[Carltis]
Grab and shove; there was a bit more too it than that of course but those were the base mechanics; the weyrling went out of the ring and the first point was his, not that he was especially proud of it. Rochelle cheering him was nice, but it didn't make him feel better. At least perhaps he could tell Aleck that his track record for 'not getting beaten up by small women' had improved when he finally found the man.
Moving back into position Carltis nodded stiffly to his opponent, ready for round two.

[Kleos]
As her flirelizards took off to play Kleos nodded seriously to Cai; "A fine choice of craft, we shall need such experts desperately. "As for the gather," the blonde's expression lightened again, "I am finding myself rather enjoying it, as much for what it means as for the stalls and the entertainment. By celebrating together, I hope we can come together and forge stronger ties. One day we may take back the homes we lost but for the present we are one Weyrs, and if we are to thrive we must act like one."

Yes, I agree completely. There are lots enjoying the day. I shall let Mine know to keep an eye out for Yours! And Tyeth's. Cepheith replied cheerfully to Suunath. She sent her fellow Gold a warm feeling of pleasure at having her there before her attention returned to Plexith.
Truly, they very much deserve a day such at this. They take too much onto their shoulders. A bit of fun will do them much good. She replied in her honey-warm tones. Whatever lingering sadness and anger had remained dissipated with Plexith's sincere words. Cepheith turned her head towards the bronze, silent for a good minute before responding with true affection and gratitude. I dearly hope that I can be all that for my dragons. You are right, though. Thank you, Plexith. She crooned softly in thanks as well, feeling quite relaxed and...happy.
Cepheith's head twisted as a new greeting was heard. Aerith! How are you and yours settling? Come join us, if you like. We'd never say no to having another join us. She added with a hint of amusement but much warmth. The Gold had never saw any reason to shun one color over another. They were all her dragons. I hope yours is enjoying this fine day!

Z'fer
Z'fer's eyebrow shot up when she went to remove her own shirt, smirk spreading to a grin then a hearty laugh."Thanks! Yours as well!" Sure her spikes crop was nothing like his mane but she might appreciate the difference and, being the same color as his own, he couldn't claim dislike.
Hazel grey eyes watched her movements carefully, he shook out his own arms, feet inching apart as she began her predatory circle. The crowd faded away as his blood sang with adrenaline. Even Calanoth's sleepy touch in his mind woke to alertness, not distracting but seeming to meld with his own senses. He waited for her to make the first move.
There! She lunged and Z'fer fell into a crouch, suddenly shrinking his surface area and digging his boots into the sand. Just as quickly he shoved hard, meeting her forward motion with his own momentum, angling his shoulder towards her chest, intent on knocking her down. She was strong, maybe more so than he'd initially assessed. While she hadn't gained any ground on him, neither did he on her.
Z'fer could feel her hands on his body and shifted, he didn't want her getting a good grip on his leg.

[Siata]
Having a man that actually knew how to go about the sport was something of a treat. The leap forward was somewhat surprising - not on the grounds that Z'fer wasn't supposed to know how to fight, just because having a guy jump at her was something a bit out of the ordinary for her life. Thankfully for her sternum and lungs, Siata had been ducking down to grab at his leg when he lunged. A little turn of her shoulders lefty him clipping at her collarbone and shoulder; it sent a quick stab of pain up her shoulder. She stumbled, didn't quite lose her balance.
The smithcrafter rubbed at her shoulder for a second, her shoulder rolling with a grumble. But the fight must go on and, to be fair, he got her shoulder. Siata grinned, crouched, and dove at him again.

Z'fer
She was good. He gave her credit for that. The first match alone was shaping up to be better than he'd expected. "Heh." He took the moment she rubbed her shoulder to roll his own. Checking her was like checking Malvren's cliffs. He'd felt the bone on bone impact and while he didn't regret the decision, against the smith, that may not be the best tactic.
He didn't get long to mull it over as she dove again, still on the offensive. Z'fer bent as if to repeat his same move but as they made contact he shifted his weight to the side and out of her direct path. He felt his scarred calf give a warning twinge as the muscles were abused so and hoped this move worked.

------------------------------------------------------ Chrysicai
Cai nodded. "Don't get me wrong I think the Gather is a good idea. There's just a lot of work that still needs to be done. I agree with you though, as much as I want to go back to Benden, being here could be good for all of us. So long as people pull their heads out of their arses and take advantage of it." There was almost a sadistic pride to her next words. "Just watch as what they thought would bring us down actually makes us stronger."
Her hand's toyed with the laces that tied her bag shut. She liked Kleos but just standing and talking wasn't something Cai did very well. "Is there anything in particular you were looking for?" She glanced at the stalls around them. Even shopping would be doing something productive right now.

[Siata]
Center of balance achieved and to great triumph! Sort of, kind of. Z'fer seemed to be smarting from the blow as much as Siata; being built like the each same brickhouse did not bode well for dive tackling and slamming with shoulders. Everything could be better with evenly matched people - better than Carltis and his little girlie thing.
Then he bent and Siata went down. A sidestep was unexpected and ended up with her on her back. She grinned (and groaned), pushing herself p into a crouch... which was probably not the best idea, admittedly, she felt slightly dizzy from the abruptness of her spine and head meeting hard ground.
This time, she didn't dive at him straight off, close to the edge of the ring or not. Diving and missing again could mean flying out anyway. No, time to use sheer strength, may as well. It would be a fun resort, seeing as he stood as tall and wide as her, if not more so. Siata moved to grab him - shoulders, arm, anything - and get leverage in some way to get him down on the ground.
But, shards. Her ears rang.

Z'fer
Z'fer felt a wild surge of satisfaction as the muscular woman went down. A low rumble of support issued from his dragon who during the match, had risen from his sleeping spot and settled outside of the crowd to watch. A wordless thanks to his lifemate and Z'fer's attention was back on Siata as she rose from the ground. He crouched again, preparing himself for another direct assault. Like mad herdbeast, this woman was strong but all of her attacks were head on charges. If she kept that up he was sure he would win.
There were brains within that skull as well. Z'fer was caught off guard by the grapple, her sudden weight on his bad side making him topple effortlessly and in a most humiliating fashion.

[Siata]
Not so many brains, really. She had brute force and an eye for weak metals, along with the ability to not really care if she went headfirst into the ground. He had two inches height-wise and experience enough to know she had none. Bar brawls were not proper out and outs but she'd thrown her share of men across the bar tables in her time.
Z'fer went down and Siata, trying to keep a hold, went with him. She grunted again, hands hitting the ground with jarring shake. ******** and ow. The smith used her weight to hook a leg over one of his, sitting back and trying to grab the mans hands to pin him. ...granted, it was not without room to mess up

Even with thick wiry muscle making her heavier then she looked Hekate still flew out of the ring at the hard throw. Twisting mid-roll she flipped effortlessnly back onto her feet. The hot heat of Devith's temper washed through her as she shook the sand from herself and charged back in feinting at the front. Only to side step and try and shove at the man's side hard in hopes that when he lunged for her the solid movement would off balance him and sent him toppling out of the ring.
(Hekate is well muscle, but slim and acrobat like
+1 if your character is particularly strong, well-muscled, buff -1 if your character is slight, svelte, slim, dainty, delicate..

She was quicker than he was, he'd credit her with that much, and with some tactical thinking. When it came down to it however a brave showing from a small lightly built woman wasn't going to cut it; Carltis recovered his balance in a step, dropped his shoulder and rammed at her mid section, aiming to send her flying out of the ring. As he shoved, he grunted; "Nice try, but no cigar."

While Hekate was fast enough to avoid most of the blow, the man's lower shoulder still clipped her sending the young woman spinning and seeing sparks as she was thrown from the ring. Instinct kicked in though and despite the bruises she could feel forming Hekate rolled and curled springing back in an elegant showing to her feet and shrugging.
"You don't learn anything by just sitting on the sidelines." She replied once more shaking the sand from herself as Devith seethed in her mind his claws cutting rivets in the sand where he lay, but the silver made no move to rise.
Were this true combat you would have won. You are faster. You would have had a fist under his jaw in seconds with that last charge. the young dragon rumbled his dissatisfaction.
True, but as much as I hate losing you learn more lessons from a loss then you do a victory. Besides we put on a rather excellent showing. She assured her dragon giving Carltis a nod as she circled around to collect her partner stroking the irate silver's eyeridges with a loving hand and a rather wickedly amused smile.
Ah it seemed the weyrling's cheer had once more taken on the slightly darker tone her friend recognized. It was probably for the best though, it seemed Hekate's unbridled cheer along with her dragons had been starting to unnerve people.
You were quite magnificent Mine. Next time perhaps~ Devith rumbled as the pair made their way over to Dizzian keeping half an eye out on how Z'fer was doing. "Want to get back to shopping once he's finished his match? I think I could go for some nice cold juice." Hekate said as she stepped up to her friends side with a grin Devith checking up on his sister to make sure she had not been jostled. Once he was satisfied she had not he settled to watch with a low content thrum.

Carltis stepped out of the ring and dusted his hands off, heading over to Rochelle. "Well that was brief," he snorted, "maybe the next match will be more interesting." It had been kind of like being assaulted by a puppy; sharp little teeth that could give a nasty n** but on the whole far more 'dawww' than a threat of any kind.
Adjusting his pirate patch he grinned down at the curvy girl. "So did you enjoy the show? How's Siata doing against that tall bugger?"

//Special encounter!// "Flitt eggs! Geeeeet your flitt eggs here! Almost ready to hatch, just an eighth mark! Geeet your flitts eggs here!" The small man who moved through the crowds gave the appearance of scuttling, even when a tight knot of people - potential punters! - caused him to pause in place for a few moments. There was something desperate and rodent like about him, but the wooden tray filled with sand he wore with a harness definitely contained what looked like flitt eggs! "Only a few gen-you-ine flitt eggs left for sale!" the salesman crowed again. "When they're gone they're gone, and you won't see a better deal again ladies and gents!" [[- First person to post interest by rolling a d10 may approach the totally honest flitt egg vendor. - In your post roll a d10 to see if you spot anything suspicious (you do so if you roll 8,9 or 10). - If you don't, then you can take a chance and choose for your character to purchase an egg, which may well turn out to be dodgy. (1 egg per character per encounter, will either be a true dud, a tunnelsnake egg, or a real flit egg! This will be rolled in the thread. Buying an egg this way costs 1/8th mark). Alternatively you can choose not to buy, and the next player to roll d10 gets a chance.- If you do spot something suspicious, you might just be able to persuade the shady merchant to part with a real flitt egg for sure by paying 1/4 Mark). Alternatively you can choose not to buy, and the next player to roll d10 gets a chance.- Look on the front page to see how much your character has to spend. Please keep a running tally of how much you have at the top or bottom of your posts once you've spent something!]]

Kindra heard the calling and turned her head, as tough as she liked to think of herself, she quite liked flits. She left N'mol's side for the moment, he'd follow her if he wanted to, and went over. "Oh hello, i don't think i've seen you about, you came in on a trader caravan? I must thank you for your support of Trine in these times" she said diplomatically, she wasn't a native Trine rider but as a Goldrider she had to show SOME sort of diplomacy. "Do you know if they were a Gold's clutch or a Green's?" she asked, looking into the wooden tray, she frowned a little since ... well they'd be cooling fast in there. "How much?" she asked, wanting to perhaps save at least one of them little creatures perhaps.
Kindra 10 marks - Jr Weyrwoman Spent - 1/8th mark .. Has 9 Marks plus a Half Mark and three 1/8th marks remaining

"One eighth mark to you young lady," the vendor beamed, "go ahead and choose which one you like best! Gold clutch, they are, but I haven't been able to sell them on the way here - travelling trader, you've got me bang to rights! - and I've got to sell them all before they hatch see! I can't afford more mouths to feed, and that's why you're getting such a good deal! Really I'm cutting my own throat, but what's a man to do, eh? Here's your change miss, I hope you have a good day!"
