A dry smile tugged at Shina's lips. "Do your best Rasha!" she called, able to see the writing on the wall, and knowing there was no way to turn this around. Lenore's team had grown too strong.

The flames engulfed Mephistopheles, but they were blown away as he spun a newly conjured lance about like a windmill. The lance flew straight at the ponyta.

Shina smiled. That last attack had been more powerful than usual. "One more." One way or another, one of the pokemon was going down.

The flames engulfed Mephistopheles again, but they didn't go out this time. Lenore looked on in curiosity, then in bewilderment, and finally in fright as she realized what had happened - Mephistopheles had fallen. She scrambled for his pokeball, wide-eyed. She tried to return him, but the flames obscured the duskull from her vision. Thinking quickly, she sent out Elesh Norn and frantically commanded a faint attack.
Darkness rushed down over the field, extinguishing the flames entirely. Lenore hurriedly recalled Mephistopheles to the decrepit pokeball. In her mind, however, the flames continued to burn, searing Mephistopheles, the children and the adults looking on as Lenore screamed and ran forward. The screams from the crowd as.... Lenore pushed the memory from her mind, shaking.
Elesh Norn looked worriedly at Lenore before floating down to the field.

"Great work, Rasha! Double Kick!" Shina called. She knew it wouldn't be enough to win her the match, but at least her Ponyta could go down fighting.
Rasha took Elesh's attack, then raced forward, pivoting at the last moment to lash out with her hind legs.

Elesh Norn was flung backwards, and darkness pooled above the decimated forest before cascading down once more.

Lenore ran out without a word or so much as a wave, heading for the pokemon center. Tears welled up in her eyes as she rounded a corner. Mef did everything for me, and never complained, and I just looked on, passive as ever. I thought that if it was Mef, that he'd be okay. I believed it so strongly and turned a blind eye to reality. She choked back a sob as she ran. I've been such a fool.
She rushed out of the gym, and into the streets. One of her shoes fell off, and she didn't care. She kept running, ignoring her burning lungs, the wind, sweat and tears stinging her eyes. She tripped and fell, crashing hard into the pavement. Ignoring the looks of the bystanders, she got up, continuing her rush to the pokemon center.

Rasha started to collapse, and was recalled by Shina before she could hit the ground. Seeing Lenore race out so quickly, Shina bolted for her own exit, chasing after her assistant. Shina was fairly certain that Lenore was headed for the Pokemon center. Her suspicion was confirmed when she spotted one of Lenore's shoe lying abandoned in the street. She scooped it up, and continued her chase. She spotted the younger girl just as she darted into the Pokemon center. Shina followed. "Lenore! Lenore, are you all right?" she asked, concerned at the other girl's distress. She hadn't been at all upset at losing her earlier battles, as far as Shina had seen, but she seemed totally broken up after her win. Shina didn't know what had triggered this, but she was hoping that she could help make it better. (RP continues here) (Challenger Lenore wins the Rainbow Prism Badge!)
