Sorry, I was eating dinner!

And that's pretty cool! I'm agnostic, as I mentioned, so I believe that there is something up there; I just don't know what. It could be Greek or Roman or Egyptian or Muslim or Jewish or Christian gods. I don't know, but I know it's something.

I think agnostic is when you believe in some higher power, but it's kind of vague, and Atheist is when you don't believe there is a higher power.

Agnosticism means denying that anyone can actually know whether a god or gods exist. Atheism is a disbelief in a god or gods. They're not mutually exclusive. I, for example, am an agnostic atheist. I also know agnostic theists. A lot of people seem to believe agnosticism to be a middle ground between atheism and theism, but it really isn't--it's just an admission of doubt, really.

Basically, if a person believes in a higher power--no matter how vague--she is a theist. Of course, she might also be an agnostic, but the vagueness of her belief isn't the defining point of her agnosticism. 3nodding

I am Roman Catholic, but I don't make strong claims to it.
I fear things that I don't know of, but sure, we can be friends yummy_smilies/icon_cupcake.gif

Fear of the unknown is one of the most horrible fears to have I think. I hope you conquer it. biggrin

And yay! Friends.
Now when you say you're Catholic, but don't make strong claims to it, what do you mean by that?

Thanks biggrin I hope you conquer yours as well ^^

I will easily say I'm Catholic if someone asks, but I don't feel I'm "enough of a Catholic" if compared to others.

You are the apple...

I'm horrible at deciding things lol I can never think of a single thing. Hmm, well how'd you come across Paganism? What got you into believing it?
and I am your core.

That is an excellent question. I was raised by two Christians, but I never felt Christian I had the feeling that something huge was missing. I came across paganism when I started really seeking and studying other religions, and I stuck with it because it just resounded with everything I already knew deep down in my heart. I don't describe it as a conversion, but more of a homecoming. Like the Gods were just waiting for me to come looking for them.

What about you? How did you find Christianity? What drew you to it?

You are the apple...

If you found what you were looking for and it fits with your beliefs, perfect. Most religions are based around the same principles anyways, it's just a matter of the afterlife that seems to differ the most.

As for me, I was raised Mormon for the first 10 or so years of my life. After that I just stopped going for whatever reason and become, for lack of a better term, agnostic. When I was 12-13, my aunt got married in the church I still go to today (though not nearly as much as I used to). I'm currently 20, so I've been going for a good 7-8 years and I rather like it. It was kinda my second home for a while.

I've stuck with it because when I was 13-14, I had been going through a major depression and I was at the point of suicide. I had thought over a few ways and decided praying was my last option before I finally went through with it. One night I just prayed that if God was truly real, He would help me through this time, and immediately the next day, everything that had been going wrong (my mom's mental illness, my home life, etc.) seemed to instantly get better and I didn't have that deafening darkness that depression brings surrounding me. Ever since that time, I've always believe in the Lord and His works.

With that, I've pretty much always had a problem with people saying they "know" God is real, because God is intangible, the idea of a god is just that, an idea. Religions are a belief system after all, so you can't really say you "know" God is real, you can only believe He is, which I do.

On an unrelated note, I'm sure he would apologise himself, but I'll apologise on behalf of Matasoga. He did mention his comment was at the risk of being rude, and he's really not a rude person, he just may come off that way at first. I first met him during a religious debate in a thread I made a few years ago and he did come off as a bit condescending, but since I've been in the Crew with him and seen him around the guild, I've come to realise he's a pretty cool guy.

Since I'm trying to become active (or at least a little bit more active) on this guild, I decided to post in here, too... And the thread subject seems to apply to me anyway. One more pagan here. I'm a Finnish recon. :3

Hi! Nice to meet you. I'm also trying to be more active. Versus just lurking. I have very strong lurkerish tendencies. You wouldn't know it by the way I type, but in real life I'm super shy. sweatdrop

Psh it's fine. I poofed for like three days so I think we're even.

And I have a friend who's on about the same thought process as you. That's pretty cool.

Ahh. I didn't know that. Thank you for educating me. Now I'm just going to note that for the next time somebody asks me what the difference is.

Well first of all thankyou for the apology on his behalf. I'm sure he's a pretty cool guy. I'm also sure I'm just naturally sensitive to criticism in social situations. But alright. That makes me feel better about it.

And I'm glad that you found God when you needed to. It sounds like you found something that works for you, and that's good. I know I have issues sharing stuff that personal - so thanks for sharing smile

And I agree with you that I generally have an issue with people that say they "know" God exists - or at least I used to. But I have come to the point where I have witnessed divine intervention too many times not to know the Gods are up there. But at the same time I recognize that in my humanness my knowledge is flawed, so I generally just say I believe even though I think I know.

Good to know I'm not the only lurker. ^_^' Most of the time I don't post at all simply because I feel like there's nothing for me to say that would actually contribute something useful for the thread. This automatically leaves me lurking...

(But now, I shall submit this post, despite being pretty sure this too is quite off-topic and pointless for the thread as a whole. Don't want to make you think I'm ignoring your reply - and if I don't post something, I'll probably end up not posting anything in the thread anymore.)

I've been through a few pagan spiritual journeys in my life.
Started off looking into Wicca, then tried Eclectic paganism, then branched into Ancient Egyptian paganism.

Now, like 8 years after starting my spiritual search, I've discovered I'm very "at home" with eastern faiths. This is thanks to the Hindu god, Ganesh. It's weird, but I feel like Ganesh always comes back to me, no matter what faith I was researching at the time.

When I say "come back to me" I mean there's always something in life that reminds me of him. I'll see him on a tshirt, as a figurine in a shop, or in my dreams. More recently, my boyfriend found some awesome computer programming project he just had to show me...and what was it? A computerized temple to Ganesh! (and at the time he had no idea I was interested in eastern beliefs).

So, they may just be random coincidences. But, I love it anyways.

Well, I'm Methodist, or you could just call it Christianity, since they are related in a lot of different ways. And I've always liked learning about different religions and such, though I've always been Methodist.
Anyway, nice to meet you!

Hmm well... Some of the ways the Gods have intervened in my life are sort of personal. I don't blab the details to too many people, but since you asked.... Can I pm you about it?

I know right? I have that issue all the time. I also seem to be the last poster in a lot of threads so I get the feeling that I'm killing them. That combined with my usual social issues leaves me lurking mostly - but I am making an effort here!

And don't worry if it's off topic. We''ve been off topic a few times in here. It's cool. smile So on another off-beat note - I like your avvie.

Lol. My friend's got a tote bag that says:

Dear Author,

Stop messing with our lives!

Sincerely,

Makes me laugh every time I see it. Especially since I'm sure half my characters would hate me with a passion.
What kinda fiction do you write?

I don't believe in coincidence. Okay that's half true. Some things really are just a freaky little co-ink-a-dink. But I think most of what we think is coincidence is one of the Gods trying to tell us something. That said I would think Ganesh is trying to get your attention....

So would you would you classify yourself as Hindu at this point in time or as something else?
