Trevor made a face as he got interrupted by Jack. He was all for catching up with friends and all but he hated it when he got interrupted he stood up and dusted off his behind. He figured he would take the chance to Mingle and make some new friends before nodding slightly to Jack and then looked at Amarilla "i'm going to see if I can make some more friends..I'll text you the details for this art museum excursion" he told her before deciding to approach someone else to make new friends."i'll see ya around" he said and decided to lose his shirt in his car.
He weaved through the bodies on the beach and headed back up to the parking lot to toss his shirt in his car before deciding to head back to the fireworks. He hummed quietly to himself as he walked. Once he reached his car he tossed his shirt into the back seat locked his car and headed back down towards the bonfire where most of the people decided to converge.
He stopped feeling the sand beneath his toes before standing and watching the fireworks shoot off. He always loved fireworks and they were always so beautiful. The sad part was he was watching them on his own but that didn't bother him all that much. He stretched and continued to watch the fireworks.

James was at the beach to make a feeble attempt at being social. His interactions with the volunteer Yahya at the animal shelter had given him back some of his confidence. He'd been little more than a hermit, outside of going to work, since his adventures in space and figured that the city wide beach party would be the perfect way to slide back into a sense of normalcy.
And maybe he'd get some material he could use for writing. God, he hadn't written in months. He really needed some kind of distraction.
He had a couple of mixed drinks, followed by a beer or two, by the time the fireworks had begun to go off which left his inhibitions far behind him. It was then, as he stumbled across the sand barefoot and only in dark blue swim trunks, that he spotted and recognized the purple haired boy Prosper.
"Ooooii!" He called waving his shirt at the boy as he skittered over. "I remember you!" He cooed practically prancing right up to the boy. "Prosper right?"

The hug was his cover, as were the fireworks suddenly exploding above them; let Zac eye Quinn suspiciously, distracted from the young man with the fallen mohawk as he stole a water balloon from Zac's stores. Let him worry, caution in his posture and his expression. He had good reason to. Almost absently, Veer smashed the stolen balloon over Zac's head, soaking him thoroughly, and then offered a bright flash of a grin. Here, at least, was someone who didn't know who he was. Or didn't give a s**t. Or both, maybe. "Nice to meet you, 'Zacy-poo'." And he offered a hand.

Dustin Harlow As Dustin ordered a round of three mojitos for him, Porsha and Venice, a familiar face caught the corner of his eye. It was Prosper DuBois, down by the beach. Oh man, he hadn't seen that kid in months, not since the whole identity-swap that changed the entire course of his life. Prosper was an old neighbor and family friend of his, back when he was Dylan, although Dylan and Prosper never exactly got along. Mostly cause Dylan was just as much of an a*****e as ever. "Hrmph," Dustin scoffed as he was handed the drinks, making a note to himself to maybe swing by the old neighbor's place and check in on things. He hadn't returned "home" in a while. He brought the three mojitos back to the girls with a devilish grin. "Mojitos, ladies?" he asked and offered one to each, taking a glance up at the fireworks. "Looks like the show's begun. Should we move this party closer to the shore?" Ricky Cunningham "Van?" Ricky questioned with delight as his hulking arms wrapped around the girl tight and spun her around in a massive bear hug. "Aw, man, well I'll be...I haven't seen you since, erm, we got all nekkid and went skinny dippin'. Good times." He placed her down to take a quick look at her body. They should go skinny dipping again, he thought. Hell, he was halfway there, still without a shirt. And the ocean was just a couple of yards away...his empty, one-track mind started to drift off into fantasy before snapping back to some semblance of reality. "What've ya been up to?"

It surprised Jack when Trevor said goodbye. He quirked an eyebrow, and watched the other boy walk away.
"Hey!" he called after him, flicking the ashes from his cigarette onto the beach. They got lost in the sand, and the tip glowed red again. "Sorry, bro. I think you're pretty too!"
Ducky and BJ laughed.
Jack turned his attention to Amarilla, who he thought was even lovelier when she blushed, and smiled. It was clear to him that she'd had a little too much to drink.
"My name's Phil," said Jack. "This is Kyle," he indicated Ducky, who had red hair and freckles. "And his girlfriend's name is Lois."
It took a minute for BJ to catch on. When he did, he threw an empty beer can at Jack's head. "You ********."
Jack, laughing from his gut, avoided being hit by an inch.
"Actually," BJ said, smiling at Amarilla now, and trying to push Jack out of the way so that he could have all of her attention, "I'm Iron Man."

Oh, Lord-of-Good-Manners help him. Some person was yelling at him, and waving their shirt, and practically prancing right up to him. Prosper stilled on the beach, signalling for Ralph to keep his distance when James approached, and forced his expression into a polite smile. It didn't quite reach his eyes.
"That's my name, yes," Prosper nodded, and thought that this man must have recognized him from some magazine. His mother had, after all, arranged for several photoshoots. Prosper didn't have time to read magazines, but he'd seen the pictures. He knew how memorable they were. Even if he did say so himself.
"Do I... know you from somewhere?"
Something about James was eerily familiar, but Prosper couldn't quite place his face. Two years had passed since their rendezvous in space. Prosper liked to pretend it had all just been a part of some horrible nightmare.
He happened to glance in Dustin's direction, and noticed the other boy looking at him. Prosper cringed inwardly and motioned, with a little wave of his hand, for Ralph to stand in Dustin's line of vision. Ralph obeyed.

Vanessa was drunk the last time she'd seen Ricky too. She remembered the evening they'd spent together fondly, despite the amount of booze she'd consumed, and was pleased to know that Ricky hadn't forgotten all about her either. "They were good times, weren't they?" She giggled and swayed a little on the spot when he put her back on the ground. Vanessa gripped his arm to regain her balance, and approved privately of his muscles. "Oooooh, not a whole lot. Just been working. But I've got a secret for you," Vanessa twinkled at Ricky, and pressed close so that she could whisper in his ear. "In my free time I save the world." She said it like it was a joke, and burst out laughing at the end.

Despite his foggy brain, James was acutely aware of the oversized man lingering just yards from them. He made a mental note, though it was quickly discarded, to clean up his act. It lasted all of two seconds before he slung an arm over Prosper's shoulders to whisper something in his ear.
"Yeah, from space," the young man mumbled pulling away with a large grin plastered on his face and laughter spilling from his lips. "Y'know," he continued, words slurring together, "after the space whale and with the zodiacs?" It was vague enough that if someone who hadn't been through the events in space they would think he was talking about a tv show or something.
Or that's what his drunk a** told himself.
"It was an adventure."
Oh, it was an adventure.

The offered drink was claimed immediately upon Dustin's return, and she took a long pull from the straw before leaning in to give him a kiss for a thanks. "How'd you know I like mint?" Admittedly, anything he'd brought for her would have been met with gratitude. At his question she grinned, laced her fingers with his, and started towards the beach. "Hell yes! Come on Venny!" Her Roller Derby captain received a wink, then she was back to hurrying Dustin away from the bar and down along the cool sand towards the water. It was bright, loud, and Porsha loved every minute of it. Specially the concussive bass as it hit her chest. When they were at the waters edge the teen let go of Dustin's hand, and instead she reached up to rest her palm against his back, thumb slipping within the band of his swim trunks. "So..." She glanced at him, grinning. "Whatcha doin later?"

Lila raised her eyebrows. "How recent are we talking? You might know my sister better than me," she laughed, leaning back.
"Mmm, I frequent the mall enough - we should frequent it together sometime. Shopping's always more fun with company, don't you think?" Sure, it was a little forward, but Lila liked to cut to the chase. Besides, going to the mall wasn't exactly a marriage proposal - it wasn't even necessarily a date. (It would be a pretty awesome date, though. It'd be nice to have a date at the mall that wasn't with some boy complaining about being her pack mule.)

Oh no.
Prosper stiffened, but tried not to look too uncomfortable when James touched him. He had rules about things like distance, and personal bubbles. James was breaking several of them. It warmed his cheeks, to have the other man's mouth so close to his ear. Prosper pursed his lips around his straw and sipped his water.
And then James was talking about things that Prosper had wanted to forget, and laughing about them too. Being kidnapped and fighting space whales and ******** were the farthest things from fun that Prosper could think of. He did not appreciate being reminded of them.
"I'm sorry," he said, smiling tightly, though he felt more relaxed now that James had let go of him. "I don't think I know who you are."
He debated very seriously about having Ralph get rid of this little problem.

James didn't miss the way Prosper's cheeks flushed when he draped his arm around him. Nor did he miss the way he seemed to tense when he mentioned the space thing. His large goofy grin faltered and he found himself frowning. He should have expected such a reaction, it was normal. Typical.
But he had been hoping to be able to talk about the whole thing. It had been heroic, both his death and his activities as a ghostly figure, but still a bit traumatizing. He couldn't blame the boy for lying but he wasn't just going to stand there and take the lie.
"It's hard to forget purple hair," he commented carefully, eying the boy. He slung his shirt over his shoulder and a hand found his hip. "I also distinctly remember teasing you about cobwebs and cleaning."
He wasn't going to let this go.

"Oh..well bye Trevor! It was nice to see you!" she called out as her friend left, feeling a bit sad. Had she upset him?
She smiled as the other one, Phil, introduced he and his friends. She grew suspicious that they were using fake names though when one introduced himself as Iron Man. Rather than be irritated, Amarilla laughed.
"Well Mr. Stark, I see you are slumming with the common people today." she commented to BJ, indicating the beach full of young adults who were focusing on the fireworks above.
"I don't think I trust those names." she went on to say, bringing her attention back to Jack. "But I'll be nice enough to give you MY real name. I'm Amarilla, and it's nice to meet you guys." She rose a little out of her chair and adjusted its position so that she wasn't looking over her shoulder at the group.
"So what brings you boys out here tonight? Besides the great show." she pointed at the fireworks, momentarily distracted by them.Castille and Micah found a bag of hot dogs, and commandeered the entire thing when no one was looking. Sharing may be caring, but Castille was hungry. She too found a stick and crouched near the edge of the fire, twirling her hot dog like it was on a rotisserie.
"Well, let's see...interesting news..." she mentally went down a list. Became Eternal? Naw she couldn't say that. Went to space once or twice? Nope.
"I've been applying to colleges." she said lamely, watching her hot dog closely. Burnt dogs were disgusting. "I think I am going to stick around here, but it doesn't hurt to try other places too!" Her brain searched for something more interesting than school. They were on summer break for crying out loud!
"Oh! I think I may have a date sometime here soon." she said casually, feeling her heart jump just a bit.

Arian laughed "There is quite a bit of rain over that side" he agreed. "Especially the drizzle kind." He might have said more, but at that moment the fireworks started with the whizzing of what sounded like a catherine wheel, his head tilting skywards in time to catch the red and green from one of the first fireworks. "Yes that sounds good" he agreed quietly, with a smile at Orah's question as another firework, this one red and gold went off. The firelight was a bit in the way here. Further down the beach the glow wouldn't interfere.

It would take more than the ravings of a drunk to break Prosper. He had spent much of the last two years of his life trying to forget everything that had transpired in outer space. He'd constructed his life around the idea that it was all just a horrible dream, despite the vividity of his memories, and resented the way James insisted otherwise.
Prosper had moved on. He'd gotten a pedicure, hired a bodyguard, and gone on vacation. And he'd done a lot of thinking. About life, about Destiny City, and about the crazy s**t that supposedly happened there. He'd lived a sheltered life, away from a lot of the chaos and the crime, and had managed to convince himself that it was all just a part of some stunt. Tabloids proved you couldn't believe everything you saw on the news.
It was the fourth of July. The beach swarmed with normal people. If Destiny City really was crawling with supernatural nutjobs, didn't it make sense for them to take advantage of this? Unless those supernatural nutjobs were the same as these young people prioritizing booze and fornication.
Prosper glanced around them, eyes flickering over the crowd, and breathed a sigh of relief. It couldn't be true. He remembered James, however, and was frightened by it.
"I don't know anyone who actually likes cobwebs and cleaning," he said. "If I give you $50 will you go away?"
