Rin frowned approaching Sasha, "It's no bother. Let's go oka-"

And then Sasha's flood gates of information burst open. Rin could only stare.

Apparently her father drank too, apparently Jerry may have royally screwed up, and apparently Jerry wrote Sasha a song. Rin quickly set her jaw.

"We'll discuss it once you have your flute, okay?" she offered her hand. Don't worry Sasha, Rin was more than happy to see you through this.

Thankfully it didn't take them long to get back to the bunkers. Sasha beelined for Killzone's dolphin room where she promptly unearthed her flute from a small mountain of beanbags.

Exhaling loudly, Sasha gave Rin a thankful look.

"Okay. I'm just being silly."

Rin tilted her head at Sasha curiously, "You must really like that flute..."

She looked all the more curious, so many questions at this point. Questions in questions, but the most glaring right now was...

"Where did you get it, if you don't mind my asking? Like... must be some story..."

"This flute? I.. it's the only thing that.. that keeps me sane sometimes." She gave a soft laugh, shaking her head.

"I'd left it behind when I came here. Ah.." Sasha cleared her throat and ran her fingers over the leather case.

"I ..wanted to start fresh. I left everything behind, even my flute. The doctor, ah.. had someone find it and.. bring it to me." Sasha flushed.

"My papa gave it to me. For my 9th birthday. I've been playing since then. There's no real story behind it."

"That is a story though, it sounds lovely." she smiled before the smile shifted into a frown.

"I... uh... I didn't really know about your dad either." she eyed a beanbag chair, extremely tempted to have a seat, "he didn't like... um..."

She wasn't sure about going there on her own though.

Sasha followed Rin's line of sight with a small laugh, moving to shove two beanbags close with her foot before she collapsed on one.

"He didn't what?"

Rin collapsed in the other and was quiet for some time before continuing her string of thought, "Like... hit.. you.. or anything, right?"

It was generally the first assumption with drunkard fathers really.

Sasha cleared her throat.

"He did. But.. I deserved it. I was always frustrating him with stupid questions, or being clumsy."

Sasha shrugged.

Rin gave Sasha a bewildered stare, "Sasha."

Her tone was sharp and disbelieving, "There is NOTHING and I mean absolutely nothing you could have possibly of done to deserve being hit."

At least in like... that way. Duels are different.
Rin pondered to herself.

"Not unless you hit him first." she decided to squeeze that one in there as a duel-clause.

Sasha shook her head and kept silent. She couldn't expect anyone to understand the relationship that she'd had with her papa. She'd never completely understood it herself, but Sasha knew her papa had loved her - and he would never had hit her unless she deserved it.

"You don't understand." Sasha shrugged. "I mean, I can't really.. expect anyone to understand. It's just the way things were, you know? I never held it against my papa. He.. he was my papa. I love.. loved him. He loved me."

Sasha cleared her throat.

"I don't want to.. well. It is what it is."

She sounded a little defensive, in all honesty, and agitation was evident in her voice once more.

Rin frowned looking over at Sasha, "You're right. I don't understand. I'd never been hit for being 'clumsy' or 'asking questions'.
Especially not by my father."

She fell silent. She wasn't judging Sasha she just... it baffled her that Sasha would sound like... like she deserved something like that. Something like that when... it just... Sasha was stronger than that. It felt wrong to hear.

"I'm sorry Sasha I just..." she sighed, "It's hard for me to even imagine you taking a hit and the blame along with it..."

She sunk in her seat a bit, "I just... even trying to imagine, I see you spinning around and kicking the perpetrator in the shin with a, 'Frickin'!' war cry."

"and I'm not saying there wasn't love either... don't misunderstand. He can love you but still be wrong in doing that to you."

Sasha clenched her jaw, watching Rin closely. That frown was setting her teeth on edge, and Sasha suddenly felt the urge to be alone. When faced with the facts, it sounded absurd that anyone deserved to be treated like she'd been. But it had been her papa, and he wouldn't have slapped her, or pinched her, or pulled her hair - any of that - if she hadn't deserved it. He'd loved her. He'd told her that he'd loved her, always and forever.

Nothing Rin could say would change that belief. Nothing.

She felt a surge of loneliness, hot and choking. What she wouldn't give to hear his voice one more time. Just one more time.

"I don't want to talk about it anymore."

With damp eyes Sasha lifted her chin, almost daring Rin to say more on the topic.

Rin bliiinked at Sasha again, her frown deepening, "Sasha I... uh..."

Oh god, Sasha was about to cry or kill her. It buuuurrrrned.

"J... jerry wrote you a song?"
PostPosted: Tue May 29, 2012 9:18 pm

Sasha's expression softened, and she nodded.

"Yes. I have it memorized."

It was important, after all. The first love song she'd ever been written was worth memorizing. She'd also written it down.

And carried it in her jacket pocket.

"I don't know what Jerry calls it."

"Oh.. must be really good then?" Rin pressed gently for more information on this.
