Dementia Requiem Asumi

"Oh... right..." Back to the harsh realities for Dysmas, he didn't sound as panicked as she did, more melancholy about it. If worse came to worse they could just sleep outside, that wouldn't be completely horrible. Unless there was the storm... Dysmas looked at the sky briefly... but what were the chances of that? "Okay... calm down... we should be okay. We'll find shelter. There are plenty of trees and... things." Dysmas tried to comfort her and share his less panicked views with her. She really didn't seem to be taking it well. "Lets head back up to the coconut spot... I'm going to grab something real quick though." Dysmas took off to go get the crown and bottle that he had left on the beach earlier.

Sweetie took a deep breath, in through the nose, out through the mouth. Why was she so jumpy today? The faun couldn't figure it out. Wasn't like she was used to being stranded on some random isle in the middle of the sea. She closed her eyes, trying to make her mind accept the very logical things he was saying.

"Are you sure?" She asked, making herself calm down. He was right, she knew it. Even if her emotions were higher strung than what she liked. Oh, he had something else to pick up? Complete derailment. Sweetie blinked, watching him leave. Okay then. She wondered what it was he'd left on the beach.

"See you soon?" She commented, eyes lingering on him after he'd disappeared from her sight. It was weird, but it wasn't like she was going to panic being left by herself. Especially when he was trying to keep her calm.

It didn't take long for Dysmas to return, they had stayed in relatively the same section of the island and hadn't seen more beyond a pie-shaped slice. He was carrying the bottle in one hand and the crown in the other, ready to bring them up to wherever they decided to settle down for the night. The crown was the most valuable thing in the world to him right now, and Dysmas wanted to protect it to share it with the queen. The bottle on the other hand... Dysmas wasn't really sure about the liquid inside, but if it was drinkable than they probably would need it later.

"Alright, lets head up." The water angel had tried his best to give some sort of hope to Sweetie about being safe while they slept, so hopefully he would be able to fulfill that. As they started heading back towards the jungle, Dysmas started thinking about what he might be able to do with what they had to provide her that feeling and make the rest of her worries go away.

Sweetie nodded, trying not to let the burning curiosity eat at her. He'd brought back something shiny and a bottle. Both were interesting, but she was more curious about the crown than anything. She was considerably calmer than when he had left her. Considering that it hadn't taken him that horribly long to leave and come back, she was impressed with herself.

"I wonder how big this place is..." She murmured, thinking aloud. There seemed to be so much more of the isle than she could see, but it couldn't have been that big. Could it? The faun couldn't be sure, and she didn't want to assume anything about it. For all she knew, there were a ton of night time pae eating monsters living on the isle. If there were they probably already knew that Dysmas and here were on the island and were just waiting for the night to finish falling before coming out and eating them.

She shuddered, speeding up to catch up to Dysmas. He might have been a stranger, but he at least didn't seem like a scary one. How bad could he be if he'd helped her out after she woke up?

Dysmas raised his eyebrows at Sweetie as she began wondering out loud. It hadn't been a question, or even directed at him, but he answered anyways, "I'm not sure, I feel like we've barely scratched the surface... but it is a lot smaller than home I am sure." The fact that Dysmas felt like the island was not small worried him. What were the chances that this place was completely uninhabited? It didn't look good to him.

Once the sun began to set, it seemed like it was getting dark quickly. "I guess I can find some big leaves... and attach them... somehow... to trees. And then it will be like a little hut?" Dysmas suggested.

She frowned a bit at his answer. "That's not good... Or maybe it is and we don't know it yet?" Sweetie sighed, trying not to let this get to her. There was already enough on both their plates without her being an emotional roller coaster constantly about everything. She was bad enough to start with.

"Do you think we'll have time for that tonight?" She asked, looking over to him. The faun was pretty certain they'd be lucky to make it back to where they wanted to camp before the sun was down and the moon and stars were the only things in the sky. Briefly, she wondered what phase the moon was in.

"I am not sure. We can see how far we can get, I guess." Dysmas couldn't be certain how long it would take, he needed to find the things he needed to make it, and then who knew how long assembly would take. He felt like he should have all the answers, but he just didn't, he didn't even know the best way to go about building this thing.

"It'll take a lot longer if we stay together." Dysmas admitted. If they split up they could probably find the things they needed quicker, but he was certain Sweetie wouldn't go for that.

Sweetie thought about it for a moment, deciding to put off exploring until tomorrow. When the sun was up. Or until after they had something to sleep under while they were on the isle. The faun didn't want to sound whiny about it, that just wouldn't do.

"If we stay in the nearby area we should be able to find our way back, but... Do you really think we'll have time for it tonight?" She asked, looking up at him. If they both weren't so bright, she felt like she'd have lost him in the rapidly increasing darkness. Thank Celestia that at least she was light enough to be reflective in the dark. "If you think we have time, I'm all for searching tonight?" She offered, knowing how much she didn't want to split up. Sweetie Drops really really didn't want to be left alone right now, but if they were going to survive out here, she was going to have to get over it. Right?

Glancing over at Sweetie's face, her soft features, Dysmas nodded his head slowly. What he had suggested was a big deal, separating, especially when it was getting dark. It probably wasn't his brightest idea, and was a lot to ask of Sweetie since she wouldn't want to separate in the first place. "No... you're right. We shouldn't start on this now." That meant a night without shelter, but surely one night wouldn't be that bad, at least they would stay under the trees. "Alright, lets get up to the spot we were at before and call it a night."

Sweetie would have been the first to admit that she was ecstatic at the thought of not having to split up during the night. She had to bite back a squeak of happiness when he agreed that they wouldn't be going out in search of shelter or things to build shelter tonight. First thing in the morning, that would be okay. Or well, after they had a coconut and gotten a little in their bellies.

"That sounds like a good idea." The faun smiled some, keeping her eyes forward. If she wasn't looking forward, her eyes were on her feet. She did not want to fall on her face, there was already enough sand in her gut. But that raised the question of sleeping. Sweetie blushed, instantly thinking they'd be snuggled into one another through the night. But that would be really weird. They just met that morning, just barely knew each other. Sleeping snuggled up would just make things really really awkward. She suppressed a shudder at the thought of how strange it would make the morning.

Sweetie Drops opened her mouth to start saying something, only to wind up looking a bit like a fish. Open and close, open and close. No sound. She would wait until he said something about it. She was just getting carried away, that had to be what it was. Sweetie grinned a little to herself, realizing her mind had been all over the place today.

Dysmas' thoughts went to how cold it was going to be. The beach got cold at night, even if they had been able to make shelter it would still be a problem. Could they make a fire? Dysmas wasn't sure he could without a firestarter. What other options were there though? "The sand should be able to help keep us warm," Dysmas thought out loud. Or at least it would for a little while until the night made it cold. "Maybe use some leaves for cover..." That would make an appropriate shield from the breeze. It would have been nicer to have some fur blankets, but Dysmas didn't want to think of how they would manage to get a hold of that.

As they got to the place, Dysmas set his things down next to the shower head and remnants of their coconut. He then quickly begin scavenging for the largest leaves in their immediate area. No more exploring tonight.

Sweetie followed Dysmas in silence, wondering a great deal for the night. Mostly, she was reflecting on the events of the day. At least one good thing had come of it, she'd made a friend.

The faun searched around for several leaves, still following Dysmas' lead. He knew more about living on the beach than she did. She was willing to bet he'd be better at making sure they stayed alive than she was too.

After a few minutes of searching, Sweetie managed to find a few rather large leaves. Perhaps they weren't the biggest in the area, but they were enough to cover some space. "I've got... Four leaves?" The female offered, holding them by their stems. She didn't want to hold them by the connective tissues, it would break the leaves apart if she did that. A holey roof was not a good thing no matter what the roof was over.

Dysmas smiled and held up the three leaves he had found. It was good enough for one night he supposed. He dug a large circle, shallow in depth in the sand and then laid down. There was plenty of room in the circle that they could both lay in it without having to touch or be squished together. Then it got awkward. "Alright...well, I guess this is goodnight then," he said as he sat up and covered his lower half with leaves and then pulled the last leaf over his shoulders as he lowered his torso to the ground. It was going to be a very cold night, but they weren't going to get sick, probably just no get a lot of sleep.

Sweetie yawned, stretching some. He hadn't given her much room to help if she'd been able, but she was more than content to stop and watch him. He was doing everything so wonderfully, it was like he had done this kind of thing before.

"Sleep tight?" She smiled fairly certain that it was going to be a long night. The faun set down the pretty shell he'd found for her, right near her head. Far enough away to not roll onto it, but still close enough to reach out and touch it. With that accomplished, she followed his lead with the leaves, covering her lower legs and her torso. It wasn't the warmest, but it was most certainly something. Surely the leaves were better than nothing.

(Not sure where to take it from here aside from waking up. Conferring with Wolf ASAP <3 )

He had smiled and nodded at her comment about sleeping tight, but Dysmas did not sleep tight that night. It was cold and uncomfortable, and despite his simple life on the lake beach with his mom and brother, this was not even close. He woke up shivering several times, really wishing he had at least attempted to start a fire, but he was too sleepy now. Dysmas usually rose with the sun, but when the warmth of dawn approached he remained sleeping, much more restfully this time.
