"Harrison, I can explain when I know he's stable okay." It was hard for her to let Harrison near, she felt horrible and guilty and above all protective. "Just the one." Her voice turned hoarse and weak. She struggled to swallow before pulling her phone out again and began texting with sticky bloodied fingers.
Text to Jordan rep's hurt meet us at the infirmary.

Melvin just knelt there, watching the two work, and feeling rather useless. Why did Rin even call him here?
He looked back at Rep, then at Rin, and then at Harrison. This is what he got for tweeting.

"Somehow," Harrison said, "I don't think there's gonna be a good enough explanation."
The pieces just didn't fit.
If he was still a cop...
He finished securing the arm, and shuffled Rep carefully into his arms. He eyed the contents of the bucket. Cleaning supplies. He looked at the two of them. Rep had threatened to kill Rin. She'd been scared on Twitter. They were together. Melvin had left a bunch of threatening messages.
He held Rep tighter.
He didn't exit the room first.
"You guys go on. Out."

What had she meant, my fault? Jordan shoved the phone into his pocket, abandoned his books on the library table, and headed for the infirmary at a run. By the time they arrived, he would be there, pacing in the corridor outside the room where badly injured hunters were brought first for emergency care. Again. He'd seen way too much of the infirmary this year.
A knot of dread and worry, confusion and anger was stuck in his stomach. He didn't know what had happened. He needed to know, wasn't sure he wanted to know.

Rin followed Harrison's gaze to the bucket and then looked back to his face, "I'm not going until I know he's okay." The gears in her head didn't immediately realize assumptions may have been made. But she did at least remember why Melvin was called, she pointed at where blood had started getting on... things. "Melvin, please. He was adamant." As if that somehow explained everything to poor Melvin what she brought him there for.
"Jordan is headed to the infirmary. I will make sure I didn't ruin your... ..." other things too.

When Rin spoke to him, he looked up, and was then confused. His eyes slowly moved to the blood on the floor, and it took him a moment to realize why she called him for cleaning supplies and not for runic bandages. The look of disappointment was hard to mask, and he only said a simple "Oh" to her. He wasn't called to protect her, or even serve the purpose of a Lifer member to heal anyone. Rin and Harrison were taking care of everything. He was just here for clean up. A maid.
He got up slowly. Despite having worked with Harrison before, he wasn't even needed for minor assistance. Moving over, he took the bucket and then went to the bathroom to file it with hot water. Cleaning usually made him feel better, but he doubted it would this time.

"He's been in better shape. We're going to the infirmary. I need to lock up. I didn't feel ******** comfortable with you two in my room."
He also didn't feel comfortable with Rep's shield broke, or having his back on either of them.

Rin's sorry Melvin but there was just no way she was going to let you touch Rep in the condition he was in. Not right now. Rin looked to Harrison, the hurt tangible, "He'll be even more mad at me if he knew I let your things get ruined." She also looked uncertain, "Can I come?"

Melvin paused when he was told he couldn't say. Bucket in hand, he looked to Rin and Rep. "Then...I'll just be going then." He glanced to them both, and slowly made his way to the door.

"You said you'd explain down there. I'm not gonna stop you."

Rin frowned apologetically at Melvin and then Harrison. She really didn't get what he was implying to her. She was ready to pled her case, she couldn't just go.. "Harrison, please." Her voice was weak. She wanted to go with Rep above all else and didn't beleive any invitations had been extended.

Melvin looked at all three of them, before heading to the door. "I'll be in my room, Rin." He told her, before looking at Harrison. "I'm sorry." To that he left without saying anything else.

Harrison watched Melvin go.
He wasn't sure what his involvement was. He was in Life. He could be a weaselly masterminding ********. But he left.
For a second, he wasn't sure what Rin was asking for. His expression hardened.
"You want me to say, 'I really want to have you along, it would make my day to have you there'? Because you're not getting that s**t. You can come. I don't want you alone with him, and I don't want to turn my back on you either. I'm trying to be friendly. I haven't called security. Walk ahead."

Rin watched Melvin go with a distant but hurt feeling in her gut, before looking to Harrison as he began to speak. "No. I don't expect anything of you. I just... want to make sure he's okay." She looked relieved and fell silent with a nod of her head as she headed out the door then waited for Harrison to hustle. Jordan was probably waiting already.

Harrison watched her leave.
Then he crouched, and took his cell phone out of his pocket. He took a picture of the stain. Then he stood and took a couple shots of the surrounding area. The time stamps were important. They meant whatever had happened, Rep hadn't used his weapon in this room.
He pocketed his phone. Then he locked up.
Rep wasn't in good shape, but he'd lived through a hell of a lot worse.
Harrison was pretty stony, conversationally. He was just thankful neither Rin or Melvin specialized in doctoring. He kept his stride when he saw Jordan, and delivered Rep to the infirmary guys, giving them a brief on the damage.
And then it was back to the waiting room.
"He got cut," he told Jordan, sitting heavily. "There was some bloodloss, he got knocked out. He should be okay."
