Oh, would you look at that? She was actually cooperating. At least that was his hope as she fired off her question. It would have been too weird if she hadn’t kept at least a bit of that attitude. Kallan just rolled his eyes as he fought to get the door in place, “First this stupid door. Which like most of this place needs replaced.” He frowned as he tapped his fingers roughly against the wood. It definitely had seen better years. Glancing from the corner of his gaze the cervitaur sighed. Just how long had she been living here exactly?

“And please tell me you have some form of tools here.” If not he would do a temporary fix until he got his own so that wildlife wouldn’t find her home a happy place to ransack. He clicked his tongue against his teeth; it really was going to be a pain. “If not then we’ll wait this out and like it or not you’ll get to spend some more time with me.” He grinned sharply towards her, “I know you’re so very excited.” Kallan really was regretting that vow he had taken a long time ago now. Help others who needed him. Psh. This one could find a way to ruin an iron fortress! Or drive everyone inside insane from all the heckling she could give him. It would make life interesting though...and she could be pretty like a wild spirit....and no. He was so not thinking that right now. Kallan gritted his teeth and focused on wedging the door back into place.

Oh yes, this would be so much fun.

"My door ain't stupid." Sakina grumped, crossing her arms. "Anyone would pass out at the sight o' yur mug." Yes! That would make up for the slip earlier. She hadn't implied that he was good-looking! Nope!

"Of course I got tools here." She growled, squeezing around the door to get inside. Where had her father kept those things...? She rummaged around a bit, pushing her hair back as drops fell on her through the roof. Ah-ha! She yanked up an old, dirty bag and carried it back to the door. "Here." Sticking the bag out, she dropped it unceremoniously at the male's hooves, exposing old, stiff, broken, rusted tools. Her father had taken care of those tools. Sakina... not so much.

Kallan just shook his head lightly at her grumps, “I’m sorry. You’re a bloody brilliant door indeed,” He scoffed before looking away from her with a smirk as he wedged the door in better, “Thank you. I know it’s too amazing for most to handle. Just don’t swoon on me. That would be a problem.” A chuckle rose up, but was silenced once it got to his lips and instead a small curse came out as he fought more with the door. This whole building was in need of a good torchin’. Forget trying to save it.

“I’m impressed that you do.” He replied honestly before his gaze dropped on the mess which she dropped at the door, “About the meaning of tools….” The cervitaur trailed off which an eyebrow raised towards her, “They aren’t good unless they can be used!” He sighed before reaching down to grab a hammer that despite being rusted could still be used to get that hinge back into place. Sticking some nails in his teeth the cervitaur began to work on a quick fix. He could not wait until this stupid rain was over and he could get to his own home which was dependable and not in the middle of a deathtrap.

Lip curling into a silent sneer, she just stood out of the way and let the male work on her door. She had been meaning to fix it for quite a while... Eh. Free labor. What could be better?

"They work just fine. Gotta learn ta do with whatchya got." She stood behind the male as she watched the door get hammered into place, overseeing his work to make sure it was being done well enough. Her arms crossed as she hugged an old fur hide from inside around herself, with the fur facing inward toward her while the skin on the outside kept her dry. This guy better not get sick from standing in the rain and then get her sick...

“Ha. Isn’t that just an excuse to be lazy about taking care of your equipment?” Kallan slammed the hammer into the door one last time before just letting the tool drop to the floor. He regretted it a second later with the afterthought of causing holes in her flooring. But thankfully it hit and just rolled with a crash. Running a hand through his hair the cervitaur frowned when he realized his hair was soaking wet from the rainfall that had gotten him while standing in her doorway.

Looking back at her he just shook his head in amusement, “You should just live in a cave really. I could see it now.” But he instead turned and just looked outside of a window to watch the storm pouring out around them. At this rate he was just half tempted to face the storm rather than the one in here. He peered at her from the corner of his eye. She was definitely trouble, but trouble he would have to at least be civil to. Even if that meant helping her with this place….Kallan sighed.

“So do you just torment guests or am I actually to expect something since we’re trapped in this hole by the storm?”

Sakina huffed loudly. "I ain't lazy. Papa didn't teach me how ta clean them things. ..Figured he'd be 'round forever..." Her eyes drifted around the shack, distant memories rising and drifting around the place. Bristling slightly, she snorted with irritation. "As long as you ain't in the cave with me, I'd be just fine."

She gave the male a blank stare after his final comment. ...Guest? What was she supposed to do with a guest. "Ya don't like the hole, then git on outside, ya pansy." She turned and stomped over to her bed; a few layers of furs stacked on the floor. "You're so fond o' your own self, I'm sure ya won't have trouble keepin' yourself entertained if you insistin' on stayin'. Some grub in them pantries if yer hungry. Jus' don't empty the food inta tha' big head of yours!" Flopping down onto the furs, she huffed and pulled her top fur over her head. Maybe he'd be gone by the time she woke up... But how could she sleep with some grouchy he-man in her home?!?!

“Oh.” Kallan actually was at lost for words with her statement. But a bitter feeling welled up in him before he gave into the idea of comfort, “Well that is what you need to learn. Nothing lasts forever…especially others. Never take anythin’ for granted in this cruel place. That’s just a sign of weakness.” He crossed his arms before quietly adding, “I can teach you then.” He snorted about her comment in the cave, “Of course I would never bother you there. Hopefully the rest of the world could survive too as long as they stayed away from that entrance.”

Pansy? She was calling him a pansy after everything they had just wrestled with? Each other at least? Kallan stomped lightly on the ground in frustration. Stupid female always trying to ruffle him up. “Unlike others I just happen to try to keep myself alive.” He retorted before lifting an eyebrow about entertaining himself and then the offer of food. “Don’t worry. I’m sure there won’t be much I would want to touch. Just go ahead and do whatever it is you do.” Sleep whatever. Like he could sleep with her here! Pacing about the cervitaur studied his surroundings before giving into the pains of his stomach. Maybe he should see what she had…probably eats her meat raw. The thought sent a shudder down his spine. “Probably would be the first time this kitchen has ever been used…” Muttering to himself he headed towards the pantry to shuffle through what was there.

Sakina pressed her face into the furs, inhaling the old, comforting sent of her family. Nothing lasts forever... That was certainly true.

..Well, hopefully this visit wouldn't prove his words right! Hopefully, the visit would end well before forever!

In the pantries... the buck's intuition was right. There wasn't much, but it wasn't all bad, and there was no raw meat. There was a bowl of fresh apples and pears, a short stack of dried pork, half a cooked rabbit, and a bag of mushrooms she'd found on her walks. However, there was a jar tucked in the far back of the top shelf that looked like it'd been there since before her parents had been born, with a few dead bugs on and around it. ....Was something moving in there?

Another shelf held a bowl of cookies carefully wrapped in a bag. Also, a few slices left from a loaf of bread, and a nearly full container of seasoning salts. Clearly, she ventured to town only once in a great while.

Oh by the spirits. Kallan had to bit the inside of his jaw to keep his mouth closed. Normally he would have the urge to throw a comment, usually an insult, towards the female cervitaur but he held back. She did seem to want to try sleeping after all. His gaze softened for a short second before he glanced away to dig through the cabinets again. Did she ever take care of anything? Like a small child really…reaching up he braved the back of the pantry. Wincing at the touch of the dead bugs he had to keep himself from stomping on the ground. Such a weird feeling!

Opening the door quietly he tossed a good deal of odd things out into the grass where the rain washed them from view. Thank goodness. Kallan made a face at the female before heading back to just pick up a pear which he bit into. “I’m not housekeeper thank you very much.” He whispered sharply before walking over and propping himself up against a window where he watched the rain and leaning ended up drifting off a bit. It wouldn’t be until the daylight of the next day that the rains would finally take a break.

Sleeping only in short bursts, Sakina greeted the morning light with a grumble and rolled over. She sighed contently and snuggled back under the covers... Until her eyes popped wide open. There was someone sleeping in her house!!

Grabbing the knife she kept tucked under the furs, she leapt to her feet and- ..oh. Right. Lord Hero over there. Huffing, she walked up to him and stomped on the floor. "Rise 'n' shine, ol' boy! Giddyup!" she hollered in a voice as loud and cheerful as could be.

Kallan squinted at the rays of sunlight which crept into the house. Moving his neck he listened to it pop with a frown. Why wasn’t he in bed? Where the hell was he even? Still not moving his eyes flickered closed until a noise startled him back awake. Oh, yes. The reminder was right there. Glaring at the female he pushed himself up from his sleeping position, “I’m not some mule to yell at.” He groaned rubbing the back of his neck some more. This was the worse wakeup call ever. What a headache. He winced once more before covering the yawn which had threatened to escape with his hand. There was no way he was going to show weakness around this nuisance.

Shrugging off her presence the cervitaur opened the door, careful to not knock it off its hinges again, and peered outside. Everything was damp and smelled of rain. Normally he would have been happy to see such a sight, but instead he just sneezed. It made him wince more. Not only had his head felt heavy, but his throat was sore as well. It was probably thanks to the damp place he had fallen asleep in. Each moment since he woke up Kallan had continued cursing the house and its owner in his mind. “You know most would offer breakfast at their place, but after seeing your pantry I’d rather risk getting my own sort of disease from eating a rotting animal out in the forest somewhere.” Okay there, the morning insult was good and gone. But his voice felt rough as he said it. Grimacing Kallan put his hand to his forehead and took a couple of steps outside, “As it is I’ll be happy to leave this place and just drop of some things for you to help this shack.” There was no point in even trying the tools she had. Especially with the work this place needed.

He would just head towards his own home on the other side of the forest’s edge and deal with things there. The thought settled he made a half motion of a wave towards the female before heading a few more steps out, each getting slightly more wobblier than the first. Why was everything so blurry? Kallan kept rubbing his eyes stubbornly though his body kept getting lower towards the ground. Who know fevers could make the world turn upside down like that?

Sakina cocked her head slightly as the male stood. He didn't look so good... Not that he had before! Nope! "Coulda fooled me," she shot back, stepping away to give him room to get himself up.

The more the male moved around, the more Sakina was certain something was wrong. ...Well, it wasn't her problem. "Fine. Don't need you eating all my food anyway." Tail flicking proudly as the male finally went on his way, she was just shutting the door when she heard the thuds of a body hitting the ground. Brow knitting, she slowly opened the door back up, and stared at the male. What was he doing down there?

Just as slowly, she walked over and knelt down beside him. "Hey, if you die, do ya mind if'n I make use of yer leftovers? Ya know, a new blanket, your antlers as spear tips, fertilizer fer my garden.~" She was only partially serious though. Mostly, she was just trying to get a rise out of him. What was wrong? He looked like he was getting weaker by the second...

As he laid there with his head spinning the male cervitaur glared up at the trio of females, “Like ‘ell if I’d die for you to abuse.” He retorted with a cough before trying to push himself up again. His hand went back to cover his eyes as the wave of dizziness hit him again. Out of all the times…this was ridiculous. “I never get sick.” He muttered before taking another step and stumbling into her.

Wincing he shook his head and tried again, “I’m not getting….sick here.” Coughing he stumbled forward again and grabbed at a tree for support. He just had to make it through the forest and home…home to a warm bed with herbs and teas…he slipped again and crashed down beside the tree. Now if everything would just stay still! “Go away you stupid dots…” He groaned holding his head in his hands again.

Chuckling lightly, Sakina stood back up. "Good. Now, go on." She yelped in surprise as the male stumbled against her, struggling now to keep standing. "Oof! Boy, you need ta lay off them sweets."

Finally, she accepted that the buck really was ill. Sighing heavily, she grumbled and walked over to grab his arm and waist, encouraging him to lean on her. "Well, you did git sick here. Let yer dear friend Sakina here git ya all fixed up ta go back home." She turned and started leading him back to the shack. "Now, no beefin', ya hear? You ain't in any condition ta be walkin' back ta yer own place."

Leaning on her the buck dug his hooves into the ground as he realized where she was taking him, “Oh no. No, no no.” He shook his head weakly, “Do…you…” He glanced away from her and coughed, “Think I want…to be in the same place that got me ill?” Sure it had been the rain, but he was stubborn about this. If he let her take care of him she would be chopping him up into bits soon enough! Then there would be no one to find the body out here in the middle of nowhere…oh spirits. It was either the idea or the fever which caused a chill to erupt down his spine.

“I want to go home. To my home.” He moaned softly into her shoulder like a sick puppy, “Where my herbs are and a fire is and a bed and tea…and herbs.” He looked away from her again and coughed, “Did I mention herbs? Herbs are nice…” The cervitaur staggered again though at the thought as more dark spots came across his vision. Oh go away you stupid things…at the thought he closed his eyes briefly before catching himself right before falling again.
