Shenny really enjoyed being here, in Alchemy class... it all felt very right, the whole aesthetics was incredibly appealing to her. Thus, feeling a moth sitting on her head was tickling, but somehow it felt stimulating and pleasant.

The ghoul stared at the stone Bulbous took from his stomach excitedly. A separate aspect of Alchemy... If her guess is correct, would it be possible to feed a couple of living persons to this kind of stone to make it powerful enough to perform various tasks? She didn't have even a moment of hesitation thinking about feeding someone to the stone. Shenny was actually more wondering how to create such an artifact.

"Thank you for explaining! May be, if we're lucky enough, we have this time later", she replied with a genuine interest.

Destructive

Step 1: roll 3 d4 for skins/runes (if you roll two of the same number, you just have 2 of that skin/rune)
1- Unknown skin, rune written in blood
2- Salamander skin, rune written in charcoal
3- Bear hide, rune written in Chalk
4- Lamb skin, rune written in Coffee

Step 2: Grab a type of rotting minipet and wrap it with your wardstone
Types possible: Foxfire, leviathia, scareon, corrividus

Once finished go to the front of the class and drop off your ward stone with: Starting bonus from yesterday, what skins used, and what minipet used in BOLD RED at the bottom of your post.

Tyshina quietly lurked into class for the second day in a row. Why did she always have to be late, couldn't just one day she be on time. Part of her really hoped no one had noticed her arriving late, since she really didn't want to be known as the late one here.

It took her a few moments to adjust herself quickly in the back though once she did. She quickly tried to understand what they were doing and went to the front of the room. While there she grabbed her stone from yesterday and three other materials. The materials she choose were a Salamander skin, Bear hide, and last but not least Lamb skin. Never before had she used these things, though there was a first for everything.

With her materials in hand she quickly ran back to her station and tried to figure out what she was to do next. "I think they said something about a minipet," she mumbled quietly to herself as she sat everything down.

All right, time to set this thing up. Carefully using the two hides, he managed to tie/wrap the wardstone onto a half-rotten Foxfire. Not too bad-looking. But at the same time, he had no idea what the purpose of this was. Oh well, hopefully it wouldn't end up too terribly. Heading back up to the front of the classroom, he dropped off his . . . creation.

Minipet used: Foxfire
Skins used: Salamander skin, 2 Bear hides

Tyshina quickly learned just what she was supposed to with all the materials. She sat there for only a few moments before she decided to go with the foxfire rotting minipet. She wrapped the minipet around the wardstone with the skins/runes she had chosen earlier. As soon as she finished, she nodded her head and quickly walked to the front of the class. She placed her creation gently on the drop off area and walked back to her seat.

Sadly she had not talked to anyone today, but there was always tomorrow. Plus in all honesty she had done well today since she had completed her task to the fullest.

Aleria was just as excitable on this second day as the first. They scurried in, dressed down, in light fabrics of linen and translucent silk, sandals covering their feet. The moths were around, fluttering, and the demon let a pale hand reach out to one.

One insect laid in Aleria's wild hair, a contrast against its stark white, nestling close to a thorned horn.

The demon found it to be comfortable. They focused in on what Bulbous had instructed. Aleria had failed the day prior, and so, it was up to the premade kind to ensure the passing of their class.

Today, Aleria chose Destructive, as a contrast to their previous day's failures. Taking the new wardstone, they gathered the materials. A skin of an unknown variety with flaked red lettering was the first. With careful hands, Aleria wrapped their stone in it, being sure to use careful movements. The next was reptilian skin, the writing on it black and easily smudged. It was the next layer to be added, and even in the muggy room that smelled of death and decay, Aleria found that they were not entirely displeased with the day.

This clan was too fascinating to be distressed at, even if Famine kept placing them in odd situations.

The final skin was a lamb's, a bit of its curled fur still attached. The smell of coffee grounds wafted up from it. Unpleasant, and thoroughly so. With a scrunch of their nose, Aleria wrapped up the wardstone in the skin, wishing dearly for a way to cleanse their hands.

Aleria selected a reptile's skin, formerly a levathia it seemed, prying it apart enough to press the lump of skin and stone together.

Ugh. Done. They could feel dirt and grime underneath their claws, the gristle of fat, and they did not like it in the slightest.

Zurine started slightly as a moth landed on her head, it was a large creature - for a moth anyways, or at least compared to any moth she had been close to before. She rolled her eyes up slightly as thought trying to get a glimpse of it though this was a pointless effort really given it's location and stayed rather still so as not to disturb it. She had no problem with moths..they were kind of like butterflies just a bit less colorful in her opinion and it was alive. Zurine liked pretty much any living creature that wasn't trying to kill her.

Of course she soon realized that the moth's presence meant that she had drawn the attention of the class instructor and gave him a slightly guilty look as he lectured her on the hows and why of using the dead mini pets. It didn't make her feel any less sympathetic to the poor creatures end but at the very least it let her understand some of the why - though she had to force herself not to wince when he mentioned putting things into live creatures. Really..she didn't want to know what might happen then.

"Oh..well, thank you for explaining and it's good to know that they are dispatched quickly" She responded politely... choosing to take the teachers words as 'most of the time' despite his somewhat ambiguous statement. The moth crawling around on top of her head was somewhat ticklish and one of her large fluffy ears twitched as it brushed against it.

Mandy arrived back at class the next day with renewed enthusiasm after her time with Cymbeline in the Vegetation Lab. She'd forgotten how much she loved working with plants and how much in return they seemed to love her efforts. Sometimes too much in the case of Steve.

Humming cheerfully as she set up following the instructions Bulbous had given them, only hesitating slightly when she heard him mention accidentally killing themselves with these things if they poured in any Fear because that would be just her luck.

Picking a skin was simple for her, anything with wings she gained an automatic slight grudge against because why could they fly when she couldn’t.

...what that wasn’t petty and bias. Not at alllllll.

Burying the seed and the minipet in her mound of dirt she inspected the new oils they had out before deftly picking out three vials of green stuff. Green meant healthy vegetation to her so her seed was going to get as much of that stuff as she could give. She felt even better about when she saw it ran like water, which was also good for plants, unlike some others she saw when she glanced around the classroom.

That done Mandy resigned herself once again to waiting. If there was one thing she was getting out of alchemy it was patience.

Constructive
Step 1: Grab a type of rotting minipet and place it at the bottom of the pot
Types possible: Foxfire, leviathia, scareon, corrividus

Step 2: Roll 3 d4 to get waters to soak your soil in. (If you roll doubles you will just have 2 of that oil)
1- Green oil, runs like water
2-Yellow oil, runs a little slower than water
3-Brown oil, slow and thick
4-Red oil, it comes in globs
You’ll be planting the seed in a small handheld clay pot, the oils acting as water. Which will soak into the earth.

Once finished go to the front of the class and drop off your planted dead seed with: Starting bonus from yesterday, what skins used, and what minipet used in BOLD RED at the bottom of your post.

Another day, and Hadiyya was rather excited to soak in all the knowledge their instructor had to offer. The ever present stench of the room however was another story altogether. Just as the day before the djinn flinched as she entered the classroom, delicate features tightening as she tried not to let just how unsettled she was show on her face before she took her seat on the threadbare rug.

By now she was used to Bulbous' appearance and the small flock of moths that seemed to congregate inside him. The flutter of wings through the semi translucent sac of his stomach was far more interesting then disturbing, and the appearance of one softly glowing insect even had the corners of her lips twitching upward before the instructions of their next assignment was laid out before them and they were released to start working.

It was out of respect, or so she told herself, that she chose a decaying scareon pelt from the macabre collect, and very gingerly she she carried it over to place at the bottom of her pot. On top of that she added her seed, and carefully tucked a bit of the flesh around the FEAR laden thing to better promote it's growth.

The next step was adding water, something she very easily could have done on her own with no more then a flick of her finger, but no water she could produce would have the added oils essential to alchemy. She peered at the small collect of fluids, contemplating her selection. Some were thin as water, some so thick you couldn't even claim them as fluid, and every one a vivid hue of color. In the end she settled on the green and the red. Two parts of the most watery oil to one part of the thickest. Hopefully they would balance each other out.

When she was finished she nudged her pot to the side and folded her hands along the top of her "desk".

Today they got to touch the interesting things in the room. Pickles touched as many things as possible. He was a little disappointed they had to hide the angry face he had drawn on the rock, but at least now it would be warm.

He picked up as many different skins as he could, and wrapped the stone in a big, colorful, runic bundle.

Then he stuffed all of that inside a feathery corpses, because yay! Feathers! And brought it up to the front of the class.

Malodore had noticed the needle the instant it arrived in the classroom, and kept giving it surreptitious glances - not out of fear, but out of anticipation. As far as the plague doctor was concerned, needles led to nothing but good things. It was ever so slightly uneasy about the presence of the plump scareons, but one had to be willing to experiment however was needed, whether or not the subject could be considered cute.

(Anyway, Luce was safe at home in Amityville.)

It listened to Bulbous' lecture and took notes with growing interest, rolling the needle between the fingers of its free hand as the Horseman spoke. It wasn't sure whether to be relieved or disappointed that its experiment wouldn't involve the scareons. When the instructor released them to their work, Malodore retrieved its pot and gingerly lifted up the carefully folded wings of the dead Corrividus. The smooth curve of the thing was protruding from the rotting flesh a bit, and it didn't seem too different from yesterday. Until it pulled it up, and realized that at some point the thing had grown a tiny body...

Malodore laid the former seed out in its palm, fascinated by the tiny, perfect bones. How marvelous! And the first step was blood, was it? Va bene. Gently laying the seed down, it took up the needle and - turning away from the others for modesty - worked at the bandages on its neck until a tiny bit of its true flesh peeped between two strips. It quickly drew blood with the needle, whipping the thick, viscous stuff over the seed and letting the drops fall. One, two, three- it hurriedly pulled the needle backwards but not before a fourth drop could fall. Oops.

That done, it tightened its bandages again.

Now for the pot - the new pot was indeed larger, which suggested that the plant itself would also grow. Perhaps the skeletal seed would gain structure, form, even musculature? It was an intriguing thought. Malodore carefully transferred the rotting Corrividus into the new pot, intent on tucking the seed into the corpse using the wings, like a scareling tucked in bed. One wing lost a few feathers, complete with shreds of flesh still attached, and the body's decomposition seemed advanced; the plague doctor was left with smears on its hands and work area. Ugh. It would have to clean that up...

Still, as it nestled the skeletal seed into its new home and folded the wings over it, it felt reasonably proud of what it had done. And it would feel even better once it had gotten the rot off of its hands.

"Sir?" it inquired, turning to their instructor to address him for the first time. "If I may inquire - in other areas of this Isle, I have seen fascinating specimens of Human remains. Is there a special method of preservation you use? Everything I have ever attempted to, ah, transport has violently... destabilized... upon return."

Third day of class, and this time, the sound of life scareon immediately caught Clyde’s attention as he entered. Were they going to do something to them? He wouldn’t know as the minipets were not included in the constructive set’s instructions and instead, they were just told to replant the seed…again. Of course, it seems both destructive and constructive are doing something similar today: adding their own blood to their relative object.

Why does bonding rituals like blood so much? He wondered before sighing at the unanswerable question and then went to remove the, now skeletal, seed from its tiny pot. Giving the seed a thorough scan of its new evolution, Clyde then went to doing today’s task of adding blood to the seed. He picked up a needle and pricked his finger and watched as it dripped onto the seed, but let out a silent swear as one extra drop of blood landed on the seed.

Very good, the seed is not only planted but you’re sure you felt a pulse of FEAR from it. (+1)

Clyde stared at the new, larger pot that was to be the new home of his dead seed. He wasn’t sure whether he had to bury the dead foxfire with it again, so he scanned the room and followed Malodore’s example. It looks like he knew what he was doing…

Carefully and slowly, Clyde transferred the rotting remains into the new pot and buried the seed within its new home. He completed the repotting with extra care to replace his carelessness from the blood. Hopefully the two will even out. As he took the pot to the front of the class once more, the varcolac could feel a faint pulse of FEAR from the seed.

This was a good sign right?

So now it was day three in Alchemy and Zurine was a little bit wary when she walked into class - what was it going to be today? More dead animals?..But no, she was presently surprised when she walked in and found living and somewhat fat looking scareons..but then when she took in the needles also laid out on the table she began to fear that they would be doing something terrible to the scareons.

Taking her seat she pulled out the notes she had made the previous two days and waited to see what the little class of horrors had in store for her today. Of course she was pleasantly surprised when she heard the day's lesson plan - why..it wasn't terrible at all. The worst that she had to do was p***k her finger which she could deal with easily enough. Well unless as the instructor stated someone got moronic and killed them all...but really she thought that was probably just a bit of over exaggeration as their instructor seemed to be in an even worse mood today then he had been the last too. Even his moths seemed somewhat agitated with the way they were flying about the class.

When they were released to carry on with the exercise Zurine went to retrieve her pot and seed, carrying it back to her desk where she carefully uncovered her seed, rather surprised to see the change in appearance. She had no idea if that was good or bad but in any case there was nothing to do but carry on with the lesson and picking up the needle she pricked her finger and massaged three drops of blood onto her seed,
