Selena jumped back, clapping in triumph as Nero agreed to play a few rounds of Mario Kart with her. She walked towards her entertainment center and opened the cabinet doors to reveal a flat screened television and a Wii gaming system. She had a few other gaming systems that were in her closet, but she played the Wii the most. There were also a few movies and games stocked in the chelves on the sides. Grabbing the remote and turning the television on to the correct channel, she grabbed the game off the shelf and popped it into the console. From there, she took what appeared to be two normal Nintendo controllers that were wireless and plugged their adaptors in.
She was sure she had put new batteries into them so she wouldn't have to worry about it going out and there was another pack of fresh batteries in her sock drawer just in case. She backed up towards the foot of her bed and sat down, patting the spot next to her. It was definitely the most comfortable place for them to enjoy a game or two. Selena couldn't sit in a hard chair while gaming. It tended to hurt her back after awhile. "By the way," she said as the game ran through the opening credits. "Maybe you could give me your number before you leave. I'll give you mine as well. It's only right since we're partners and all." She didn't admit that she just wanted his number and not for the reason of her being his partner.

Nero chuckled at Selena's excitement, amused to see her clapping in victory just because she got him off the project. He was more than happy to oblige and followed her curiously. Nero's eyes widened in awe when Selena revealed her entertainment system. It was very impressive, the large TV, new console and assortment of games. Were there any more ways in which she was totally perfect?
The brown haired boy eagerly took the offer to sit on her bed, landing on the softness with a smile. He took up the second controller when offered and adjusted himself in his seat. He looked at Selena when she spoke, and after very little consideration nodded at her. That was something he would have had to ask if she did not. "Sure. No problem." Nero stated happily and turned his attention back to the television. Yeah, sure, because they were partners. Not only that but it meant he could hear her sweet voice regularly just by calling her.

Once Nero was comfortable beside Selena upon her bed, the icy eyed young college student pressed the start button. Because she constantly played the game, she had unlocked a few new characters. Scanning through each character in the list, the cursor came to rest on Rosalina. She clicked the Confirmation button or A button before allowing Nero to choose his character. After that was done, they both agreed on a map, which happened to be one of the most challenging as far as a Mario racing game went.
The race soon started, Selena revved up her character's vehicle before the "Go" signal sounded that way she would get a speed boost in the beginning. She soon came to discover that Nero was an avid gamer as well. Some races were won, some were lost and some...one of the AI characters made it across the finish line first much to their chagrin. She still thought the AI cheated sometimes. During what could be counted as their twenty-fourth race...or was it twenty-fifth? Selena couldn't keep count...Selena opened her mouth to speak to Nero, her eyes still glued to the television screen and the game that was being played.
"We've been going at this for awhile now haven't we?" Only after she said that did she realize how odd it sounded...Odd in a sexual manner. But Selena did tend to say things that could be taken in such a way. "We should probably stop." They had just finished another race. Another AI had won. Cheaters...definitely. Selena exited the game then stood up from the bed to remove the disc from the console and turn the Wii and television off. "Are you hungry?" she asked after closing the double doors on the entertainment center. "I'm not a big cook, but I'm sure I could whip up something." Yes, Selena was hungry, but it was only common courtesy to ask her guest if he wanted something as well.

Nero was keen on starting quickly, and out of the first options he saw he swiftly just went with Toad. The races were on. It was obvious Selena had covered numerous game hours in this, she was very experienced, and he happily congratulated her on her victories. It just made it more impressive when he managed to beat her, and the AI. Time flew by and he became aware of his surroundings only when Selena spoke up again. They had been gaming quite a while probably.
Nero nodded to her, finding how she put it perfectly normal in the context. They had been going at it together for a bit indeed. "Alright." Nero took the offer to stop calmly with a shrug of his shoulders. It was no big deal, time had been enjoyed, they could do other things now. Nero put down the controller and stretched his arms up toward the ceiling, needing a good stretch after not moving from that spot since they began.
Before his mouth could reply to her question, his stomach did. Nero felt a little embarrassed as there was a quiet rumble from his belly and smiled nervously at Selena. "A little." He explained. A bite of something would not be too bad to have, and the idea of Selena making it somehow just made it seem better. Then again, since they had her car, they could go out to eat. "I don't mind, but I don't wanna be a burden." Nero said softly. It would be alright if Selena cooked, as long as she did not mind.

Selena's arms stretched upwards followed by a rather large yawn. She was sure there was some leftover pizza that she had ordered last night. There were probably still a few slices left. Her periwinkle eyes landed upon him. "Well, I do feel a little bad about keeping you in my room while I'm continuously going downstairs, so whether you like it or not, you're coming with me." She grasped his arm gently and pulled him along, out of the room and down the stairs. When they arrived in the small kitchen, Selena nodded towards the dining table. You can sit there if you want...or stand. Hell, sit on the counters for all I care, but make yourself comfortable.
She let go of his arm allowing her own arm to drop down to her side and walked towards the refrigerator. Opening it, she peered inside. Sure enough, on the second shelf, was a large box with the name of her favorite pizza place. Pulling it from the refrigerator, she set it on the counter and opened it. Sure enough, there was still plenty of slices. Pepperoni with the crispy bacon...not Canadian bacon. Selena then pulled a pizza pan from one of the lower cabinets near the floor and placed each slice on the pan before sticking it in the oven and turning the oven on to a temperature of about 300 degrees and set it to "Bake". It would take a little bit until the pizza was nice, warm, and crispy. "Yeah, sorry about the mess in the kitchen. Life of a college student with a part time job, you know?" she said with a light laugh.

Nero grinned and chuckled happily as Selena insisted on taking him along, more than happy going with her. He liked her assertiveness, sure kept him on his toes. Also, her arm felt nice taking hold of him, and as they were so close he could let her scent envelope him. Nero had had a thought before this of course - he would not want her falling when carrying hot food, so he would have to make sure 100% to be there in case of anything. Besides he would rather stay in her company, certain plus to just being alone in her room. Nero followed Selena and they quickly ended up in the kitchen. When directed, Nero pulled out of one of the chairs and sat down by the table.
His emerald orbs stayed keenly on her and her activities. The sight of the pizza was enough to stop him from staring at her attractive shape. Pepperoni, and something else on it apparently.. ham? Bacon? Nero could not see clearly from his vantage point. He was even more hungry though, that would no doubt he so very delicious.
Nero laughed when mentioned the mess, not that it bothered him. He barely took notice. There was something his eyes were more keen on. Nero smiled at Selena and nodded. "So true." He stated. His own little place back at base did not exactly have enough stuff in it to make a mess, which was always nice. It would be easy to find golden things generally laying around there though, things he threw to the corner in frustration when his power became difficult to deal with.
But there was something she mentioned that he was not exactly aware of. "Selena, where do you work?" He asked curiously while smiling pleasantly at the girl. He himself was not employed. He left his last job last year when he took up the college course. He was hoping after this, he could go into more steady work, but a job, work at base and college stuff was not something he wanted to juggle in his schedule.

While the pizza was heating up, Selena went to the refrigerator again and opened it, pulling out the same jug of cold tea again and set it on the counter before grabbing two clean glasses out of the cabinet. She filled each glass with a few ice cubes from the freezer and poured the tea before taking a long swig right from the jug, wiping her mouth and setting it back inside the refrigerator. She set one on the table in front of Nero. "I figured I owed you a glass after practically drenching you a little earlier," she said teasingly. The image of him being shirtless came back, but she struggled to repress it for a later and more convenient time. She set her cup down on the counter, then placed her hands behind her, bracing herself as she lifted herself atop the counter as well.
"I work at a clothing store," she said as she swung her legs back and forth allowing them to hit lightly against the lower cabinet doors. "It's called Maurice's. I work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after class and some weekends too. Their clothing is expensive, but very tasteful, perfect for young adults like us. Plus I get the whole ten percent discount deal, which isn't so bad." She picked up her glass of iced tea and took a sip. The cold liquid felt good sliding down her throat. The other two glasses were still upstairs. She would have to get them later.
There were plenty more questions she wanted to ask him, some casual and some personal. "So tell me. How many girlfriends have you had in the past? You must've had a few." Surely someone as good looking as him would've had a girlfriend or two in the past. Selena, herself had had a few boyfriends. Of course a few was around three. Well two that were really serious. She doubted that Jonathan Sewell who she sat next to in class and at lunch in fifth grade really counted as a boyfriend. Yes, they had kissed, but it had been a small peck which ended in the well known 'Ew, gross!' scenario followed by them wiping their mouths in disgust. She looked at Nero expectantly awaiting his response.

The drink jug being revealed made Nero a little nervous at first. The sensation of his front being struck with the cold drink printed in his memory. But Selena was so clumsy as to actually make it go on him again, was she? He observed her drink straight out of the jug and let out a chuckle. She was so different.
"Thank you." Nero spoke up happily and took the glass in hand, after it was just placed on the table. He laughed at her light tease about drenching him and nodded understandingly. He did not mind. His shirt would be dry quickly and he could put it back on. Nero figured he would just throw it in the wash back at base. There was no need to bother Selena over such trivial things. He took a sip of the refreshing cold drink and exhaled in relief.
Nero listened intently as Selena went on about her work, eager to hear and know more. His emerald eyes never left her. It seemed quite fitting for her to work there, discount for clothes for people of their age and all. "That's very good. Not too big a workload either, I hope." He observed calmly. Three days out of the week, perhaps the weekend, that was not too bad. Left enough time for college just about. "Does it pay quite well?"
Out of anything she may have wanted covered, Nero did not really expect that question. He looked at his drink, as if waiting for it to give an answer, while he gave the topic a moment of thought. He had been too young before the transformation. Since then he had spent an excessive amount at base, his work being the only outside contact he had with regular people, and now college. Besides that it was his golden touch that came in the way. Sure people had shown interest in him, maybe tried to have something, but Nero had not had much luck in that area. "Just one really, I guess." Nero spoke up and gave a shy smile to Selena, hoping she did not think of him as some kinda loser for not being more outgoing. "Relationships can be very complicated sometimes." That was something he had quickly learned and something he was now worried about. Would Selena accept him as something not precisely normal, beyond human? They were so different as well. Yet, Nero could not help but feel very attracted to her. Generally pleasant and kind, social and fun to be around, Selena was a great person. "And yourself?" Nero asked, giving her the same question. He sorta expected her to have more experience in the dating game. No doubt a lot of guys just swooned over her, just look at her! Nero felt himself very lucky to be here with her now.
Nero took a big sip of his drink, letting the cool liquid fill his mouth, and swallowed. It sated his thirst and kept his hunger down at least a little. He could not help but start wanting that pizza already. For now, he tried to raise further conversation, maybe get to know more about her. "So uhm, do you have any hobbies? Besides gaming." He asked something quite generic. For himself, he was not sure whether to classify his training as a hobby. Working for the organization was a bit like a job.

Selena drew in another sip of her delicious home-made iced tea draining half the glass. It wouldn't be long before she would have to pour another. As she did, Nero asked his question about how much she had gotten paid. "It's really not very much, but I mean I work part time at a clothing store so I guess it could be worse. I get paid about seven-fifty an hour. Of course during the holidays such as Christmas, my pay does get bumped up to eight an hour, like during that month. I think that counts for Thanksgiving as well and probably Easter. It's hard to remember. I've only been working there for about a year." Selena's vivid periwinkle orbs met Nero's emeralds.
He was so very shy, Selena could see that. She could tell he was the kind of person who kept to himself, but today she had seen instances where he could be fun. He was definitely not above cracking a joke or two. He had, what many people would call, a quiet sense of humor whereas Selena's sense of humor could be classified as a little louder, but not in an obnoxious way. Well...maybe just a little obnoxious sometimes. She drained the rest of her glass as she waited for him to answer her next question. When he did, she was a little surprised to be honest, yet it somehow made her feel better. She tended to find out that guys who'd had a lot of girlfriends in the past were just after one thing and were too overly confident about themselves to the point of being major assholes.
"I will agree with you there," she said when he said relationships were a little complicated. "Um...during my entire life? I've had three. Well...I don't think you could count what I had in fifth grade when I was about eleven a relationship," she said with a small laugh. "So honestly, only about two. They each only lasted a few months. One of them had to move away and the other, I found out, was cheating on me so I dumped his a** right away after I found out."
Surely the pizza was done now, Selena slid off the counter, feet landing gently on the floor. She walked over to the oven and opened it, peering inside. Sure enough, the small waves of smoke wafting from the pizza and the way the cheese bubbled slightly indicated that it was definitely finished. Taking some oven mitts from one of the drawers, she drew the pizza out and set it atop the stove in order to let it cool off before she served it. It was already cut into slices, so she wouldn't worry about that.
"My hobbies?" she asked. "Well, I do like to draw sometimes. I'm not too good at anything besides houseplans. I mean, I can sometimes draw a few animals...mostly dogs and cats, but they're just sketches with some shading. I sometimes do a bit of watercolor here and there, but I'm not too good at it." Her mind wandered for a moment as she thought of what she liked to do. "My self-defense class is rather fun. My brother made me start taking it," she said with a chuckle. "But hey, if I run into some trouble in a dark alley, at least I'll know how to defend myself, you know?"
She took two plates from the cabinet and a flat spatula from one of the drawers. After placing a few slices of pizza on each plate, she set one down in front of Nero and the other down across from him in front of the place she was going to sit. Yet, before sitting down, she grabbed the cold tea from the refrigerator and poured herself another glass, even filling Nero's glass up a little more before she sat down. "Eat as much as you like," she said cheerfully as she picked up her pizza and bit into it. It was hot and the cheese burned the roof of her mouth, but what did she care?

He listened to Selena talk intently, appreciating her voice and all that she let him know. All the while he took slow sips of his drink, really enjoying it as well. Nero did not think the pay she got at her job, for a part time deal as a student, was too bad. Considering the house and all that she owned, she seemed pretty well off. Most of it was probably funded by her parents, or the brother whose shirt he was wearing.
Nero was somewhat glad to hear about her love life. Two serious past relationships did not seem bad. Bad as in... well, she did not just go with every random guy that looked at her. He chuckled with her about the part when she was still eleven. Nero nodded but frowned sympathetically when she mentioned the cheater. Meh, unfaithfulness. To him it was unbelievable that anyone was better than Selena, so it could not be possible to even consider betraying her. "That's horrible. I'm sorry." Nero spoke softly. Why would he apologize hearing that? Eh, perhaps for making her think about something not so nice, or perhaps apologizing for other people being so mean, they were all human after all. Both seemed about right.
The young man's expression lit up with certain excitement as Selena got off the counter and went to check the oven. His stomach was quite ready to have something put in it. The smell of the pizza reached him quite soon, and he exhaled pleasantly. So delicious. He smiled victoriously when Selena took it out of the oven. He had paid for her meal, and she had paid him back. She was feeding him, what could he do to make up for it? He saw little difference in the two situations and the question stayed at the back of his mind.
Selena's hobbies were very interesting to hear about. Drawing was quite nice, something he rather struggled with though. Silly doodles on his notes were quite enough. "That sounds nice, nothing too complex. I wouldn't mind seeing some of your art." Nero said happily. He had seen her housing plans, she was very good at those. Continuing to listen, he grinned when she mentioned martial arts. That was something he liked! And was rather good at. "Self defense? That sounds quite nice. When I'm not working on college stuff I attend martial arts classes." Nero spoke up gladly, happy to have a shared interest on some level. Classes was a vague term in this case, at first it had been just being taught but now he practiced a lot on his own.
It was then that Selena seemed ready to share the cooled down food. Hopefully the pizza was not too hot. "Thank you." He thanked her happily when she offered up the food, and the additional drink. By now he had almost run out. Nero took a careful bite, it was a little hot still he found, and drank some of the cold ice tea to compensate. With small blows to it, Nero did his best to cool the pizza down, before taking bigger bites. The taste was excellent, this was really great. It felt so homey, sitting with Selena in such a casual environment, just eating pizza. If his future could be anything like this, it would be a good life.
When the pizza was done, Nero licked the sides of his mouth to clean up any mess left by the food. His glass was empty and his stomach full. "That was really good. Thank you." Nero said happily and he smiled at the girl. His face, from his lips to his emerald eyes, expressed his happiness and gratitude. "Anything you wanna do next?" He asked curiously.

Selena's shoulders lifted in a shrug as Nero apologized for her terrible love life. "It's in the past. That guy was an idiot anyways. But not all guys can be like that can they? she asked in a rhetorical question not really expecting him to answer. She perused him for a moment. What was he like when it came to relationships? He didn't seem like the cheating type. Then again, certain people could appear one way, but then one would find out that they were completely different. No...Nero definitely wasn't like that.
She was content that he seemed to be enjoying the pizza. He deserved it after he had been forced to pay for her lunch and after she had spilled iced tea all over him. She secretly hoped this wouldn't happen every time he came over, that she wouldn't be so clumsy as to spill something on him. Who knew. Next time it could be something hot, she realized in horror. She secretly thanked the man upstairs that she hadn't been carrying hot tea at the time, which she did drink on occasion.
She took a few more bites of her pizza, chasing the hot melted cheese down with a large swig of her tea. "Martial arts? That seems interesting. I suppose you can say my self-defense classes do deal in different fighting styles. Of course, I have ended up with a few broken bones in the past, but a lot of those were mistakes made by me. It's just all part of the training process." Soon her pizza was finished and she drained the last few drops in her iced tea. Taking her dishes, and his, she carried them to the sink and set them down gently. "I'll wash these dishes later," she said. And she would, after he left. "You know," she said, turning around to face him. "I've been suggesting things all afternoon. Why don't you pick something for us to do," she suggested leaning against the counter.

"I would never want to be." Nero replied with a smile. Too many bad people existed in the world, he was not going to contribute. He was happy being a genuinely good person. If given the chance, he would dedicate all of his very being to Selena. He would make her happy, and as a result be happy himself.
Nero nodded to her talk about her experience in her training. Broken bones sounded awful harsh, but it could indeed get dangerous if you were not careful. "I could teach you some." Nero pointed out as the idea came to him. He would make sure she was not hurt, taking it easy, and would be able to make sure if she fell or otherwise made a mishap he was there to assist. Oh she probably found the notion silly, not too keen on fighting or anything, but he figured at least he had taken the chance to ask.
What they could do? Project... gaming... She would not want to work on the task now, and they had already played a little at least. His emerald eyes went around the room as he thought about it, as if the surroundings could give him some idea. He was lacking in ideas terribly. 'Think Nero, think.' And then... Nero returned his gaze to Selena and smiled. He was a little shy just putting the idea out there, but maybe it was actually good; "How 'bout a movie?" Nero asked softly. Imagining that, it did not seem too bad. Sitting with Selena, side by side, perhaps in her room on her bed or the living room and on a comfy sofa? Not at all bad. The movie did not matter, as long as they enjoyed their time.

Selena put the rest of the pizza back in the box and stuck it back into the refrigerator on the second shelf. "Well if you are keen on teaching me some self-defense, I wouldn't want you going easy on me," she said challengingly as she closed the door to the fridge and turned around. "I mean, it's not like I'll learn anything if you're too gentle with me. Don't worry. I can handle it," she said confidently. Hm...a movie...yes, a movie would be good. There was a blu-ray player in the living room and in her room. They could always lounge on her bed.
"Yeah, sure, I'd like a movie. I have plenty to choose from." Picking up her glass of iced tea, she carried it up the stairs knowing that Nero would follow. At least she hoped he would. Once they were in her bedroom, Selena set her glass down on her desk and picked up the other two empty glasses, setting them down as well mentally reminding herself to carry them down to the kitchen later before walking to her entertainment center and opening it once again in order to choose a movie this time.
"Let's see...how about..." She sifted through her DvDs, which would be of outstanding quality on the blu-ray player. She chose one. "It's a bit of a thriller-slash-action movie," she said as she turned on the television and started the blu-ray player, putting the movie inside. Turning it to the correct channel, she pressed the play button and climbed onto her bed, rolling over onto her stomach, her feet hanging in the air, right crossed over left. She nodded towards the spot next to her. However he wanted to sit was up to him.

Cyrus stayed still and silent as Yukina worked. He tried not to show that he was in pain, and for the most part he was successful. It was only when she pulled out the nail that he hissed through clenched teeth, and held her hand a little tighter. It hurt a lot more coming out then going in, but he sure as hell wasn't going to saw that to Yukina. She was trying so hard to not cause him pain after all. "I-I'm glad that you think it'll heal fine. I don't know what I would do if my hands were crippled. Relearn my trade I guess." He commented, stammering slightly from aftermath of the nail being pulled. The man watched as Yukina tended to the now empty wound, dropping a clear liquid over the hole and letting it close up perfectly. He stared at his hand for a moment, a frown coming to his face. "Those were your tears weren't they?" He asked, in a near whisper so that no one outside would hear him. The idea of her crying was what caused him to frown. Though he was thankful that she had such power, the idea of her being sad was...near heartbreaking. He knew what she was of course. Once upon a time they had worked together under an organization called Eden. A place where people him him, Yukina, and Selena could be more free with their abilities.
Cyrus looked back up at her when she said that he was fine now. Soon followed by refusing any payment for her work. "Sorry Yukina, I can't do that." Cyrus said, a small smile coming to his lips. "You saved my hand, and with it my lively hood. You have to let me thank you somehow." He said, the idea forming in his head as he spoke. It was his chance, to get to spend some time with her, and he was going to take it. "Let me...let me take you out to dinner. How about tomorrow night?" He asked. The second the words left his lips he knew how forward that sounded, and he had a funny feeling if he didn't do something she would run out the door any second. "It'll be the three of us. You remember my sister Selena? I'm sure she would like to thank you as well for healing her big brother. What do you say?"

Yukina's jade eyes gazed into Cyrus's sapphire orbs. She wanted to say so many things to him. Yet...why couldn't she bring herself to do it? Why couldn't she be open with her feelings like so many people could? There was almost a wistful expression on her face as she turned around, preparing to leave. She took a step forward, yet Cyrus's first question stopped her. Her tears....Were those her tears? Without turning around, she turned her head downwards and to a few degrees in his direction.
She could see him out of the corner of her eyes, but just barely. "Yes, they were my tears." They were needed in her medical work. Each tear that she cried was placed in a small bottle, which was stored and saved. She had an entire storeroom full of her tears, which were used for healing patients with particularly bad injuries. Another step was taken as she wanted to leave once again, yet Cyrus's next question prevented her from doing so. Her heart began to pound. Dinner...with him? She bit her lip and spun around on her heel, her white peasant skirt and her doctor's coat spinning with her.
"D-Dinner?" she stammered. He wanted to take her out to dinner? "I-I don't know." The more bold side of Yukina's conscience spoke. Come on, Yuki. What are you going to do if you don't go? Sit at home and watch corny soap operas all evening? This guy is offering to take you out to dinner. How many times have you dreamed of that? Besides, it's not like it's going to be a date. He's bringing his little sister. That should make you feel more comfortable. Go on. Go...what have you got to lose?" What did she have to lose? It was just dinner. "O-Okay..." she said nervously.
"I-I'll have d-dinner with you." She wondered if they should meet at your house or his house. She walked to one of the desk drawers and opened it, pulling out a piece of paper where she wrote out her number and walked over, holding it out to him. "Um...y-you can call me tomorrow with the details of how to get to your house. O-Or I can give you directions to my house," she said. Not many people knew her number and she was unsure if Cyrus did or didn't know it. There was definitely some nervousness in her demeanor. She had never remained in the same room with him before for more than a minute or two.
