Remy laughed, and grinned at the girl.
"True, but how could they resist our cuteness?" she asks in a teasing tone.
The skirt of her dress was swaying with them as they danced, moving as if it was dancing as well.

"True!" Shina laughed. Then she slipped her hand down just a bit and dipped the other girl for a moment, before pulling her back up and sending them both spinning out. Back, and left hip to left hip, rock back, swivel, right hip to right hip, saucy look, bump hip into a spin out, back in, resume normal steps! Under the edge of Shina's mask, her cheeks were pinking up a bit, her blood running high with good cheer.

Devn watched as a particularly recognizable redhead sweeped his way. He greeted her with a half-smile, glad to have someone recognize his presence. He really had nothing to do. There was Phinelia and Colton, Jayden and Tristain, and others that were obviously there together. having a good time. It is not like he had the beautiful blonde girl he had met during his first year. So, even though she was not there, Cathryn provided a happy medium, being a good friend of his and all. When she talked, he obviously responded, the words obviously sounding facetious.

"Oh yes, this is exactly how I want to spend my evening, alone and dateless," he joked with her, laughing out loud. He then looked over her attire. She looked quite nice today, beautiful even.

"You look beautiful tonight Cathryn," he told her, speaking nothing but the truth. She did look nice, but sitting with the girl made him think about how beautiful Annabelle would have looked. He didn't know why, but he honesty couldn't get his mind off of her.

Amanda smirked before agreeing with Leonidas. "Yeah, guess so," she said, referring to them both knowing what it's like to raise themselves. When Leonidas asked for her to enjoy the moment, she gave hi a small smile and continued dancing with him.

Cathryn smiled a radiant smile, the compliment from Devin meaning a lot to her. She felt her cheeks changing to a color similar to her hair. The blush was mostly covered by her mask, but not completely. "Uh, thanks Devin! You, too... Er- except handsome... Not beautiful... Gah..." She laughed at her inability to form a comprehensible sentence. He did look handsome, with his gold mask and fancy suit. Well, he always looked more handsome, but more so now."Hey, I guess I cured your loneliness!" she joked. Quickly, her pitch black eyes scanned the room, double checking that Chase was not here. When she confirmed that he had still not arrived, she turned back to her friend. She absentmindedly twirled a stray curl that had come undone. "Let's talk Quidditch, why don't we? You've played Chaser for the past two years, but what about this year? Are the try-outs even over?"

The boy and girl danced in silence for a while, simply enjoying the music and atmosphere. Leonidas thought over the little Amanda had told him, and the little more he had guessed. She was a very interesting person, to be sure. There was far more to her then met the eye, and Leo hadn't even begun to scratch the surface. The music changed to a minuet, a dance he was not too good at, but one Leo enjoyed nonetheless. He smiled, and glanced at Amanda to make sure that she was still okay with dancing. On an impulse, afraid he was stepping out of line, he carefully spun her, enjoying the way her simple dress twirled around her, then fell back into place as she returned.

"I don't even think they are done yet. We've just had a slow year for our team. So many first years trying out. I was looking forward to seeing that kid Steele play goalkeeper though. He played lacrosse; so he has the hand-eye coordination for it," he told her, not knowing if he should tell a chaser about the goalkeeper, for Cathryn could take advantage of Steele's weaknesses, which Devin already knew. Devin then referred to her first question after realizing he forgot to answer.

"I'm surprised at you Cathryn O'Malley, you never doubted my skill before. I guess I'm not good enough to beat out first years," he joked, winking at her to make sure she knew he was joking. He loved messing around with Cathryn, for she was a good sport. She never got mad, was rational, always looked past the flaws. She's basically a Hufflepuff with a Ravenclaw mind, as weird as that sounds.

With his eyes glued on the drink table and his mind completely elsewhere, Aiden jumped in surprise at the sound of Katariina's musical voice in his ear. Of course he recognized her soothing lilt, but he took a sudden step back nevertheless.

After sighing in relief when he came to his senses, a cheesy grin found its way to his lips and he returned the compliment.
"Kat... Didn't expect t'er see you here. But I'm glad that y'eh are, I'd hate t'er know that such beauty had been wasted on a night like this. You look stunning, love. Truly stunning," he told her with confidence, giving her full height its deserved attention, dress, hair, mask, and all.

"Care t'a accompany me t'er the drink table? I could use a little fire power to start off the night." His voice was more casual now as he eyed the drinks and food again.

"Really?" Tristain exclaimed in response to Jayden's tale of his bilingual education. "That's so fascinating! My father taught me the American game of baseball, but that isn't exactly useful for communication...although it is really fun," she trailed off into laughter, her own words bringing up old memories of playing baseball games with her family in their giant backyard.

Suddenly, Jayden took her hand in his, and asked a question that made her heart skip a beat, but ultimately excited her.
"I'd love to!" She responded with a burst of unusual excitement. Tristain had been a dancer since she was just a little girl, and with all the time she know spent away from home, she scarcely found time for her non-magical hobbies.

With a brilliant smile, the Ravenclaw tugged on the boy's hand and towed him out onto the middle of the dance floor amid several other twirling students. She took her left hand out of his and put it on his shoulder, then gripped his left hand in her right and began to sway comfortably to the music.

"Let me guess, your father taught you how to dance, also?" She asked playfully, taking note of how he moved very gracefully for a boy, and with what seemed like very little effort.

As Amanda and Leonidas danced, she couldn't help but wonder about how it must feel like to have everything you've ever wanted, then suddenly, it all disappears. Amanda's father was quite neglecting, but his sorrow forced him to be an alcohol addict. Leonidas' dad, however, was only neglecting Leonidas for the small fact that he was a wizard and had magical abilities which no muggle would've ever thought could exist. Amanda smoothly followed Leonidas' lead until the song changed. This caught her off guard since her and her partner came to a halt. By twirling with ease, Amanda hoped it showed she was willing to keep dancing, at least for now. As each moment passed, she became more flexible with movement for her body's tension eased.

William Dante Nott the Third

Fourth Year, Slytherin

Painted masks like fabricated lies tainted the scene, swirling restless with fluidity, one crash of waves coursing with life as the hundred individual currents flooded the illustrious wooden floors of the Great Hall. The enchantments and decorations hung elaborately and tediously held little sway on the emotion of the demon masked boy, noticed by many, but only recognized by the few. A sea of smiling faces surrounded the young Slytherin, perched eerily at the nook of the ballroom, many of whom were sincerely guarded under their masks while others flaunted a scarce and bare ensemble. There were two redheads in the crowd that his eyes of marvelous gleaming gold had caught wisp of, each one with a boy. One, a lost love, and the other—well—only a forlorn dream…

”Wha—?” Caught off guard, his sights suddenly torn away from the black swan to greet sway of fleeting white, and masked eyes. ”There are those who know who I am.” His voice infiltrated the ambiance of melodious tune and hearty laughter, a low winding course of British tongue, and it was then, that his eyes had retreated back to the blue masked swan. He hadn’t missed that look that she had given him, and, he wanted her to be sure that it was known.

Jealousy, it had tainted her lips and pooled on her tongue with an ominous threat, leaving her throat raw and burning with poison but she shook it all away. Devin was a gentleman, she knew, and Cathryn—well—she seemed nice enough, ambitious, but not so much so as a Slytherin to really cause for alarm, but, the thoughts of paranoia had always drifted through. She had, of course, heard along through the grape vine that the redheaded fire cracker was in tow with the suave Chase Balford—and that—had left a much harsher taste on her tongue. Chase was the cousin of her best friend, and in all terms and sense of the meaning of friendship, it would have been, just, wrong. Chase had had a certain flair for life that Belle had kept hidden, the same spark of fire that Cat always embodied freely and without fault. The two were practically made for each other…

So why was Belle so jealous?

And now, now the redhead was with Devin and she could only watch. Her hair had been enchanted to give the mysterious hue of dark sable curls shrouding her identity well, and beneath her mask, she fidgeted. Devin truly understood her, was eternally caring and ever loyal, so how could she be jealous? The fifth year Ravenclaw was a notorious flirt, and her own Hufflepuff was a heroic gentleman…

Had she gone mad?

She almost wanted to laugh, for being so irrational. Her fleeting gaze flickered to the pair once more before she decided to wander from one end of the ballroom to the next, alert and wary of passing conversations fleeting by.

Heather reentered the ballroom, feeling a little more confident than before. And what she saw surprised her. There, on the dance floor, was Remy, dancing with another first year girl. Not only that, but they were very good, twirling and moving to the music like pros. She grinned happily, and walked over to them. She clapped her hands lightly a few times, applauding their preformance.
"Wow. I haven't seen you move like that in a while, Rem." she says with a grin.
She didn't intrude on their dance, for she was enjoying watching them have so much fun.

"Nope," he said, twirling her around once then bring her back to eye contact, "That one, Josh taught me." Jayden kept her hand in his, their fingers intertwined, and kept the other hand around her waist properly, figuring that if he was going to dance with her, he was going to do it right. Tristain deserved that much. Jayden got closer to her, as if they were ballroom dancing.

"I had heard baseball games are fun. At least that's what I heard from Josh. Josh had went there to try out the American form of Quidditch," he admitted to her, a smile that was almost hidden by his mask settling on his face. He could not ask for a more perfect night with a more perfect girl. He loved the life he was living and could not ask for any more. He had all that he wanted right here.

The boy seemed distracted, even with the sudden engagement of conversation with words that hinted at games of mental dueling. Those demon framed eyes seemed locked on the swan dancing with a boy large in frame and stature. The way in which the demon boy looked upon the gliding bird dancing in the sea of fiery hair had him curious indeed, but it also brought memories of the only other boy he had seen look at the fiery red head within the corridors of the school while the White Fox lay within the shadows. The boy fit the size but truly the mask was a well designed one and allowed for little in the way of easy detection. Given the brief exchange however the White Fox was not about to turn so easily from such a curious one as this.

"Are there now? It's always good to know there are those who truly know us, but then that always does beg the question," The White Fox's voice seemed to change from the deeper sounds of chaos to the softer tones of such, "Do we really know ourselves?"

The question was posed in its obvious double meaning towards the boy. As the simple and basic philosophical debating phrase that many a person often spoke, and as a more personal question towards the demon boy who seemed almost captivated by the dancing swan.
