Briella nodded. Yes Maya had a radaku, and although she didn't find them all that pleasing she could see how one would make an excellent mount. They were protective of those who they bonded with and made good fighters, she could kind of remember Maya telling her a story about her radaku protecting her once. Then again she wasn't sure if it was Maya or another sister. "Do a lot of them import them?" she wondered.
When Dyakida asked if Biroki had left and Zuri answered she wondered if the other girls realized she was asking because she couldn't see him leave. Hopefully not. If they realized it Briella thought of a few things she could say that would make it seem as if she said it for other reasons.
She was listening to the others speak when she heard the yelp, and it seemed Aminah heard it as well. Part of her wanted to check on him, but part of her didn't. She would leave it up to Dyakida. "Maybe we should stay here and guard our spot and the two of you go after them. Or we could come with. What do you think Dya?"

Ah. he had left. Good to confirm that. He had been very abrupt. Yes he had said that he was getting more water, but she hadn't thought he would be so... abrupt about it. He really was absurdly and incomprehensibly full of nerves.
She didn't think that it was a realistic hope that nobody noticed her blindness. It was sort of obvious. She wasn't going to draw any more attention to it than she did naturally though. But she was past trying to pretend that it wasn't a thing. That way led to bloody scrapes and bruises.
Radaku, huh. Radaku made excellent pets. better than spitorogs. But anything was better than spitorogs. "Do they do well in the Tale?" Radaku were creatures of the jungle, and the Tale was a dry desert. She had never taken care of a Radaku, but perhaps she should ask Maya about how she took care of Pacju? having a Radaku or, really, any large creature would be helpful in navigating. "Do the Poscutta or Aldabuck have any... specific uses? other than as pets?"
"Lost?" somehow she was incredulous. "I'll stay here and drink this tea." hers was at a perfect temperature and she had barely touched it. "And guard, of course. she quirked a smile. Not that she could do much but enjoy her tea and her company.

Biroki stayed very still, hoping that whatever it was would lose interest in him and go away. He stared at the gleaming eyes, like jewels in the gloom. A shaft of sunlight lanced through the canopy to the river next to him as a branch cracked away overhead. It was caught by other branches in the canopy, but it's short-lived legacy of sunlight remained. Biroki's breathing grew a bit labored. Staying very still took more out of a body than it ought. Every muscle was tensed to run, his heart beat quickly. His mind raced.
The eyes came closer. Slowly, barely perceptibly, closer. In the dim glow of the jungle and the light reflecting off of the stream he could see it's long snout and claws. He could see it's horns now, too, long and jagged by It was a radaku, or something like it. A big feral one. A REALLY big one. It watched him with a mix of wary curiousity and cold, calculating, predatoriness.
It stopped about a foot away from the frozen Biroki and sniffed at him for a moment. It chuffed, it's tail waving gently. It looked at him briefly with it's glowing eyes, it's breath warm on Biroki's face. And then it opened it's mouth to reveal it's sharp teeth, dripping with saliva and backed up a little, bunching for a lunge.
That was when Biroki screamed.

Aminah was about to answer Dyakida's questions when her words were cut short by a scream piercing the air. Aminah could feel her body tense and her mind raced. Oh no! She jumped up from her spot on the floor grabbing her staff as she went and turned to Zuri. "I think it's time to go!"
Aminah plunged into the tangle of woods in the direction of Biroki's scream and hoped that at least Zuri was behind her now. She didn't take the time to look, and her own footsteps along with the crunch of the forest around her flooded her ears, pounding out in her head.
She had to find Biroki and make sure he was safe.

She really didn't think that Dyakida should be asking so many questions at this very time, both her and Aminah were up and ready to go after Biroki. She was about to say something when she heard the scream, a scream she personally had never wanted to hear. It was Biroki's, and it seemed to be filled with terror. Although she had forgotten all about it she suddenly remembered her spear and grabbed it before setting off towards the direction Biroki had gone earlier and not Aminah was going.
"Where are you?" She screamed as she ran. Maybe the noise of the two approaching women would scare off whatever had Biroki so scared, or at least distract it away from him. Plus if he answered it would make it easier for them to find him, and they needed to find him as soon as possible. She didn't know what she would do if he were hurt.

When Biroki screamed and the two earthlings ran off to find him she sighed. He was so nervous, it was very likely that nothing more then a small bug had him so worked up. Really, he was a failure of a man if he could even call himself that. She needed to meet a really one, for he surely didn't count. She moved a little bit closer to Dyakida. "I hope she answers me when they get back from saving him. I really do wonder about these mounts. It would be interesting to have one." She thought carefully, it would make attacking easier. Though the bird would be best for archers and not much more in her opinion.
She wondered about what had Biroki so worked up, and if it wasn't for Dyakida being there she would have left to satisfy her curiosity, but in case it was something dangerous and it decided to come their way it was best she was there to guard their things as well as her sister.

Biroki had been tensed to do something, and he managed to roll out of the way before the Radaku's jaws could clamp onto him. It's claws nicked him as he tried to scramble away, stumbling on a pile of wet leaves in his panic and dropping the kettle of water. He glanced back, panicked as the Radaku watched him, stalking around him to try to get him from the side. "N-no!" he yelped, scrambling backwards before getting to his feet and trying to run again. It lashed out with it's tail, and Biroki tripped, managing to land on his hands. It pounced and Biroki, panicked, raised his hands up in defence, calling on... no screaming... at his magic to DO SOMETHING. Sparks spewed from his hands for one glorious second, startling the radaku back. The stream of sparks stopped almost as soon as they had begun, fading to nothing as they hit the wet mossy ground. The radaku, temporarily blinded, squinted at it's prey, calculating. It took another cautious step towards Biroki. Biroki swallowed. If he got up, it would be on him in seconds. If he ran, it would catch him. His magic had failed. He felt frozen.

Dyakida hadn't thought there was an issue until the shifter screamed. She heard them rush away and heard them call out to him. Well, she supposed it wasn't really any of her business. She drank her tea. "Do you think, Briella, that I could ride something, even...?" She liked her feet, and was getting better at avoiding pitfalls, but even if just for a moment... "I think it would be interesting to ride a creature." She mimed drawing a bow. "Wielding a sharp weapon while charging on a large creature..." she mimed letting it loose... at nothing in particular of course. "Would be like being both bow and arrow. It sounds exhilerating... but I don't think that it would be practical in Jahuar..." Yes, there was always the Radaku, but... "Too many trees to run into" as she had found out through experience.

((haha I totally love this split between frantic earthlings and totally nonchallant Alkidike))
Aminah's blood was pounding in her ears. She couldn't be more worried for Biroki and crashed through the forest looking for him. She didn't know where Zuri had gone off too, but wasn't sure that she was behind her anymore. She heard another yelp and fixed her course.
A shot of lightning exploded from the trees behind Biroki and sparked the ground at the radaku's feet. Aminah ran foward with her wand extended. "Biroki! Are you ok?"
She was panting, sweat starting to form on her forehead.

Although she had split up from Aminah, in the end they were at the same spot. Zuri had got there just in time to catch Biroki's display of magic, although it wasn't much. She jummped in from of him, holding her spear out. Her with her spear and Aminah with her wand were a scary sight, or at least she thought so. Hopefully the radaku would think so too and leave them be.
"Are you okay? Did it get you?" she asked Biroki never taking her eyes off the creature. She didn't like to fight, and even less she liked to kill, but she would do what was nessasary to keep him safe.

Briella thought carefully about her answer before speaking again to her sister."I think it is an interesting thought, on you should not let go of so quickly. Some mounts yes would be too big to work in Jahuar, but if you got an animal that was native then it would work just fine." she said with a nod. A mounted Dyakida would be deadly. "Or maybe this bird, the kinfa, would be a good mount. I think one of those or a Radaku would be best, though it would have to be trained first. Of which I could attempt to do." she offered with a laugh. She wasn't sure how good of a job she would do.
(haha yes it is too funny!)

Dyakida's keen ears twitched as she heard the shouts and calls of the earthlings. She sipped her cooling tea, managing to polish it off. She hoped Biroki would return soon. That had been good tea. "Perhaps... yes, a Radaku would be handy." She smiled, "They are very large and make excellent guides..." She placed the empty cup down on the rock carefully, being sure that it would remain there and not clatter to the ground. "I don't believe Maya's Pacju likes me very much, and I seem to remember that someone else's radaku was not fond of me..." it was a while ago though. She wasn't so thrilled as she thought about the idea further. Exhilerating, yes. But she would have trouble getting her bearings if she went too fast... That was not a favorable situation, and could lead to becoming lost... Or worse! Not ducking at a branch. "Perhaps that kinfa would be a better plan, however." she said, "Yes. I think so. We should ask if they are docile creatures when tamed..."

The radaku took another step forward, then another, then another, then paused, lifting a paw away from the lighting strike. It surveyed the newcomers, then back to it's prey, calculating.
Biroki tried to gasp out a response. Oh thank Serin. Zuri and Aminah. His heart fluttered in his chest like some kind of small bug, and it strangled his breath. He could only watch the Radaku's movements. Would it kill him still? Was he saved?
The Radaku was uncertain. The shifter in front of it was weak. Easy prey, even with the lightshow. But the earthlings that rushed to his aide were not. One wielded lighting, the other wielded a sharp stick. The Radaku growled, but the scales had been rebalanced. Was it hungry enough to risk it? It's brain told it no. It should leave this prey and find other, better prey. Its stomach told it yes, oh yes. But it no longer had a clear shot. Threat, yes threat. It took a cautious step forward, bristling.
Biroki made a strangled whimper. Save him, strong women, for he was weak.

Aminah was surprised that the radaku advanced on with all three of them there now. Her grip tighened on her staff and she advanced forward a step, ready to protect Biroki and Zuri if it came down to it.
Her face was pulled into stern concentration and she pointed her staff at the radaku, hoping the unspoken warning would be enough to scare it off. Unfortunately for her, Aminah was less than intimidating looking by nature.
Her eyes flitted to Biroki, trying to assess that he was alright before returning to the radaku and waiting for its response. She hoped that it wouldn't come down to using more force. This radaku was just hungry, though it had chosen the wrong meal today.

She bared her teeth, ready to come at the radaku. She would not let Biroki be hurt, and even though she was not all that found of Aminah due to the jealous feelings she felt towards the woman, she didn't want her to get hurt.
Luckily for the three of them the radaku seemed like it was about to move away. If it had any brains in it's head it would see that it didn't stand a chance, and although they just wanted to scare it away she had no problem killing it if that was what had to happen. "Leave!" she screamed. Hopefully by being loud would help scare away the radaku. She could only hope.
