Harrison hadn't been there. He'd been so sure he would be he hadn't even put the effort into a standing landing and had hit the ground painfully, sitting there for a few moments in a daze as he sought in the fog for what had prevented him from catching him. Surely something. Maybe that was part of the rotating around too?
The figure, pointing with long claws emerged from its assault on Jordan to approach him, and for a second of desperation he wasn't sure what to do. His groove had been thrown off by the failed charge, he felt sapped and the twisting fear of the gas was almost overwhelming.
It lashed out at him and he made no effort to deflect the swing, too busy hunting for familiar shapes in the swirling mist. Finally, he spotted Harrison or what could be Harrison, laying prone on the ground. Fear numbed until it was irrelevant, this thing stood in the way of seeing what had happened, that was all there was to it. He jabbed Tracey forward like a lance.

Harrison- Maybe she was just imagining that. He'd been defending! He hadn't taken a hit hard enough to knock him out or worse, had he? She was sure- but how could anyone be sure of anything in this fog?
Anger ignited, and she gave in to Kouki's hissed pleadings. Go, she ordered, releasing the blades. As one, all four swords rose from her hands, from their scabbards, and flew. Kouki let out a hiss like the rising spike of a teakettle as the blades bit down into the fog - and something there, shadows, thrashed and broke apart, fading.
And, abruptly, the feeling of oppression, of other, broke away.
As the swords returned to her, spent, Madison looked at the others. "I think it's dead," she said, quietly. "Is he...?" She didn't finish the question. She had bandages, but...

The blue glow had faded, but Jordan had seen Harrison crumple before the glow was entirely gone; as soon as the shapes in the fog thrashed and faded, the was heading swiftly for the spot where he'd seen Harrison, almost stumbling over his prone form in the fog. He dropped to one knee and checked Harrison over. "He's breathing, no injuries," he reported. He hesitated a moment, then added, "Maybe the fog threw bugs at him. It was getting pretty personal."

The sharp scent on the air faded as Maddie finished off the creature, but that drained feeling didn't go away. He saw Jordan run to Harrison's aid and in a sort of distant way felt like he should be right there beside him running to help, but he couldn't move. He just stood and watched blankly as if he was unconcerned, Tracey de-summoning almost on his own. Is he?, the words were like ice in his veins. Even as Jordan reported he was still breathing, that it was probably bugs, he didn't move, it was as if adrenaline from the battle, fear from the chemicals and that instant of sharp worry had stolen his capacity to function. Everything felt hazy and far away, slow motion and part of that chemical nightmare.
When he finally managed to make himself move it was like a man sleepwalking, he headed slowly over to kneel next to Jordan, concerned but unable to help. He ghosted his fingertips on Harrison's wrist as if it would somehow make him able to read someone's pulse, to tell whether he'd been knocked out or just swooned at some unseen horror. But his untrained hands could feel nothing at all. There was a stirring of memory and he found himself sharply reminded of the last time he'd felt like this, a flash of fear once again lancing through him. He recoiled his hand anxiously. His head wasn't clear yet, he wasn't stable. He swore he could still see the twisted accusing figure of his mother in the fog and his heart wouldn't stop racing.
"Ye..yeah. Bugs. Probably." he stammered.

"No injuries?" Madison frowned. She'd transferred two swords into one hand, awkwardly clumping the hilts together to free up one hand to retrieve the bandages from her obi. The fog didn't feel as malicious as it had previously, but she knew this area was infected with warped FEAR and Insanity.. she didn't feel right putting Kouki away. Not yet.
"You're welcome to these, if you think they'd do any good at all," she said, quietly holding up the roll of runic bandages. "If he's not injured, though..."

"I think he's just fainted," Jordan said cautiously, though he couldn't keep an edge of worry out of his voice. "He should be awake again soon. Hang onto the bandages for now." He looked up at Rep. "Could you carry him?"
Ferros rumbled softly in the back of Jordan's mind, concerned.

"Aye, he's got this thing about bugs." Rep offered helpfully to Maddie, trying to sound less rattled than he felt - in his distress forgetting to be rude or abrupt to her. He took a bit of stability from Jordan's words, clearly the hallucinogen was still just clouding his judgement.
He retrieved B0nez from where he'd fallen, unafraid to touch him the way he was with other totems, carefully pocketing him before he hefted Harrison into his arms - princess carry style - some people were too important to be slung over a shoulder.

Madison made a sympathetic face. "Yeah, well - don't blame him, some of the s**t I've seen." She tucked the bandages away, then took up her swords in both hands again, warily scanning the area around them. "Heading back, right? I'll cover you, in case some ******** tries to be clever." She glared at the fog.
That manifestation was plenty for her mission report on the area, all by itself.

Jordan nodded gratefully. "I think we found the problem in the area," he said. "Let's get back." He turned to head back towards the portal.

Rep nodded. "Aye lets get out of here." he wasn't in the mood to run into another creature and have to fight to defend Harrison till he came to. Last time he'd had to fight a fog dragon unarmed. It hadn't been fun.
He took in the fog around them and shivered, hugging Harrison close. He felt like the apparition, even though it was gone, still lurked on the edges of his peripheral vision. "I think I could do with getting some fresh air."
He followed behind Jordan solemnly, pausing only to gruffly state. "You fought awright." to Maddie, "For a burd."

Madison was actually taken aback by the unexpected... praise? Was it a compliment? Eh. She'd take it. "You too," she said, nodding at Rep. "That weapon of yours is one magnificent blade." And totally unsuited to her, but that was why she had Kouki. The serpent-sword grumbled in her mind and threw possessive mental coils around her... metaphorically speaking.
She kept looking about as she spoke, scanning for any anomalies.

Jordan half-smiled - that had counted as complimentary. Maybe Rep would be civil next time Maddie was around. He could hope, anyway.
The blue glow of the portal loomed out of the fog, a different, greener blue than the blue that had enveloped Harrison. The recollection made him frown. What had that been, and why had it come now? Was it an effect of the fog, or something else? It had been accompanied by a burst of startling speed, and the collapse had happened immediately afterwards. Please, let that be coincidental.
Jordan shook his head and half-turned. "Portal's here," he called back, "follow my voice."

Tracey preened in Rep's thoughts at the compliment from Madison, not as upset as Rep about Harrison's current situation.
Rep didn't buy it in the least. It made sense that it would be the bugs that would set him off, it was logical. But logic didn't explain all the weird s**t, weird s**t he'd been noticing for a while now, moments of lapse, that blue glow - it hadn't been the first time he'd seen it. And he hadn't had the balls to ask what was up, even the gem was glancingly touched upon before being disregarded as too touchy. He resolved to ask Harrison what the ******** was going on when he woke up, and to maybe tell Jordan about his suspicions, he'd been keeping them to himself too long.
"Good. Lets make tracks. I'll carry sleeping beauty back to the room, let him rest it off."

Madison moved as Rep did, pacing almost backwards as she covered him and Harrison, hoping the portal wasn't too far away. She had no real grasp of distance in this fog, but Jordan had sounded close. Kouki let out a low, protective hiss in her mind, and she wished it had been audible. Maybe it would've scared away anything that thought they were easy pickings now.
