As she chased after the dark shape, she heard a small rustle in some bushes just yonder, but when she went to check it out, it was just a rabbit scurrying away like the dickens.
Had it felt the presence of the shadowlings and gone running? If so, she was on the right track, but it wasn't here at the moment.

More searching in that direction assessed that the area was..mostly devoid of life.
No rabbits, no ducks, no birds.. just....eerie silence. Was this what it sounded like when there was no wild life? There was something kind of..poignant about it, actually. Like symbolic or something.

Trapping? Nope. Aria had gone and retrieved a runic version of a shotgun, all loaded up with runic bullets to deliver runic justice into a runic-weak shadowling. The gun itself didn't look much different from its regular variation, save for the fact that it was decorated in and of itself with runes.
Before making her way back towards the site, Aria absconded with the ducks and tossed them into an odd, metal box that was most certainly not an oven. After all, how many ovens outside of hte Life Labs had runes inscribed onto them?
With rifle slung over her shoulder, Aria joined in on the hunt, searching for both shadowlings and Cass.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
?
HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!
!!?
Cass sort of stared at a very suspicious acting bush before it suddenly went still. She looked from side to side before she cautiously prodded into it with Nicodemus to see what would ha-
AHHHHHHHH!!! AHHH!
I'M COVERED IN BEES.
She actually made a high pitched shrieking noise when she was swarmed, despite her FEARshield before she booked it to escape the ANGRY SWARM.

...Of course, searching would be easier said and done if she wasn't standing outside the cabin looking around.
The scream caught Aria's attention immediately, the division leader immediately running towards the sound and --
wait.
Cass was being attacked by bees.
Bees which seemed intent on getting Aria too.
"This way! THIS WAY!" Aria yelled, attempting to lead the way before BEES.

She didn't need to be told twice (despite the fact she was told twice) to get moving. In fact, Cass hadn't actually stopped running when Aria had stumbled across her. This was how curiosity killed the cat.
This was how bad things happened to good people.
"AUGH, I DIDN'T MEAN TO PISS 'EM OFF!!" she half-shouted as she swatted some of her horrendous assailants away from her. She was just trying to kill shadowlings!! Really!
No matter how experienced she was at facing horrible things that could kill her, bees still hit every 'Oh god why' reaction she had inside of her.

Aria had faced countless horrors. She had gone up and exterminated things that existed only in a normal person's nightmares, things made of putrid flesh and rot that lurked on the very fringes of a man's mine and came out on top. And here she was, running from bees. #DeusExHunterProblems
The division leader didn't respond to the trainee as she continued to run, switching the safety on her rifle as the buzzing hoard behind her grew lou- they were now in front of her abort abort abort!
Aria put on a burst of speed, still holding onto the rifle as she dived into the lake they were hunting at earlier, submerging herself completely.

#DeusExHunterProblems indeed.
Cass was not quite as skilled at sudden rubberbanding while running into a swarm of angry bees, and almost ran right into (or rather, through) the mob, before she was able to backpedal and follow Aria's lead right into the lake.
She took one deep breath before she plunged underneath the water. Cass was at least good at that without much training - she was part fish. Kind of.

There was a splash of water next to her as Cassandra joined her. Aria glanced up to where the muted swarm of bees hovered overhead, her eyes protected by her goggles. Heck yes for useful fashion. She clutched the rifle tightly and began to half-walk, half-swim away with the intention to surface elsewhere for air. Surfacing here and getting a lipfull of bees? Do not want.

You're kind of an idiot.
<>
Because you jabbed before I could, Cassandra.

Nicodemus seemed almost amused with how much of an idiot his ward was even as Cass, unfortunately lacking goggles, had to just try and flail around and listen to the sound of Aria as she moved.
Nicodemus was fortunately more helpful as her 'eyes' as she made a point to not linger near ANGRY BEES.

Aria studied the swirling mass she could see hovering above them. Great. Great. She needed to come up for air sometime. How long did angry bees take to go away, again? It was difficult to remember.
The division leader took out a length of cord from her pocket and hooked it into the rifle, slinging it over her back. Okay, she had overalls, no coat, t-shirt, gloves... She was going to regret this. Aria waved to Cass and held up three fingers, pointing towards Cass' left. The division leader then turned and began to swim away, stopping to repeat the gesture.

Cass couldn't actually see Aria. Nicodemus was still in a helpful enough mood to at least guide Cass along with the whole shenanigans, though.
Not to say it wasn't a rather hilarious thing to watch - blind swimming. The last thing Cass needed in her eyes was fishy-water. Who knew what kind of grossness was in that water, after all? She didn't!
What were they doing? Cass didn't really have much of an idea, but the whole 'moving blind' thing was fortunately not an entirely new development.

Aria continued to move off. Cass could probably hear the loud splashing as Aria exited the water beneath the loud droning of the bees. The sound quickly grew quiet, until there was nothing but the sound of water.
The bees would be gone the next time Cass risked surfacing for air. Aria was gone as well. What would Cass do next?
