His breaths were deep and slow, calming as best as they could. He gave her a slow, crooked smile. It still didn't look quite right on Uumi's features, but something about it was reassuring. He loved Sye. Sye loved him. The thoughts wouldn't leave his mind, they kept circling and repeating over and over, and he felt rather stupid. But in a very nice way, knowing this and being only able to think of this.

"What-..." No, he didn't know what would happen and Sye wouldn't either. "Who's... how do we.." Were they supposed to let her parents know? Taabu? Uumi simply couldn't word the question quite right, to tell you the truth. "What about.. Taabu.. and your family..?"

She smiled, a mimic of his own, but so much more natural on her features and perhaps somewhat more appealing. Still, she couldn't help but find it adorable, even as crooked and odd as the smile looked stretched over his mug. Her mind was caught in a whirlwind, a thousand thoughts screaming at her but only the thought of love able to make its way through her thought process properly.

"We should tell Taabu," she breathed, nodding slowly - they'd have to tell him, and her family too. "And we'll have to tell the rest of them," she murmured as well, her body shifting to lean against his somewhat, embracing the warmth emanating through his furr. "But we won't until you want to, Uumi. My family is a touchy subject, but Taabu - Taabu will be hard. He'll expect you to be his father," she whispered, knowing, though, that she couldn't lie to her son if she was outright asked from him.

He was slowly letting his body relax, he was becoming less tense. Yes, they would have to tell both their son and her family. But he didn't really like the idea of either. He didn't know what being a father was, so how could he try to be one? That ment a lot of responsablity, and spending tons of time with the cub.. teaching him things he didn't even know if he could teach. But he wasn't sure he wanted to wait, exactly.

"I don't... I don't know what I'm supposed to do." He murmered, though his voice was void of emotion. He hated words like those, they made him sound stupid. He still wasn't ready to be a father... but he'd never be ready to be a father, would he? "But I'd rather tell them sooner than later.. I.. can try hard at.. being his father, Sye.." He trailed off and took a deep breath, sighing.

The relaxing of his muscles was obvious to her, but his worried mind still remained and worked inside his skull. He may not have known how to be a father, but she was forced much sooner than he to be a mother. As soon as little Taabu was brought into this world, she had responsibility wether she wanted it or not. He had needed her and she had been there - she hoped, for Uumi's sake, that perhaps fatherhood would come just as easily. She knew it was an instinct, to care for your young, for your babies, but some people lacked it. Still, she was confident in him.

"Don't feel so bad," she said with the strongest smile she could manage, "you may not know what to do - but my father raised three of us already and has four more to go. If he can do it, any lion can," she said with a weak laugh, gaze drifting off at the thoughts of her beloved father, "believe me." Though, once he said he'd try, said he'd do it, her attention snapped back, "And I'll be there to help you, Uumi, it's not like you have to do it by yourself."

She sat up slowly, not leaning on him now, her eyes drifting over the horizon for a moment - then in the direction she had heard her mother call Taabu - back to the den, "do you want to go now?"

Bad move, comparing this to Sye's father. Though it was completely different Uumi still couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed at that, of course he could do it if her father had. Her father was an idiot, at least in his eyes. He snorted but said nothing about it, tail flicking.

"Yes, that's a good point." He muttered, not by himself like he left her fore such a while. He rose when she asked her question, stretching slowly. "Yes, best to go now." He glanced to her, ears flicking. This was all so.. surreal.

Lounging around the den was the form of Ari. The lone charcoal lioness was enjoying the cool temperature in the den, compared to what usually would emerge from the cave soon come summer. The small form of her grandson was near her, which brought a smile to her face. Seeing him, as well as any of her children seemed to brighten her mood when no one was around.

As for her second litter, most of them were off playing somewhere with the adolecents, such as Tamu and Tafari. Maybe Tisha was also watching them.

Standing up, the charcoal queen yawned, moving towards her grandson and licking his head. Her eyes then searched around for Asi, spotting him just a few feet away.

She nodded as she slowly pushed herself up onto her sturdy forpaws, eyes glimmering as she began to walk - waiting for him at her side, and making sure she didn't go exceedingly fast. The last thing she wanted was for him to have a fit before they got there. She figured it would be easy, considering the emotions and stress he was going through right now.

"Mom," she called out, once they had neared the cave, spotting the movement of the queen's form against the dark shadows shrouding the cave - and the smaller, more noticeable form of her son. Their son. She glanced around, for her father, slightly closer to Uumi than normal - yeah, she didn't want her dad going postal on them again.

Little Taabu giggled as his grandmother licked his head, one paw pushed against her nose as he muttered out, "Gamma quit it." Yes, he was dirty beyond reason right now, but he wanted to play more. What use was it her giving him a bath if he was just going to get dirty again today. When he heard his mother, however, he looked up with a little grin on his lips, "Gamma! Momma and Uumi are here..

I'd say it might be reasonable for Uumi to have a fit from just telling Sye's parents this news. He shifted, glad that he was on the side away from the big oaf that was Syeira's father. He dipped his head in greeting to her parents though, eyes flicking nervously around. He said nothing, and truly wanted Sye to do all of the talking.

Asi was enjoying watching Ari and their grandson, though when he heard Sye's voice and turned to look a growler slipped on his mug. What was that scoundral doing near their den? His tail began to flick quickly, eyes softening as he looked to Sye. "Ey thurr, princess." He purred out, smiling at her and ignoring Uumi completely now. So childish.

Ari chuckled at Taabu, purring quietly as he giggled. He was such a cutie, with or without the dirt. However, he'd be a bit more attractice less dirtier, but there was a fix to that. Either Sye or herself would manage to bathe the smaller form later that evening.

Her eyes glanced towards the entrance, watching her daughter and Uumi enter. A smile approached her maw, nodding her head in greeting. "Evening, Syeira. Uumi." She addressed both lions, unlike Asi. Her ears flicked towards her mocha mate at the growl, causing a slight narrow in her eyes to emerge. Don't make a fool out of yourself just yet Asikari.

Syeira frowned at the growl from her father, but ignored it, slowly sitting down with a smile as she was greeted rather ecstatically by their son. Her eyes drifted between her father and mother, then to her son, and back to the parents she loved so once more. "We have news," she breathed, but before she could even give her father the chance to get moody, she was already speaking again.

"Uumi and I are together," she breathed, putting a rigid posture on, her face once again back to her usual calmness. She needed this air in order to say it - still, saying it that way sounded wierd. How else could she, though? "And, he's going to be a father to Taabu." She nodded, smiling at her mother, though once it turned to her father - she let her eyes rest more calmly on his own. She needed him to approve of this, even if she was a big girl now.

Little Taabu had still been attempting to fight off the offenses of his grandmother's attempt at bathing, but once he heard those words flow from his mother's mouth, his eyes widened slightly and settled on Uumi. He acted almost as if he was about to walk forward, but stop, hesitating, and leaned back into the warm and sturdy form of his gama. Still, he spoke, eyes concentrated on Uumi as Syeira's were on his Gappa, "do I still have to call you Uumi?"

Aww.

Man, Ari had him whiped. He quieted down and muttered "ello Uumi" before his little princess began to speak. But then he wished he hadn't given her a chance to! "Wha?" He sounded as if he'd just been stricken. Together? He thought that arse didn't like Sye very much... He was completely baffled by the news. His eyes met Syeira's, so much like her mother's... He sighed slightly and turned a fronw on Uumi. "If yeh do annee thin' ter 'er or annee 'un else in me family.. I gun'a go an' kill yeh." His voice was clear and threatening, but he did accept it. Sort of. It was syeira's decision, after all.

Uumi was watching his paws as Sye said this, tail jerking back and forth. He wasn't embaressed.. well, not that much. He was more nervous than embaressed, seeing as this wasn't like him at all. He glanced up, eyes flicking to Asi and ari. He almost rolled them at Asi's words, but caught himself. "As you wish." He murmered quietly, completely serious. This was no time for sarcasum!

His gaze flicked back to Taabu and crimson eyes were held by the twin gaze. They widened slightly at the question and he sucked in a quick breath, coughing slightly. "Er.." Being called dad. Something he never imagined would happen, cubs or no cubs. "Uh.. well.. no." He finally got out, shifting slightly as he sat. "No, you don't." He murmered more softly, more to himself than to Taabu.

On the contrary to Asi's 'gritting his teeth and just getting through this' attitude, Ari's was completely different. The small smile had increased to a much large one as her eyes settled onto the crimson pridelander. "That's good to hear," Was all she said, nodding slightly as Taabu leaned against her.

She shook her head at Asi. She hated fights, especially when this should be a moment of celebration and happiness. Not anger and moody. At least Asi had tried to accept it...right? "Now that that is clear..." She coughed slightly, turning her gaze from Asi to Syeira then to Uumi again. "Welcome to the family, Uumi."

Syeira had almost scowled at her father, knowing that he should be at least somewhat kinder to Uumi, but then she saw the way her mother looked at him. Mom would deal with him, sooner or later, she knew. So, simply turning her head back to Uumi - rather surprised that he had complied with her father's wishes so well, in fact - she smiled. Things had tunred out far better than she had actually first thought they would. Her tail flickered, slowly letting her eyes sto her(their) son. This is how it should be. She, Uumi, and little Taabu.

"Thank you mom, and dad," she whispered, slowly pushing herself up onto her feet and stalking past him - to her father. She knew he was taking this the hardest, and she was his little princess. With a small purr, she leaned down, nuzzling him, "thank you especially," she whispered. She knew her mom would handle this fine, but her dad. Well, her dad was her dad, hard headed to the core.

The little ball of fur moved slowly away from its gamma, slowly towards Uumi. HE seemed like he was so out of place here, with gama and gapa and momma - maybe it's cause he was bright red? Well Taabu had red too! He moved forward, hesitantly though it was, and nuzzled his head against the foreleg of the young lion.

His Daddy.

Asi huffed but he couldn't be mean to his little princess! He nuzzled back into her, purring slightly. "Yeh take care." He whispered back. And he ment, she was to be careful. It wasn't his fault he didn't trust Uumi, the red scoundrel got his daughter pregnant! How was that letting Uumi trust him at all? But he guessed there must be something extraordinarily okay with the male, for his baby to want to be with him.

At least they came and told them, right?

Uumi eyes Taabu warily, why was he coming toward him? With Sye being ri.. his thought kind of cut off as the little cub nuzzled into his leg and he opened his mouth to ask him what the hell he was doing, because that was his automatic response for these kinds of things.. but it clicked shut again. He took a calming breath and ever so slowly leaned down, nuzzling lightly into Taabu.

This... wasn't so aweful. Awkward, yes. But not so bad...
