Ian eyed the partially opened MRE with a suspicious look as they left the cafeteria.

"And what," he asked, as they started down the hallway back to the main dormitories. "are you going to do with that, pray tell? I can think of several possibilities - " He lifted a hand, ticking off things as he went. "A doorstop. Food fight material. Paperweght. Compost..."

Grinning, Ian pushed open the door to the dormitory hallway. "Pretty sure it can also be used as a glue...maybe a grease to stop hinges from creaking..."

They were nearly back to their rooms now. Ian gestured for Shiloh to follow him and then he was unlocking the door to his room, pushing it open exaggeratedly and taking several steps inside, where he flopped onto his bed rather ungracefully.

"Why don't you go grab your stuff and come back over here?" he said, grinning. "We'll have a party, it'll be grand."

Shiloh shrugged, bumping his shoulder gently against Ian's with a laugh. "I figured doorstop too. But I dunno, maybe we can dip the crackers in it or something, so it's not a total waste."

Ian continued with suggestions, however, and Shiloh could only shake his head, smile wide on his face. If nothing else, at least they could laugh about the terrible state of things. And at least Ian had crackers, Shiloh thought, his stomach grumbling in anticipation. Stale crackers beat mystery food, and he was sure what was left of his peanut butter stash would take care of the rest. He sighed, thinking about it, what he wouldn't do for a fresh banana or apple right now, after having been stuck with unidentifiable slop for so long.

He waited for Ian to open his door, and watched as the man let himself fall onto his bed, the squish of the mattress sounding both satisfying and comfortable. Shiloh made mental note to shove him over and claim some of that comfort for himself, but first, as Ian reminded him, peanut butter. He bent over, and set the MRE package at the foot of the door, leaving it slightly open.

"There, perfect," he said with a grin, admiring his work a moment before backing out the door. "Be right back!"

Retrieving the peanut butter didn't take long, the layout of the hallway making travel easy, especially when driven by an empty stomach. Shiloh practically slid back into Ian's room, landing beside him on the bed with a fulfilling thump, holding up his prize.

"Cracker me," he grinned.

Ian made a face at Shiloh as he went through the door, flipping over so that he was lying on his back on the bed. He scooted backwards until his back hit the wall and then he lazily kicked off his shoes, tossing them carelessly to the ground so that he could curl one leg comfortably beneath him. The crackers were tucked in the drawer of the bedside table, and Ian rummaged around for a moment before pulling out a small, slightly crushed package.

He pulled a cracker out and was absently chewing on it when Shiloh came slipping back into the room, a bright smile on his face that was mildly distracting. Ian studied him for a moment, at the cheerful face, the amusement dancing in his eyes, and felt a smirk pull at the corners of his lips.

"As you wish," he said lightly, and leaned closer to him, his shoulder bumping against Shiloh's as he held out a cracker that was slightly broken at one end. A second cracker went back into Ian's mouth, laughter in his eyes.

"Better than that crap in the kitchen by far," he said, with a glance at the peanut butter. "Which is probably pretty sad, come to think of it."

Shiloh accepted the cracker graciously, and resisted the urge to immediately pop it in his mouth in favor of twisting the lid off of the peanut butter. He debated for a minute, about what to do, since the only thing he'd thought to bring from the cafeteria was the useless food package, and not a knife. Then, with a mischievous grin, he dipped his finger into the peanut butter, gathering a big glob of it. He held his finger out to Ian, for his cracker.

"I think we're past the point of worrying about sharing germs, right?" he laughed.

Ian's mouth was full of cracker as he said, with amusement, "You forgot a knife, didn't you? Or a spoon, or a fork, or some other utensil to scoop peanut butter, didn't you."

It wasn't really a question, Ian swallowing and grinning. He shifted a little on the bed, tilting his head back against the wall, and a smirk spread across his lips as he reached out a hand, fingers curling around Shiloh's wrist gently.

"I sure hope so," he said lightly, and drew Shiloh's hand towards him - but instead of using the peanut butter covered finger for his cracker, he took a step farther and promptly slid Shiloh's finger into his mouth, his hair falling forward over his face. After a moment Ian pulled away, licking his lips with a darkly entertained expression on his lips, the taste of peanut butter filling his senses.

"Delicious," he said, as if he had not done something relatively forward.

"No way, everyone knows fingers are better for..."

He trailed off, his wrist held in Ian's grasp, and his finger sucked suddenly into his mouth. Shiloh's breath hitched in his throat, and even though he knew he should have seen this coming, he was caught off guard all the same. His cheeks were as pink as his hair, and all he could do was stare until Ian relinquished his hand, pulling away with his dark bangs falling over his face.

"...Tasting."

Shiloh shook his head in mild disbelief, but his lips were pulled into a smile.

"You're terrible," he teased once he'd recovered, scooping his cracker into the peanut butter before popping it into his mouth. It wasn't nearly as exciting, he thought as he chewed, eyeing Ian thoughtfully as he passed him the peanut butter jar. Then he eyed the door, and he scooted off the bed, kicking the MRE doorstop out of the way so he could close the door. The grin he gave Ian as he settled back onto the bed was totally innocent. Totally.

Ian, for his part, immensely enjoyed the deep pink flush that covered Shiloh's cheeks. He slid his fingers along the inside of Shiloh's wrist, grinning that same grin. "I don't know," he said lightly. "I'm pretty sure I didn't mind that taste so much."

He wasn't sure what Shiloh had thought, but the other was smiling, and Ian accepted the peanut butter jar with a grin. "I am indeed," he said, and his eyes followed Shiloh as the other moved away, kicking the door shut and then moving back to the bed.

Ian arched an eyebrow, but said nothing. Instead, he reached a finger of his own into the jar, scooped up a finger full of peanut butter, and brought it to his own mouth, idly sucking on it before saying, "Sorry if I made you uncomfortable in the cafeteria earlier. You know I wouldn't do anything to out you."

He slid a hand into the peanut butter again and drew it out slowly, extending his now peanut butter covered index finger towards Shiloh, eyebrows still raised in the same sort of innocent way that Shiloh had been smiling.

"Of course you didn't mind it," Shiloh shook his head again, laughing softly as he sat down. "Who minds peanut butter, ever?"

The bed squished gently beneath his weight as he settled in next to Ian, leaning his shoulder against him and reaching over to snag another cracker, crunching it into his mouth with a grin. The grin wavered slightly as he watch Ian scoop more peanut butter onto his finger, the man bringing it to his lips and sucking on it. It made it a bit difficult for Shiloh to concentrate on what he was saying.

"I know," he nodded, when his brain started functioning properly again. "It's okay, really."

At least, it was okay, until Ian's next scoop of peanut butter was held out to him, on his finger, and clearly not destined for a cracker. For a moment, Shiloh met Ian's eyes, before glancing quickly to make sure that he had completely closed the door. Then, curling his fingers around Ian's wrist to steady it like Ian had done for his, he wrapped his mouth over Ian's finger, licking it clean of peanut butter.

Ian was right, it was pretty tasty.

"Peanut butter," said Ian seriously. "is a food of the gods. You can't beat it, and you can't get rid of it, because if anyone tries to, I guarantee there'll be a revolt and the peasants will run rampant because you can't take away our one good thing in life."

He slanted a look sideways towards Shiloh, his hand still outstretched, and for a moment Ian wasn't sure if he would take the bait or not. But then, after only a moment's hesitation (Ian didn't miss the glance to the very locked door), his plan was a success, and Ian's gaze dropped slightly, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. Reaching out his hand, he wrapped it around Shiloh's neck and pulled hm closer, pressing a firm kiss to his lips, tasting peanut butter.

When he pulled away, he was grinning.

"See?" he said lightly. "Delicious."

Ian swapped his finger for his lips, and Shiloh's complaints were minimal, only wishing that the peanut butter wasn't sticking to the roof of his mouth so much. His kissing skills were stunted as it were, he certainly didn't need further hindrance when locked lips with the guy he was trying to impress. Or rather, the guy who'd impressed him, as Shiloh hadn't done much impressing, instead living up to Ian's nickname for him. He had never thought of himself as shy, but then, this was uncharted territory still.

He was getting better though, and lingered against Ian as he pulled away. Shiloh licked his lips, the taste of peanut butter and Ian mixing altogether, and he leaned over Ian, reaching for another cracker.

"Delicious," he agreed, pulling a cracker from the packet.

Then his stomach grumbled. Shiloh wasn't aware of the definition of mood killer.

He didn't particularly mind Shiloh's lack of experience, mostly because Ian was the type to take the lead anyway when it came to physical affection. He'd always been the one to initiate contact first, to be the one to reach out first, to lean in and start the kisses he enjoyed so much. Shiloh was, however, different in the sense that Ian needed to reel himself back because scaring him off or pressuring him into too much was not on Ian's list of things to do.

He did, however, like the fact that Shiloh had stayed close just a fraction longer than he would have normally. Ian smiled, his eyes flickering briefly to Shiloh's lips, and then back up to his eyes.

A shout of laughter escaped his throat. "Jeez, this isn't much of a dinner, is it?" he said with a laugh, and slid his free arm around Shiloh's waist, ducking his head and very childishly rubbing the top of it against Shiloh's grumbling stomach like an overexcited puppy. He was probably getting cracker crumbs everywhere, including all over his bed and in his hair, but that was beside the point. "Sorry, duck, one day we'll have something better than all of this. I'll figure out a way to impress you yet."

"It beats the brick," Shiloh laughed, staring down at the man currently attached to his waist. Cracker crumbs did go flying, but if Ian didn't mind, neither did Shiloh, happy to stuff another cracker into his mouth. He looked around for where the peanut butter had gone, realizing that he had yet to combine the two, which had been the whole purpose of bringing it over. Not that he had minded the new combinations he'd tried, of course, but as Ian nuzzled against his stomach, it gurgled, demanding more crackers.

"You could impress me now, you know, if you tell me where you're hiding the peanut butter," he teased him.

Ian ignored the grumbling (which was very cute, actually) and proceeded to nuzzle his face more into Shiloh's stomach rather like an overgrown cat. "Not hiding nothing," he said dismissively, his voice muffled, and he dug his fingers into Shiloh's sides purposefully, trying to tickle him. He was acting rather like a ridiculous child, but that was beside the point. It was just him and Shiloh, after all, and there was no one here to stare except the person he wanted to stare.

"If you want it, you're gonna have to fight me," he said, trying very hard not to laugh but failing miserably.

Shiloh wrinkled his nose, trying to hold his laughter as bay as long as he could but Ian's fingers were relentless, skirting over his sides and tickling him. He finally let it out, a short bark at first, followed by embarrassing giggles, but Ian's playful attitude was catching, and no matter what Ian said about himself, for Shiloh, he was one of the nicest, albeit also one of the silliest, people Shiloh had met on Deus. He couldn't help but fall for him.

He squirmed against Ian's hands, moving suddenly to sit over Ian, trying to push him back onto the bed and gain the upper hand, but it was hard when all he could do was laugh.

"Fight fair," he said between snorts of laughter, his eyes dancing as he met Ian's gaze. It was nice to be able to let his guard down, and relax, not caring what anyone thought except for one person, who clearly cared for him.

"Unhand my peanut butter!"

How long had it been since he had just done something goofy and silly like this? He was a careless, lighthearted person normally, but this was entirely letting himself go, allowing himself to drop some of that facade and just be ridiculous, goof off as much as he wanted.

Ian gave a shout of laughter, falling backwards as Shiloh moved over him, his hands flailing as he attempted to keep a hold on him. "This is totally fighting fair!" he cried, snorting, and fell back against the pillows, hands grappling with Shiloh's. "Nope," he said, grinning. "Nope, you can't make me - "

He rolled sideways, on top of Shiloh, trying to push him down, but then he tilted inadvertently too far sideways - and the bed was not big enough for too many rolls, because in the next second Ian experienced the split-second sensation of falling before they landed in a crash on the floor, dragging half of the sheets and blankets and a pillow with them.

Fortunately, it wasn't that far to fall, which meant that Ian's head hitting the ground didn't really hurt. He gave a startled sort of grunt, his legs tangled both in the sheets and with Shiloh's, and he stared up at the other with a look of surprise. One hand was still wrapped around Shiloh's wrist, the other at his waist, and Shiloh had still somehow come out on top.

The peanut butter was on the ground beside them, rolling away innocently under the bed.

Ian burst into laughter.
