The long the stairs went on, the more Otto felt his legs get heavier. The fog kept pushing him forward, which would have scared him were he not already tired of its jerkass bullshit.

No, what scared him was the lack of light. There was enough that he could see others, but not enough to make him feel safe. At least he had Eva.

Finally they found the ground, but the stairs were gone. Gone, but not missed. There was nothing up there he ever wanted to see again. Even the ghost of his grandfather. Or illusion. Whatever. Otto needed sleep and he was getting incredibly cranky.

Whispers died down, and the long descent felt more uplifting than it was probably supposed to. He could hear others nearby. Some were very familliar.

One specifically..

"XIU?!" Mot was suddenly very happy again. A friendly face. He wasn't all alone anymore.

"Away from the hunters....yeah." She blinked and moved to the students. Horsemen lingered as well around causing the mermaid to huddle even closer to Roch. "Why are we all just gathered here? This is just like the island..."

She frowned, just like the island, all three factions of the groups were together...and most of them were eying each other like a piece of meat thrown in the middle of them would start a world war II.

The black dog eyed the hunter, the very same he had encountered time, and time again.

"What? After all the s**t you've caused in the past, refusing to listen to us, despite how we've tried reasoning with you, now you want help? My how the mighty have fallen." He grinned, bitterly amused at the change. "Even if we had, what makes you think we would answer?" His expression darkened, recalling all the past events. Events caused by them. There had been a time he had tried to understand them. Tried talking to them. But that time had come and gone and it was long buried the day they had kidnapped and tortured Mei and the others.

Saya realized, some parts of the road would have to be alone. But if that meant she could get back to where the others were, that was a chance she had to take. That was her mantra, as her foot descended each stair, reminding herself that it was for a good cause.

She descended, huddled close to the walls. Sometimes she paused, her foot slipping-- but something put her straight back on the path. She preferred to think it was a good thing rather than something leading her to her death. But when she entered the room, she realized that the probability of death was a large fity-fifty chance, judging from those sounds she could hear in the dark. It wasn't only hunters in this room.

"Ryan?"

She weaved through the crowd, calling his name at various intervals.

It was only natural for Wilson to pay attention to his surroundings as he descended the stairs. The staircase was made out of rounded rock and while he was sure he would have tripped over the first steps, something caught him before he clumsily and painfully fell to the bottom. Wilson looked back to try and catch a glimpse of the something, but he found nothing, so he went back to walking down the stairs. It was a plain trip, with no twists or turns for Wilson to follow. Only down and down.

Voices began to appear, in front or behind him. Some he recognized vaguely and some he didn’t at all. His hands curled into his fists as he continued moving, hoping that whoever was here as well wasn’t…bad. Wilson blinked as he hopped off the last step and peered into the darkness; he strained his eyes until his vision adjusted and he began to walk around slowly. He tapped the toe of his boots against the floor before he bent down to feel the texture himself. It was cold, hard. Stone. The hunter stood back up and turned around, stopped. Wilson scrutinized the location where the stairs had once been. It had disappeared. “Oh. Okay then.”

He stepped away and began to wander, giving wary glances to the students and horsemen he spotted. Sighing tiredly, Wilson strained his ears to pick up any hunter voices. His face lit up as he heard a particular female call out a familiar name. “…Saya? Ryan?” He turned around to head toward the source.

Wherever Jay had landed herself, she was beginning to grow tired of it. She had never found it entertaining in the first place, actually. Not even eye-opening. Well…She hesitated in front of the staircase and silently took back her words. In a way, the experience had been enlightening to say the least. The horsewoman nearly stumbled and fell her way to the bottom, but something held her back until she regained her balance. She turned around to try to smack whoever, but no one was there. It had disappeared. While the bluejay hesitated, she continued to hop her down to the bottom until her sandals hit the floor. She tilted her head curiously. Rock? Then she leaned forward. Aaaaah. It was so dark! Jay sighed and walked around.

Thin lips curled into a frown while she wrapped her scarves even tighter around herself while she walked around wherever the staircase had taken her. She didn’t even notice the stairs’ disappearance until a few minutes later. After a while of searching, Jay stopped to look down. Tendrils of wispy fog rolled by her and she furrowed her brows. Had the fog been here the entire time? Well, it hardly surprised her.

I wonder where Senga and Iyari are? The thought crept in naturally, slowly, without Jay’s knowing until it was too late. She shook her head furiously to drive away the stubborn question. Jay wasn’t going to worry about them anymore. She was going to be independent. She was going to grow up.

All such notions, however, seemed to poof once she noticed a certain conquest soldier.

OvO

Quietly, she crept over and then jump-hugged Zhi, her arms wrapping around his neck as she gave him a quick peck. “Hey.” OvO

It was probably too much to hope that standing as near as he was to the students who were all beginning to group together on one side of the cavernous room he would go unnoticed at least a while longer. Just long enough to fully wrap his head around the current situation. Trapped in a room full of hunters and horsemen and students, with none of his original companions or new ones to be seen, though the fog could have been to blame for that. His height really held no advantage for him here.

"Xiu." He replied to the ghoul with all the enthusiasm he could currently muster, which really wasn't much, and while the physical comfort of a hug from the ghoul was welcome, his eye couldn't help but lock on the boil she had just been speaking to that was standing just beyond.

When she pulled away from him he tried his best to give her a reassuring smile, to show her that he was fine even though he was far from it. Her inspection would only reveal a somehow tired looking zombie in tattered and bloody clothing that appeared to be physically sound. He took the opportunity to sweep his own gaze over her as well, deciding that she looked well enough, considering the circumstances.

And then she was drawing him back towards Yin, and it was as though he was helpless to stop her, just following along complacently even though inwardly he was cringing away, not ready to face him just now, not after what he'd done.

"Physically? At the moment I feel fine." Was his quiet and delayed response towards Xiu's question. How could she seriously be asking him how he'd been? Obviously not well, considering what was happening.

"I'll be doing a lot better when this is all over." That was always assuming it would be over at some point. A voice was calling out to Xiu now and he shifted his gaze towards the cowboil who was approaching, before going back to Yin, finally.

"Are you....better now?" A whispered question, one that really couldn't hide his concern or worries. Even while he stood there, his memories continued to flash towards their last encounter, and it was all he could do not to close his eye and turn away, just to try and make it stop.

The Conquest Horseman was already quite tense about being in the presence of a bunch of Hunters, so when he felt someone jump on his back, arms sliding around his neck...well, his first instinct was to grab the figure's arm, throw them to the ground, and pin them down.

...Fortunately, the peck stopped him before he could do anything that he would regret. There was only one person he knew that would do that.

With a sigh of relief, the horseman let his arms--which had begun to move up in preparation to throw the figure--drop to his sides. "Jay, you scared me! Are you okay?" He dropped down to a crouch in case the horsewoman wanted to slide off his back, though Zhi was frowning as he let his dark eyes scan the surrounding area. "As okay as we can be in a place full of those hunters, I mean? I don't know what it is that we're waiting for, but if any of them try anything, then..."

He trailed off, promptly shaking off the serious demeanor he had just shown in favour of a much more familiar one. Mouth splitting into a wide grin, he picked Jay up and gave her a big hug, briefly squishing his cheek against his. "I'm glad I'm finally not alone anymore, ahaha~"

"I think we're all just about ready for this to be over," She agreed with a little grimace, nodding in reply to Alex's response, "I just hope..." She just hoped that everything would be fine once this was all over. No more insanity-corrupted students, no more crazy insanity monsters, no more fog...

...Though this was probably all too much to ask for. At the very least, some kind of hint towards a cure would definitely be desirable.

Xiu opened her mouth to say something else, only to be interrupted by a familiar voice calling her name. Pink eyes growing round, she briefly glanced over to where the cowboil was, and then turned back to Alex, giving the zomboil a gentle squeeze on the arm and offering Yin a small smile before moving a few steps away. Like Alex, Mot was greeted by a hug.

"Mot, there you are!" She gave him a tight squeeze before drawing back, ears drooping slightly, "Where have you been all this time? I saw you run into the Haunted House, so I wanted to follow after and make sure that you were safe and sound, but..."

"Home."

The horsemen heard the voice first, and only the horsemen once more. It came from not one place but everywhere. It called to them in a flicker of a moan, a series of pleas, cries, shouts, suddenly so overwhelming the entire landscape shifted, flickered -

- The brilliant cascading landscape of the Imperial Palace of Conquest, a thousand lilies in full bloom -

- The thick forges of Death, warm and pulsating, brimming with life, culture -

- The lush forests of War, a ragged pile row of fences littered around the canopy, protecting, closed -

- The deep, dank colonies of Famine, hundreds of figures scurrying -

- And then another cry, low and painful.

Home.

For a moment, the horsemen were no longer in a strange cold abyss. They were no longer lost, no longer forgotten, no longer driven by singular revenge.

They were home.

HORSEMEN OOC

HORSEMEN:

- If you are a HORSEMEN, you feel the fog wrap around you, but it doesn't matter. All you see is your old Four Clans home. You are now in SOLO MODE. NOONE ELSE CAN SEE YOU the fog has ISOLATED you.
- Simply POST any snippet that you want to make up from your character's past, when they were a part of the old Four Clans isles. The memory overwhelms your character and you see nothing else

The students were not the only ones left in the fog.

The flare of glowing weapons, confusion, loud warning shouts, figures in white milling about. The Hunters had also found the canyon: a mostly tight circle, most using the element around them to hide. Wait. The closer ones looked grim, upon seeing the students, others shifting, reaching for their weapons, a crude formation. Waiting.

The flare of brilliant blue, lightning-fast, was the only warning a single figure broke the formation, lunging forward, the attack digging deep into the crumbling grey abyss. The shockwave sailed high, past the last of the students, hitting the far end of the canyon walls.

And suddenly, for the most veteran of Hunters, they were there, at the place for many of them where it all began. After one year and everything they had experienced: pains, joys, deaths, seemed almost surreal and distant.

They were back where they had started-

- And the Death lead demanded their each and every attention. There was however, something very wrong, from the way the fog shifted, just slightly, to the way everything almost grew more dull. Hollow. Silent. An invisible force peering down, just waiting for the right moment.

It felt like he was waiting.

And then, an even stranger song, loud and haunting. It made everything slow down, quiet and sluggish, as if peering through a single distorted telescope, visibly pushing the fog back further, making it recoil, wind back on itself, as even the sheer cliffs seemed to vibrate, crumble, peel -

- "Dissipate them." That same cold, meticulous voice that simply demanded time and time again. The scythe weapon was directed at the students gathered together. An impassive expression. "Kill the students. Each and every one of them."

When it came to Caelius, it was always hard to tell why.

[Entering]

Stairs. Stairs that wound on forever into fog and darkness. To pass through that door had ended up not being the challenge she had expected it to be - just that lingering sense of guilt. She could hear voices as she continued on down, pausing and reaching out for an invisible guard rail once or twice as she descended, only to find herself holding onto a hand that kept her upright.

It kind of concerned her, but the fog had been concerning as was. Never the less, all things lead to the same end and in this case it came in the form of a dark ground beneath her feet, leaving Shehk to tap her toes against it testingly before she looked around.

She'd heard voices, after all, was there anybody there she would be happy to see after all of this mess?

((Enter Tseng?))

Down the steps Tseng went. For just a moment, he saw masses of others. Some students. Some hunters. But it didn't last long. He heard a voice saying 'home' from somewhere around, and soon the fog washed over him. He didn't know what was happening, but soon... it didn't matter.

The horseman came to a stop as he saw the lush Palace of Conquest off in the distance. Ponds and bridges surrounded him. It was the home he had lost. That they all had lost. Slowly, a big smile overtook his features and he began to walk on through the land. Was this real? It... kind of didn't matter at the moment. He missed this place so much. Granted, the lair and the reserve were alright in their own regards, but nothing would ever replace the island that had been lost.

Tentatively, he crouched down by the pond's edge and gently lifted up a lily. He could really feel it in his hands. Looking it over for a few moments, he carefully set it back into the water and looked around. He was really here. A sort of twinkle could be seen in his eyes as he soon rushed off, seeking out the training grounds and dojo he often went to. He bounded over the land, performing several flips as he ran as quickly as he could. Once at the threshold, he came to a stop, taking a moment to catch his breath. Within, he saw his mother waiting for him. A soft, knowing smile touched her lips as she beckoned him to come.

No sign of Yuzhi. But she was likely off studying with Father somewhere.

Smirking, he took in a deep breath, then broke off into a run to make the opening move.

"SOARING EAGLE!" he cried out as he leaped into the air.

Rep looked up to Cael in as far as it was possible to look up to a psycho who would murder him as quick as look at him - which incidentally for Rep, was a lot. He could have hugged the death lead as he spoke. Kill them all.

The order was exactly what he'd been dying to hear, it was all that mattered to him. He didn't recognise the canyon where they were, didn't care for anything but the command.

<>

Tracey agreed.

He just needed to stay alive till Harrison caught up. And he would. The alternatives didn't bear thinking about.

Stalking out into the students, massive axe held out by his side, he sought himself something to murder.

It was like being swept away rather suddenly as soon as she made her arrival. Feet stepped away from the steps she'd been moving down while fuming at the fact that the apparition of her parent was trying to argue something with her. It was rather infuriating and upsetting when she thought of it - this figure was a pale imitation. Not real.

Yet, as she was swept away she didn't even get to focus on her surroundings anymore and her vision was filled with home. This home. This one home that she'd always known. Her heart gave quick soft beats of excitement.

One moment she was upset, feeling confusion and loss. She didn't even get to dwell on whether or not she'd see her companions again. She was home.

Yuzhi was in the study with Father and they were debating on the differences within their culture and that of the Death Clan. It was an amicable debate and she could almost hear her Brother and her Mother sparring in the open court somewhere nearby. It was heart warming. It was wonderful.

Suddenly Father switched topics on her.

"Have you found any new tales?" He asked her.

Her eyes became focused on the figure before her, small and meek looking, unassuming and soft spoken. It was amazing that her Father had even found a suitable wife to settle with because in most situations he might have been passed up or unnoticed but Mother had noticed him.

"Yuyu?" Her father asked trying to get an answer out of her.

She shook her head as if to clear her thoughts, "Yes, Father, I have found a couple of new tales, and I even scribed some down from my latest travels," she murmured softly. Yuzhi was shy about sharing her manuscripts even with her Father.

His response was just a quiet patient stare until Yuzhi finally relented. She stood up on her feet and wandered off to her own shelf to bring out her latest manuscript for her Father to read. He was eager to accept the bound papers and was soon leafing through them and reading, very much absorbed.

Yuzhi sat near her parent, anxious but content.

HALLOWEEN:

"GET DOWN!"

It wasn't a request: it was an order. You find yourself hitting the floor regardless as a colorful shape jumps over you. That much color can only mean one thing: you're not alone.

As you rise to your feet, you watch as the Boogeymen charge and began to clash against the hunters, drawing them back away from you and into the fog. You can hear the sounds of fighting, feel the sizzle and crackle in the air of spells being cast. Wait -- was that one of your professors just now?!

Either way, despite their (somewhat late) arrival, they are at least occupying a good chunk of the Hunters present. It's just too bad that there are still hunters left over!

You think you see something flicker out of the corner of your eye.

Roll 1d6. You can only do this IF you are a student! This is also a one-time thing.

1:
You note a flash of color, only to realize that it's a stray shot! OW!

Take 2 damage.

2:

You see a large splotch of color. As you continue to stare, you see flecks of another, smaller and glowing color join them. Then the colors disappear.

3:
You see a flash of color. It's small, glowing, and oh Jack it's a hunter! You barely had enough time to get out of the way of their attack before a larger flash of color overtakes them and drags them further into the fog, away from you. Whew! That was close.

4:
You hear a loud scream that is suddenly cut off. Oddly enough, you feel... better.

Regain 10% Fear.

5:
You see a distinct lack of color. Or rather you see something, but it's gray... and it's gone before you can get another look. You feel different.

Gain 10% Insanity.

6:

Something nearly slams into you! It manages to pull itself up short, and you realize it's a boogeyman. They give you a quick look-over before throwing a spell at you. In a moment they dashed away. You feel better.

Recover 15 HP.

The OOC

- Help has arrived! It looks like the Boogeymen are distracting/taking care of a majority of the Hunters.
- Same battle mechanics follow as usual -
- You will fight IN THIS THREAD! Insanity will not warp you elsewhere.
- You can attack a target THREE TIMES! After that, wait!
- You may or may not see your Professors who may or may not lend some assistance!
