Eri laughed out loud knowing he had been proven wrong for all his worrying. “I see well then Jolana. I see your very steady on your hooves for one so young. Alright I’ll leave you in Raz’s care. He’s probably a better teacher than I am anyway.” Eri winked at his little sister. “Now just keep in mind when your chasing a rabbit they are very scared to they run incredibly fast. Sometimes you have to out think them to catch them.” He nudged her off in the direction of their brother and nodded at Raz. He would be fine taking the little filly, and it would give time for Eri and their mother to talk seriously.

She relaxed, knowing that she was here alone with Eri and Desoi. Both were her middle sons, well besides Karit. Lucky, her youngest son was napping so he did not notice that the rest of his siblings left. [[I'm just including that so that it doesn't make it sound awkward that Hound is not here to join us yet.]]

"Well Eri, I am shocked for you to give her up like that." she joked. "I want you to stay here with me. I have been seeing you pass by every once in a while that I was here after all, so wherever you are staying at must surely be nearby?" She knew that it was a large request to ask for her son to remain with her, but he did offer a favor after all. But what if he refused? Or what if he had already settled down with young of his own? "Please tell me about what happened after we separated."

Sharizad watched Karit carefully for a moment, then nodded. She did like her full name a lot, but she was used to her younger siblings calling her Shar all the time. Just as long as he didn't take it into his head to nuzzle her like they all kept doing to Jolana. She didn't like anyone but her parents and occasionally her overly affectionate sister to come near her like that (and only her brother on very, very rare occasions). "Shar is fine. Come on, I'll show you to the pond, the water is good and clear down there, and sometimes if you're real careful you can catch the fish napping in the shallows." It would also give her the chance to listen more to Karit. She wanted to know more about him and his siblings, from his point of view and not from Mother's. She began to walk in the right direction, straight and proud, throwing a look over her shoulder to see if her older brother would be following.

“Mother who am I to stand between my sister spending time with her other brothers, besides I can always play with her later.” He listened to his mother’s pea and felt his heart break. He hadn’t meant to leave her alone. After all so much had gone on in Eri’s life. “Well mother I’m not quite sure where to start or how to answer your question. You see I don’t have a home that I stay in per say, but I do have a place that I would like to go back to and at least visit often.” He felt embarrassed that he was blushing, and yet he couldn’t help it. “Still I would love to come and stay with you. The place I want to visit isn’t so far away. I could live here with you and go see my ..” How could he describe Geneviere Sue? A friend, a possible lover, a angel? “acquaintance.”

He did notice that Shar in fact was probably the alpha of her siblings. Proud and direct. Never before had he ever been near a pond though, for Regalia would tell him that it would only dirty his hooves for staying at the bank. There wasn't much to say on this walk, for she was already ahead, so he casually followed, just like an older brother watching over his younger sister. His mind was running with the idea of seeing his first fish, and maybe even napping! As he caught the glimpse of her turning back to check up on him, he playfully trotted up to her, but giving a good enough distance away from each other. It was best to not make himself look like he was just here to have a walk beside her like a newborn's relationship to its mother - too clingy.

It took for a while to take in his words. Was that a no? No. It was a maybe. Not wanting to look disappointed, she smiled at his words of an acquaintance of his. It was obvious that there was probably something more than that from his little moment of silence to say the word. In a way, she forgot about how much he had grown. He no longer needed a mother. He was like almost a stranger to her in a way.

"I understand son. A mother knows what's best for her young and I agree with you. You should be able to travel on your own to visit your family as much as you please." Making sure that Desoi was alright, he nuzzled his small muzzle. "Your father would be so proud to see you all grown up." It was like if that last sentence was for both her sons.

Raz watched Jolana walk around them a few times and congratulated her on her steadiness on her feet. "Come then little sister, let me show you how not to chase a rabbit. Then when you are done laughing at me, I will show you the correct way." He headed off after Nasu, not wanting to leave his younger sibling out of the fun. "Let's see if those legs of yours are up to a little trot shall we?" he called back to her, as he began a slow trot across the grass.

Being back with his mother and brothers, and now these new siblings, made him think even harder about the choice he had made, following his father when he was just a colt, south to the lands of the Six. He missed this sort of fun, family time. Nothing like this ever happened for he and Nasu when they were growing up with their father. His life had been one of learning to fight, and follow orders. He was really considering not returning, and he was going to have to face his father if that was the decision he was to make. He only hoped that Nasu was either strong enough to return without him, or brave enough to follow his lead, and stay in the north.

Jolana's tail swished back and forth as her brother congratulated her. Then she watched him heading off and she took a deep breath, determined to show her brother she could do anything he did. She trotted after him, being careful not to trip on anything that might be in her way.

"Big brother, how long do you plan on being here?"she asked from behind him. It was nice to finally meet more of her family and get to spend some time with them. If they decided to leave again, she didn't know if she could handle it.

Raz stopped and looked back at his sister. Her question hit him like a strike from one of the stallions in the herd. Had she read his mind? Or were his emotions showing? Either way, she deserved an answer.

"I am not entirely sure Jolana. I have duties in my herd, so I will have to return to it at some point, but for now, I am here, and that is all that matters. Do not worry. When I do leave, I will take you with me in my heart, and know that at some point, I will return again. As you grow older, you will understand how important duty is. Now, let us find a rabbit, and have some fun while the sun still shines in the sky."

Jolana listened to her brother's words and guessed that she should have known he had duties to attend to. She nodded her head softly, planning to enjoy the time she had with her brothers, no matter how long that turned out to be.

"Alright, then I will just try to spend time with all of you while I can and see what happens when the time comes. Let's go catch a rabbit and show it it can't run from us,"she giggled.

Raz spent the next hour racing around the meadow, and in and out of the trees close by, with his sister, trying to scare up a rabbit or two to chase, but try as he might, there didn't seem to be any around. Before long, he called a stop to the futile endeavor and instead began to instruct his sister in other things. Things like how to protect yourself from unwanted suitors. He didn't want to see her fall prey to one like himself when no one was there to protect her. He wanted to make sure she was well prepared to defend herself against any unwanted affections by a stallion.

Sharizad led the way down the slight slope to the pond. It was still close enough to the family gathering that voices could still be heard drifting through the air, though nothing distinct. It seemed as though Karit wasn't in a hurry to say anything, so after another backwards glance, Shar stopped at the waters' edge and watched carefully for the dark shapes by the reeds that meant fish. "See there?" she said, staring intently into the water. "There they are. The dark shapes, at the bottom, those are fish." He seemed fascinated, which was weird. Had he never seen fish before? Shar sighed. And it wasn't what she wanted to talk about, either. "If you're not going to stay, you and your brothers-" (she found it hard to call them her brothers too) "-you're only going to hurt Mother. She doesn't want you to go. And Jolana gets attached really easily. I don't want them to hurt, Karit." She didn't want to let herself get close to them if they were going to leave either, not that she was going to add that/

Eri smiled back at his mother and thought for a moment. “Mother perhaps sometime, if you weren’t to busy I could take and introduce you to Geneviere Sue. I think the two of you would have a lot in common.” He said her name tenderly the way one would touch a delicate flower. He knew Geneviere Sue to be of pure heart and allied with the good Azrein of the greater herd. She and his mother would definitely have a few things in common and would most likely enjoy each other’s company. “Still I think I’d be happy to stay with you when I’m not visiting her. I’ve really missed talking to you mother.” He rubbed his head along her neck wondering when he’d gotten so big. He remembered being a foal and thinking his mother and father were the largest Azrein in the world.

His eyes fell onto the fish swimming around until Jolana had broke his concentration. He had hoped for it to be something entertaining, but it was rather serious comment. "I plan on visiting very often Shar," he muttered, not wanting her to worry much. "Mother shall understand my choices,... hopefully. I do plan on staying once I do find a certain thing though." He wondered if he was saying the right words or not, but he was a free stallion after all. "I promise that I will never leave the lands though, so I shall always be nearby. Nasu.. he's sort of like Jolana then. Always friendly and curious, not knowing much of the bad things.. well except from where he's living of course." In the background, he could see an azrein who looked so unfamiliar, but well-known at the same time.

'I've missed talking to you too my son." She closed her eyes, not wanting him to see that she was 'crying' a bit from all the missed memories. "I would love to meet this Geneviere Sue soon, Eri." she said happily. She was glad that her son had found of mare of his own and was content. Maybe she would consider uniting both of their little herds together?

Nasu did not really mind letting Raz take the lead of the rabbit hunt or to call the stop. He was the eldest after all. Nasu would have just continued running around the meadows like a foal with a newly found energy. The southern terrain was rocky, not grassy, after all and his hooves had already got used to the change. He listened carefully to the conversation, but did not always take in the information. Voltaire was already teaching him a few battle skills, but Jolana probably was having her first lesson now.

Jolana had enjoyed trying to chase rabbits, even if they hadn't caught any of them. When her brother called for them to stop and she started to teach him about defending herself, she tilted her head in curiosity.

"Why do I need to learn all of these things, big brother? Do you fear that someone will try to hurt me?"she asked. Her tail swayed back and forth gently and she was listening with her ears pointed in his direction.
