Ken called me Airin (the way you say it in Japanese), and Eileen's initials are EEP after all (Eileen Erin Patterson). A. L. works as long as people don't call me 'Al' as in Albert... that really weirded me out sweatdrop Ai is fine. Leen-chan? xd

Here's what I propose: A really simplified system, so that our limited numbers of people aren't spread too thinly. Let's say this for example:

General (of all Gaian Forces) (Limit 1)
Captain (of one of the branches) (Limit 1 each)
Lieutenant (Limit 1 each branch)
Ensign - Airman - ...whatever I'm missing. (Limit 3 each branch)
---
Master Sergeant
Sergeant
Corporal
Private

You'll note I merged the NCO ranks with the Enlisted ranks. Really, in my mind if we're going to RP this we should just consider the whole thing one progression, with that --- divider just considered the point where you have to call someone 'sir'.


...as for the doubling up idea, that might be a good one. Also, Sao... what do you think of the Antagonism System being implemented here? We're gonna need some conflict to keep us from wandering the hallways of our bases aimlessly.

I agree with the system... (I wonder where the hell will I be placed on the ranks xd )

however I have a complain, as far as I know, Airma-Ensign is the lowest grade, and you surely remeber Eep, Airman is the rank for newly graduate cadets, so... I believe we should not place a limit on that rank

BTW... I still believe we should use another rank for the leader of each branch... captain still sound pretty low for a leader of an entire branch...

what about Major instead of Captain?

I like Major for branch leader. Otherwise, I, too, consider Eileen's system best. (Also, I'm just gonna stick with Eileen, considering that's what I always wind up typing before I remember your actual username. razz So long as that doesn't bother you.)

You know, the Antag System would rock here - though I would certainly consider it perfectly legitimate to allow 3:1 stacking on the "good guys" side. Hell, I'd gladly be the entire "bad guys" team myself for the ASDF, if it wouldn't keep me jumping so much. razz

I probably should have explained this better, sorry sweatdrop Instead of a graduated cadet going to Airman or Ensign, they're promoted to Private. To get to Airman or Ensign, they would have to have reached Master Sergeant, then get promoted....but maybe holding onto that traditional title is also a bad idea. How about this?

Concerning the Antag System... actually, how about if we merge your two ideas Sao? While in the guild, you have two characters: one in the GG branch of your choice, and one 'bad guy' for the opposing faction. If we have an opposing faction for each branch (ideal), then your bad guy could be in one of the two bad guy factions your main character isn't fighting against.

For example: Eileen is in the ASDF. I could make a bad guy then to fight for the Galaban (an eastern terrorist regime that the GA might fight!)...

...or the Sushiperror's Imperial Fleet (which are notorious in their use of crashing servers (KamiOS, also know as the Divine Windows) to disable the mighty efforts of the Gaian Navy).

However, I could not create a bad guy to fight for the Lanzeraedi (a giant alien race of computer programmers that don't sleep) since they fight the ASDF.

I like the new rank system is perfect 3nodding , as for the Evil-Good guy, its a good idea, in fact I have a bad girl RP character.. maybe somebody heard of her =P (naa I doubt so... I just perfomed a couple of hits, BTW its a Hit Woman, named Natasha Danko)

Also I believe we need a new img for the paragraph intro and the registry screen... something that represent our Army

Sure thing Wizard. I just recently put up a sticky explaining the Antagonism System. If you have more questions, let me know.

The Antagonism System was developed by me after several attempts to create an RP aid devoted to military activity. It started out as a plug-in based mecha building system I was designing for the ASDF, then through the course of ...well... a long time, I refined and redesigned it until we have what we have in the sticky, which is useable for any story where more than 2 people are pitted against one another.

BTW, I believe we should start working in our new outpost defenses and the like, system, materials of the walls, etc, etc

the sooner we start with the outpost the sooner we will have people to roleplay with and perharps, maybe some antagonist

also we must set up our standars and requirements for recruitment, what we expect from our new recruits and what they can expect from us and also our guidelines for attacks on our outpost

I suggest we look to the SDRP (link in my sig) for more members...that guild has consistently produced good RP members. I'll drag over the good remnants of my own guild too, once things are a bit more concrete on this side.

The quality RPers are who we should be looking for. I don't mean people who are walking spellchecks (though I am one of those myself), but people who can get their RP point across in a way that makes people sit up and say, "Cool."

...but I don't think we should rush into recruitment just yet. I'd rather show potentially cool new guildmembers a finished guild, than one trying to get back on its feet still.

Regarding the design of the outpost: I'm going to ask that the defensive capabilities of the outpost not be available for the common passerby to read through. I'd like to give them hints instead, such as, "The walls appear to be very thick, and the word out on the street is that the GNG has outfitted their base's security with the latest-and-greatest hardware." Then, if they should request more information based on their own methods of knowledge gathering, we can provide more info. (Which we'll have written somewhere else, out of the way, as a reference.)

I wanna do it this way because I'm a little tired of the villains who read through all our base defenses OOCly and go, "Ok, so I need to make contingencies for this this and this, get around that, and then have X superpower that makes that final defense worthless."

...but that's an off topic sort of thing really. We should set up another thread for discussions on base defenses. In fact, I will. 3nodding

Here's where I'd like to be before we begin recruiting in ernest: to the point where we can look at this thread, and decide it can go into the housekeeping subforum.

Things that I think need to happen before we can get there (I'm sure we'll think of more things to put on this list)

  • Command structure (Check)
  • Person-to-put-in-General-rank (Nothing yet)
  • Rank system defined (Check)
  • Define method to keep us from wandering the halls of our bases all day (Check)
  • Define each branch's jurisdiction and operation parameters (Halfway there)
  • Designate who leads which branch. (1/3rd of the way)
  • Reorganize existing personnel for each branch into the new rank structure. (Nope)
  • Redesign each branch's resources (operational HQ, fighters/capital ships/munitions etc) (not yet)


...also, it might be nifty to have chatroom meetings every once in a while. Maybe in Towns at someone's house or something?

I agree with the idea that we shouldn't give away all our defenses right off the bat - perhaps on a case-by-case, if we know we're dealing with solid RPers.

The remaining tasks aren't enormous, thankfully. I figure that the "define jurisdiction and parameters" and "redesign resources" steps are the ugliest, mainly because they smack of busy work. So who's not busy? razz As for putting bodies in the upper ranks, if we can't settle on a simple volunteer basis, a simple nomination process, followed by a week-long poll, should suffice (two weeks if we really bother to care).

I can't guarantee my presence at any chat meetings - especially if they occur off-Gaia - but I'd be willing to try. I haven't cleaned my House, though. razz

Ok, let's keep things moving then 3nodding

If Saoszuc can, I'd like to nominate her as my choice for our General. She's the one who started this drive, and knowing her like I do, I believe she'd do very well in charge. Plus as a friend to Tanasha, she has the ability to keep the Guild Captain's interests in mind, even when Tanasha's not around.

Regarding jurisdiction, it was brought up in the outpost defenses thread that we should have our Security "dept" split into two: one for normal security, and one for magical security. I believe the Gaian Army gets to handle security, and I'd also like to mention that there's a guy in the guild named The_Wizard who happens to be in the GA xd
