Rajiya and Green Kunnath (Burn Post) HP 35, Agility +2
Thread remaining: 77/80
"Then let us join the others, my love!"
A bell-like call joined the others as the elegant green leap into the skies. Above then, the skies glimmered with the darkness of Thread; so harmless looking until one actually came into contact with it.
Mindless, it devoured all. It had to be stopped.
Slender hands gripping the reins, a small chunk of firestone was swiftly swallowed and belched out into flame. It was not a great deal of damage but every little bit helped.

S’dekai and Pioth // Damage Post
A change in the wind sent hot ash and half-charred Thread-bits blowing straight back into them, and Pioth backwinged frantically before teleporting away, reappearing back in formation with his wing with a badly aching hide for his troubles.

Rajiya and Green Kunnath {Score Post} HP 35, Agility +2 Damage: 1 - 2 = 0)
"Above you!"
Tucking her wings close to her body, Kunnath dropped and twisted just as a large clump of Thread almost dropping right on top of them. Righting themselves, the green shrieked her outrage at the enemy before flying off towards the others.

[Z'redi and Green Rotatonth - contest entry!]
called Rotatonth, diving that way, flame spewing from her mouth. She was graceful, agile perhaps, but she was efficient. Nothing fancy, just what was required. Her focus was on Thread.
Z'redi looked up to see a clump coming for them.

[Z'redi and Green Rotatonth] Rotatonth screamed as it scored deep into her side, twisting away and flashing between before reappearing. Z'redi held back a scream. She was better than that. She had discipline. she would not scream. She would not scream. Even with Rota was in pain. Not out loud. She repeated it like a mantra until she had herself under control. repeated Rotatonth, flapping once, twice to recover her balance in the air, leaning back for more firestone. she finished. said Z'redi smiling a bit despite the pain, already handing her dragon more firestone. They were together. They were efficient. They had practiced and toned themselves for such an occasion.

Final Wave!: 173/173 For some moments it looked as though the Thread was cleared, but the wingleaders held their wings firm. If the calculations of the Starcrafters were correct they were not done up here yet today. There was however a little merciful respite: time for injured riders to pull back safely, time for replacements to come in, time to re-stock firestone sacks, and time to catch a breath from the rush and chaos of combat. It was however only a brief reprieve. Another silver curtain appeared on the horizon and the wingleaders called their followers back into formation for the final push.

There would be more time to discuss that later however, for now there was Thread to burn.
As the new wave blew chaotically in Acriculeth managed to take the edge off a pinwheeling tangle, but more was coming from behind them.

The Thread A'nos had spotted struck Acriculeth's hindquarters, sending the bronze between with an annoyed hiss of pain. They had been quick to react however so the damage was not too great, and they reappeared neatly in place without missing a beat.
Moments later however Acriculeth screamed; a tangle of Thread caught on an updraught from another dragon's wings blew directly into the bronze's chest. He was gone between in a moment but when he came back out it was clear that some more serious damage had been done.
Gasping and squeezing his eyes shut A'nos clung on tightly to his dragon, and then abruptly flinched as she felt something brush his leg. It was no Thread however; he snapped his eyes open just in time to see one of his firestone sacks plunging towards the ground.
<Look out below!> Acriculeth bellowed, his usually smooth tones harshened by pain. A quick flash of what had happened was passed onto his wingleader who swiftly distributed it to her fellows, to be passed in turn to the rest of the riders in the air.
A'nos meanwhile turned his attention to the straps. Most of the lines were still secure but one had been burned clean through by the Thread's deadly kiss. Were he riding a small dragon who relied on agility and death defying moves to get the job done he would have pulled back, but as things stood he was prepared to hang on for now.
For the defence of Pern? Not a chance: the risk to life and limb was worth taking in order to be seen to be prepared to risk life and limb. When it came to climbing the ladder of life appearances were everything.

Tennath and D’lek-Burn Post
Tennath reformed with his wing in the brief respite between waves, D'lek taking the opportunity to feed him more firestone. We've done well so far, this fall is not as large as I had expected from the influx of riders. D'lek looked over the wings restructuring before the next wave, All the same, it's taken it's taken it's toll; better to be over-prepared then under.
They spotted a knot of thread falling towards them and Tennath flew eagerly to meet it spewing forth flame. Perhaps too eagerly, D'lek heard a shout from above and Tennath hastily banked to the right to avoid a falling bag of firestone, missing a large portion of the thread and encountering a knot he had not yet expected to encounter.

The thread collided along his right wing, he blinked between as it seared his flesh. Emerging from between D'lek hastily looked over to assess damage, Looks like a nasty score, but not too damaging-you up to continue flying? Always.

Ja'kki and Emerath // Burn Post
In the moments between waves, Ja'kki caught two bags of stone from a transfer rider and secured them to Emerath's side, feeding the dragon at the same time. Just a little longer. We can last this one out. We can't let them show us up! Ja'kki's teeth ground together as her lower back ached, feeling Emerath's pain.
Emerath's eyes whirled yellow and grey but she didn't say anything. She would fly... for a little longer. The bellow of a wounded dragon gave the two just enough time to drop sideways and avoid the falling sack of stone. "Scorched Balls!" Ja'kki almost laughed but Thread was upon them and Emerath was building up another burst of flame.

Ja'kki and Emerath // Damage Post
Her flame was weak, barely a fireball that charred a portion of the Thread passing them. Ja'kki swore again. She knew the green was done. Her wingbeats were faltering, she couldn't concentrate on flaming, and even as Ja'kki thought this, they were between, Emerath screaming as her wingtip was wrapped in a clump of thread.
They reappeared above Malvren, Emerath showing some initiative of her own. I am home! She called to her Wingleader, to let them know that she wasn't lost between, but that she wouldn't be coming back. The shore beneath malvren's cliffs was already tinged green from the ichor of wounded dragons, hers would make no difference and in time, it would all be washed away by the sea.

I will need more firestone, he informed his rider. His flame was running low, and he would hate to run out at the most inconvenient time.
Got it! He fed the firestone to the dragon, stopping once Magith had enough. Just a bit more I think.
It would be detrimental to my plans to abandon this before it ends.
E'lov laughed. That's right, and you are doing very well.
Let us finish this then!

Canoake and Tatath had a moment to breathe. Then the next wave came and it seemed thicker than the first. Dodging and darting, the green was starting to lose endurance but Canoake badly wanted to see this to the end.
Tatath grumbled. She moved to one side as Acriculeth called a warning.
Canoake frowned.

(Since I can't edit from my phone) Thread remaining: 152 minus 10= 142 left Canoake hissed as she allowed the distraction from above to cause her to lose her focus on the now. By dodging, they had come dangerously to a large clump of Thread... Only to get hit by a clump they didn't see. It hit Tatath's left flank. And she quickly went Between.
The green came back out and while sore, continued to fly.
