "Indeed... Miss Daina," he said after a minute, scratching his bristly beard thoughtfully, "you spoke of faith a moment ago. Does that mean you consider some version of the stories to have actually happened?"Eauo ((Auuugh, sorry this took so long. x_x School has been a pain, and then when I finally did finish this post, my window closed and I lost it all, so then I had to redo it from scratch.
